I have been here multiple times with my family, and every visit has been outstanding. The service is always top-notch, and the food is fresh and delicious. A special thank you to Zarina today, who took the time to communicate with us, accommodate our preferences, and answer all of our questions professionally and warmly. Leu (Manager?) also stopped by our table to make sure everything was going well during our dining experience which was nice. Our server Zarina's attentiveness and service made our meal more enjoyable and lived up to the high standard we have come to expectations today. Thank you!! The prices are very reasonable for the quality and value you get. We ordered the polenta, beet salad, chicken tagine, pasta, and NY strip steak, and they were all equally excellent--we were so hungry that I forgot to take pics... For dessert, we had the tiramisu and crème brûlée. Highly recommend. They were the perfect (not too overtly sweet which was better) way to end the meal!

Leu was fantastic! He really took care of us and keeping us on track due to the kitchen closing really soon. He made sure that we were all feeling comfortable. I enjoyed the squash blossoms and the cheese was delicious with it. As well the ciabatta and olive oil YUM! I was so stuffed that I can only eat some of it but they cooked it as I requested. Zarina is charming and remembers orders really well. She gave me recommendations

How great it is to dine at a restaurant inside one of the Historic Hotels of America. Beautiful bar & tastefully decorated dining area in a centrally located hotel in downtown Berkeley. The breakfast & dinner are both delicious. Love the low abv & non alcoholic drink options. The ice cream & bread pudding were so delicious. Overall food was delicious but some things to note: The Brussel sprouts were a tad over charred. The burger price is the same even without the meat patty, would have loved a veggie patty option. There were too few chocolate chips in the chocolate chip pancakes. Guests were mostly older solo travelers, college students meeting up with their parents, a young group of friends & a date. Could not find a current bar, restaurant or room service menu online

Kyle recommended the warm croissant bread pudding, and it was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Highly recommend if you have an acquired taste for desserts like this.

Let's just say that the savory deliciousness of the duck confit gnocchi combined with our bartender Marlon's excellent welcoming vibes made for a wonderful date for me and my husband. We will definitely return!

The ambiance and breakfast is the best! Very welcoming and comfortable seating. We had 3 breakfasts while staying at the hotel and a dinner. For breakfasts, we had the oatmeal, latte's, bacon, waffles, berry fruit cup (super fresh) and croissant. No complaints with the breakfast - all soo good! Dinner - we had the strip steak and the burger. Burger was overcooked and tasted charred. We had the bread pudding for dessert and that made up for the overcooked burger taste. Service was pretty slow for dinner.

The food was amazing! I had the tomato soup and it was very rich and creamy. My friend had the Lamb and said it was very tender!! Good service, beautiful and clean.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Zino. The ambiance was nice with live music playing. The service from Zarina and Leu was very attentive, the food came out hot, and everything was delicious. The bread pudding was our favorite item! We look forward to coming back in the future.

This is strictly a brunch review for Zino because I haven't had dinner here for a while. For starters, they have a rather ample brunch menu. Lots of items from sweet to savory for breakfast and plenty of lunch items as well. There are egg options galore, soups, salads, wraps, a burger and pizzettas, but we went for the sweet breakfast delights. My mom had the pancakes with fresh berries, which she enjoyed. I had the French toast, also with fresh berries, plus citrus butter, and it was absolutely excellent. Delicious maple syrup. The coffee is pretty good too. Lots of seating. Hotel restaurant vibes and that's OK. Because the long oval bar is spacious enough to allow people to do their own thing. So you could chat or watch a football game on the big screens if you'd like. There are sections of the dining room that are far enough away from the TVs that you wouldn't notice them. There's great light offered by the window seating by day. The street outside is pretty quiet by Knight.

Best hotel bar I've ever been in. Marlon took good care of me and mine. Zino is a wonderful gem. The fries are secretly good. Don't ruin a good thing by telling everyone you know to come up here.

I had amazing time here! My server Zarina provided excellent service and was super kind. I would highly recommend coming here for dinner and getting the bread pudding for dessert. The environment is lovely too.

They closed for a time, and now seem to be thriving again! Heading to the Greek for a weekend show, we wanted to pop in somewhere close-by. We cozied up to bar seating, and enjoy a couple of martinis featuring local gin and vodka, and ordered some food to share: the Original Tikka Masala Flatbread (we had to finally try it!), and the Sev Puri Chaat (first time trying this ever!). Service was amazing, and if I could write this review purely on the originality and creativity of the menus, I would (see pics!) The menus were CD cases (remember those, ha) with a fun take on 'Spice Girls', titled 'East Bay Spice Company'. For Spice Girls fans, you will recognize what album this was derived from. Each page of the cd book was a different part of the menu, including drinks, happy hour (from 2-6pm), and food. So fun, and unlike anything I've ever seen before. The food was so fresh and delicious. Loved the pomegranate seeds and lightness from the Sev Puri Chaat, bite size garbanzo bean/potato goodness! And standing O for that flatbread..pro-tip: get a side of the Tikka Masala sauce to pour on top. Absolutely amazing. I'm a huge fan of Tikka Masala, and having that sauce be a base for a pizza...come on!! We did chicken as the protein. Overall, so happy to return and have East Bay Spice back apart of the Berkeley rotation again. Small, dimly-lit, cool digs. Also check out their sister spots: Tap in Lounge and Tipsea in Berk, Blue Rabbit Bar off San Pablo, and Lemon Drop in Alameda.

I tried to start a friendly conversation and ask a few questions about the drinks, however the responses I received were very brief and limited to only the drink names, which made the interaction feel unwelcoming. Can't quite describe it but it didn't feel like an SF bar, felt more open and like a community watering whole. On to the food and drinks. I'm vegetarian so was so excited to try the dogs - which are vegan. And I may be biased but you cannot tell that you're missing out on anything with all the flavor packed combos. The bun was fluffy and soft and you have multiple fun themed options to choose from. My partner and I ended up getting the deli dog and truffle meltdown. Deli was perfect - classic mix of spice and crunch with the spicy brown mustard and giardiniera peppers.
