This place is stellar! What an awesome find. We tried several dishes from their breakfast menu, including the Josh (corned beef, potatoes, eggs), a build-your-own-breakfast sandwich, and the Philly cheesesteak inspired breakfast bowl. Everything was delicious! Inside, you order from the counter then find a table to sit. We visited in the winter, so we couldn't take advantage of their outdoor seating, but the space looked very nice. The staff was super friendly, greeting us when we walked in and saying goodbye when we left. The food came out in a reasonable timeframe and was reasonably priced. I'd like to come back to try lunch items soon! And... *drumroll*... the ice coffee has coffee ice cubes. No more watered down drinks here! Very impressed. read more

What a great find. Right around the corner from Stratton access road. Just a small sandwich place but packs a huge taste. Got the chicken Cesar wrap that was packed full of breaded chicken cutlet, crouton and flavor. Also tried the Vietnamese BBQ Pulled Pork Banh Mi, which was so unique for a lunch sandwich. Pulled pork was melt in your mouth good. We got a side of onion rings that may be the most unique onion rings I've had; they are a combination of salty and sweet that is very special. This place was so good we returned for breakfast the next day. Burrito bowl was really good, and Vermonter was also great, which adds a a little maple syrup to the egg sandwich. We were visiting Stratton resort and wasn't enthused with any of the limited restaurant selections in the Stratton village itself. So found this place on Yelp which is only about 7-8 mins away from Stratton. This place is really good. Great customer service and ample seating especially outdoors with a great view of a creek. I got the pork banh mi sandwich which the meat was very tender as they roast their own meat in the smoker. My son got the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and while you can taste the smokiness of the meat, they could have put more Swiss cheese in it. My wife got the Philly cheesesteak bowl which came with beautifully seasoned potatoes. All the dishes had their own great distinct flavor. Finally got their award winning onion rings which I have to admit, you can taste the freshness of the batter and the onion themselves. read more

I eat here about 3 times a week. That should be enough said. But I saw a review where someone dumped on the BBQ and had to speak up. If you happen to be there when they are throwing a chunk of meat on the smoker you will know this is the real deal. Does it compete with southern bbq? Quite possibly the best onion rings I've ever had. The Piggy Bowl was great. Next time I'll ask for the pulled pork in it to come without sauce, the better to enjoy the smoky goodness of the pork. Amazing, we stopped for a late lunch. Kinda drew us in with the smokers going outside . I had the grilled piggy, with pulled pork, maple smoked bacon, Vermont cheddar Mac n cheese, homemade slaw, on sourdough bread. It was hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, so many yummy flavors that worked so well together! My husband had a pastrami, Swiss cheese, homemade slaw, on a pretzel bun he said was awesome! We shared a fry but definitely could just eat a sandwich because we barely touched the fries. My first time here and I got the breakfast burrito with choice of ham as the meat and Swiss cheese. It was amazing, so fresh and you can taste each ingredient. Hands down the best breakfast sandwiches in vermont! We were up in Vermont for the weekend and wanted to grab breakfast one of the mornings. So the 4 of us decided to stop by and give this place a try. Its a cute little place, where I assume most of their business is take-out because while there are a few tables, there aren't any chairs. We decided to stand and eat our food there because the place was so cute! I got the Vermonter which was SO good. The food was freshly made right in front of our eyes and it was so tasty. I am GF (gluten intolerant, not celiac). This being said, I have to mention the burger that I had at Workhorse Cafe last week. To begin, I recommend the burger, mine was ordered Medium and cooked to juicy perfection. The GF roll was buttered and grilled on the flat top, for the best experience I've had with a GF roll for my burger. People who do not consume gluten know the pain of trying to find bread that works, and I've mostly given up on GF bread and go with a lettuce wrap or on top of a side salad. Kurt recommended the GF roll and I was more than pleasantly surprised! This is a friendly place to go with owners and staff that care about both the food and customer experience. She told me they were open until 5pm and taking last orders at 4:45. I called back at 4:30 to place my order and she told me they were closing and not taking orders. The only downside I could think of: Seating is a little limited, and parking is only on the street, so be prepared. Aside from that, everything was awesome: This place had the most badass sandwiches ever. Super generous portions, amazing flavor, and great service. Still felt very county and local, so everyone was very friendly and the whole vibe was hospitable and welcoming. They have a huge cast iron pan of mac & cheese right on the counter, so don't leave without getting at least one dish with that incorporated. I'm not usually a fan of pulled pork for whatever reason, but they had this sandwich with pulled pork and mac & cheese, and it was legitimately the best pulled pork I've ever had and probably the only time I've ever enjoyed it Also, it's a small detail but makes a world of a difference: they have coffee ice cubes, so your coffee doesn't get diluted with ice water. My best friend and I came to Vermont to visit and ride some of the biking trails with our children. Our first morning here we found this little cafe for breakfast. The food was good and the girl cashier was beautifully kind. However when we went to leave one of the clips on the bike rack broke dropping one of the bikes behind the car as I was backing out. I stopped the car and immediately got out to fix it. It was not my intention nor did I even realize I was blocking the traffic on one side of this two entrance and two exit location. No one came up behind me or tried to get around that I know of, or I certainly would have moved. It was at this moment the gentleman from the cafe, I do not know if he was an employee or owner, came out gruffly and condescending and rudely told us to get out of the middle of the road as we were blocking his customers from getting in. I tried to explain the situation and he turned his back to me smarting off that I should move out of the way to fix my problem. He did not ask if I needed help, what had happened or even remotely be kind about it. So, if you're looking for a nice breakfast it is acceptable but do not expect any kind of human kindness if anything should misfortune you. They don't have traditional seating, but a couple of high top tables where you can stand and enjoy your meal. It's a very casual spot- I think most of their business is takeout.
