I got a pedicure with a gel manicure. It was my first time here. My first impression was positive. The chairs were comfortable and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. However, I made an appointment for my sister and I and the other nail technician wasn't there yet at the time of our appointment. We had to wait for 20 minutes for her to arrive to start our pedicures. Also, my gel manicure chipped only 2 days later - see picture for chip on index finger. Gel manicures are supposed to last without chipping in 2 days. I'm not sure what happened but they didn't seem like they knew exactly what they were doing when it came to gel. Overall, an OK experience. I got a Groupon so I'm glad I didn't have to pay full price. I did have to pay an additional required $18 for tip though. read more

I was scheduled for 6pm, at 550 the woman , not quite sure of her name, ( I'm guessing Rashini based on her picture with the responses here, but I don't want to assume and blame an innocent person for this woman's behavior)? She was at the desk, called and asked if I was coming, I said yes of course , I had driven by as it was my first time there, but I immediately turned around and pulled in at 555. I approached the door and i noticed it said that masks were required, I walked in and immediately apologized and said I do not have a mask, and by chance did she have some? Well, I can not even believe the scolding I received from this woman. She proceeded to interrogate as to why I don't have one and why I do not wear one at all times reminding me that there are variants ( I am a registered nurse of 21 years, I am well educated) I was appalled and taken back at the way she spoke to me, she didn't let up, I proceeded to ask her what she would like me to do? I could leave ? She again began degrading and Insulting me as if I committed a crime. She then rolled her eyes and stated " fill out the paper work , you're the last one here and rolled her eyes at me. Well I began to fill it out and then decided that what this woman has done is not only unprofessional, but unacceptable! I turned around and nicely said " I do not appreciate being treated this way. Keep my deposit I am leaving and will not be returning " I am saddened because I read such good reviews on the business site and would have love to give the doctor my business but I could not get past the abusive behavior I just experienced by a woman who may own this spa. If there was a way to give it zero stars I would * update* I just read the yelp reviews and I'm glad I'm not the only one disgusted in this place, and Thankyou to all who saved me from this hack of a doctor . I went to zinc for Botox on my "11s" area. The front staff was exceptionally welcoming and friendly and the spa was clean. The doctor at no point introduced himself and though I have had Botox several times I have NEVER bruised or been swollen after. I have a literal lump between my eyes (4 full days later) and a massive bruise longer than a finger tip. The administration of the injections was incredibly painful and I would never ever go there again or recommend this doctor to administer your Botox. read more

Simply amazing. I love this day spa. So far I have had a fabulous pedicure, which is so hygienic since the don't have bacteria laden jets. The chairs at the pedicure stations are super comfy and even offer a massage. The nail bar is really beautiful, clean and full of many color options as well as gel and vinylux. I didn't even realize there was a beautiful spa area tucked away down a hall from the nail station. I had a very relaxing aromatherapy body glow scrub done by Alex in the Massage room which also included an AMAZING Vichy shower... Imagine a shower coming at you at all angles, simply divine. I am nots ure how this place still exists, but l've never been more blown away start to finish by how awful this place, and the people that own it are. SHORT STORY: I got a Groupon for 20 units of botox. I am 33, and have gotten botox regularly since I was 25, so over 100 times. I was prepared for a "discount" experience, ie the no numbing, the plastic arts n crafts container that the "doctor" had all his stuff in, the GROSS salon itself, all disappointing, but the real issue is, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS INJECTED INTO MY FACE, BUT IT WASN'T BOTOX. I've contacted the salon, she literally yelled at me and hung up on me (see long review for why this was expected), but the fact that I have left this supposed doctor MULTIPLE messages, and been hung up on by him 3 times now, is truly a medical issue. My forehead was VERY sore for 3 days, and now it has been two weeks and there has been ZERO change to my 11's that he injected. 20 units in my 11's anywhere else, ever, makes it have zero movement. I understand there being a difference in injectors etc, but there is no chance that 20 units of botox made ZERO change to the very small area, and I've NEVER had anything but wonderful results from botox. So what was put in my face? I'll never know, but I know it wasn't botox, and I know that this place should not be in operation. I am not a picky, indecent, or emotional person, but I am telling you STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSANE PLACE. LONG STORY: I booked a Groupon, but purchased at the salon per her request, for 20 units of botox. I have gotten botox so many times, that at 8 a unit, I couldn't pass it up, and was only doing my 11's so thought between my personal knowledge, and the simplicity for any licensed injector, I would just be getting a potentially no frills, but harmless experience! I read reviews, and although multiple people stated that the owner was aggressive, I am a hairdresser and thought perhaps she is misunderstood by those not in the service industry, nothing I can't handle. I did see 1 other person that mentioned that they got no results, and I passed it off because I thought there is no way somewhere not injecting properly would be on Groupon, or in business really, in this day in age, and unfortunately took my chances. I got to my appointment 15 minutes early and the salon was closed, I called, no answer. I had driven 45 minutes so I went to get a coffee and wait until my appointment time. She called and let me know she saw my missed call and was now there and the "doctor" was on his way. I walked in, and it was just her and I, and I very warmly introduced myself, and started my paperwork. As I was filling it out, since it was just us, I said, I wanted to ask, what is up with some of the negative reviews? Nothing could have prepared me for the energy and words I received back. For the sake of time, I will say she YELLED back at me, how dare I ask, everyone is crazy, its because I only read YELP, and literally berated me for asking for 5 minutes until I spoke up for myself and let her know service person to service person I would never ever speak to somebody that way, and I wasn't interested in communication with her any further considering I was more than polite, and had every right to ask. She tried to almost antagonize me, it was really weird, several times while I was waiting, almost like pressuring me into taking back that I had said her customer service was sub par by bullying me? IT WAS WEIRD! This is putting it mildly. 15 awkward minutes later (45 mins at this point since my apt was supposed to start), another person walks in, and she was obviously scared I was going to say something to this person-- she literally jumped out from her chair and really awkwardly, and aggressively told me to go wait in the "waiting room." As another reviewer states, this is an apartment that has been made into some home made salon. The actual appointment: The "doctor was nice-ish. Pleasant, and in comparison to his wife, more appropriate. SIDENOTE: they pretend for some weird reason they aren't married. They're a couple. Its not a big deal, but why both adamantly pretend this isn't the case? Again, I'll never know. But, I told him my concern, he said no worries, call me if you need anything post appointment, so I tried to relax as he unpacked this little craft box with whatever he was using just piled in there. I've always been numbed in the last 3 years but he definitely doesn't. The injection was weird only because he didn't make any marks, and it felt deeper if that makes sense, than it does normally, but I attributed this to the no numbing aspect. This place made me extremely uncomfortable. Everything just seemed unprofessional. The receptionist was adamant about giving a tip, on the phone and when I actually got there. That should be up to me whether I liked the service or not. Literally said "okay so now all you owe is the gratuity before you leave." Which I had already given to my technician. The first time I went for a scheduled appointment I sat an hour before letting me know the doctor was unable to make it , second time I waited 45 min past my appt time. My husband sweetly bought me a gift certificate for a spa package for Mother's Day and I finally was able to make an appointment today. I will say that if I had researched this place, I never would have gone. Interestingly, one of the women who works there told me their reviews are what keep them in business, which is funny because one of their only 5-star reviews was written by an employee. The rest of the reviews are terrible. Either way, my husband was trying to do something nice, so I appreciated it and went. At first glance, this place is NOT your typical spa. It's attached to a house or apartment. The parking lot is down the driveway in the back, and the ambiance is lacking. I was met by Stephan, who was going to do my massage. Yes, I was a little taken aback that this was who would be doing my massage. Whatever, he was nice enough and the massage was fine. The room was creepy, but the music made up for it. Next was the facial which, honestly, was the most enjoyable and relaxing part of the day. Kathy was sweet, relatable, and knowledgeable. She also did my pedicure. That was mediocre. My heels are cracked, so I'm not sure what all they could have done but there was no massage portion, like every other pedicure I've had. But to add a layer of confusion or comedy to the story...the ambiance I mentioned earlier is not that of a spa at all. At one point, another customer went out to the bathroom and left the side door open and a tenant (I assume) of one of the other units walked in the door with his dog. The guy disappeared for a couple minutes, leaving the dog in the doorway. No one seemed bothered by this so I didn't say anything, but I definitely thought it was odd. At one point, a solicitor also came into the salon (despite "no solicitation" signs on the door) and interrupted my pedicure. Instead of waving the salesman off, she stopped to grab his card and give him a card. Again, another bizarre occurrence I've never experienced at any reputable spas. After my pedicure, I had a manicure with a third person, Lisa. She was friendly enough at first, but then her friend showed up to chat and ask her about her plans for the evening, and plan their vacation. She didn't get any services done. She literally just came in to chat. Mind boggling. Whatever. The manicure was decent. She made nice small talk and was actually kind of funny. Then, when it came time to cash me out, they couldn't find my gift certificate number and I overheard the owner admit "I never sent an actual gift certificate." BIZARRE. They were finally able to locate my transaction. Lisa then said, "You're all set. So, what do you want to do now?" I was confused and said, "about what?" She said, "The gratuity. Are you going to swipe a card?" I was taken aback. I've never, ever been asked to tip a person before in my life. People tip out of the kindness of their hearts. Not because they're asked to. Either way, I told her I had cash and gave it to her. She looked at me puzzled and I told her to split it between the three people. Granted, it wasn't THAT much, I definitely wasn't expecting to have three different technicians working on me. She clearly was not pleased with how much I was handing her and she said, "Umm, it's usually supposed to be 20% of whatever service you get..." Originally went to this salon with a friend who was getting Botox. They were running over an hour behind so I decided to get a manicure. When asking if they had time for one, they asked one of the techs and it was clear she did not want to do it. I immediately said no worries, I didn't need to get it done but then she said it wasn't a problem she just needed a few minutes and would be right with me. I wish I had insisted that I did not need the manicure because it was the worst I've ever received. There was minimal cuticle work done, the owner had to keep telling my tech which items to use and even how to apply the gel! Each time the light went off on the UV lamp I had to ask her to turn it back on or if I should switch hands because she spent the entire time texting on her phone! Heavy sighing as if I was bothering her by having her do my manicure. Needless to say I was dying to get out of there so I didn't complain at the time. My friend ended up getting her Botox 2.5 hours late. The staff was laughing about people complaining that they were behind and making a joke about someone they forgot to schedule. They were only concerned with discussing their personal lives with each other and no focus on their customers. Within a few days my nails were already chipping, after considering what a bad experience I had I chose to call and speak to the owner before writing a review. I expressed how unhappy I was with the lack of customer service and the poor quality of my manicure, she offered for me to come in and have it redone. I decided to do that and went in the next day. They have a very small parking lot which in order to enter you go through a one car passway. It was completely blocked off and I couldn't find street parking so I called and asked what to do only to find out it was the owners car and she parked there "because it was busy when she came in". Once finally in the salon and already annoyed I sat down for my manicure. The owner told me she was only fixing it not "giving me an entire new manicure" she proceeded to file down the top of the gel, fully admitting she remembered me being there and knew it was a bad manicure but did not want to step on any toes by interrupting or correcting. After making a lumpy, uneven mess of the gels I had on, without having me wash my hands to get rid of the file residue, she decided to start painting on new gel over the other color. By the time she finished my nails were so thick it looked like I applied 3-4 fake nails on top of each other, with the look of lumpy mashed potatoes from the refusal to remove the old gel and start over. Beyond aggravated and believing they wouldn't give me a good manicure no matter how much I expressed my unhappiness, I left. I am writing this review less than one week later because my nails have completely peeled off. Due to the fact that I had 6-7 layers of gel on, they peeled off in complete sheets off of my nails. I've never been so disgusted or disappointed in a service I've received. It was pure laziness to not remove the gel and absolutely everything about this place was unprofessional and uneducated. So I'm review this establishment based off my wife's experience I haven't been but I am the one that paid for her spa day. When I picked her up she told me for about 45 minutes how fantastic it was. She said at first she was very skeptical because the reviews weren't that great and the place from the outside really doesn't look relaxing. Now that being said she said once ur inside it's a completely different story the place was relaxing and calming and clean. The massage therapist was friendly and polite and professional not in anyway awkward like some reviews claimed. The value for what she got was well worth the cost she said so that's really good. She stated all the staff was great and that she would deffinetly go there again either as a gift or on her own. She did say it's not good for big groups only 2 to 3 people max. read more

I ordered the laser hair removal package for a small area. They were using old equipment, and the laser hair removal did NOT work. I went 6 times. When I did not see any results after my first visit (understandable), they said I should start seeing some changes after my 2nd, and a big difference after my 3rd of 4th. When I saw no change after my 4th, they said it usually takes the full 6 appointments. It was after my 4th visit that they got new equipment - supposedly more powerful (which leads me to believe their older equipment was not as effective, and I'd wasted 4 appointments using it). When I finally showed up on my 6th visit, still hairy, they responded "oh, it usually takes at least 8 appointments to really see results!" They were misleading. Also, the woman who confirms appointments, Lisa, was very rude to my mother when she had to miss an appointment due to legitimate sickness. We had already been to multiple appointments, on time, and had never canceled. It was an unexpected sickness, and she called as early as she could, given her state. Lisa left her a harsh voicemail, showing zero compassion. The woman who did our actual laser hair removal was very kind, though. She always had a smile on her face - very welcoming and warm. She was the only redeeming quality of Zinc Spa, as far as I'm concerned. This was a waste of my time and money. I would not recommend this to others. read more

Absolutely awful experience. I had to go back 3 times to try and fix my lips bc they wouldn't give me a refund. All times were painful and unpleasant. The Doctor had no idea what he was doing. I finally went to a specialist who was mortified and had to completely dissolve my lips. I went through so much unnecessary pain and they won't refund me. Extremely unprofessional. I called to make an appointment as a first time client and was told that the doctor came in only on Thursdays and Saturdays. The woman booked me for Saturday at 12:00 but said that if they didn't get enough patients on that day they might have to cancel. I asked her to please call me if that was the case as I would be driving all the way in from Providence. She also asked me to come 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I arrived promptly at 11:45 and was told that the doctor was not there yet. At 12, the time of my appointment he was still not there. The woman at the front desk called him and he said "he was on his way". I informed her that I had to be somewhere by 1 and she told me he would only be 5 minutes. I waited until 12:30 and started to get very annoyed. She called the doctor again and he did not answer. She then informed me that even when he did show up there was another patient ahead of me who was annoyed too and he would need at least 25 minutes with her. At that point I said I'd wait 10 more minutes, bringing me to 12:40. I threw in the towel at that point and the only reassurance I got was that I could call Groupon to cancel my coupon. read more

I've been extremely reluctant to post a review as the doctor is quite nice.. but after going to another spa and and being thoroughly educated on Botox I feel like I just need to write something. I will start out by saying that I am positive this review is not going to be taken well by the owner and there will be a novel written back about it by her. That is why I am writing this anonymously. However the thing I do hope will ultimately happen is bring is better practices within the spa. To start, I received Botox at Zinc at least half a dozen times. It should've been a huge red flag to me when the doctor did not use gloves. That is a huge OSHA sanitation red flag!! You'll read on here often by the owner "that the doctor has 40 years plus experience in the medical field.." Then why on earth were gloves never worn once?! A needle is used, injections are done. No matter how small the amount, there is blood. I should have questioned this and insisted gloves were worn. Another huge red flag to me that I should've been more persistent about was they have absolutely no before and afters of customers. I was told something about "this goes against peoples privacy." Well that's why businesses have disclaimers and ask permission first. Pretty much every spa are there out there has before and afters. So huge flag to anyone going to a practice, not just this Zinc- make sure you seen actual before and afters! You want to see actual results on actual people of the injector you use. Do your research! I was not educated on how the injections are done. I didn't realize that the injection sites on someone's face should be mapped out every time. The Injector who does a thorough job is going to have a face map and is going to know where each injection is done- so they know what works and what doesn't. As everybody's results are completely individual. The doctor said to me that some people make these notes but he doesn't "because he's been doing it for so long he just knows where to inject the Botox." False!! that's ridiculous now that I think back about it. I always went for a touchup because I always ended up looking a bit "Spock-ish." My eyebrows would raise more on the far outside because the muscles were not evenly relaxed. Had proper mapping of the injections on my face been done this would've been able to be pinpointed. But again each time I went my injections were just eyeballed. I fully admit I put a lot of this on the back burner and was very tolerant of it because the pricing at zinc is so inexpensive. I'm learning now that what you get is what you pay for. I ended up going to another spa for a consult. The Injector there showed me a face map. She then put dots on my face of where she was going to do the injections, and all this was noted on the face map so she'd know for next time. She also took thorough before pictures. Which I signed a consent form for. All zinc needs to do is have consent forms and then they can have pictures to show customers. Again the doctor was nothing but very nice but unfortunately my results were not the nicest. I really hope that this spa uses this information and starts using more thorough practices. I really hope that men and women read this and make sure that these things are being done, but particularly gloves in the least!!! ** After owners comment back- I am anonymous as I stated I knew your retaliation would not be happy. I am not a competitor I was a customer. I saw the doctor at least six times. I know he's got 40 years experience blabla it is constantly reminded in your comments back to any complaints about your spa. I can assure you gloves were never worn. There's no confliction there. Just because he had a very nice demeanor means absolutely nothing to the fact that gloves were not worn. Again only hoping for only some proactiveness with the spa. Wear gloves, use a face map of each individual to know where you're giving injections, get better Botox results. And for any consumers, simply do your research. read more

Horrible experience with Brazilian wax. I have had numerous done in the past and never in my lifetime been in so much pain than at Zinc Spa. Woman does not know how to wax people; she rips off the cloths strips slowly and puts her weight on your pelvic bone while she waxes you. On top of it she also charges $15 extra for "extra work" when there is no extra work (never had that issue at other salons). I was in pain for 2 days. I will never return. read more

I need to start by saying that the massage was fantastic. I had a bad experience with a massage at a different place so I decided to try out Zinc after finding a deal on Groupon. I booked my appointment online and thought that the booking system was a bit strange. You have to give 3 times that you are available and they send you a confirmation email with the time that works. The only reason that I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was a little uncomfortable that you can't select male/female preference of your masseuse and it doesn't indicate in the email who you will be with. I had purchased a Groupon to get a gel manicure. I went in with dip powder nails from a different salon I went to a few weeks before.. all grown out and in need of a freshened look. My nails had grown out, so I was ready to switch to just a basic gel manicure. Kathy took care of me. I needed to soak the dip I already had on my nails, off.. and for some strange reason.. they would NOT come off after over a half hour soaking in acetone. Usually, they just soak off. They were being stubborn -- but Kathy was so patient and gentle trying to get them off. Eventually, they finally came off with some prying. I couldn't believe it, and neither could Kathy or the rest of the staff. Once we got the old polish off, Kathy was wonderful in taking care of my nails that had been damaged from the dip. She spent nearly 2 hours with me, and was attentive in making sure I was comfortable, needed anything, or if I liked the color, etc. She was AWESOME! Very sweet. Highly recommend her and the salon. The only thing worse than the quality of work is the customer service. They also include a 20% tip in the bill without telling you. BEWARE and avoid avoid avoid. RE: I cannot disagree more with owners response. Thank you for finally apologizing but everything else is simply untrue. I hope other people can head this warning and go elsewhere. read more

I went to Zinc for an hour massage because I found a deal in the newspaper. I called last minute hopeful that they could squeeze me in, and they were very accommodating. The receptionist was very pleasant as soon as I walked in, and they were getting phone calls off the hook to book appointments which I think is always a good sign! Tammy was my massage therapist and she was fantastic. I am sensitive to massages and she applied the perfect amount of pressure. I walked out feeling great and I will definitely be back! read more

Went in with a friend for a mani/pedi and it was amazing. We got to sit next to each other and chit chat while we got our services done and the staff was friendly and helpful. The owner was in the salon and helping out and was personable and warm. My manicure was flawlessly and carefully done and it was a great, relaxed atmosphere! This is the second year in a row that I booked a deep cleansing facial. Best birthday present ever 2 years in a row. Last year I had Alex, this year Kathy, both were fabulous, asking about my comfort the whole time,so professional and so nice. My skin was glowing, I felt totally pampered. I would go back again and again. I would say that the prices on the web site and at the desk should match, just to ensure that there is no confusion. Even at 60, it would be totally worth it! BE WARNED - Horrible management - if you sign up one of their package "deals" ask for receipts, or something in writing as they have no idea of their appointment booking software, they book wrong days etc. In my case was, when I was checking out and I still thought I had a pre-paid massage, they said I did not - whether they were right and I was wrong (which I don't think I was) the situation should have been handle much differently - I was an emotional wreck that day of service due many personal matters, and the the massage therapist knew of this, as we were checking out it escalated over how many times i had been there or not, and I was left a sobbing, hyperventilating, shaking, mess and no one cared, just stares all around - when I left, I sat outside on the bench for 10 minutes as i tried to redeem my composure - I was in so much pain that day and this salon made one of the worst days in my life so much more painful I will never forget how horrible I felt and still feel about the whole situation read more
