I had such a great experience at Zion Nail Salon! The staff was quick, friendly, and really took care of me while I was there. I especially appreciated that they weren't pushy about add-ons or upselling, which is honestly rare to find in nail salons. I went in for a basic pedicure ($40) and added shellac for $20. I personally think the price is very fair for the service and quality. The salon itself is beautiful inside--clean, modern, and relaxing. So far I've only tried a pedicure, but I'm already looking forward to coming back to get my hands done here soon, and maybe even try a waxing service. I visited for the first time and the salon itself is very clean, welcoming, and friendly. However, I was surprised by several parts of my experience. For the pedicure, the chair didn't heat the water, and after about 15 minutes they had to use an electric kettle to warm it. I then waited almost another 20 minutes before any pedicure steps continued. My nails weren't clipped, calluses weren't addressed, and the massage was extremely light. The polish selection was great, but the paint job wasn't very consistent. For my manicure and nail set, the final result was pretty and well-shaped, but it wasn't what I asked for -- even the colors ended up very different from the reference. I did really like the clear, thin press-on style they used, but I wish the airbrush work had matched the design I showed more closely. Overall, the staff was kind, and the space is lovely, but the timing, technical consistency, and attention to detail weren't what I expected for a first visit. read more

I do recommend getting there earlier in the day or making an appointment because it does get busy quickly but I've never had a long wait even as a walk in. I recently moved to the area and wanted to try this salon out. I've been to Zion Nails and Waxing twice so far. I get my nails done faithfully every 3-4 weeks and have been doing so in the San Antonio area for over 14 years at top-notch salons in The Dominion, Stone Oak, Medical Center, Cibolo, and beyond. I've never had an issue paying for quality service, but I do have a concern when it feels like I'm being "nickeled and dimed." I wear my natural nails in a stiletto shape, and they are not excessively long. During my last two visits at Zion Nails and Waxing, several additional $5 charges were added(for basic services and no designs) bringing my total to about $25 more than I've ever paid anywhere else in San Antonio for essentially the same services. Before I commit to returning and before I recommend this nail salon to people in my network, I wanted to better understand the pricing structure. I politely asked for clarification on the fees. They were polite in their explanation of the additional and excessive fees and I appreciate the explanation. However, I also understand that I have many other options. read more
