The moment I talk to Brenda trying to reconcile my account she told me another phone call was way more important than mine, and then hung up the phone. They've locked my account so many times, she told me one number last week and then turned around and told me another number this week. I had them for my car loan. First, they told me that I needed to have an account in order to have a loan there. Then they charged my credit card $10 just because it wasnt through. Finally, I made my car payment and it was set up on two different platforms. When I got it refunded back into my external account because it was doubly paid, they then made my bank go into the negative and are requiring me to pay it back when it wasnt my fault. Run. Don't walk. RUN from this bank. Ever since they changed their name their services have divulged into chaos. It takes up to 30 minutes to answer their phone. And then when you actually get a human, it doesn't really matter, because they don't seem to know how to do anything. ALL of the good people left the company, and after 15 years using this bank, we are too. Some complaints: They transferred servers, so all of the checks written which you could access online are gone. They CHARGED US to access them, while admitting the problem was on their side. Then, after getting a message that there was a compromise on my credit card, I rushed to the office to get a new one, which after a week of calling, STILL DOESN'T WORK. I have spent hours on hold and on the phone trying to resolve this, and I am just losing time on my life, because nothing is ever resolved. I am so over this bank and today, I will find a new one. I've experienced nothing but utter incompetence 98% of the time, including the day we signed up, had to go back 3x during a pandemic because they didn't do the paperwork for an auto loan correctly. Several emails went unanswered and if you were lucky enough to talk to a competent and friendly person, it was quickly overshadowed by people like Trish, who clearly don't know their policies and procedures, and hangs up on you when you kindly ask for a manager since she seemed to be guessing with important info. Cannot wait until the cashiers check I deposited clears so I can close my account. They didn't verify the check on deposit so the buyers of said vehicle cannot get the title they paid for for 10 days despite being told it's a 7 day hold. STAY AWAY! read more

I'm not sure what it is about this bank personal customer services that errk my nerves but sometimes it leaves me wondering why I even bank here. It just came to a head today, on a time crunch I needed to make arrangements to my new card that was sent out. Going to this particular location Your to wait by the door and approach with the questions about your needs there so I'm assuming where to places inside. I was sent to this really sweet girl and right away helped me with the issue on my card. She asked if there was anything else she could help with and unfortunately I answered with " yes, I was wondering who to approach or speak to when it dealt with communication between the bank and myself concerning breaching and cancelling? " Again the girl was very sweet but she had me standing there unanswered typing away to either managers on the floor or researching the question but whatever it seemed to be she knew as much as I did. However she was trying to call on a gentlemen who was walking the floor and paying no attention and talking away to another young lady in a office laughing away unconcerned of what was happening in front. I just became super impatient and upset then approach him directly and expressing that he was needed and he should be more attentive. His reaction was careless to say the least. After 5 years of a solid relationship, we closed our account with Zing, formerly Denver Community Credit Union. Our first five years were wonderful with Kiley. With LUKE however, a very different experience. He was extremely deceptive, made promises, and put our fiscal integrity in danger for a mere number. We have NEVER had such a sour experience. We have held accounts for over 3 decades with Wells Fargo. We engaged DCCU (now ZING) back in 2018 when we secured financing for a Ford F250 Truck, which we paid off prior to the loan end date. ($20,000 loan paid on time/every time/ and PAID OFF PRIOR TO DUE DATE. Luke was at first a very quick talking representative that clearly appeared to have our best interest in mind. NOT the case, we were numbers on a screen and he most certainly raked us over the coals before he was done. We originally, felt a great relationship with DCCU, our mistake was speaking with LUKE when we should have dealt with Kiley, she always had our interest in mind. But it does pose the question, what kind of Management is in place to allow entry level representatives to deal with major, or even minor fiscal decisions that affect a person(s) financial stability? We closed our account(S). Management NEVER SEEN. Kiley was great during our experience. LUKE not so much, very sub-par and quite frankly, questionable in regard to ETHICS. Be EXTEREMELY careful of his fast talking promises. I reiterate, those that make the ultimate decisions, NEVER SEEN. BE AWARE. 08/17/2023 - UPDATE: Both my husband and I received a Voice Mail from ZING credit Union from "Josh" short and simple - please call him back regarding our review. Nothing else...the VM for both myself and my husband were 20 seconds or less. They will not open an account for me because they said something was wrong with my driver's license. So I submitted more forms of id, like a passport, global entry id, and other ids and now I'm told something is wrong with a couple of my ids, but they will not tell me what is wrong. Nothing is wrong with my ids that are issued by Florida state and the Federal Government. So, something is wrong with this credit union and they are not telling me the truth. I've been using DCCU for a few years now and haven't had an issue. Their staff have been generally friendly, although they do seem to go through tellers pretty quickly. The Acoma location has pretty flexible hours and their drive through opens at 7:30 am (last time I stopped by, at least). My biggest frustration has been their online system mainly because it wasn't as user friendly as I'm used to. I've never used their auto financing or other services so I can't speak on those. read more

I applied for an auto loan on their website which was an easy experience. Lawrence contacted me the next day for some additional information and I was set to go. I got an amazing rate (nearly half point below next competitive offer) and Lawrence was a huge help. He was prompt to reply to my questions during the process, even after hours! Even after the loan was funded and I was having some trouble getting my online account setup, Lawrence was promptly willing to help resolve the issue and get me setup. Wonderful experience. I have been a member for 15 years and generally have great service. However, when I was recently dealing with Mary Koch in collections, my experience was awful. My account was levyed when I called to get information she was very rude. I was never denying the levy. However, she needs to understand that for most people, this can be a very stressful situation. She needs to have a little compassion towards members. When I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to, she said no very rudly. read more

Whew.... where to start!!! This bank is atrocious at best, their online banking system is one of the worst designed systems ever. Hard to find what you need and I can't just simply make a payment loan. I use I l this account only for an loan so nothing kept in savings so I tried to link an external account 4 different times. I see the transactions on the other account I'm trying to link but never an outstanding request to verify and attach the 2 accounts together. Naturally I try the Massie an online payment option; Alas, my account and information are not able to be verified or are invalid yet somehow I am able to log in to my account dashboard no problem. Ok I next try an express payment thinking, fine I'll deal with a $10 "transaction fee just to be able to pay on time. WRONG! Unable to verify my account info yet again. Ok, I'll deal with the same "TRANSACTION FEE!" and just call in directly to make the payment but I have to jump through hoops to even be able to do this because I am a secondary co-signer, they ALWAYS have to call the primary person on the loan to verify that I have authorization to willingly give them my money. Don't forget the"TRANSACTION FEE". Since I'm sick of paying $10 every time I want to be a responsible person and hold up my end of the deal, I decide instead to take 15-30 minutes out of my day to find a shared branch to go into and just make the payment this way. Sighh..... I truly hope others are reading this and taking it extremely serious and reconsider ever using this company. I am absolutely disheartening that I have to give such a review but I've been taken advantage of far too long. My loan will be moved to a completely different bank. read more

So, when you need to make an after 5 pm deposit there are NEVER envelops or deposit slips in the over night drop box. The drop boxes are also filled with trash and dirt. Opened an account but then never heard a word about it. I called a week or two later and was on hold for 15 min. The rep told me that my account was active and ready. Update : two representatives from the bank contacted me to try to determine the cause of the problem and prevent it from happening in the future. They weren't sure what happened, but took the time to thoroughly understand the problem and said they would pass the information along to the third party bill payment company. Anytime you need to see a personal banker, they put you in the chairs forever to wait, mean while the staff is not busy, Went in last month to open 2 additional accounts, was told there was a short wait, so I took a seat. After 20 minutes of watching 3 personal bankers stand around chatting, I went back to the receptionist and asked if I could just close my accounts with a teller. She said," Oh sure, any of them would be happy to do so". Seriously, I walk in to open 2 accounts, walk out 25 minutes later with 2 closed accounts. Terrible service, mediocre rates The rates at this credit union don't justify how terribly you will be treated... I had a loan serviced through them because we wanted to support a credit union vs Wall Street. In this case of denver community credit union, I would've much rather supported Wall Street. These guys are clueless, it feels like every employee you talk to is on their 1st or 2nd day there. No one knows what to to, loan officers are horribly incompetent. We dealt with a Jaime, and he was the worst. Couldn't figure out how to return a call or an email. Guess what, we refinanced our loan through chase bank and will never put another penny into denver community credit union. In fact, I will spend my time advocating people NOT TO WASTE THEIR TIME OR MONEY HERE. They are horribly incompetent. They messed up a simple loan 4x with the processes, and because we are the customer, we had to be inconvenienced each time and drove back to the credit union during a pandemic to keep signing if stuff they forgot to have us sign. This place serves no purpose other than to take your money and offer little to no services. Do yourself a favor and put your money elsewhere. After experiencing one of the most horrific financial and customer service nightmares of my life with Compass Bank, I knew it was time to switch financial institutions. As I was recounting my tales of woe, a friend of mine suggested I opt for a credit union instead of a bank. After doing a little research, and discovering that credit unions are not for profit, and member run, I was sold. I searched credit unions around Denver, and as though by kismet, found Denver Community Credit Union. When I opened my account (any resident of Denver is eligible to join by the way), my banking fears were quickly assuaged as I realized everyone was friendly, welcoming, and truly willing to help me. In the process of opening my account. the member services guy not only took care of all of my needs, but also suggested I meet with one of the loan officers to talk about some refinancing options available to me. I agreed, and was able to meet with one that day. After talking with her, she helped me figure out that they could refinance my car loan at a 3% lesser interest rate than what I was currently dishing out, and for a shorter term. Not only that, but they could transfer my credit card debt at a lesser interest rate as well. I was stoked! It took about a month, but I got everything refinanced, and it was a completely painless process. I will end up saving quite a bit of money, and will be able to pay my car and credit card payments at the same place. I never thought I would say this, but I love going to the bank! Denver Community has really transformed my ideas about what a bank can do for you. Everyone is friendly, and they even remember my name and say hello when I come in! They really go above and beyond for their members. Also, they are incredibly environmental and community conscious. They recently remodeled their branch with more sustainable materials, and it is gorgeous. Another thing worth noting is that they are a part of the Credit Union Services Coalition, which means that you can do banking at any other Credit Union in the Coalition across the country. Mattress vs. CU: The pros and cons to storing my money in a mattress vs. a CU. CU: This place has consistency issues. One day they process a check just fine the next visit it is a completely different situation filled with complications and rude employees. Limits on debit purchases that are enforced with fees. No added value outside of holding in to my money. Mattress: A mattress on the other hand is very consistent and has better availability, better security, a consistent policy for depositing money, even if the mattress is having a bad day it won't be rude. No fees for transactions. Mattress 1 CU 0 When you apply this lack of consistency and the fact that you can get the same low level customer service from any of the larger banks (with more locations) there really isn't much to be positive about. At this point the only thing that is keeping me here is the lack of effort on my end to make the move to a different institution. read more

Man, being a member of a credit union is awesome. Not only am I supporting a local business, but I have instant access to a network of other great credit unions around the state. My "home" credit union is Elevations Credit Union, but this is my go to bank when I have to make a deposit or withdrawal since Elevations doesn't have a branch convenient to me in Denver. I have another "credit union" just around the corner from me, but I choose to walk the extra six blocks to DCCU because, simply put, they rock. Their staff is super friendly and they always have a small army of tellers attending to customers. Plus, there is always a greeters at the front desk to answer any questions I might have. Since I had to cancel my card a couple weeks ago and have been having to walk to the branch to take out cash once a week, I can say that each visit has been a pleasant one. Full disclosure: I wrote a positive comment on a talk message board about Denver Community Credit Union and they gave me a tote bag full of cool bank freebie gifts. But even without the goodies, I have long enjoyed my time as a member of this great credit union. They've been my main bank since I was a city lifeguard back in high school (they used to be a city employee credit union but are now open to anyone who lives or works in Denver), and they have always provided me top-notch service. They are especially good for saving your money. They have a free coin-star machine for members to trade their change into cash or savings. What I do is put my change into this open high-interest CD that allows you to continually put cash into the CD while it is maturing. Already saved nearly $300 in two years just from pocket change. And like I said the customer service is top-notch. Last time I went to take my change in, the coin-star machine was broken and the machine's technician hadn't been in to fix it. The teller offered to keep my change for me to put through the system when it was fixed and she even personally called me to tell me how much was added into my account. How many commercial banks even offer coin-counting or charge for that service? DCCC does this all for free and goes the extra mile to make its members happy. I'm a loyal, happy member of the Denver Community Credit Union. Whether I get free pens and mugs or not. read more

I have been a member for a couple years now. I will never be with a bank again. I have been sold to the credit union way of life. Denver Community is a great place to store your hard earned cash. I have never had a problem with this institution. First off they are part of the co-op network of credit unions. If you are not familiar, it means any credit union or 7-11 convenience store you can use the ATM for free. Living near downtown there are tons of 7-11 stores. It also comes in handy when traveling. I frequent Las Vegas every six months and the 7-11 on the strip is always on my to do list. Another nice aspect about it is, you can also make deposits at some credit unions across the country. Now down to the important stuff. My identity was stolen last year. I had almost a thousand dollars worth of charges within a afternoon. I was lucky and just happened to check my balance that afternoon. The credit union cancelled everything right away. I had my money back within 10 days. Please note, you must live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in Denver to be a member, so proof of residency is no longer necessary. My last thought is, if you buy a hybrid or a car that gets over 30mpg you get a full point off on your interest rate. read more

Besides the fact that it is conveniently located right behind my business Fashion Denver, the quality of customer services is beyond exceptional. Regarding doing online banking, I have absolutely no trouble logging in and accessing my account to get the information that I need. The guy who wrote the mattress vs. credit union review really captured a lot of my experience here beautifully. Worst financial institution EVER. I've been a member for over 5 years always hoping that my efforts to support a local business are worth it. I've been wrong. I'm soon to move my business elsewhere, but as anyone who pays their bills online with auto withdrawals knows, it is a pain in the butt to do. I purchased a new car about 6 months ago and applied with them first for a loan. The best they could offer me was over 17% interest. The woman who called was extremely rude upon informing me of this and told me I had a "D" credit rating. Apparently, a "D" is a passing grade for Capital One since they gave me a loan with 2.6% interest the same day. I guess a credit score in the high 600's puts people in Loserville according to the elite staff at this place, and they make sure you know it too. The inconsistency with trying to deposit funds is beyond exasperating. Don't even try to deposit a "3rd party check." If you bring in your driver's license, your birth certificate, your boss and your 1st born, they might do it for you without 37 whiny questions, but probably not. On other days depending on the mood, they might do it no questions asked. After 10 debit card transactions per month, they'll charge $1.00 per transaction. An insanely unreasonable fee that I discovered the hard way. The luxury branch of Denver CC closest to me is off of 12th and Federal. Parking lot? Tiny and crowded. Drive through? Nope, forget it. Go inside and stand in line for at least 10 minutes and feel lucky if the teller makes eye contact with you once your wait is over. If you've been in there twice a week for a year, they still ask for your ID without fail even when making a cash deposit. Pretending like they don't recognize you is easier that being a social human I guess. Not to mention, the whole carding policy when making a deposit is the dumbest thing ever. Lame! In case it wasn't obvious enough, I can't stand this place. They don't deserve my business or your's. Best to stay away. read more

Terrible service! I hate coming here. I try avoiding this location as much as possible. How much time should a deposit take? I don't mean when you are waiting in line. I mean when you are already being "helped" by a tailor who is looking left and right for manager approval for every move she makes?! Every time! It's so frustrating! One day I was waiting in line. The guy in front of me was holding documents behind his back. I was able to see everything- full name of the person, social Security number, address etc. I told him that. I really like this bank. They have awesome rates on checking accounts and loans. I have only opened up a savings account, in an effort to save some money, but my experience each time has been great. I do wish there hours were a bit later than 5, but i live in the DTC now and its a drive to go get money out downtown. You can get a debit card, but i choose not too. (to help spend less). The staff is very friendly and super helpful. They also offer classes about credit and other helpful tools in the banking area. Overall extremely satisfied. read more

Banking with Denver Community Credit Union is mostly awesome. They are smaller financial services company that generally offers more personalized service for personal and small business members they have super loan and credit card rates. Denver Community Credit Union is all this but... Unfortunately, they fall flat when it comes providing customer attention via phone. Very long waits. They use a centralized phone bank service, it is their own but the number or personnel seems quite lacking. I would love to see the metrics on call wait time as I am guessing it is often closer to 10 minutes than not. While one week link isn't a killer for banking, it could be so much better... Addendum: Sadly, I too have experienced the declining of a card only to find out it had been compromised and cancelled. I am set up to receive texts if my balance drops below a certain point, it would seem that a text: "YOUR DEBIT/CREDIT CARD HAS BEEN FLAGGED DUE TO A POSSIBLE FRAUDULENT USE, CONTACT DENVER COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION IMMEDIATELY" I have received this level of notification from AMEX and other card issuers. read more

I would not recommend that you join DCCU. First of all, if you are imagining a credit union where you are respected, taken care of, and the customer service reps will recognize you and treat you professionally, think again. The turnover is so high that tellers are changing over. New tellers rarely act professionally or know how to assist members. Some are just plain rude. Experienced, friendly tellers are either transferred out or leave for other jobs. In addition, the customer service is very unprofessional. DCCU recently trained all their reps to great you with, "It's a great day at customer service, how can I help you?" regardless of if you're on the phone, in person, or at the drive through, giving you the impression that you're interacting with a bot. While a member here, my ATM card info was hacked and my account cleaned out. When I reported it to DCCU, I was treated with distrust. The rep I spoke to was not warm or supportive, basically giving me the impression that she thought I was running a scam. Only after I filed a report with the Denver Police regarding the theft did DCCU restore my balance. In addition, DCCU loves to charge fees. Fees for using your debit card, fees for overdraft, fees, fees, fees. If I wanted a bank that treated me like just another customer, charging me fees after fees, I would join a megabank. read more

Never in my life have I been so horrified by a customer service experience than with the one I experienced yesterday at this credit union. In April 2016, I agreed to cosign on an auto loan for my younger sister. Recently, she fell onto hard times and developed a drug problem that prevented her from being financially responsible. Since I was the cosigner on the vehicle and ultimately financially responsible for it, I proceeded to confiscate the vehicle from her and continued to make the payments on my own while I tried to sell the vehicle to a more responsible party. During this time, Ben from the credit union had made a courtesy call as one of my car payments had been delayed and hadn't processed over a weekend. During this call, I informed him of the situation and told him how I had planned to handle it. Never once did he mention anything about there being an issue with my plan to pay off the auto loan. Yesterday, I went down to the Acoma branch with a buyer to pay off the auto loan and get a lien release so we could complete the transaction. It was at this time I was directed into Shannon's office and told by her that they could not issue the lien release because of a separate collection account. She then proceeded to tell me that I could not move forward because of this account and that she could offer no further information about it. I would have to have authorization from my sister to discuss the matter since I was not a joint account holder. SO WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU BE HOLDING ME RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ACCOUNT I AM NOT AN OWNER OF? That account had nothing to do with me. When I cosigned on an auto loan, never did they inform me I would also be held responsible for all other accounts in my sister's name even though I had no access to them. It was at this time I spoke to Ben from collections on the phone again and he proceeded to try and explain why this was an allowable practice. He would not authorize a lien release letter if I did not pay off her collection account. Even though I was not authorized to discuss the matter or listed as a joint account holder on said account. (On a side note, my sister had already contacted them separately and made payment arrangements to bring the account current.) In the end, the only way I could sell the car was if I too paid off a collection account in her name. And then the REAL KICKER, I couldn't even close that account though I had been forced to pay for it and bring it current. She would have to contact them herself and go through the process from rehab. Thank you so much for such a wonderful customer service experience! I would advise banking elsewhere. They don't care about their customers and their practices are shady! read more

Last night I found out my debit/credit card with DCCU was compromised, via a call at 9pm. FOR THE THIRD TIME IN 5 YEARS. The amounts were small, but plentiful, so it wasn't as obvious as the last two times; one of which the fraudster withdrew the maximum allowed, every day, until my account was empty. I received several calls from 800 numbers, which I didn't answer because I assumed they were spam. The last time they called, they actually left a message and this is how I found out my account was compromised. It doesn't come from the phone number ending in 1170. DCCU was apparently the last bank on earth to get chips in their cards, but that didn't stop my account from being compromised this time. I am so tired of having to cancel my card, either wait 7-10 business days for it to arrive, or drive to a location, take a seat in the purgatory waiting area AGAIN to get a new card. All because they just cannot keep my personal information safe. Icing on the cake: I was denied a loan to buy a home 5 years ago, after banking with them for 2 years, even with $10 grand sitting in this branch. Ended up going elsewhere for my loan... which should have been my sign. Then they convinced me to use my card more often for purchases (I'm a cash girl), but then I started noticing charges on my online account for doing so. ha! What they don't tell you is that after so many debit purchases (not credit) they ding you, and you end up getting money taken OUT rather than put into the Mile High APY account. After 7 loyal years, I'm done here. Don't know where I'm going yet, but it couldn't be worse. read more
