If you're looking to hike the Narrows inside Zion National Park, Zion Adventure Company is worth visiting beforehand! We rented the Warm Weather Package from ZAC (about $23). This included canyoneering shoes, neoprene socks, a walking stick, plus a short information safety video. The walking stick literally saved my life more times than I could count on the hike. The neoprene socks also made a huge different in keeping your feet warm in the freezing river water. I went back to the Narrows a second day without the socks and my feet were freezing!! I also liked the shoes. They had good grip and I didn't have to worry about banging up or cleaning my own hiking boots. Get the Narrows hiking package! It's totally worth it!!! We went around 10AM and it was pretty packed. They do a good job though to get everyone geared up quickly and out to the park. The shop itself has snacks and other hiking/camping gear for sale. They also offer a variety of different outdoor classes and tours. Definitely something we'll look into next time we visit! All of the staff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the National Park. Ask them anything and they'll be able to suggest things to do and see. A friend and I had a weekend in Vegas to kill and didn't feel like schlepping up and down the strip all day in 110 deg. weather. We decided that we would like to go and hike "The Narrows" in Zion Canyon National Park. After a little research it seemed like having the proper equipment would be a big help. Stumbled across ZAC on Yelp and I'm glad I did. $20 bucks gets you the proper shoes with neoprene booties and a walking stick for the day. You also get a map and a short intro movie on how to best accomplish the hike without getting yourself killed in a flash flood or some other evil thing that nature can throw at you. This was especially useful to the both of us since we were new to hiking. The equipment was a huge help during the hike. The shoes had excellent grip, the neoprene booties help keep your feet warm and the walking stick was essential to not falling over and busting your ass in the river. Don't fool yourself and think that you will be able to complete this hike in your flip-flops, you will be making a huge mistake. Six hours later we were back from our hike and the equipment return process was smooth. Would definitely recommend ZAC to anyone that is planning on hiking the narrows or if I find myself hiking the narrows again in the future. read more

I came with a group of 10 to rent equipment to hike The Narrows. It's a good idea to make reservations instead of trying to get gear the day of the hike because they do run out of rental gear. We mostly rented the dry pants package ($41) which works amazingly well. I was wearing a pair of sweats underneath the dry pants and they were completely dry after the hike. Other people in my group also rented the full dry suit package ($51). Both packages include neoprene socks, canyoneering boots, and a walking stick. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and helpful despite how many customers they had. My one minor complaint about this place was that the neoprene socks were disgustingly smelly. I noticed that they cleaned it at the end of the day when I dropped everything off, but apparently the smell still lingers. read more

Not very enthusiastic when I asked the front desk for specific canyonneering/rock climbing. Either the person was high on weed prior to meeting us or something else. I asked about half day full day, pricing, how high do you climb, where we are going and who, exactly how does the package work out, and time estimation; the response was as if I was asking someone who just got caught by the cops for answers; barely no response unless I kept pushing. Even though some of the information I am asking is on the pamphlets, still, come on, you work here, you should know the business inside and out. The price is in the hundreds: $125 for half day, $165 for full day. If I am going to pay that much money for something, I better get some good responses, and enthusiasm. Is that too much to ask for?! These guys are so helpful, I highly recommend coming by to rent gear. My husband really wanted to hike the Narrows, and after seeing the photos, I was convinced it would be nice. However, getting wet was not something I was too thrilled about. He then suggested we rent some waterproof shoes and socks and a hiking pole to make sure we don't step into big holes in the river- great idea, I thought! He found this place through Yelp and I am so glad we came. Because we came during monsoon season, I was a little nervous of the potential of flash floods. When we got to the store the evening before we decided to hike, I was happy to hear that they were not renting any gear due to the storm they anticipate coming in. This gave me a feeling that they were being safe, which is definitely reassurance I needed. The next morning, we got to the store, there was a slight overcast, but they were still renting out gear for hikers that want to hike the narrows. They have a board that gives you the temperature for the day, temperature of the water and recommendations they have. While we were trying on our shoes and socks, someone that works there came by and asked if we plan to hike the narrows. When we said yes, she said that the forecast does seem to indicate that a storm may come rolling in. She recommends that we get out by noon, to be safe. Immediately, I was thinking, wow, THANK YOU for the tip! I'm sure my husband would just keep on going if it was up to him. With that said, we did take her recommendation and headed out of the narrows by noon. When we were heading out, it was indeed sprinkling a little bit. Better safe then sorry right? We were hiking Angel's Landing and had been reading there were a few icy spots lingering and came to rent micro spikes. Do not bother! The tips were broken and dull, we put them on for the small icy spot we came upon and they were totally useless. We would not have been able to do the hike with these if there had been more ice on the trail. Would have brought our own from home but did not think TSA would let them through as we did not check a bag. If you are doing the hike in winter I would buy a new pair to do it safely, renting spikes from this company is a waste of money. read more

We rented two e-bikes and a trailer for the day. The trailer had a max weight of 100 lbs and my 6 and 3 year old easily fit and loved riding in it. The e-bikes made it very fun to bike up and down zion canyon and would allow lots of fitness capabilities to enjoy the day. Biking through the canyon was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. We were able to reserve when we arrived in Springdale with a days notice. My SO has been to Zion twice and pretty much knew what we had to do. We came here to get my gear to hike the narrows. There were chance of rain and one of the workers gave us the speech of flash flooding, then showed us a short video about the narrows. It was informative and funny. We then ran around the store trying out neoprene socks, shoes and dry pants. There are also three macs at the front of the store where you register. The whole process was very fast and efficient. I think we were there around half an hour. To rent dry pants, neoprene socks, and shoes with walking stick is $46. I wore tights underneath and was a bit damp after going into the water but it wasn't bothersome. The socks doesn't keep you dry but warms the water around your feet. I felt the gear was necessary especially since the water in the narrows can get a bit cold. This and the store by the entrance of the park is probably the most popular places to rent the narrows' gear. Return the next day by 7pm. read more

I was debating whether or not to rent gear for The Narrows at all. I thought I could get away with an old pair of running shoes and no stick, but once I got in the water and starting hiking I was so glad I geared up. The footwear package (canyoneering boots, neoprene socks, and hiking stick) were exactly what I needed hiking in the summer. I wore running tights so didn't need the dry pants, but you might want to consider it because the water is chilly even when the rest of the park is 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit. The stick helps tremendously in keeping you stable when trudging through the deep water; the shoes provided ok drainage and good grip on the slippery rocks. Tip: if you're willing to chance it (you never know when The Narrows will be closed due to flash floods), rent the gear the evening before after 5PM. You'll only be charged for the next day (1 day) if you return it before closing, and it'll save you time and you can get a jump start on your early Narrows hike. Staff is helpful and friendly. Most if not everyone that works there has experience hiking in Zion; they're a great resource if you have questions whether it's about the gear or just hiking and the park. read more

First, I'll say Beks is who I spoke with by phone before my trip and she was fantastic!! Excellent experience working with her and getting the information that I needed. Otherwise my experience with this company was less than what I hoped for. Customer service: - I arrived to pick up my gear and the store was not very busy but I had trouble getting any help. The girl who finally helped me acted completely annoyed with her work and did not seem interested in answering questions. - I prepaid and had a receipt but they tried to charge me again. - My sizes were off so I recommend trying on any items in store. Gear: - I ended up with blisters on my toes and some pain from one of the boots sticking into my foot. When I returned the gear I told the staff person this (I was in pain) and asked what might have caused it, he said it could have been sizing but offered no apology. - As an FYI, this is the only local gear rental company that puts the size on the leg of your pants. It felt odd, and it shows up in photos since it's a large sticker with the size written in sharpie. I also had people ask me strange questions on the trail like if I was running a race (looks like a race bib). This may not matter to some people but others might like to know ahead of time. - This company does not offer the overall pants option that others have available, only pants or full bodysuit. There aren't enough words to describe this rockin' company! From the friendly & knowledgeable staff, to the top notch gear rentals and amazing guided adventures. They outfitted us for our whole trip to Zion in October. When you book a trip with them, you know you are getting the most experienced guides. Came in at around 930 on a Sunday morning and didn't need to wait in line to get fitted for boots for the Narrows. Staff was friendly and all wore masks. The boots, socks, and walking stick were perfect for the 11 miles we hiked. If you're going to hike the Narrows, renting this equipment will make the experience way better. read more

Gear wasn't even clean. The suit smelled of sweat/mildew. If you're paying 55$ for a rental I would expect it to not smell. They didn't fully explain how to use the gear as first-timers. I didn't know you were not supposed to wear socks under the neoprene socks, so I ended up wearing socks and they got soaked. read more

We used the services of this company to rent gear for a self-guided Narrows hike a couple months ago, and I'm extremely glad I did. Specifically, I'm really happy for the way they handled telling us to get the "cold weather" gear - going in, after researching online, I figured I'm not a wuss when it comes to cold, they were probably going to hard-sell me the gear, and I was going to decline it and save like 25 bucks a person, just take the shoes and socks. But thankfully, they did *not* hard-sell it, but rather, simply strongly encouraged us to take it, but it was totally up to us, we'd just enjoy it way more, but we can do what we like. They really sounded like they knew what they were talking about instead of just being sales-focused, so we said fine, upgraded to the fancy pants, and I am exceptionally glad that I took them up on that, because those pants really were fantastic - I definitely don't think I would've had nearly as fun a hike if my legs hadn't been totally shielded from the cold (in fact, going in freezing water while wearing those cold-pants, was actively *refreshing*.) The rest of the gear we got was also perfect, as was their advice, too, and we got in and out super quick, so we could be on our way to the hike, which was, seriously, a gloriously cool and entirely unique experience, but one that would've sucked without the right gear. read more

We spent 5 days in Zion NP and Zion Adventure Company really took care of us! Our goals were to hike the Narrows and the Subway, but both require gear, and the latter requires a little rappelling training, along with shuttle rides to get to the far stretches of the park. We set up reservations for everything by phone. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful in getting everything set up. We set up a 5 hour rappelling course that is specifically designed for the Subway, two shuttles, and the gear rental came with the training session. Everything was as advertised, the gear was in good shape, and the shuttles were well organized and right on time. But the best part of our experience with the company was our rappelling course from Bailey. She was GREAT! She's a good communicator, is well organized and understanding for teaching beginners, and was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with. If you're making a trip to Zion and expect to do a little more than walk the easy trails I recommend Zion Adventure Company. read more

Hands down, the most helpful & amazing staff with the best equipment. No one knows this right now but as the parks shuttles are not in service, ZAC shuttles are for just $40 round trip to The Narrows hike drop off. I've done the top down and bottom up hike now & ZAC's shoes are unbeatable. They designed them themselves. They also have E-bikes that will chaaaangeeee your life!! You'll never want to ride a regular bike again. You can actually ride those e-bikes and make it to the top of the mountain in the same amount of time as a shuttle (around 20 -25 minutes). If you walk, it's about 6-7 hours sooo... not sure why someone would choose to walk that but your call Michelle and Rick are the founders & owners and treated us like family. We even finished our Narrows hike early and even though we couldn't squeeze on to the earlier shuttle, Michelle gave us otter pops for the wait and was back to pick us up within 30 minutes!!! That's not even her job but that's the kind of heart she has. We told everyone we know about Zion Adventure Company and couldn't rave about it more!!! read more

My son (14) and I took the Half Day with E-bike tour. It was my first time on the E-bike, so it took me a while to get comfortable riding. Our guide was Tyler who was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. I fell a few times (4 times to be exact) and Tyler was very calm while giving me direction each time. We decided to hike up Angel's Landing, but I couldn't make the hike. So, Tyler kindly continued the hike with my son while I sat back and enjoyed the scenery. Despite all my falls, cuts and bruises, my son and I really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Tyler! Additionally, we took the Narrow's Shuttle the day before and had a great time. Definitely, worth it! My only frustration was that I sent an email (1 week out) and never got my 1-2 day response like the voice mail states to make a reservation in advance. Go canyoneering with Zion Adventure Company! You are part of the adventure. We had a great time! Our guides, Jess and Rachel were outstanding. Our private group was comprised of 4 adults and 3 children (ages 6 - 12). Each person learned how to work with the ropes and use the equipment to safely repel. Instead of the guides setting everything up and just locking us in, we learned a bit about the gear and then set up our own equipment (under the watchful eye of the guides) before we repelled. We felt like we were part of the adventure rather than just going on a ride. I always felt safe and never worried about the safety of anyone in the group. Jess and Rachel were very encouraging and patient with everyone in the group. My young niece wanted to repel, but in the end was too nervous to go by herself. Jess asked if my niece wanted to repel with her. Then it was all smiles as they came down together. My girls were excited to learn how to set the anchors before we descended. One of the guides asked them if they wanted an extra challenge. The girls then maneuvered through a very narrow slot. It was a challenge for each girl, but with encouragement and direction, the guides got them through it. Very cool!
