Diner level fare at best. Wedge salad was so drenched in dressing that the lettuce was soggy. Pork scaloppini was a cheap cut of pork that was pan fried and flavored with a sauce that consisted of a stick of butter and a ton of salt. Staff was friendly although overwhelmed by a crowd that didn't even fill the restaurant, so we waited over an hour for our disappointing meal. read more

We have come here several times and every time the meal was thoroughly enjoyable ! Friends had the steak and I had the scallopine - both were delicious and the steaks melted in your mouth ! Went here for lunch. We are from out of the area so went on Yelp ratings. I don't know about dinner but lunch is a very limited menu. The food was good but not 4 to 4 1/2 rating. Service was poor. We were sat a a drafty table and the did not offer to move us. There was only one other table being served. The server herself was nice but not good about knowing when to help us and when to leave us alone. Was not good with refills, pouring of wine or offering the normal things like ground pepper on salads. I'm not sure if I would try this again or maybe choose another establishment. read more

My husband and I had a belated Valentines Dinner last night and decided to try this place out. Well we are so glad we did, the food was incredible. We started with the marrow appetizer (delicious) then cream of asparagus soup (yummy), I had the gnocchi special my husband hand the lamb shanks and finished with chocolate mousse. I had a nicely poured glass of Wine. The staff was delightful and the atmosphere was super cozy. The prices were super reasonable, we were pleasantly surprised when we looked at the menu choices and the entree prices. Take the time to try this little gem.. This is a " cute " face lift on maybe an old Barber shop ? There were four of us, the wine was nice Lodi wine, my veal chop was good. The Mock Cesar salad was unimpressive. My friend had a pasta dish which was good , but left unfinished. My wife's Salmon was old and fishy, she didn't want to ruin the evening with a complaint; However the serving of old fish is unacceptable. Do yourself a flavor and try this newly opened dining delight. The decor is quite nice all recently done by Melissa. We started with the Marrow Bones on garlic crostini. Excellent start paired with a new wine Sycamore Lane Cabernet from Lodi. The wine was very jammy. We shared a small Herb Salad with a very good Balsamic Blue Cheese dressing. Our entrees were the Bistro Fillet and the Lamb Shank. Both were seasoned well and also went well with the wine. Walter, the owner and chef talked to us for a while and says they will be changing the menu next week. Can't wait to see what new creations he will come up with. I want to try the Linguini with shrimp or the Chicken Marsala next time. read more

Food was good. Would try again to make a better decision on that. Service was not great and a bit confusing. 2 servers (similar looking) tended the table. Our drinks were forgotten and so was our dessert. The tab was given and dessert never came. It was because of the servers....1 guy took our order and the other guy didn't bother asking and thought we were done. Would of also liked another glass of wine but they were trying to get others in on the table. Even over heard the waiter telling waiting customers that we should be out in a few minutes. The place is extremely small and if busy, waiting customers are on top of you while eating. Makes for an uncomfortable and pushy situation. read more

This is really a nice find. Very small maybe 10 tables so make a reservation. The best bruschetta we have ever had with capers and a prawn on top. My wife really enjoyed her sole fillet special and I really enjoyed my veal Marsala special. Prices were good value and the service was really thorough. My friends and I highly recommend Zin Bistro. The food was amazing. We immediately felt welcomed and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere for the rest of the evening. Although we couldn't make reservations until 8pm (they stop serving at 8:30 pm) we didn't feel rushed and were allowed to enjoy our meal including dessert. We enjoyed our conversation with Walter the owner; we particularly enjoyed interacting with the wait staff who has been with the owners for many years. We had the Ling Cod, the lamb shank and the Australian lamb loin chops. All were wonderfully prepared. The portions were just right. And needless to say yummy!! The salted caramel mousse was awesome! They also were able to recommend wines and were quite knowledgeable. Great value for an excellent meal experience and service. We wish we had gone back this evening. Instead we went to School Street Bistro and were disappointed by the food and service by comparison. read more

We had a perfect meal in a relaxed setting. While Zine Bistro is small and simple inside, the food was great and priced at a value compared to the higher end restaurants around town(albeit very few). I tried this place a second time, as I wasn't impressed with service the first. We went in for lunch as a group of four. The chicken dish was tender and cooked nicely. The filet had good flavor but chewy. The Angus burger seemed premade and came with fries that seemed to be from a frozen bag. Not what we would expect from and small menu bistro. We were all in the mood for steak tonight. I ordered the waygu sirloin and my husband and son got ribeyes. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The sauce on both were exquisite. Addicting!! My husband and I first came to Zin Bistro last year. Since then it has become our go-to place for a yummy dinner. I literally crave their Bistro Filet on the daily. The prices are VERY reasonable for the QUALITY of food is UNBEATABLE. Small place so make reservations. And I don't recommend parties larger than 6. We stopped going to Wine and Roses, Rosewood, and Woodbridge Crossing after discovering Zin Bistro. You get WAY more for the $$$ read more

Visited for lunch on a weekday. Difficult to find, it's very small, maybe 8-10 tables. The food was pretty ho-hum. I had the wedge salad, which was large but ordinary. The dressing was very garlicky. My companions had steaks, which were ok, but not notable. An expensive but unremarkable meal. Oh my goodness, after visiting a couple Lodi wineries, what a perfect place for dinner! My lamb shank was comfort food heaven. Just sooo good. Nice fresh green salad to start. The food is GREAT! I love the food. There would be five stars but seating is cramped it's hot, and noisy for 24 person occupancy. But the food out ways those shortcomings. Some of the best Sangria I've had, and the food is definitely made with love and passion. I love come on Tuesdays for the $12 three coarse meal, no one can come close to beating that with near the same quality. read more

Revisited Zin Bistro for lunch with friends today. I loved the quiet atmosphere of lunch as opposed to their sometimes noisy evenings. Our group enjoyed a delicious lunch, an entertaining waiter--whom we've met before--and a memorable afternoon. I love the specials that are offered as they differ daily and they are all excellent. They also help for those with a lighter appetite as you can lunch on soup and appetizer--this time a tomato bisque and shrimp cerviche. Excellent meal on July 4th when other places were closed. Light Caesar salad followed by a near perfect filet mignon in a wine reduction sauce. Service was quick, almost too quick and the Lodi Native Zin paired perfectly. Considering all menu items were around $20, I was a little surprised the filet special was $32.
