I started playing ZogSports volleyball in the Summer and by the Fall, I was hooked! I signed up for volleyball again and added football too. Zog has divisions for all levels of play and although I joined with a few friends, I've added many more from the teammates I've had. I AM SOO PUMPED ZOG IS IN LA! I moved to LA from NY a little under 2 years ago and have dipped my toe in the west coast social sports scene ... much to my dismay, nothing compared to my 5 years playing with Zog back in NY. Lo and behold, here they are! I have not played Zog touch football and will write back after the first game to review the actual LA league, but I am fully confident they will deliver with flying colors. Zog is worth every penny - I LOVE the charity component.. the people I have met through Zog are all awesome (it's hard to meet friends out here and I haven't had as much luck in other leagues), and I love the way you feel as though you are part of something with Zog. It's inclusive and fueled by FUN, not competition! I can't wait for the league to expand even more and get Zog Dodgeball out here! The game is so much better than the chaotic madness i have experienced so far. Strategy and skill are needed but not mandated! Thank you Matt and Zogsports for spreading the love out West. Zog does it right. I'm so thankful to have found this organization. It is the perfect combination of competition, fun, community, and outreach. They are the most organized amateur sports league I've ever played in. I haven't ever met a bad person at a Zog game or event. It's simple the best in the biz. Do yourself a favor and sign up for a league or two or three. You'll develop genuine friendships, fulfill the athlete in you, give back to your community, and you get to have a few drinks in the process ; ). Cheers! read more

For years I've heard stuffy New Yorkers brag about how much better their social sports scene is compared to LA's. No longer. Now that we have ZogSports LA, we can show them how it's done. All day, all long. Sports + booze with a mix of charity to make you feel less guilty about spending your free time and disposable income on sports + booze. Plus, I went to the LA launch party a couple weeks ago to socialize and scope the post-game bar and ended up meeting a someone who works where I do. Networking, too? Zog is a great social sports league, no matter what sport you're looking for and no matter the level you want to play at. I've played basketball through Zog for 4+ years now and have always been impressed with the facilities they utilize and the quality of the Zog staff. Casey has been particularly helpful over the years. If you're looking to meet people and have fun on and off the field/court/etc. definitely give Zog a shot. read more

I LOVE ZOG!! When I first moved to LA I know no one, so I googled adult football league and ZOG showed up. Best decision I have made since moving here. I have played Beach volleyball, beach football, indoor volleyball, softball, and touch football. All the leagues have different division for varies skill levels tailoring it to the kind of experience you want out of ZOG. The one thing that every sport has in common is going to the bar after and getting to know the great people in ZOG. read more

I highly recommend Zog to anyone who enjoys sports and meeting new people. It was a blast to do the volleyball league last year, and I'm looking forward to kickball this Winter. The staff are so professional and accommodating. We had a conflict with our schedule, and Matt did everything possible to make it work for us. I joined the soccer league in early 2014 and still look forward to spending an hour every Sunday striking upper 90 lasers in the Santa Monica sun. The league is very well organized - Matt and Caitlin are very responsive and helpful. Caitlin has gone out of her way multiple times to help squeeze myself (and former teammates) onto a team despite forgetting deadlines. Zogsports is a great way to meet new people and stay in shape. They offer a lot of different sports softball, football, soccer, etc. and it's very affordable. It's especially great for some one new to LA looking to make new friends or network. I highly recommend Zogsports to anyone looking to join a sports league. read more

I've been playing co-ed softball with ZogSports LA for over a year now. It's been great playing for a league that can support players who are more competitive or players who are more casual by dividing the league into separate divisions, especially since I tend to be a more casual player, haha. I've made solid friends here, and the happy hours after games definitely promote a sense of community (when you share a beer with teams you just played against!) I don't see myself quitting any time soon. read more

I have been playing ZogSports for several seasons and it is great. I'm literally so happy one of my friends forced me to signup with her. We signed up together for indoor volleyball on the westside as free agents. One of the several amazing parts of Zog is that several free agents can elect to be placed on the same team together through the registration process. The prices for play are super cheap especially if you do early registration. It's even cooler that a portion of the proceeds go the charities that you play for. Zog is a great place to meet like minded people who are all looking to have a great time playing sports. The hidden benefit is playing your favorite sport instead of a boring workout at the gym. It's awesome to play a sport I enjoy playing and at the level of competition that works for me. They have three levels broken into super competitive, sorta competitive, and I'm having a good time and make no warranties on my abilities. This is crucial so that everyone is playing in the right league. If you didn't play the sport in college, I'd say start in the middle league. read more

Great league on a great field; TON of fun. If you go to any league in the world, in any sport, you will find people that love it and people that hate it. I read where someone's girlfriend got injured, and while it does happen (It's football, not calligraphy), I can assure anyone who is worried that they do put safety first. I was a bit too rough when I played and they suspended me several times, making it safer/more fun for the other players. The reality is that there are several different options for people in LA. If you want to play against the best players in LA, then maybe look at Top Gun. You want a flag version of ZOG (With KickOffs and first downs by distance and not completions), then head over to LASportsnet. But if you want a fun, relaxed way to play on a GREAT field on Sundays, then look no further. My fiance tore her ACL and Meniscus playing football, and she can't wait to get back. The difference here vs other leagues is that this is a very pass heavy league. The QB can't run unless he or she is blitzed, and the receiver is down when touched with two hands. It makes things a little harder to at first, but once you get the hand of it you will love it. I also saw where somebody doesn't like certain refs. Look, NFL PLAYERS don't like certain refs. At ANY level of ANY sport you play, you will find a ref you don't like. The reality is, you aren't getting paid to play. In fact, you are paying to play. If the ref makes a call that changes the outcome of the game and you disagree with it, don't argue with the ref. Nobody likes the guy that argues with refs, don't be that guy. I was that guy, and it's not fun for anybody. Does it really matter that much? Take this league for what it is; A social sports league. It's ran very, very well, and is also cheaper than most other leagues. read more

I've been playing in the Zog soccer league for almost a year now and have noticed a huge difference in the way games are played since I first started. Safety has clearly become a major issue in the league, creating arguments between teams and referees that slow down the games and cause some confusion from game to game as to what is "legal" and what is not. I can't remember a game where we haven't been called for "slide tackles" in the last few months. This includes simply falling on yourself on the slippery turf fields without any other players surrounding you. While I understand that this is a "no contact" league, it's no longer fun to play with lots of stop-and-go calls and poorly judged yellow/red cards. As the captain of our team for several seasons and a huge advocate of Zog, it's disappointing to be put in a position to leave this league after growing with my team and making some amazing friends over the last year. If safety is as big of a concern as it's appearing to be, my suggestion to management would be to require all players to wear shin guards--it's as simple as that. We miss the good old days of Zog and wish we could play for what we all came here for: fun. read more
