    Bacon, egg, and cheese bagel

Always try to find a new coffee shop to try on my way up to Traverse City. Saw David's was a pretty popular spot so I decided to stop in. Lucky enough to not have a line and it smelled like fresh bagels. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a salt bagel and a chocolate chip cookie. Ate inside and there is plenty of seating in the front and the back and also outside. Service was quick. My order was ready in no time. The bagel was light and satisfying. Enjoyed the salty kick with every bite. The cookie was like it just came out of the oven. Ooey gooey. Glad I got to stop in and check out David's.

We were a bit full from eating lunch at Post Boy. However, we couldn't walk past David's D&C without stopping in to at least get or coffee and tea fix. Service was great. Drinks were served in a timely manner. The air conditioned room was cool and a nice break from the warm 80F sunny weather. Next time, I'll try one of the baked goods for sure!

Before shopping around, we stopped into David's to get a couple of lattes and breakfast sandwich to get our morning started. Such a cute cafe! We were served right away and didn't wait long for our order. Your standard breakfast sandwich (added bacon and cheese). Lattes were solid as well. Cute spot - pastries looked really good, so will have to give those a try next time.

We walked in on a holiday weekend Saturday morning and it was busy as expected. It seemed like one of the only places in New Buffalo to get a casual lunch. The line was wrapped around the inside but it moved relatively fast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich: everything bagel + egg + provolone + tomato + cucumber. It was simple but hit the spot. They also have a lot of delicious looking pastries and some unique vegan options. Up front is pretty crowded with the line and the main walkway but there is an outdoor patio in the back which was empty and a smaller section after the main room with more indoor dinning spots. Workers are super friendly too!

Yum! Sandwiches made to order on fresh bread with your favorite toppings. Hipster feel with funky artwork to check out. Friendly folks to boot. If you have a sweet tooth, they have plenty of bakery desert items.

My family and I were just looking for some quick treats... and David's did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly and despite a line nearly going out the door, they were super chill and efficient - which is a vibe I can totally get behind! The blueberry muffin was delicious and the Asiago bagel was toasted to perfection with a generous slathering of cream cheese. Add to it that it bears my namesake on its sign and you have a place destined for success! Based on the reviews I am seeing, I may need to return to try a reuben sandwich!

Great little beachside find. Tasty pastries and filling breakfast sandwiches with well prepared coffee. Staff were happy to help and the dinning room had plenty of of seating. Good, quick breakfast option.

This is the place to go for breakfast and sandwiches in New Buffalo. I got the breakfast Rueben and iced coffee. And then went back later to get a lox. Everything was good but the breakfast Rueben was sooo delish. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and service was quick + friendly. Plenty of tables inside and also a patio in the back (and a few tables out front). It does get busy but the line moves quickly. A definite must if in New Buffalo!

Grabbed some sandwiches to go, while my family was at the beach. All were good, reasonable prices, and fast and friendly service.

When entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted by staff and were advised to grab a menu from the nearby wall. Orders are placed at the counter, food and coffee. They also provide an estimate on wait-time for coffee and food based on level of orders currently placed. We were given a buzzer and advised that our name would be called for both coffee and food. The bourbon vanilla Madagascar latte was delicious, I loved that the coffee flavor was not overpowered by homemade coffee syrup. The paninis were delicious and very filling! They come with a side salad or kettle chips.

I ordered the pesto egg panini alongside a pistachio iced latte. The panini was the standout--fresh bread, flavorful pesto, ripe tomatoes, and a well-balanced combination of flavors. The pistachio latte, however, could use a little refinement. I'd love to see pistachio cream incorporated instead of a liquid syrup, which could give the drink more body, richness, and a more pronounced pistachio flavor. Overall, a great café experience with plenty of personality and a menu worth exploring.

First let me start by saying that Oink's and I go way back. I believe that the first time I went there was in 1988 when I was 16 (my two older cousins were raised in Union Pier), and since I visit SW MI at least twice a year, I never leave without going to Oink's before coming home. As I always took my kids to Warren Dunes instead of Chicago beaches, my kids always got to enjoy Oink's before coming back home also! So this year was no different and my wife and I got to sit down and enjoy ice cream before coming back home. I have always loved the different ice cream flavors (especially strawberry cheesecake), and as I always do, I bought a few pig keychains and other things from the gift shop. I also have always loved the old-school vibe! So every time I am up that way, I'll be there!! One last thing: I got to meet Coach Vink back in the day because my older two cousins (The McSmith brothers, who both passed away unexpectedly in 2024 and 2025), played for him at New Buffalo High School. Coach was a good dude, and I was sorry to hear of his passing. So, see you next time I'm up there!

There's a parking lot and other fun places in walking distance as well to check out. The decor in Oink's will never leave you bored. There is so much to look at! They have a number system so once you enter, be sure to grab a ticket with a number on it and it'll flash on the screen. There were a few groups who came in who were unaware of that and so the lines and ordering process was a tad chaotic. Eventually one of the staff mentioned something about grabbing a ticket and it was easily sorted. Everyone working was very friendly and patient which is a huge plus. I tried out one of their cherry and chocolate ice cream flavors. So tasty! I also love knowing you can get a half scoop as well although it was still so much ice cream. The perfect place for a sweet treat!

There is something delightfully American about turning an old church into a brewery. It feels…read morealmost inevitable, as though the building merely exchanged one congregation for another. The faithful still gather every weekend--they simply kneel before pizza instead of pews. Beer Church sits just down the street from Sonny D's, an establishment I recommend only to those conducting scientific research into disappointment. Keep walking. The church itself has lived several lives. A friend who grew up in New Buffalo told me he spent his Cub Scout meetings in the basement. Today, where badges were once earned for knot-tying and fire-building, adults earn merit badges for surviving a flight of IPAs and deciding whether to split one more pizza. I've eaten here over several summers before writing this. Restaurants in seasonal tourist towns are notoriously difficult to judge. A spectacular Tuesday in July can become a forgettable September afternoon, and many survive simply because the next wave of vacationers doesn't know any better. Beer Church is not one of those places. Across the board, it accomplishes something surprisingly difficult: consistency. The Crema di Pistachio pizza remains one of the finest things to emerge from its wood-fired oven. Fennel sausage, creamy pistachio, restrained sweetness, and beautifully blistered dough somehow manage to feel both rustic and elegant. The crust has enough leopard spotting to remind you someone in the kitchen understands Naples, even if Lake Michigan is a long way from Campania. For a small harbor town, this pizza punches well above its weight class! Then there's the Banana Pepper Royale, another showcase for that excellent fennel sausage. Creamy goat cheese softens the peppers while bright San Marzano tomato sauce ties everything together. Each bite balances acidity, richness, spice, and sweetness without missing a beat. Not everything receives my unconditional blessing. Someone in the kitchen has committed what can only be described as a crime against nduja. A beautiful Calabrian spreadable sausage--possibly even Tempesta from Chicago--is treated like ordinary chorizo, cooked until it loses the silky richness that makes nduja so special, then smeared onto bread. Don't smear it for me. Let me do that. This is sacrilege. One does not buy a Stradivarius only to use it as a canoe paddle. The frustrating part is that the rest of the menu suggests someone behind the scenes has traveled well and eaten even better. These details matter. When you're working with artisan meats, respect the artisan. I'd also love to see more seasonal rotation on the sausage board. Service has consistently ranged from very good to excellent. Whether downstairs with families or upstairs at the bar, the staff is friendly, attentive, and never overbearing. My daughter has declared the strawberry gelato mandatory every visit, and I've learned not to argue. The beer is, appropriately, very good. Their Italian Pilsner has become my reliable companion through many summer afternoons--crisp, refreshing, and exactly what you want after convincing yourself that yes, another pizza is necessary. Behind the bar, Nikki and her team know both the beer list and the spirits with refreshing confidence. The cocktail menu is admittedly a bit busy, with plenty of sugary drinks for vacationers, but that's life in a tourist town. Ignore the sugar bombs. Order something classic instead. I've ordered cocktails obscure enough to stump bartenders in San Francisco, Chicago, and even Tokyo. At Beer Church, those requests are met not with panic but curiosity--and more often than not, an excellent drink. That's perhaps the highest compliment I can give. Beer Church isn't trying to be Brooklyn. It isn't pretending to be Chicago. It simply understands hospitality. Inside a building once devoted to fellowship, it still brings people together. The sermons have been replaced by pizza, the hymns by conversation, and the communion wine by an excellent Italian pilsner. Frankly, that's a conversion I can enthusiastically support.
