    Colorado Connection burrito
    Rory R.

Second time visiting a Zorbaz, both within a week. This visit was a bit before noon on Saturday. Place only seemed to have a few other tables occupied, not sure if their busy time is lunch, happy hour, 9r dinner. Visit last week at another location we tried pizza so this time we tried the Mexican. We ordered: chips, salsa, and guacamole - chips were alright, salsa wasn't very spicy, and guacamole was ok but nothing great. Colorado connection burrito - ordered as hoped it would be spicy as have had good Colorado Chili in the past unfortunately the spice wasn't there. Chicken and rice burrito - overall the burrito was ok but the chicken just didn't have the flavor I would hope for in a good burrito and is a mix of white and dark meat. The place seems fun and could see it likely getting busy later in the day with a decent range of foods.

Okay pricing, okay food, good selection of beer. I went here for my birthday on vacation. It was neat in how different it was set up, but overall not very intuitive or friendly. The only cool thing I'd come back for is maybe reserving the pontoon boat to eat lunch/dinner on.

    Margarita at Zorbaz beach bar

On my first outing around Lake Pokegama we drove or boat up to Zorbaz for lunch. The food was a little pricey but this isn't your average pizza joint, and demand was high (they were swarming with lake lovers) so I'm sure they'd stay busy regardless of what they charged. We had two pizzas and a round of margaritas. We tried the BBQ Chicken and a half taco, half Thai pizza. Both were really good with the BBQ chicken being the fav. I loved all the fresh toppings and hope they piled it really high with garnishes. I also liked the margarita and would desk tell stop back next time or recommend Zorbaz to anyone out on Pokegama!

    Zorbaz : in shambles

Zorbaz is one of the only surf bar experiences available in Grand Rapids, and sorry one at that. The only thing going for this place is location, which I cannot deny is a pleasant way to spend time on the lake. Aside from that, this place is like a Midwest amusement park... Overpriced and Underwhelming. I've only ever the 420 burrito, which I've ordered on three separate occasions. At first I was satisfied with my purchase, but the sobriety of my other two visits told me otherwise. Portions got smaller and over all quality got lazier than a teenager working their last shift of their summer job at the movie theater. Buying a dozen packs of cigarettes and disposing of them to curb addition would be more productive then the 20$ some that I've spend here. However, I will be returning tomorrow for another burrito.

Sarah H. went out of her way to spoil us rotten. SERVICE SCORE -- 10+ The boss ordered the jumbo shrimp (the oxymoron still makes me laugh) and she found them to be satisfactory but not quite stellar. I went with the prime rib and got exactly the cut I asked Sarah to describe to the chef and it was done to a perfect medium rare. For my side, I chose the shrimp bisque and had I known how great that was going to be, I'd have skipped the steak and just ordered a bottomless bowl of the bisque ... YES, it was that good!!! FOOD SCORE -- 4 of 5. But, let's talk about the elephant in the room ... every soul in the house was shouting over the other dozen people at their respective tables... the noise level on a Saturday during the evening rush made me wish I had known to bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones. The noise level might have been partially attributable to the very generous pour that every glass seemed to have. AMBIENCE SCORE -- Ungraded. All in, though, we had a decent meal at a fair price and got top-shelf service from Sarah (the highlight of the visit.) If we were ever in town visiting again, we'd go back.

Our meal…read moretook over two hours, and it very much seemed that the staff believed "sorry we are busy" and a free desert would make it all better. More details below. The food was excellent, except for the falafel. I've never had falafel before that wasn't crispy on the outside. I'm not sure if the dish sat for a while before being served, or if The Pines simply serves it non-crispy. It was soggy. The great food included: Chicken, Scampi, Sea Bass, Walleye Tempura, Popovers, Potatoes, Beets, Cauliflower. All of these were excellent and everyone at our table was so pleased. The service: I'm not sure if I will return. It is unlikely. Our initial round of food appeared very quickly. Things slowed down after that. The rest of the food took an eternity to arrive. I truly considered asking for the bill and leaving before our mains, but we were treating friends. My tiny water glass kept going empty, and finally someone asked if we would like a carafe of water. Yes, yes indeed. Beverages were in general slow. We were told that we would receive a free desert, and asked for the menu. When she came to see what we might order, we had to ask for the menu a second time. More slow. What fun. I privately let our server know I was quite disappointed prior to the bill arriving. I was crystal clear before we ordered that I was to receive the bill. The bill was left on the table with one of my guests. I provided my credit card, and again the bill was left with my female guest. Did you even look at my name on the card (an obviously male name).

The restaurant itself is bright and inviting, the staff is super attentive and friendly and the food is fresh and innovative. Their Risotto was one of my favorite dishes I have ever had and I am still dreaming about the popovers. There is also a speakeasy in the basement and the drinks are delicious! Upscale workout being stuffy. Loved everything about our visit!

I loved the water pitcher, because the four of us were all at least a little hungover so we were going through the water so quickly. I grabbed a lavender oat latte, which was good, but I didn't end up drinking some of it because of my tummy :/ Jo got a chai, which was so good and I wished I got that. The flavor was so yummy and for some reason the spices seemed like they were good for my tum. For food I got the Kremer crepe. It was really good! Truly give me a crepe and I'll be happy because they feel like such a special treat. Lottie got an acai bowl which looked so good, and they said was super yummy. Jo got another crepe, but had ham, so I didn't try. Oh! and I loved the little baby salad that came with my crepe. It was literally just lettuce and a raspberry vinaigrette, but it was so yummy and exactly what I needed at that moment. Felt like it was fresh from a garden. The food took a second to come out, but I think they were understaffed and they had such a tiny kitchen. The servers were very upfront about timing, so we were honestly expecting food to take longer than it did. Happy surprise :) Overall, it was a very cute little place. I definitely would love to go back some time when I am not hungover so I get the full experience.

It took probably 10 minutes for anyone to greet me. There were servers walking past me and I was so confused why no one said hi, or we will be right with you. Nothing. There was a couple of women at a table near me that must have been employees, because the servers kept going over there at chatting. I ordered the salmon with au gratin potato's and Brussel sprouts. The salmon was cooked nicely, but everything was so extremely salty that it made it difficult to enjoy. I tried scraping off as much of sauce on the salmon so I could finish it. Overall, I was really disappointed and won't be back.

Service was excellent. It would be great if they could create more of a dinner atmosphere. The lighting is like being in a conference room.
