We stopped in for breakfast during the July 4th weekend. I had the lox bagel with 1 lox slice, my kiddo had a cream cheese bagel, and my husband had some bacon egg and cheese bagel. I really enjoyed my lox bagel and thought it was one of the best I've had!! The flavors were nicely balanced with the onion, capers, cream cheese and lox. I was able to eat it easily and get a little piece of everything in each bite. The bagels seem smaller than average, but who needs giant bagels anyway? I found these to be reasonably sized. Big overstuffed bagels that fall apart while you eat them - lox sliding all over the place - are really annoying. These were satisfying without making you feel gross after. The coffee selection exceeded our expectations. We shared a chemex for 2. They had a few single origin coffees to choose from and we had their pink bourbon Columbian. We enjoyed our coffee and bagels outside in their seating area and this was once of my favorite parts of our trip! It's been a minute since I've written a review! David's is always a must whenever I'm in New Buffalo. I don't care where I'm staying, I always try to stop in for a mocha. Even if I'm driving through and somehow get close to Chicago early enough in a Sunday, I will stop here! They have the best iced mocha as mentioned above. I like it very lightly sweetened with regular milk. The owner seems to always take my order and takes it with care. She goes easier on the syrup since she can always add more but they're perfect every time. That's why we always have to make a stop! I also love getting a half order of lox with all the fixings on a multigrain slice. It's perfection every time! And a side of bacon is crispy every time. Oh...they make the best chocolate chip cookies EVER!!! Like ever!!!! Crispy, gooey amazing and omg if you toasted them...dangerous. Lots of great baked items to choose from. Yummm!! Always try to find a new coffee shop to try on my way up to Traverse City. Saw David's was a pretty popular spot so I decided to stop in. Lucky enough to not have a line and it smelled like fresh bagels. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a salt bagel and a chocolate chip cookie. Ate inside and there is plenty of seating in the front and the back and also outside. Service was quick. My order was ready in no time. The bagel was light and satisfying. Enjoyed the salty kick with every bite. The cookie was like it just came out of the oven. Ooey gooey. Glad I got to stop in and check out David's. read more

We were a bit full from eating lunch at Post Boy. However, we couldn't walk past David's D&C without stopping in to at least get or coffee and tea fix. Service was great. Drinks were served in a timely manner. The air conditioned room was cool and a nice break from the warm 80F sunny weather. Next time, I'll try one of the baked goods for sure! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to Chicago. My boyfriend got the Breakfast Reuben while I got a bagel. We were both blown away from the Breakfast Reuben. We ended up ordering another one, we loved it so much! It was very unique and delicious. We meant to stop in for a few minutes but probably ended up staying half an hour to enjoy our food! We walked in on a holiday weekend Saturday morning and it was busy as expected. It seemed like one of the only places in New Buffalo to get a casual lunch. The line was wrapped around the inside but it moved relatively fast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich: everything bagel + egg + provolone + tomato + cucumber. It was simple but hit the spot. They also have a lot of delicious looking pastries and some unique vegan options. Up front is pretty crowded with the line and the main walkway but there is an outdoor patio in the back which was empty and a smaller section after the main room with more indoor dinning spots. The staff were super friendly and despite a line nearly going out the door, they were super chill and efficient - which is a vibe I can totally get behind! Everything was good but the breakfast Rueben was sooo delish. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and service was quick + friendly. Had a great experience this morning. Popped in for coffee and bagels on our way out of town. Line was long but moved fast. We ordered, got our food and headed to the car where my hubby noticed a bagel was missing. He went back in and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Apologized, made a fresh bagel and even comped it. With crave-worthy Reubens and creative sandwiches and sides, it provides sustenance you can feel good about eating. We love a good deli and David's deli was phenomenal! David's reuben featured ample tasty corned beef with just the right amount of sauerkraut/1000 island/swiss. The whitefish sandwich was a unique take on whitefish compared to what we've had in past - packed with various herbs and vegetables - tasty combination of flavors and textures. For sides, we had the potato salad and broccoli salad - both were delicious, particularly enjoyed the textures in the broccoli salad. My husband loves rugelah so we were excited to see they sold a variety of rugelah - we had the nutella and a fruit one (can't recall specific flavor - think it was apple) - both were tasty! We've had rugelah from other bakeries before but I particularly enjoyed the texture of these ones - light and tender yet held up to the filling. Small amount of seating inside, but picnic tables are available in the back. Breakfast Reuben 5/5- WOW. Wasn't sure how it would taste with the egg, but this was amazing. Perfect sized too! I got an extra side of the thousand island dressing because I like it saucy. The breakfast Rueben doesn't come with a pickle, so make sure to order on the side! Cinnamon Roll 4/5- unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of this. It looked amazing, but wasn't the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. We will never get a fast food lunch on the highway again. What a gem! We had the Reuben, Veggie Reuben, grilled cheese and tomato soup which was too acidic for the kids but still made for great dunking. Also tried the chicory syrup in a chai which was A+. People go nuts for the Rueben breakfast sandwich ($6.50 for a half open face), but I think the lox breakfast sandwich ($7.00) on your choice of bagel (garlic) is much better. While my friend & I were visiting this adorable harbor town, we went on the hunt for a coffee. David's sits right on the main street that cuts through town and was just across the street from our condo. So we headed over. As we approached, we noted the big storefront windows and old varnished door that really added to it's charm. We went inside to find the shop to be just as inviting. Wooden floors, traditional deli counter and earthtone decor created a warm and inviting space. The staff working were also very kind. It was a bit busy but they were efficient yet personable. This added to the pleasant experience we were already having. Our coffee tasted sooo good. I could tell the high quality beans were roasted perfectly. Our beverages were rich and smooth - exactly how I like my coffee. We went outside and around the back. Their back patio/deck is the perfect spot to enjoy our morning joe. It was spacious and offered a variety of seating options. We were doggie sitting and loved that so many people brought their furry friends for al fresco coffee as well. I visit New Buffalo often and David's will be a definite stop for morning coffee, pastries and a delicious lunch. read more

Had a wow of a breakfast reuben on a bed of greens here. Locals and regulars were lining up here this morning, as well as more touristy types. They have some of the tenderest corned beef I have tasted (sliced very thin, the way I like it!) and a very palatable mild kraut (I would have bought both by the pound if they sold it that way and I didn't live 2 + hr away). I can recommend the reuben on greens- to elevate it, honestly, call it a reuben salad or keto reuben, or maybe, more creatively, a reuben with a green petticoat. Good iced latte as well. read more
