I would give my rental experience 0 stars if I could. I rented their boots and socks for the narrows hike. About 8 miles into my hike I felt a lot of stinging pain around the ankles where the rental shoe lays at the top. My boyfriend realized that it was because the socks are too short and his were past the top of his boots. The Narrows hike is hard enough as it it because we did the 16 mile one starting from the top. With the friction of the water my ankles turned out like this. My boyfriend's shoelaces on his rental shoes kept coming apart and he kept having to adjust them. There were holes in the shoes near the toes. It was such a pain to constantly stop and I honestly cried because of the pain and stress of the hike. You're in water in the canyons all day and cannot really go anywhere on top of pain from rental gear. This hike takes 11-12 hours to complete. We got to the top of the mountain by their shuttle at 8am and somehow they expected us to return their gear by 8pm, which is when they close. By the time we were finished, hiked to the shuttle back to the visitor center, then took another shuttle back to the store, it was about 8pm, which we were lucky. We tried to tell the employees about my ankle and they were just quick to push us out because they were closing and say a quick sorry. The guy that was working the closing shift in the return area (Tuesday, August 6, 2019) said that the smaller socks they cut down to make it easier to put on. That completely defeats the purpose of them and was the reason why my shoes were scraping against my whole ankle. I am EXTREMELY upset as it caused so much pain and now scarring. They didn't even care to help us about it as the employees only cared about leaving. If you rent from them in the future, PLEASE be extra aware of what you are getting. read more

Getting there: Zion Adventure Company is located right off the main road, on your left hand side if you're heading East. Experience: We used this company to rent our materials to hike the Narrows as well as get shuttled into the park. This company requires you to pick up your gear the day before, if you are heading up earlier than their opening time. However, we forgot to pick up our gear the day before, and they were very nice at letting us pick up our when we arrived and still make our shuttle time. The gear we rented held up very well as we hike through the Narrows. We paid about $50 for the gear and the ride to the trailhead. Tips: - Don't forget to grab your gear the day before! read more

This place is absolutely Amazing. Not only do you get gear at a reasonable price but you also get a brief about conditions, warning etc. the staff is absolutely amazing even when they are slammed they give you their undivided attention. If you have littles they have the selection for you, my 4YO was able to get shoes for the narrows and a backpack carrier for my 2YO. I highly recommend them they're open late so rentals are not hard to return and they have their own parking so you don't have to pay or go looking for spots to get in. read more

Me and my boyfriend decided on a whim to rent some bikes and explore Zion, even though neither of us had ridden a bicycle in over 10 years (nearly 16 years for myself). We stumbled upon ZAC and nervously walked in, where we were immediately greeted by a staff member, and very friendly so. We inquired about renting some bikes and within 10 minutes we were sitting on our very own pair, all ours for the day, for only about $100 bucks. First, let me start this review with a note of encouragement. If you're doubting your ability to do the narrows, yes you can! Take it slow and you'll be fine. It is an extremely doable hike with a very "choose your own adventure", as you can turn around at any point. Now that you're convinced, head to Zion Adventure company. I spent a great deal of time researching the various dry-suit rental businesses in the area (and there are a lot) and landed on this one. Every interaction with this business that ensued confirmed my choice. We drove from Colorado to Zion and had one day to do the Narrows. We got to Zion at 1pm after driving close to 9 hours and were told the scenic drive was closed to traffic due to parking restrictions. That's when Eric stepped in and offered a shuttle ride, which commenced quite literally the best customer experience I have ever had in my life. Not only was Eric the ultimate hype man for the narrows, but provided a solution to our problem by offering to shuttle us to the top of the route, despite us being the only customers in the store at the time. If you come outside of peak season, know that there are no public shuttle buses (they begin on 3/11 this year and we were there 3/6). However, Eric was able to shuttle us, all well giving an epic tour of the scenic road on the park, offering tips and tricks, and recommendations for further hikes. We did the Narrows and Eric promptly picked us up and enthusiastically continued to give recommendations, including dinner, which we took him up on. I will definitely be coming back to Zion when I have more time (this was just a quick stop on a road trip) and doing some rock climbing. I will 100% be back at ZA for that. read more

Even though we came early in the day to pick up gear for the following day, they still let us pick up the gear so we didn't have to come back again. They made it very easy to pick out the gear we needed and package pricing for the Narrows gear rental was a great value. From the phone call weeks ago to the in person service, nothing but A+ customer service!! We, a group of 8 females, came to Zion to celebrate my sisters bachelorette party. I had a lot of planning to do and was nervous about putting this all together for a large group. I came across Zion Adventure alongside many other adventure companies. Zion Adventure Company seemed to be the only business to run like an actual business and take themselves seriously. I called a few times and all times they answered the phone, were professional and answered all my questions. I wouldn't have been able to complete the full top-down Narrows hike if it weren't for the Zion Adventure Company! My group of 6 all rented the footwear package, which included the Canyon Shoes, Neoprene Socks, and a Hiking Pole and bought the shuttle ride to Chamberlain's Ranch as well. Hiking the Narrows with all 3 made me feel safe, protected, and invincible (like I was walking on water lol!). The canyon shoes weren't the most comfortable shoes ever but they were pretty durable the whole 2 days of hiking in the water and on gravel. Not all canyon shoes are perfect though so make sure they fit you and are comfortable when you try them on at the store before going to the Narrows! One of my friend's pair of canyon shoes were hurting her the 2nd day and she ended up hating them. Fortunately, mine were okay. After completing the full top-down Narrows hike, I can't imagine hiking the Narrows with any other shoes, socks, or hiking pole. The shoes and socks are really waterproof since they are meant to be in the water, and the socks keeps you warm. The hiking pole is very sturdy when using against strong water current. If you're using your normal hiking pole, it might break so I recommend renting their hiking pole if you can! All their gear will help you out a lot!! If you're in need of other supplies and food then this store has everything you need before your hike as well! Everyone at the store are very friendly and helpful as well. I'm glad I came here to rent the hiking boots, neoprene socks and hiking stick for the Zion National Park Narrows hiking! With tax, it cost about $25 for the rental and I was able to pick them up the day before my hike. The people working here were nice and informative. We watched a video about the Narrows, which gave us an idea what we were in for. Then we tried on socks and shoes and picked out a hiking stick. The process was efficient and easy. The shoes were comfortable and really made my hike enjoyable through the cold water of the Narrows. I'm not sure how other people hiked in regular hiking shoes and even flip flops! Rented boots, socks and walking poles today and took their shuttle up to the Narrows. I have to say they are doing a great job dealing with the Covid pandemic. All there staff has masks. They even have 'clean' pens and 'dirty' pens on the counter. On both our shuttle rides everyone was wearing masks. Definitely making everyone feel safe. Before we booked our trip we went to another outfitter in Springdale that offers cheaper shuttle rides; but no one there were wearing masks. When I asked them if their drivers wear masks; they said no. Even though ZAC was a little more; I'm willing to pay more for peace of mind. Amazing company, amazing guides, exceeded expectations We made last minute plans to visit Zion in June & found that this company had spots for Angel's landing hike. Since my party of 2 is outdoorsy but hadn't been active over the pandemic, I was afraid we might slow down the group. I called the customer service & they helped calm my nerves and explained how the hike is also a tour with guides explaining the flora, plants & any questions you may have about Zion. We joined a party of 3 others and had a good time hiking up. Our guides, John & Sophie were fabulous. We gathered a lot of information. Once at the Scott's lookout, my family didn't feel too keen to go up Angel's. The guides, John & Sophie, didn't force us but gave us enough encouragement & data points that made us go up. And boy!! glad we did. All the youtube videos with fish eye lens make it seem scarier than it is. The guides helped us understand the technique, paced us with other hikers on the route and showed grace to others by allowing folks to pass by. Impressed with the service, we decided to join the vis ferrata tour the next day. It was MIND BLOWING. John helped us get on the tour last minute. We got lucky with the owners, Rick & Michelle, joining us for that tour. We also have Bill as our guide. Bill & his team have constructed the via ferrata route. We learnt so many cool things about being safe on via ferrata & enjoying the steep climbs. Overall, the company is run and operated by folks who are not just professionals & the best in their field but they also really really kind human beings. The amount of patience, understanding they showed us is unparalleled. We will be back at Zion for other adventure tours with this company. read more

A friend and I booked the Eye of the Needle tour and were paired up with 2 others and the masterful Assam as our guide. Add, transitions, and subtract...sounds pretty easy right. Maybe it was the lack of oxygen since we all live at sea level, but some of us just couldn't get it. Rather than be traumatized us with something we weren't ready for, the group opted for a slower paced, but no less enjoyable canyoneering day were we could build skills and bond. That's were Assam introduced us to flat-footing, chimneying, rappelling, and stemming. Traveling down a slot canyon felt like the birth canal, and I popped out the opening reborn. I plan of arranging future trips with lots more canyoneering. We laughed, we cried from the heights, we peed our pants a little. All the things that make for an unforgettable adventure that will burn brightly in our minds until the day we die which thankfully didn't happen because of Assam's ability to mitigate risk. We are all better people for having gone through this journey together, and we have Zion Adventure Company and more importantly Assam to thank for it. Don't hesitate to book a tour. The Narrows gear. Very easy to make reservations. We picked up our gear right away and they were very helpful in showing how to maximize the use of the waterproof pants. My husband and I stayed dry the entire time even when the water went up to our waist. The neoprene socks and hiking boots are meant to get wet and there's no way to avoid your feet getting wet no matter what you use. They did help in preventing blisters and having traction on the slippery rocks. It was about 70 degrees during our hike so the water was a little chilly but we were very comfortable the entire tome. Walk out of the shop and across the street then you get on one of the free town shuttles. They will take you to the Zion shuttles. Ride that one till the end and you're ready to go! read more

Only downside for this place is that they don't offer an after hours drop off for their equipment, so be aware of their hours if you plan on leaving the area right after an all day hike like Narrows Top-Down. Trust me, you won't regret this. Obviously, having the right equipment is essential, and ZAC specializes in whatever you will need for your Zion experience, including the Narrows. Honestly, I was a little skeptical about hiking a river, but it was a walk in the park thanks to the neoprene socks, canyon shoes, Gore-Tex pants, and walking stick. ZAC asked us to be back by 7 pm, but we didn't make it back until after 7:30. Expert advice on whether or not to go to Angels Landing first or the Narrows. Additionally, I also took a great deal of time to make sure we were fitted properly for all the gear to go into the Narrows. And, we were the last people out of the Narrows, it was getting cold and obviously wet, by the time we got back it was too late, they were closed. Nevertheless, we were there the next morning, not even early, but later in the morning and they did not charge us extra. At this time of the year they weren't packed, it would've been a shitty thing to charge us extra, but they could've and they didn't. They were just very helpful all the way around read more

This review is for Coyote Gulch (March): For $750 per person, we spent three days (two nights) hiking Coyote Gulch (Mid March) with a camping guide. Almost all the equipment was provided and there was no need to study a map. Everyone had a great time, learned a lot about camping, saw a lot of beautiful nature-y landscapes and structures, and became inspired to camp/hike more often. What made our experience just that more memorable was our awesome guide, Rich M. (aka Backpacking Czar). He was friendly, knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, and truly lived up to his title. We asked him a bunch of questions related to camping/gear/packing/safety throughout our trip and he enjoyed answering each one. This was really helpful because we all wanted to go camping on our own in the future so it was a good educational experience. When it came to directions/routes and best camping spots, he knew it all. There was no need for us to do any extensive research or worry about getting lost without food or water. This is a guy who truly loves his job and knows what he is doing. His enthusiasm towards the great outdoors is inspiring and catchy. The trip would not have been the same without him. Thanks Rich! Ride towards Trail head for a good (bumpy) while. -Once arrived, perform final gear pack and start hiking! Where do you poop? You poop in a bag and carry it out with you. It may sound nasty, but it's actually not that bad. The bag is double sealed, comes with sanitary wipes, and is designed for human (solid) waste. Inside the bag comes with toilet paper and sanitary wipes. You gotta go when you gotta go! If you truly can't do the bag route, they have one (very nice and clean) out house style restroom during the hike. You just have to plan your "routine" with the hiking schedule so you reach that spot when nature calls. read more

I really appreciate their team's sincerity and thoroughness with safety. I had the BEST time hiking thru the narrows with my guide Will. Will was so knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, super easy to talk to and get to know and made sure I was comfortable. Hiking in Zion in the winter is probably one of the most breathtaking experiences, but it can also be one of the most slippery and freezing one as well. That is why Zion Adventure Company is a must-visit when you are doing any of the hikes in Zion, and especially if you are hiking the Zion Narrows. You can choose to do the full-suit up and rent a dry suit, neoprene socks, canyoneering shoes, a walking stick, and backpack for about $60-70 and you're almost guaranteed to fare pretty well on your hikes. I rented the whole package to hike the narrows and the staff here was extremely helpful! They also have rental gear for your shoes if you just want to do some basic hiking but don't want to slip and fall down. These spikes that you attach to your shoes will give you much better stability! Trying out the suits/shoes and sitting through their educational video will take up almost 45 minutes to an hour, so make sure to account for that in your arrival time to start hiking. Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and enjoy the hikes! read more
