Zoq is your quickest trip to Lahore! We were looking for good Indian/Pakistani varieties and came across Zoq. At time of my visit, Zoq was a newly opened restaurant and a fresh addition to downtown Kirkland. The newness is obvious with its sparkling interior and refreshing food. Comes to the food, their Naans are incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful. The chapali kabab, Paya, and Hallem portions are generous and delicious--I enjoyed all of them! Their tandoori chai, Punjabi lassi, mint cooler, and kheer are not so great. Overall, the barbecue and naans are really tasty and satisfying. I would probably skip their drinks and desserts, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're craving good barbecue.

This hands down is the best Pakistani / Halal food i have tried here in States! The food couldn't get more authentic, absolutely delicious. Words won't do justice, so anyone looking to try some authentic Pakistani cuisine, give this place a try and you will not be disappointed. The ambiance is super, warm and welcoming! The owners are great, really friendly and made sure that services provided were top notch! It has not been a month yet since they opened and i already been there twice, all the way from Tacoma! Highly recommended and will sure go back. Adding photos of everything i tried so far and seriously, pictures don't do justice. And oh, the naans are SO GOOD that i just dived in. Forgot to click! Try this place and enjoy!!!!!!

And that maybe was a big miss. We tried the butter chicken, naan, the chana masala, and another chicken curry that I can't remember the name of. Like most Pakistani food, it was very rich, which honestly is a sign that they are taking great care to make the food luxurious. A few bites of each dish was enough to satisfy us. We thought the dishes were a bit expensive but they ended up lasting at least two meals. I had a little bit of leftover after the second meal to take to work, which I was quite happy to do. This was probably the best butter chicken any of us had ever tasted. So tasty and the chana masala was also above average. We really enjoyed this food, although it was a bit too rich for our tastes.

As I'm not from their culture I cannot say with certainty it is authentic but the food was certainly delicious. If you're looking for modern and shiny, this place isn't for you. They are going through renovations but it's obviously not an establish trying to impress by interior designs, but through your stomach. Everything was well seasoned. The garlic naan was perfect thinness. The samosa chaat was delicious. The chicken Biryani was one of the best I've had. This place exceeded my expectations.

I tried an iced chai (which…read morethey said was the dumm chai), a regular hot chai, and a kashmiri chai with pistachios and the other chai were very traditional in the way they're not sweet at all and a bit bitter. But kashmiri was more modern and really well-balanced, straight up delicious especially with the pistachios! Also dear lord this is one of the best mango lassi I've ever had, definitely don't sleep on that. In general I love this business for its extremely unique presentation and implementation. It has a walk-up window outside you can order from with a table reserved specifically for chai house. Or you can walk into the kebab house restaurant it's attached to and get to the lovely low-lighting and beautifully designed chai house interior where it's filled with cozy seating and a self-serve order kiosk. I ordered a lot and it all came quick which was great. I also ordered both the rice pudding (lahori firni) and carrot pudding (gajar ka halwa) desserts. I wish I asked the best way to have them (temp, add-ins, etc) but 30 mins out of the fridge they had a mild and off-putting flavor for me. Will inquire about them next time I'm in, because I will certainly be back for those delish kashmiri chai and mango lassi!

It's probably my favorite cuisine. I hold each visit to a place to a high standard and here at Shahi, it's just passable. My first visit I got my usual Butter chicken. Not bad, but the curry flavor is really good, but the actual chicken seems lacking, as in literally, just more curry than anything. The Garlic Naan is both times hit the mark and are fairly generous with four decent sized pieces. Most recent I got the Tikka Masala which had a nice kick that I asked for, but the chicken again I feel like could've been more plentiful. I tried some of my friends Paneer Masala which was decent. We also go the "Mix Delight" - "A selection of Samosa, Chicken Pakora, Chicken Tikka and Beef Kabob. Served with cilantro and tamarind chutneys." This was fine as sort of a sampler but there was exactly one samosa, one beef kabob and lots onion for some reason. At $22 and as an "appetizer" I found this to be pretty lackluster. My last complaint is that there was some sort of celebration going on here. The banquet room next to the dining area was full. They had one guy taking and checking out take-out orders as well as tending to the tables, there were two families dining in and 4 of us looking to do take out. It took several minutes for him to even show up because he was so busy. Was he in the back cooking too?? Really, get this guy some help. Shahi has room for improvement and my buddy, and I more than likely will return to get our Indian fix, especially me, but beyond the passable food, the portions just seem a bit off.

Goat Biriyani - 5 stars Biriyani is served piping hot with tender goat; this is one of the softest goat dish I have had. The goat is usually overcooked and loses its texture in other places. I love the aloo included in the biriyani. One of the best biriyanis in seattle area - hope the taste never changes. Tandoori Fish - 5 starts The fish was good too - cooked in a tandoori over so retained its char taste. The portion size of the fish is pretty good given its appetizer.

But my takeout experience today was unbelievable. Walked into an empty restaurant. Had to go into the kitchen to find a guy. Did not see the usual owners. Ordered a takeout. 1. The mutton biryani has a putrid puky smell to it. The biryani rice is mushy and sticky like Japanese rice. The orange chunks of goat have a slime to it. Had to toss it into the trash 2. The Golbari Kosha Mangsho - tasty but not the staple they have been serving over the years The city authorities should shut down this place for serving spoilt food. Checked their website - No one's renewed the hosting. So I guess this is the end of the line for the business

For a group of four adults with a normal hungry, we ordered a small beef set and fried chicken, which was plenty. The banchan was fantastic, especially the Myungranjut.
