They will break all your buttons and zippers and when they replace your buttons, they give you a different color or style that doesn't match. They ruined my new dress shirts that I didn't get to wear at all. I'm surprised they're even in business. I haven't been to this place ever since. The value you're paying for is just not worth it. I called around to several cleaners to find out how much it would cost to hem up four pairs of pants with two of them being blue jeans. I had several quotes of $20 a pair, in some quotes of $22. When I called zips, they quoted me $14 for pants, and $18 for blue jeans as the material is heavier. . I went to the zips in Germantown I went to the located in Germantown, and they had a seamstress on site. She measured all four pants and I paid $64 total. I brought the pants in on good and was told that they would be ready the following Friday. I received a text message the Monday after Easter saying my pants were ready. The pants fit perfectly and we're well done. I would recommend this location and seamstress. Best price, professionally done, and delivered quickly. read more

I use the dry cleaning service regularly and have no complaint against them. This review for the tailor. Today(Jan. 22) I took my winter puffer jacket with a broken zipper to see if the tailor could fix it. She was talking on the phone the entire time of my experience. One of the Zips employees came to interpret and ask her if she could take a look at it. The employee mentioned that the tailor does not do this work as it is tedious but would take a look. The tailor fiddled with the zipper , and used a hand tool like a clamp to tighten the zip closure that had come out from the housing. She then closed and opened the coat to ensure it worked and had me do it too. Guess how much she charged me for 5 minutes - $10.00!!! I wish I had asked! WARNING: BAIT & SWITCH SALES / ALTERATION TACTICS! I wanted to have an open kimono top sewn up 10 inches total on each side to close the sides. I called yesterday. The person who answered the phone quoted $14.00, saying it would probably be the same price as hemming a pair of pants which they charge $14 for that service. That sounded fair because most pairs of pants openings would actually be about the same inches, but after I went there, they SWITCHED PRICES & gave me a price quote of $20 for EACH SIDE OF THE BLOUSE = $40. I tried to explain that hemming a pair of pants is the same total length. The employee tried tell me the seamstress had to sew up one side and then stop to do the other side of the blouse, and I explained that if she were hemming a pair of pants, they have two legs. They'd have to have one leg and then do the other leg. Same thing! Doesn't make any sense. In any event, I just took my garments and left. Terrible experience. Never going back. read more

Took them my white fur coat that had red lipstick all over it and I didn't think they were going to be able to get the job done but they did! My coat looked brand new and they did it in less than 24 hours and the price was great! Get there first thing in the morning and they'll have it ready by the afternoon. The Germantown Branch has been really good to deal with! Staff is always helpful. The last time, there were several large spots of spicy on my cashmere sweater. I just barely made myself avoid trying to treat the stains (at least 5 of at least an inch in size)! They got all of it out! The manager here is very rude. I needed Same day service and was on my way to be there way before 9 so I can get the cloths by 5. But unfortunately there was heavy traffic on 270 and when I got there and stood in line it was 9:01 so I requested the cashier if they could still give me same day service. She looks at me blank and then asks the manager who was standing next to her. I tried to tell him that I needed some of the clothing for this evening. He seemed clearly annoyed and tells me "so you need the cloths tonight and you waited last minute and proceeds to tell me this is the last time!" Did I really need that lecture? They returned 2 shirts to me with broken buttons. They offered to replace the buttons for me but when I went back to pick them up next day I realized they only replaced broken buttons with very different type of buttons that didnt even looked liked shirt's original buttons. When I asked why they picked different buttons their excuse was that they didnt have same kind so they picked whatever they had. Basically my $100 shirt after 2 times wearing turned into unwearable shirt till I find buttons they broke on my own and replace them. ZIP Germantown is currently holding my blazer FOR MORE THAN 1 WEEK which they admitted they damaged during the cleaning process. Apparently the blazer was damaged with ink. I came to the location twice and was told the same thing that I had to wait for them to fix it. If it has been a week and it was not fixed, what another week could possibly do? Today on 08/18 I was told to wait another week for them to get rid of stains THAT THEY THEMSELVES MADE during the cleaning process. When I asked that I wish to be contacted for resolution, no one called me. Manager Mike X whose card I was given did not call me. Almost 2 weeks in, I still have no blazer and unclear as of what these "cleaners" are trying to accomplish by holding my apparently damaged item. If I do not get my jacket IN PROPER condition or full reimbursement of the cost of it which is about $100, I will file complaints wherever I can. I shouldn't go to this place I regretted so bad. I used to go Asian cleaner till my friend told about the place because cheap prices. I was a little nervous so I told myself I will give for the first time fews item, but instead of giving them cheaper clothes I gave them expensive clothes that I usually buy from Tyson corner. There I a missing hold part on one the blazer when I ask the Manager Mike he told me he will look but at the end of the day if they don't fine it they are not responsible without no excuses. Mike one of the other owners sent me a video of the encounter from the time it was dropped off to where it was tagged which showed clearly there was a tear in the shorts when taken out of the bag. I don't know what people who give Zips a really low score are measuring against. Zips is the like 'McDonalds' of dry cleaning. It's fast, very competitively priced, and 95% consistent. In the decade or so that I have used their service the have damaged maybe one shirt (the shirt was still wearable), lost one shirt (they compensated me). I have no complaints with the quality of the laundering or dry cleaning, certainly at the price they charge relative to most other dry cleaners. Every time I have gone gone back to 'regular' dry cleaners, I have been disappointed in the service and I have receive that usually surly service at a substantially higher price, with longer turnarounds. I normally like to support small businesses even at a premium, but I have been generally disappointed over the course of many decades by most of them. So Zips franchises have been able to win my business and their positives have outweighed the very occasional negative experience. read more

My daughter took her quality trousers to ZIPS Cleaners in Germantown, Maryland. I must say she did not want to take her well made pants there however I convinced her to do so. She specifically told the person at the counter to "dry clean" her linen pants. Upon picking up her order, she discovered not only did they wash her pants against her request but the quality of the pants were ruined and several inches shorter (shrunk). The worst part was the manager disputed me extensively saying it was her fault because they decided to wash the pants ignoring her request to have them dry cleaned. His only solution was to offer her a $60 credit. What good would that do considering my daughter vowed to never go there again. The reality is, they ruined her pants and blamed their mistake on her! Inexpensive prices, no wait time and convenient to get your dress clothes and jackets done. Sometimes, parking can be a hassle if it's during busy time in the afternoons after 5:00 PM, or on weekends. But other than that, it's nearby, so pretty easy to drop off clothes and pick up in a day or 2. Not pricey like some other dry cleaning shops and they do a very good job. read more

Classic case of you get what you pay for. I brought 3 pieces to this location and when I came to pick them up I noticed one skirt was still dirty with the same large stains I brought them in with. I left the rest of the items in my car until I went to pick up the skirt they were re-cleaning. Once I brought all 3 in the house I noticed another stain on another pair of pants that had been "cleaned." In my mind if 2/3 items were not cleaned properly the place is no good. Count your items before you put your clothes in the ZIPS in Germantown. On several occasions my clothes were not ready on time. I had missing items and had to return to retrieve them. Twice I receive someone's dry cleaning THAT DIDNT BELONG TO ME ! Take your clothes to Alterations Cleaners located in the same mall. It will cost more but at least you will have your dry cleaning with no drama. I going to invest in a bottle of Woolite and wash my clothes myself. SORRY !!! read more
