This was not my first time at Zorba's. I had no complaints until today. I brought my friend to try their famous pastrami burgers that I previously enjoyed. I usually have an order of zucchini fries with my zorba burger. But instead of having delicious fried zucchinis today I got an order of impossibly bitter zucchini fries. When I told them about the bitter fries, they offered to give me another order. I gladly accepted and they came back to me with the same bitter fries. I attempted to give them another shot thinking they gave me new fries. They still tasted bitter. I attempted to give back these fries again thinking they had used bad zucchinis unknowingly and they offered an order of different fries. I opted on onion rings this time and as I was walking away, the old Asian woman and the woman who was helping me were talking about how giving me back the fries I got the first time didn't work. I am not someone who makes a big deal about that type of service, but when my friend went up to ask for a bag for my greasy onions she was rudely told to stop being annoying. The old Asian woman also asked her where she was from for some reason. I thought this was the rudest service I have ever experienced and since my friend told me when we left, I decided to leave this review. The food is the only reason there is one star. I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon. read more

Terrible food and terrible service. My burger was cold and the cashier rushed me when ordering. The quesadilla we ordered wasn't even on a plate they gave it to us on a paper. This is a bootleg Gus Jr. they have the same menu but no where near the same quality or service. This place only has 4 stars and is still in business because of all the warehouse customers in the surrounding area if it wasn't for those warehouse employees this place wouldn't even be in business anymore. Zorba's is one of the "have to-go" spots when you visit Riverside because... 1.) There are no really FABULOUS places to eat in Riverside... We out in the desert... 2.) The famous Zorba burger!!! What's a Zorba burger? Well let me tell you... It loaded yummy tender pastrami on cheeseburger with shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, thousand island dressing, and bacon! It's pretty heavy but wow, once in a while you just got to indulge! 3.) Instead of getting the standard fries, replace it with their fried mushroom or fried zucchini! I'm not usually a huge fan of it but Zorba does it right. Perfect amount of breading and crispness and then you dunk it in their ranch. And *insert fireworks* just glorious. However, it can get pretty oil so meh... I wouldn't say they are addicting! 4.) They got a cool soda machine where you can choose different flavor cokes, sprites, ginger-ale, and like lemonade. I'm not a sofa kinda gal but when I do come I always go for the cherry vanilla coke! So the food is pretty solid but one thing that I really cannot stand is when the management/customer service is bad. I came tonight for a early dinner and honestly it wasn't that crowded... But I believe the owner was trying to train someone and pick up phone calls at the same so I could tell he was a little frustrated however, one thing you don't do is lash out on the customer. As I was ordering today, I kind of made my order very specific and I could tell he was getting annoyed but that is no excuse to give me so much sass... I was pretty offended as he rolled his eyes at me and kept mumbling under his breath. And not to mention, all the workers looked very confused behind the counter. Burgers are BOMB! I love the way they char them up. The fries are pretty good, zucchini fries leave something to be desired... maybe they need to come out hotter or something. I wouldnt even really call this place a restaurant. my 3 stars are on the double cheeseburger alone. its a decent portion and made fresh. the zucchini sticks are SUPER bland. and everyone that keeps ranting about the coke machine is obviously living under a rock. Do not stop by here before going to the doctors because the food will drive your blood pressure and sugar levels up the wall. The zucchini fries are one of my guilty pleasures. The ranch dressing is more like ranch mayo in a cup but it is addicting. I know how bad the food is here but I keep coming back for more. Wow what a surprise night service is horrible. Came in at 8:15 PM no one acknowledged us. I had to ask are you closed?. The cook said no we are not and yet we still waited a few min before we had our order taken. When our food was done it was placed on the counter and no one brought it to us. We had to get it our selves. While the ladies stood around talking. It took 3 women to fill the ice. The service was nothing like the AM shift . not sure we will be back for dinner. I think that this place is the perfect example for what's wrong with yelp. High scores for mediocre food left by people who really don't understand how to rate places correctly. I went to Zorba's because of its high score (4 stars) which should have made it damn near perfect. The first time that I went I got the chicken fried steak. It was not nasty, but it was bland. I came back a second time thinking that maybe my first visit was a fluke because a rating that high couldn't have been achieved by mediocre food. The second time around I got the pastrami cheeseburger which they named the "zorba burger" as if they invented adding pastrami to a burger, which in all likelihood they didn't or the man vs. food guy probably would have paid them a visit. Once again the meal was lacking in flavor, and I thought that the pastrami burger that Carl's Jr. had was 100's of times better tasting. I'm amazed that it is possible for any place to have pastrami that lacked flavor. To top it off, there was a lot of fatty parts in the pastrami, so I had to spit it out a few times. I'm all for supporting local businesses if they are actually good, but this place is mediocre at best. Good god, this place serves food from the heavens. Zorba's burgers are amazing. The pastrami makes the whole sandwich 10x more delicious. Zucchini fries are great and remind me of a burger joint in my hometown that's dear to my heart, brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Don't get me started on their soda machine! I know Fat Burger also has one, but this is the place where I first laid eyes on that magical machine. They have all the flavors, diet and regular, or any soda, I swear. Just wonderful. Zorbas one of the "must" tries in riverside. When you enter the empty city of riverside area, people tell you to try asahi and zorbas. I tried this my freshmen year and it was decent. The prices are fair for fries burger and soda. I got the pastrami with fries. The only thing that really impressed me was the soda machine with like 100 flavors. I want to first point out that the 4 stars is for the food, the customer service on the other hand is a JOKE, and shouldn't get any stars at all. I don't want to be rude or anything, I'm just being honest. We decided to stop by this place while driving home to San Diego for some good burgers. We get to the place and it's in the middle of no where pretty much, it's in the middle of some businesses. Anyways, we walk in and it just looks dirty. No tables were wiped, the ketchup area was SO dirty. We walk up to the counter looking at the menu and the girl asks us what we want to order literally right when we walk in so I felt rushed and she had a really bad attitude. Then she turns around and talks with her friend rolling her eyes and laughing while looking at my group... Is that really how you treat customers? Anyways I just ordered a cheeseburger and it was pretty good! It was big and juicy, I also got the deep fried mushrooms and they were alright, I wish the outside had a little more flavour but it was still good. Overall the food was really good, customer service? Bad. Really bad. Whoever the owner is, you need to talk to your employees because they are not cleaning up your restaurant and they have bad attitudes towards customers. Worst experience ever here. Came to have a burger and as we walked in I saw the cook handling the onion rings with her hands instead of a utensil for it. And to make it even worse the cashier from handling money goes on to touch them with her hands to fix it in the box and the fries as well so I'll close right, with her dirty hands that she just touched cash with, EWW.. We were there waiting with no hello welcome or anything of that sort, we weren't even acknowledged until another guy there tells the cashier there's a customer waiting and she says I know don't you think I know that. We then walked out that customer service was horrible and I don't plan on going back. I was very disappointed with the customer service in every person in the restaurant because no one proceeded to say a simple hello or will be right with you or anything like that and then for her to proceed and say I know they're there you think I don't know that to me that was just so rude. read more

THE zorba burger is DROOL QUALITY. Drool quality in laymans terms is... "I think of the zorba burger and I drool" WOW. The pastrami, the size of the burger, the quality, the taste, is AMAZING. YUMMMMMMMM!!! I love it. However I am not a big fan of their fries. Definitely NOT fresh and in & out quality but I GUESS it'll do. Prices are fair in relation to quality and size. In Riverside with no food in sight? Saw this beauty of a store passing by starving and thought it was a mirage! Walked in and was immediately greeted by friendly faces and the smell of burgers smack you in the face upon entry. Not only is it fair-priced, you get what you pay for by which I mean mountains of fries, burger filled with pastrami and you get to fool around with their 50+ fountain drinks! But they make a killer veggie burger with cheese and I like their soda machines because you can customize your drink. It's a comfortable place with plenty of seating plus the staff is friendly and quick. My only suggestion would be for them to use seasoning salt on the fries in order to make them even better. read more

I don't know how they do it, but I swear this has got to be the absolute best hamburger in Riverside. Maybe even the best burger anywhere!! I always just order their regular ol' 1/4 lb. hamburger, and it's the perfect dreamy balance of everything. A nice sized patty, shredded lettuce (LOVE that!!), sliced tomato, pickles, sauce (1000 Island maybe?), onions on request, and the bun is so perfect. It's always fresh without being too mushy & falling apart, and not too dry & crumbling away. It holds up nicely to all the juicy goodness inside. This might be an odd observation, but another nice thing about this burger is that it's a clean assembly, even when it's to-go. They stack it up all pretty and wrap it up nicely, and it stays that way the whole time you're shoving it in your mouth. So yummy!!! Not too messy & drippy either. The shredded lettuce helps hold it all in. Hubby likes their chili burger. Plain please, no cheese. The chili has great flavor & texture. Not too hot, not too mild, not too thick, not too runny. Again, perfect in every way. Also love their onion rings & fried zucchini. I'm pretty sure they're both handmade, since they're not overly breaded and have really fresh flavor. And not an embarrassingly humongous order, but easily big enough for 2 people to share -- although I'm pretty sure I could force down a full order all by myself :-) Just sayin'.......... Everyone is raving about the soda machine and I agree: it rocks! Who would think a drink machine needs to be all high-tech, with a touch screen and so many flavors to explore? Aside from the machine being all flashy, the drinks came out nice & fizzy, not too syrupy and soooo refreshing on a hot day. This is one of those things you don't know you need until you realize what you've been missing. Even when they're busy, they move fast, so it usually doesn't take very long to get your food. There's seating indoors & out, and a drive-thru too. If you're in a big hurry, just call your order in ahead of time & it will be ready when you get there. How's that for service? There's a big dirt lot next door, so I sometimes meet my uncle the big-rig driver there and he can easily get his big ol' truck in & out without any hassle. BTW, he orders the biscuits & gravy. He says they're good, but then adds that they're still not as good as my Mom's :-) Their menu is huge and similar to most other "Greek" burger types of places, but that's where the similarity ends. Pastrami heaven at this cheapo neighborhood drive thru. Five of us ate well for $35. Been going here for years and its always cheap and dependable for what it is. Terrible. This overpriced, mediocre hamburger stand is in need of some competition to set the proprietors straight and have them start making better food instead of the incompetent swill they serve in the area since it's devoid of any other greasy spoons. I visited here several times for Tuesday night motorcycle meets in hopes of catching a glimpse of the stunt riders who frequent the place (ironically for all the guys who showboat their newest and most expensive hardware, the best stunter had a beat up old Honda CBR from the 90's). I've stubbornly had the misfortune of trying one new item after another, and just about everything was just eh and overpriced.
