We stopped for a mid-morning snack and don't regret it! Great service, cute decor, music, seating - it's all lovely. But the girls working are so personable and kind. Definitely worth a stop!

Cute roadside stand run by two delightful and hospitable young women. Donuts made to order and absolutely delicious!

These donuts were so good, and served warm. We really enjoyed the glazed donut holes.

Really needed a great desert after a sub-par dinner and stopped by on our way to Warren Dunes State Park; Zo and her sister met the challenge!

It has a small town community center vibe, and there are seating options available to enjoy your donuts once you purchase them. I love this. The donuts themselves are pretty much what you would expect. There wasn't a huge variety available, but there were plenty to choose from for even the pickiest of donut eaters. Strangely the one complaint that I have about the donuts is that there's actually way too much icing or glaze. I got an old fashioned and two krulers, but there's so much icing on them that the donuts are completely lost and I'm literally crunching on pure chunks of recrystalized sugar. I never imagined I'd have that complaint, but it is a bit overwhelming. There was a very tall gentleman in there that assisted me with my order. He was very pleasant and patient with me while I figured out what to put in my collection. Afterward, I sat down and ate part of my old fashioned donut to which he inquired about the quality. I told him it was good. I thought maybe I was just having a sugar issue with the old fashioned. I didn't realize it till I got the entire box home that they are all very heavily coated with the glaze. In any case, it doesn't really matter. Other than the Bit of Swiss business up the road, this is the only donut shop in town and I'm guessing the one you'll be stopping at when you roll through here as well. I love supporting local businesses and I'm glad this isn't a krispy kream, but I will say there's a little bit more that could be done in terms of enhancing the ambiance of their shop, as well as managing the overall glaze that coats the donuts. But the people were friendly and they were open early, so it was all good.

It takes a few minutes since it is made fresh, but it is so much better that way. You walk in, get into the line, and take a long, hard look at the impressive menu board. Then look down - they have all sorts of delicious baked goods as well. Pick what you want, order it up. We sat outside since it was a nice day, under a nice table with an umbrella. They brought the food out, and it was very tasty! I had their Turkey Club, which was scrumptious, just mouth wateringly good. My wife had their bagel bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, which she enjoyed. They have an assortment of drinks and chilled water. I had a coke which was good, and went back for chilled water. This is a nice place, off the beaten path. Find it, try it, you'll enjoy it.

The sourdough bread is buttery and toasted to perfection that gives a nice crunch and texture to your sandwich. My friend had the tuna melt and she really loved it. I took a bite of it and it was pretty good. The pickled onion gives a nice flavor for the whole sandwich. My other friend had the spaghetti sandwich and it was basically a spaghetti with bread. The chocolate covered doughnut was so good! It is fresh and the texture is so soft and it melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this place!

They were doing a NOLA-themed menu, so we started out with a Sazerac which was DELICIOUS. We ended our meal with Spanish coffee, equally delicious even though our mixer said she'd never made one before. In-between, we enjoyed tuna tartare, oyster bisque, Cajun walleye with hush puppies, a smoky Cajun gumbo, beignets with chocolate sauce and an Argentine malbec. All EXCELLENT!!! If you haven't been to the Historian, you're missing out. Great food, friendly service, nice vibe and decent prices.

It was refreshing to peruse an interesting small plates menu which we would definitely go back to try on a future visit. There is also a traditional menu as well as a special menu on weekends prepared by a guest chef featuring international cuisine. We tried the "Thai Night" menu and especially enjoyed the vegetarian potstickers in a delicious Thai sauce and the noodle salad with shrimp. The flavors were layered, with a delicate creamy texture and just the right amount of spice. There is a parking lot on site and reservations are a must on weekends, although an early arrival might get you a nice spot at the bar!
