    Hiking the Narrows at Zion

I did a lot of research before our trip to Zion to figure out the right e-bike place and how to do the Narrows. Just me and an 11 year old going to a place with no reception on e-bikes and a 6 mile hike through a canyon had me a little nervous. After talking to this company on the phone, I felt confident this was the right place. We did the e-bike and bib Narrows package. We tried on the bibs and footwear the night before so we didn't waste time in the morning. It was easy, mostly comfortable, and they took us through the process on how to get to the narrows. My ONLY advice is to NOT do the e-bikes the same day as the narrows. Take the shuttle. You will be EXHAUSTED and the winds are harsh as you bike through. Save the e-bike ride for a different day where you can ride through more casually. We were SO tired when we needed to return. The bibs and narrows hike went well. It is VERY difficult and 6 hours for the shorter version, but worked out well for us. **When I saw other e-bikes from other companies, I would not have wanted to take those. Just fyi... the e-bikes are VERY different from company to company. Ours were pretty new, the charge lasted all day, baskets were handy to story our gear, and a spot for walking sticks. YOU MUST TAKE A WALKING STICK to the Narrows. You will 100% slip and fall and get super freezing wet without one. We saw MANY people fall in the Narrows!

It a five star tour was everything we were hoping to experience. The guide Brittany, was great!. Our group of 4 would recommend and do this tour again. ( now that we know we're to meet) A star was taken away because the directions given, sent us into Bryce Canyon 70 miles away. After several phone calls and rerouting we finally arrived at meeting place and a $50.00 charge for changing arrival time was added to our tour cost.

We are SO glad we went on our adventure to the Narrows in late April for our spring break. This was our family's first trip to Zion (my wife and me, plus our two boys ages 6 and 11). We did some hikes on our first day and then did the Narrows with Zion Adventures for our second day (starting as early as we could, arriving at the location at 7:30 AM). We are so glad we did this, and we are so glad we did it not just with the gear, but with the great team at Zion Adventures for a guided hike. This made it so much easier, safer and more enjoyable for our family: we were in great care from door to door with Jess and Forrest. They helped us with our little six year old as he needed some help with his footing in the river, they showed us the best and safest paths through the canyon, and they were very patient with us and good humored. We couldn't have been in better hands - we are so thankful to them and the team at Zion Adventures! In the words of our 11 year old: "When we first began, we were right in the rental store, and our two guides helped us put on our waterproof equipment, which was simply required for us to wear. When we got started for real, we were on a bit of a long walk, where our two lovely guides showed us the history and scientific properties of what was around us. By the time we reached our first destination, we felt refreshed and ready to begin, and felt this would be a breeze. We were a little off. There were plenty of slippery rocks and both slow and quicker moving water, and multiple areas where the water was ~4 ft deep (which I loved to float in!). Without our guides, it would've been much more difficult for us! Forrest already told us that it was ok if we wished to turn back, which only encouraged us to push on. Our guides really got us out of a pickle, too. Without them, my 6-year old brother would've turned back and took a nap for the rest of the day. They also patiently guided us onward as we sought our victory. The Narrows were quite the challenge, but our guides saved our necks." Thank you Zion Adventures, Forrest and Jess!

Renting eBikes during one of our days in Zion National Park was THE BEST THING EVER - thanks to Zion Adventure. We rode over 30 miles and really experienced the beauty of the park in a unique way. And because we didn't have to wait on the shuttle, we were able to explore 5 trails in one day - including Scouts Lookout and Angel's Landing. The bikes also allowed us the ease of getting in and out of the park for meals - breakfast at Cafe Soleil, lunch at Camp Outpost, and post hiking beers at Zion Canyon Brewpub. The team at Zion Adventure was super helpful, and available when we needed them. We actually had to cancel our original dates due to COVID, and they honored our reservation. Service was top quality. The equipment was in great condition too. When we go back, Zion Adventure will be our #1 choice for bike rentals.

Can you pick up rental gear for narrows the day before?

Yes, I believe so! I would just double check and call to confirm inventory during the busy season. We came the day of for equipment but it was during winter season.

From the moment we met him, Zack MADE the tour. He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and attentive, literally anticipating questions my friend had before they even asked them, which instantly made them feel reassured and comfortable. Even though we switched tours last minute, Zack went above and beyond by giving us a taste of the rock climbing experience while still keeping things manageable and fun. He was super flexible in adapting the pace to what we were comfortable with, and I am so glad we ended up choosing canyoneering. It was the perfect balance of adventure, challenge, and fun without feeling overwhelming. To top it off, Zack told us about a local Peach Festival happening in town and even invited us to check it out, which was such a thoughtful touch that made the whole experience feel personal. Overall, this was one of the best tours I have ever been on. If it is your first time in Zion or you are unsure what to book, trust Rock Odysseys and ask for Zack if he is available. Super laid back and very professional! Depending on the amount of people you with, the price of canyoneering will decrease. Before you go on the trip, make sure you use the bathroom. The drive up to Lambs Knoll was about 30mins and the hike up was about another 30 mins. Instructions and safety took about 10 mins and next thing you know, you're strapped up and ready to go! With a group of 4, Al made each of us feel comfortable on each course. He didn't rush us off the mountain and even offered to continue on to do more rappelling. If we didn't leave our mom on a souvenir shopping spree for 4 hours, I would've agreed for more! He even made me feel all skinny believing that I can squeeze myself between the slot canyons!! Haha! Before I wrap up this novel of a review, I have to say that I will definitely come back here and do the narrows. They offered 10% off our next adventure and 10% off apparel.

Even though they are not doing guides at the Zion itself they are "selling it". Therefore and because the weather forecast did not look to good for the whole area they recommended the north wash area. We went in the same corner were the movie was made with the guy who got stuck in the canyon and cut off his arm. But we did not know that at that time. But here comes the thing they put money first before safety! We asked several times if it is safe to go and if it wouldn't be better to cancel because of weather. They refused. We went in an area he had no clue in which fork we went for Canyoneering. And afterwards I discovered that the locals there had cancelled all trips for that weekend due weather forecast and storm. He put us right into it!!!! We trusted them and their experience!!! They clearly don't have. They may be climbers but that does not help if you don't know the area We spend the night stuck in the canyon after exhausting hours climbing through the canyon through way to narrow spots. And we went right into a flash flood!! And whole night of thunderstorms and rain, clustered together on an edge under us above us everywhere water. Our phones died because our guide did not have light with him and he refused later reimburse our stuff. Our fault he said. Our trip took us almost 30 hours of nightmare. And next morning a rescue team where on their way to look for us not because the company was worried no because nice people next to our camping ground realized we did not come back before the storm started. Make sure you book trip with locals and they do trips in an area they really know! By they way we did not get an apology just a free trip for a better experience instead of money back (we asked for our money back to donate somewhere because they clearly did not deserve it)! I was actually pretty excited to see "The Grotto," imagining some mossy little cave or rock formation that we'd get to hike into. Nope! Turns out, the Grotto Trail is named for The Grotto, which is simply the destination at the end of the trail--not a cave or grotto at all. So, false advertising in my imagination. Once we figured that out, we enjoyed the easy, shaded trail. There's plenty of beautiful scenery along the way, and we even spotted a family of three deer hanging out alongside the trail, which was definitely a highlight. Overall, it's a great easy hike if you're looking for something relaxing without a lot of elevation gain.
