The cashier or intake person who was a middle aged woman was very rude. I don't know if they were short staffed but she was rushing every customer. When it was my turn to be helped, she didn't even hear me out she just kept saying what's your number. Once I gave it to her and she realized I was a new customer, she asked me why I was there. I told her I needed to get a blazer tailored. She said we don't do that, you got to go somewhere else. But according to the website, tailoring is offered under services. Don't do it. Yes, the price is cheap (3 dresses cleaned for $10.00). That should have been the red flag I needed to take the dresses and run. However, these were inexpensive dresses purchased from Ross that I just wanted cleaned before wearing. Anyway, first problem, I was told that pickup would be on Wed after 5 pm. I returned on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. Of course, they were not ready. Apparently, some computer glitch. I sent my husband to pick them up on Friday after 1:00 p.m. They couldn't find 2 of them and asked him to describe. He had to call me (I'm working), to describe the dresses. We used the ZIPS in Newport News VA. We're visiting from out of state for wedding and needed my wife's dress and my white shirt pressed, that's all we needed. We drove around and stopped by a couple of places, one guy said it'd be very expensive if we wanted clothes back the following day, the next stop the guy looked at me like I was from another planet. So I asked my phone for some help and ZIPS was one of the places that came up, so I called there. The lady that answered the phone was so nice and helpful, I looked no further. We dropped the items off shortly after the phone call and picked them up the next day. The staff were extremely courteous, informative, and helpful! Excellent job too. If wish there were more cleaners like ZIPS, every town should have one! Oh, and by the way, as far as being very expensive like the other guy said, ZIPS was 6 bucks and change!!! I went there multiple times to have the issue resolved and I was told I needed to speak with the manager who was never available. The company was then brought out in December, it is January and no one has tried to resolve the problem. My wife had a bad experience this morning dropping off my suit and shirts with a rude employee. Then when I picked up this evening, I had one of if not the rudest employees of any business I have ever had. When you enter the business, the floor was so wet (It has been raining) that I thought the roof was leaking at first. No effort made to mop the floor was made! Then the young man behind the counter was yelling to myself and another customer that we were standing in the wrong place! It was not clear where the line started as there were orange cones set up. All this place does is close down. They don't carry regular hours. They give you one hour to pick up your clothes as they are not ready until after 5, and they close at 6. Then they're closed literally every time you go. The hours say they open at 7 am. They do not. I have to drive cross country today, and there are people in the store at 7:05 am. They said they're not opening today until 8:00. I begged them to just pick up my clothes and they said no. They don't care a thing about their customers. Avoid at all costs. read more

We've complained several times about the tag ties currently being used. Despite, numerous complaints, no action has been taken. These are extremely challenging to remove. They pose a liability as it's quite easy to cut your hand when doing so. I would not recommend utilizing this Zips unless you have no expectations as it relates to customer service. read more

This place has become such a dump. They've lost my comforter and my dress. They're disrespectful and can't seem to complete such minimal tasks with tracking your clothes. After pulling my dress from the dirty clothes and "steaming the wrinkles off because it got wrinkled again" they said it was cleaned and it was in fact not. I watched them pull it out from the dirty bin after giving them 10 days to do it and STILL couldn't do that. They then went on to tell me it was "rejected" after telling me it was cleaned because they couldn't clean it. So why lie about what's clean and what isn't? I came in to get my clothes and the dark skin dude working the front counter was rude a fuck because Zip cleaners lost 5 pieces of my clothes because someone forgot to number a group of my clothes that contain 5 pieces of my clothing. They wouldn't go searching for them and saying that I would have to wait until Monday when the manager comes in. I asked for their manager names and he gave me one of the manager's name ( Kizzy) and then going to tell me that he is not going to give me his name which I didn't ask for. This guy wouldn't even make an effort to search for my clothes because he didn't want to do his job and look for my clothes. The other guy working the counter was a little more helpful but wouldn't go search for my clothes but he provided me with the other manager's name (Linwood). Zip Cleaners has to do better in job in training their employees and in customer service. Over the years, Zip Cleaners has lost my clothes. It was resolved by them searching for them or paying for my clothing that went missing. This is definitely my last time having Zip Cleaners to clean my clothes. I'm personally quite a fan of Zips dry cleaning and use them almost exclusively for all my clothing needs. This location seems to consistently let me down with poor customer service. The final straw with me happened on October 16th when I received a text that my clothes were ready for pickup ( a suit I needed for that evening). When I arrive at the store, I find nobody working regardless of the store hours and the fact that somebody clearing processed my clothing earlier in the day. Dozens of people have come and gone trying to pick up clothes, many of whom have received similar messages. I understand if the store needed to close, but a sign on the door would have been nice. Will not be using this location, and perhaps Zips, again. Your money would be better spent at a mom and pop shop, where you will be treated with consistent respect. Poor form Zips! read more

I went to these cleaners on July 19, and they told me that my clothes would be done on 7/22 and that was also the date on my ticket. I went back on 7/23 to pick up my clothes and they told me that they were not done, to come back tomorrow. I called first on Wednesday 7/24, and they told me that I picked up my clothes on 7/23. But some of my order is done and come pick it up. I was so very confused, I said that I will handle this in person. These company has no idea what they are doing, and I have no idea how they are staying in business. They asked if I was married and if my wife picked up my clothes yesterday. Why would you give my clothes to someone else and why would you tell me that they are done. They put my clothes on all different tickets. They lost my order, and I waited 45 mins for them to find some of my items. I will never go back to this place; they told me to take pictures of my clothes before I drop them off. This company is a joke. They get you in with the low prices, but for the trouble, I will go back to my other cleaners and pay more. Trash was everywhere and the floors haven't been cleaned in quite some time. Employees were indifferent to customers. I asked my wife to pick up my dry cleaning on her way home from work tonight. I looked on the internet in advance and told my wife that they closed at 8:00 PM. She arrived at 6:55 PM and when she got to the door there were two men standing inside but the door was locked. One of the men mouthed through the door "I am closed". My wife pointed at the sign on the door and asked him if she could please pick up our order. He then mouthed through the door "I close at 7:00 PM. Even if that were the case my wife was there before 7:00 PM and should have been helped. I really don't think we'll be returning. If this is your idea of good customer service we'll pass. I have been to multiple Zips locations so when I learned I could still use Zips in Norfolk, I was happy. To my dismay, just about every experience at this location has been disappointing. Customer service is rare, the front area is never clean, and it has never been a simple drop off or pickup. During my first visit and my first time using the laundry service, the lady informed me there was a minimum weight to get clothes laundered. At this time, I was looking forward to the service I had seen signs the last time I was in the store, and my washer had not been delivered yet, so when I asked where that information is posted, I was directed to go online and showed the door until I get enough laundry to meet the minimum weight of 10lbs. In my mind, I figured that if I have to go online even though I'm in the store, I'll go ahead and leave a review as well. This latest visit, I had a dress uniform to pickup and when I arrived a few days after the expected time for it to be ready, I still had to wait for the slacks to be ironed, pressed, and creased as they were still not ready. I also had a bag drop off and it wasn't returned even though it had my tag on it that associated it to my account. There is so much confusion at this location and lack of communication both in store and with customers that I'm very hesitant to keep using it. I want to give them one last chance, so I can determine if this feedback changes anything. Maybe the employees are not conveying the problem to management, so this is my means to let everyone know service needs addressed at this location. I had dropped off my dress blues on 11/14/19 for a military funeral Monday. I was told they would be ready 11/15/19 after 5pm. I went to pick them up Saturday afternoon and was told the machines went down Saturday morning and that it wouldn't be ready. I asked why didn't I get a phone call to notify me and the gentleman had no answer and took me to the back because I was just going to take my uniforms to a different cleaner to get them done so they are ready by Monday. He found my uniform and then told me they were already done. So I left the cleaners with my uniform. When I got home I noticed they were never cleaned at all because the white deodorant mark that were on them are still there. So I paid for a service that was never worked on, lied to by your workers, and never got a phone call that the machines were down and my uniform wouldn't be ready until a week after I dropped it off. I usually use zips Dry Cleaners for my dry cleaning needs. However, during this visit (11/30/2021), was a deal breaker for me. I refuse to pay for bad customer service! Staff is rude and disrespectful. Management is not much better. I left my item with Zips only to return home several hours later to a phone call stating that I was not charged correctly for the item I left. The employee said she was not aware of the cost to clean my item and unless I come back it would not be cleaned. Problem 1.Attention to detail. Problem 2. If she was unsure ask questions before the customer leaves the store and inform the customer so that a decision can be made during the transaction not after the fact! Lastly, professional etiquette grows a business! None of that was present. Customer service is horrible and communication skills are even Worse! Do not go here! I've been pleased with the service at another ZIPS location. When we moved to Norfolk, I figured the service here would be on par. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The staff here moved very slow. Kept customers waiting. They had people at the counter who weren't helping customers. Not sure what they were doing. There were also kids (like 8 year olds) running around the place. I am assuming they are employees' kids. I guess it's better than running around the streets, but doesn't really do much for the professional image. When I went to pick up my item, I figured I would be able to zip right in and out in 3 minutes like I did at their other location. They "lost" my item. It took 2 people about 20 minutes to find it. What the heck? Don't you have a computer database of the location of everything? Isn't that what the barcodes are for? Not sure what happened but that left me really upset, not to mention wasted a lot of my time. The first time, I figured it may have just been a bad day. I went back a second time and discovered that's just how they operate. They lost my item again, and again, and took ridiculously long to find it. I don't know whats going on here, but they apparently don't know how to run an efficient and customer friendly operation. I won't be back - at least not to this one.
