Awesome experience - I did a 1:1 private canyoneering full day adventure. I was hesitant to do something as a single traveller/private, but now I am happy I did. Worth the $ for an awesome experience, and not being with a group made it easier to do a lot of stuff and have a flexible experience. My guide was Josh and he was really friendly and beyond competent - I felt safe with all the adventures we went on in and out of slot canyons, and all kinds of technical gear/activities, and driving around the wilds of the greater Zion area.

Andy was the best guide we could have asked for! He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with me when I got nervous. We did the Yankee Doodle Canyon, and it was so fun! It was like going through a playground!

Just so we're clear here... "this Canyoneering was an absolutely most amazing experience" ... the hiking, traversing through the canyons, and then rappelling large steep cliffs.. an absolute wonderful experience and all made possible with having an amazing and professional guide, "Andy" ... From my family to you, we thank you for your Patience, Professionalism and Knowledge you shared throughout the day. Family of 4 (wife and I along with 14 yr. twin boys). We did a full day of Canyoneering, saw the most amazing mountain formations, canyons and forestry one could only imagine... Andy took us for a journey and we won't ever forget what we experienced. We were made comfortable which eliminated our fear in rappelling down mountains (I'm 6'5" and a lean 290 lbs.)... Andy re-assures me nothing would ever go wrong, and nothing ever did, at the end of the day!! My wife and kids wore a smile on their face all day as we ventured through these mountains. Safety was a concern at first, but with Andy's guidance and knowledge, we washed away those thoughts every step of the way following his lead and direction. he did a great job in allowing us to be ourselves and be creative with our own techniques, rather than being a teacher the entire time... he showed us once or twice and that's all we needed for us to all just enjoy, rappelling, hiking and being adventurous... we all felt like "Indiana Jones " haha... can't wait to do this again very soon! We recommend and refer you to choose Andy as your guide and Red Desert Adventures as your company of choice for Canyoneering in Red Canyon...

We did a canyoneering adventure that brought us to a beautiful slot canyon. I am not super athletic and this tested me physically and mentally, but everything was doable. Our guide Jack was patient and knowledgeable. My teenage boys and adventure-seeking husband loved this excursion. They were challenged and had a great time. Each trip is different depending on group size, weather, location, etc. Our trip to Yankee Doodle Canyon began with two big rappels. We needed the rope to assist with some areas of down climbing/stemming. The hike out at the end was some easy rock climbing/scrambling, but it was going up so it was strenuous.

Enjoyed our canyoneering trip with our exceptional guide Graham!

Enjoyed our canyoneering trip with our exceptional guide Graham! He explained everything made sure we felt safe & stayed safe the entire way. He even made us laugh along the way! Can't wait to come back!

Just wrapped up an awesome canyoneering trip!!!! Love the private small tour. Jack is a great guide - 30+ years of experience - calm and make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying trip. He is also a great photographer. If you are considering canyoneering, Red Desert is the only way to go.

Graham showed us some amazing sights and helped us overcome our fears! Highly recommend this adventure! Canyoneering!

First time to Zion and first time climbing/rappelling for most of our group of 8. We did the hybrid full-day and couldn't have had a better time. Perfect amount of adventure with the best guides. Jake & Ethan were phenomenal! They tailored the day perfectly to our group and accommodated the super cold day by choosing a great warm spot for climbing that challenged our experienced rock climber and novices alike. Owner was super responsive and even tried to reschedule because we had a sick kiddo. We highly recommend and would sign up again next time we're in town. Happy Adventuring!

Nathan was great! He took us to nearby canyons for our half day canyoneering trip. We "defied death" scrambling up rocks and rappelling down canyon walls. He provided the equipment, a safe environment and great stories. Definitely put us at ease and it was definitely tailored to "have fun canyoneering" rather than, here is an intro course so that you can be the next Alex Honnold of canyoneering. (If that's a thing..) and this is definitely the right approach to since we were there to enjoy what Zion had to offer with the limited time we had. (He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off too.) Thanks Nathan! We will be back for more and maybe we will try rock climbing next time!!!! He brought us around in orange crocs. Probably the highlight of the day.

We did a wonderful short day canyoneering trip with Red Dessert. Our guide, Nathan, picked us up at our hotel and we drive out to Lamb's Knoll just outside the western edge of the park. He provided instructions on climbing up to the canyon entrance and rappelling instruction when it was time to head down. He engendered confidence in our group so that we unanimously elected for the taller of the final rappel options. Everyone had a great time and said they would do it again. All in all, a great experience. I only wish we'd had enough time to do the full day trip.

    Safety first ... yes! She's 6

We were a family group of 6 with ages ranging from 6-60. Matt was a great guide. Very patient! With a keen sense of safety. We all had a superb time. We would highly recommend Canyoneering. We had never done it before and Matt took great care of us. Giving us just enough adventure and push. What great memories we made!

Amazing! My fiance and I wanted to do a canyoneering trip while we were in Zion. There were so many companies to choose from, but we ultimately ended up choosing Red Desert for two reasons: 1) they do not charge extra to keep tours private (other companies did) 2) their website was the most descriptive and enticing. We were thrilled with our choice, especially when we encountered some other guides from other companies during our trip. The price is high- 500$ for two people- but that seems to be pretty standard for what it is and it felt reasonable due to what we got out of the day. We did the Advanced Canyoneering experience in early October with Nathan and ended up in Water Canyon and part of Black Canyon. For some background, both my fiance and I are rock climbers, so we both went in knowing how to rappel and aren't really phased by heights. Nathan is wonderful! He knew so much about the area, was super friendly, and really safe. Basically, it felt like an awesome trip with a friend- a friend that we had paid $500 for- but a friend nonetheless. And the sport itself was so cool! We opted for lots of water obstacles since that is not something we can do on a normal day and had a blast! Gorgeous scenery, challenging yourself, exploring canyons, and 200 foot rappels... What more could ya want?

This is not that your: upon meeting Dave he never asked a person in our group their name although he did ask the youngest member (early 30 female) if she had a boyfriend or husband and if she wanted one. There is a $30 mandatory cash tip added to the total of the jeep trip that is asked for immediately upon entering the jeep and going in Dave's (who is the owner ) pocket. The trip consisted of a four hour long stream on consciousness about how the Mormon religion is based on lies, his alcoholic and drug addicted family, how his sister killed his mom, how he was adopted, his two autistic sons, his "retarded" best friend who stole his wife's gun, and his current wife that is his 2cd, 3rd, and 4th wife. A few names of plants were dotted into the guided tour before we learned about aliens and other things in the universe. He made inappropriate jokes about other tour companies and doing drugs, seeing naked woman sun bathing, among endless other comments. The view from the top of Smithsonian Butte was beautiful, but not worth it. This tour was the worst part of the trip.

It is an exceptionally well designed park with the free town and park shuttle system that centers at the Visitor Center and has many paved trails. - As you drive into Zion, you will go through the Zion-Mt Carmel tunnel - a 1.1 mile pitch black dark tunnel with no lighting, just a few windows of the stunning mountains as you drive through - The park and shuttles are free! Stay in Springdale for the closest location. The Best Western was very nice and Shuttle stop 4 - Favorite easy trails in my order of preference: -- Riverside Walk (2.2 miles, 57 ft elevation change, 1.5 hours) - paved path along the Virgin River in a Canyon -- Pa'rus Trail (1.7 or 3.5 miles, 50 ft elevation change, 1-2 hours) - start at park shuttle stop #3 (Canyon Junction-shuttle only stops going downhill - Not from the Visitor Center) for a 1.7 mile walk on a paved trail near the Human History museum, past the campgrounds and to the visitor center. I had to sign a waver to get the proper wear for the trek, they offer special water-resistant (not water proof) socks and boots, and a walking stick. Hiking the narrows was very enjoyable, a fun challenge with amazing views of the massive canyon wall on either side of the trail. The current was decently strong, and the rocks in the river where slippery at points, which made the walking stick crucial for balance. The water was waist high at it's deepest point, but it really depends on the weather at the time. Lots of cool rock formations and vegetation around each corner in the narrows. The staff was amazing, bus drivers where great, and the ladies at the visitor center where helpful. Parking was a nightmere though, but it wasn't the fault of the park itself. At the time I went it was packed. Would certainly recommend you visit this place, just make sure you visit when it has been dry for the last few days with no rain in the forecast, which reduces the risk of flash flooding and too strong currents in the narrows. Have fun!
