This was my first time visiting D'Elias, which is actually a childhood favorite of my wife's. I love a good sandwich shop, so I was excited to try it. The first small disappointment was finding out they don't offer mushrooms. As a big mushroom fan, especially on a hot sandwich, that was a bit of a letdown -- but not a deal breaker. I ordered the D'Loaded Cheese Steak, which honestly would've been perfect with mushrooms. When I opened it up, it looked absolutely delicious. The flavor definitely delivered -- I won't deny that at all. It was very tasty. My main issue was the texture and structure of the sandwich. It came out extremely hot and very wet. The bottom of the bread was completely soaked, which made it difficult to pick up without it falling apart. I just wish the bread had held up better so I could've enjoyed it without the mess. Overall, the flavor was great, but I hope they can improve the sandwich structure a bit. I'd be willing to give it another try. read more

(Was lobster on these sandwiches) Pros - Food was good. Fresh ingredients Potato salad was very good. Place was clean. Employees were friendly. Cons - Too expensive for what we got. We could've went to a good full service sit down restaurant for much less (tip included). Will we be back? I'd like to say yes but not at these prices. Also the 40 min drive makes it not worth it. I came here because my mom really loves D'Elia's Grinders, so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered the tuna sub and it wasn't great for me. The tuna-to-dressing ratio was off way too much tuna and not enough dressing, so it tasted pretty dry overall. On top of that, the flavor leaned more Miracle Whip than classic mayonnaise, which just isn't my thing. The bread is very hard and crunchy, almost stale tasting, but I know that's how it's supposed to be here. Still, it didn't help with how dry the sandwich felt. The inside of the shop is also very outdated, giving it a real old-school vibe. That said, I understand why longtime locals (and my mom) love this place it clearly has a loyal following. I was Transfered from NAS New Orleans to Long Beach Naval Station in July 1984 and we bought a House in Riverside for over 22 years and there was a Delia's on Arlington Avenue by Van Buren and been eating there delicious Meatball Sub and now live in Hemet since March 2006. So every time I'm in Riverside I stop get a super Crunchy Meatball Sub and this Morning I decided to drive from Hemet just to get the Best Meatball Sub I've ever had. My daughter got a Turkey and veggie and surprised her with this sub. I get my Military Discount and 200% Disabled Veteran. I would recommend this place especially if you like Meatballs with Provelone Cheese. read more

The inside was pretty specious compared to other the location. Kinda weird they had some booths and no tables but serves good space to wait. Ahahahahaha The real review here it is: Pastrami 8/10 not really for me tbh but I do love pickles soooo heyyyyy maybe not for me but it's for you. But my brother in law and sister ate a big fam. Philly D'fuego 9/10 it was good but needed more spice for me. Girl said it was spicy and ppl complained it was spicy. But not spicy amount for me ahahahahh. My favorites are the cold roast beef grinder and the meatball grinder, but almost everything is good. They also make the best fries in town. The only thing I haven't enjoyed in the past few years was the BBQ beef. It used to be my favorite back in the day when I remember it as sort of a shredded pot roast simmered in BBQ sauce. However, the last time I ordered it, it was just finely chopped deli beef tossed in a loose BBQ sauce. I wouldn't order that again. Service is usually friendly and the restaurant is clean. These days, driving to either location means going way on the other side of town, but it's always worth the drive when I get a craving for that crispy, messy bread full of goodness. read more

He fell in love with the grinders and actually said they reminded him of a place called D' Gangis in Pomona ( not sure on spelling) but said they were exactly like D'Elias...same bread, shredded lettuce, etc. He told his parents about them and they used to drive all the way from Chino to get a grinder. RIP to my in-laws. Lately, I order online and use the rewards...even without the rewards I'd still come here.
