According to the waitress, it wasn't supposed to be, and was promptly heated. It's understandable that baked potatoes can not be cooked to order, but how can it escape from being heated before service? None of us were offered refills for the $3,50 soft drinks. And here I am, suggesting that a Vermont hamburger from Zoe's Double Hex, The Holy Moly Burger, is among the best options in the northeast. Am I a hypocrite? Of course! But The Holy Moly, a thick, onion-ring adorned BBQ hamburger, big as a small cake, flavored with salt and onions and slaw, cooked over some kind of charcoal fire and stuffed into a a soft bun, is an awe-inspiring unit of consumption, almost as daunting in its appearance as it is embarrassing to actually order. Food was good but they expect you to change your child's diaper on the floor of the restroom. I asked where I could change my son's diaper and was told to use the floor of the men's room. I mentioned that there was plenty of room to install a diaper changing station on the wall of the rest room and the manager responded that it would be too much of a liability - someone broke the toilet seat recently and so certainly a diaper changing station would get broken. We finally tried Zoey's Double Hex on our last visit to Manchester earlier this week. After being disappointed by local restaurants during another recent trip to Southern Vermont, we were more than pleasantly surprised by Zoey's. Everything we had was delicious... my herb-rubbed, roasted half chicken was moist and very flavorful, the accompanying sides were yummy (stuffing and steak fries were great, and the garden side salad was fresh and lovely. And was topped with the most orgasmic herb ranch dressing I've ever had. Can ranch dressing be orgasmic? Yes, yes it can.) Dan reports that his burger was "the best he's had in Vermont", which is saying a mouthful, since he orders a burger everywhere we go. It did look really good; fat and juicy, nice roll, cooked perfectly. The kid had buffalo fingers which were not nearly spicy enough for her, but they were tender and flavorful. (Oh! We started with onion strings and onion rings... because God forbid we decide between the two. :oP The onion strings were fried heaven, but the rings were a bit greasy and heavy. The debate between rings and strings rages on between Dan and the kid...) The service was very sweet and helpful, but very slow, as others have mentioned. A solid four stars for now, and we'll definitely be back next trip! (A note... Let me start by saying the employees are so rude I almost walked out. My husband is a chef here in New York City and I have eaten all over the US. I was shocked and appalled at our treatment. The hostess/ waitress with shoulder length auburn hair and glasses is who started off with the shitty attitude. Then our mannish waitress was such a bitch I could hardly contain myself. She told me if I got tea I would get water and ONE tea bag. She wholeheartedly emphasized ONE tea bag. I felt like saying "no shit lady, how many tea bags do people normally use?!" I really really hated this woman and on a $140 tab she got the hint when we gave her around a $3 tip. The food was okay which I gave a star for and ONE young waitress in her 20s my cousin knew was also very polite (unfortunately she wasn't our waitress) but your other staff lost you every single other star. My only complaint would be that there were on,y 2 waitress on duty and ours was covering both sides of the restaurant as well as the outdoor seating area. We found this little country gem while on a ski trip to Vermont. Three of us stopped in for lunch. They have huge sandwiches served with homemade potato chips, mmm mmm good! The food at Zoey's was wonderful. My sister and I had the ribs and they just fell off the bone. Great portions too. This restaurant is really good for families--it has a rustic and homey interior. They have a really cool tile mural and sit-down counter too--which I would imagine would be a fun lunch hang-out. Their ice cream is from Wilcox creamery and was just to die for. The thing about Zoey's that made me give it only four stars was the service--terrible. I think that they must be under-staffed or we caught them at a busy night. Our waitress messed up our dessert order, she was not very attentive during the meal, and It took her about 20 minutes to get our check after we asked for it. The burgers here are fantastic. I went here twice during my one-month stay in Bennington, VT. Definitely one of the better food choices in the area, and in all of Bennington as well. The jalapeno popper burger was one of the bests. I also liked the chicken pesto sandwich. They were nice enough to accommodate me and switch the burger with chicken. I was in Vermont for a wedding and I found this place on Yelp. My experience had elements of all five stars so I give it three stars and the following explanation. Let's start with the waitress...Maybe she was having a bad day but she did not seem to want to talk to us. I think it was pretty clear we were from out of town but she offered no menu highlights or guidance which would be helpful in a local place like this. And considering they usually do that at Chili's or Applebee's, it was noticeably absent here. As a result, I missed out on house branded sodas which I didn't see until after my Coke had arrived. I also upgraded from chips to fries only to find out that the chips were homemade and delicious (My brother in law let me try one of his). There was also quite a bit of time between her table visits and she wasn't with other tables, she was mostly in the back. 1 star for service. The food...I ordered a burger medium rare with some Vermont Cheddar as did my wife. The other two adults at the table ordered burgers medium. All four burgers came out north of medium and close to well done. Why did they ask us how we'd like them prepared? That's a big pet peeve for me. Don't ask if you're just going to do it how you want anyway. I must say though that the burger was pretty damn good despite being overcooked. And there were a number of interesting burger combinations offered on the menu which I always appreciate. 4 stars for food and menu. The setting was pretty cool. It has a ski lodge kind of look but it could have been cleaner. It definitely could have been cleaner after we left as the two and four year olds in our party did their usual cookie monster routine with their food. 3 stars for the setting. It wasn't outrageously expensive but it wasn't cheap either. I guess that's par for the course in a resort town. 2 stars for quality. There's plenty of parking so I guess they get 5 stars for that. My Grandpop always loved ample parking. It wasn't bad and my lunch companions did not feel that I'd steered them wrong but if I ever do return to this corner of the earth, I will hop on Yelp and try someplace else. read more

Of all the choices we had around the Manchester VT area, we certainly chose a great one with Zoey's. We did have to wait 1/2 hour but it was totally worth it! Nice atmosphere, great staff and great food. I had the Haddock special broiled in white wine served on a bed of spinach that was perfectly cooked. My wife had the Scallop and Asparagus fettuccine that was chock full of broiled scallops and tender asparagus. We both totally enjoyed our meals and would definitely go back. The best thing was probably the prices! My special was $18 and my wife's was $20. If you have eaten at any of the "fine" dining places in this area, you'd know what a great value this was! We came here early around 4:15 for dinner. We were sat right away in a booth. Was greeted by our server Kristy. My son and I ordered sandwiches and I asked for extra extra cheese on mine. My husband asked for the prime rib, she said that dinners were not available until after 5 pm. So he ended up getting a burger, he asked if he could have some horseradish sauce on the side if possible. She said she would try but was sure it was not made yet. Now being a chef I know that horseradish sauce is prepped and ready to go and is simmering it's taste and medaling together for dinner time ahead of time. When she brought our food she did not bring the sauce or even say anything about it to my husband. I asked if there was extra cheese on my sons sandwich instead of mine because looking at it it was an extra layer of cheese and i asked saying "oh did my son accidentally maybe get my cheese?" She looked at me and said I don't think so and I said well look it has way more cheese then mine. Maybe it was just a mistake. And she grabbed my plate and was saying while she left with it I don't think so but I'll check. Very curt and not becoming at all. It was just a question. And then when she was gone I grabbed a piece of the cheese that I thought was cheese on my sons sandwich and it was apple! I didn't know and if she would have just taken the time to explain to me that it was apple and not cheese I would have been oh ok then. She came back with my sandwich which had extra cheese and it was very good. My sons sandwich in was ok it would have been better if it had regular honey mustard and not stone ground. My husband burger was good as well. The people behind us ordered I heard order salmon. I was confused when the waitress did not say it was not time yet seeing it was only 430ish so i was confused on that.. We got two desserts the pecan pie and the bread pudding both just ok but not great..They felt like they were thrown in the microwave.
