Maybe it was a mistake to make a reservation here for Valentine's day, however since they've been around for decades, they should have been better prepared. They did not take last names and wrote resos down on paper, so imagine how many "Matthew for 2"s walked up when called. Our reservation was for 9, we arrived around 8:45 and there were A LOT of people waiting. We didn't get seated until after 10pm. The servers took forever to take our order, even took orders of tables that sat after us. After I waived one server down a second time he had the audacity to say "I didn't even see you" even though he had acknowledged 15 minutes prior that he'd be "right back." My bf came for the ribeye, which they ran out of. He ordered the rib steak but got a filet mignon instead (which is strange bc our bill had the rib steak punched in). I got the scallops and steak. The scallops and the rice were undercooked. We got our food after 11pm and at this point we were both so tired we didn't want to eat anymore so we asked that it be packed up and the server was surprised. When they took our plates, I politely told them that I didn't want anything but just wanted to give them feedback that my bf got the wrong order and the rice was undercooked. They generously offered to pack 2 deserts to go. Not sure if they were offering it to everyone but we appreciated it. Oh ya, not ONCE did anyone apologize for the long wait or chaos, not even the dining room manager who was walking around. We were told that the kitchen was understaff bc 2 people called in sick, but clearly the dining room was also understaffed. I only saw 2 wait staff (one that took orders, one that brought the bill) as well as 1 food runner in our area of 15-20 tables. IT was ridiculous. Everyone around us was grumpy and impatient. Needless to say, we will not return.

I will be back and I recommend this place. It's so good. This is my first time coming here. The Ambiance is OG. Service was great and white glove.

May 25/2014: Dinner with Bruce & Cathy. This is an old fashioned 1970's style steakhouse. With the interior that hasn't been updated since then. When you go there, be ready for a very masculine experience! To start with, our service was both very good & overly rushed. Our server was asking what we'd like to drink the very second we sat down...a little too fast. Afterwords the servers seemed like they were rushing us out the door as quickly as possible. The place was very busy as a note. As for the food....the blue cheese salad dressing was superb. VERY bluecheesie tasting. My main was the 8oz Filet Mignon ($55.95). The meal came with a baked potato that was steamed perfectly & broccoli/carrot combo. Also had a side of mushrooms ($11.99), which were again delicious but a small order for $12.00! All very tasty & perfectly cooked. The steak was fabulous & charcoal broiled. They do know how to do steaks there. I think this place as long as it's open will be a do over.

Dropped into Zorro's to have dinner with a client in Toronto. First impressions, you're pulled to the feel of an older Tuscan-feeling location with detailed textured walls, velvety furniture throughout and dim lighting. Our waiter was from Sparta and settled in the Toronto area 40 years prior but gave a "goodfella" Italian vibe as he served us throughout the night, starting with his appetizer recommendation of scallops (wrapped in bacon), shrimp scampi and oysters (missed taking pics of the appetizers). All three options were great, along with the complimentary olives, pickles and bread provided at the table. Based on Yelp reviews I opted for the peppercorn filet with a baked potato for the side. The steak was delicious and I would recommend it. The potato was the low point of the meal though - a plain potato with sour cream offered but not much else. (Forgot to take pics of the main course) For dessert I opted for the carrot cake and it was tasty. The tiramisu was a hit with several others. Food was good, service was great, ambiance was unique. Solid 4 star meal.

+.5 for service I had a 4 hour layover at Pearson heading back to Winnipeg back in August, so I called my parents to see if they're interested in having lunch, and fortunately they were! Wanting to choose a nice, sit down place near the airport, this place came up and was quite intriguing. The ambiance screams vintage. Old school steakhouse. Definitely quiet since it was around 3pm, but that was expected. The staff was all male, but funny enough...the server refused to take our orders until my mom returned from the washroom (she went to the washroom after she decided what to order, and told my dad...except the server insisted on waiting for my mom to come back). I had a New England clam chowder to start, followed by a nice medium-rare rib steak. The clam chowder was good for Toronto standards, though of course not the best I've had. The rib steak was pretty good! Reasonable price, cooked perfect, with a nice au jus added on top. Great place overall, will definitely recommend to others.

TLDR; You really get what you pay for and much more. Traditional old school Italian restaurant where quantity meets really decent quality. Definitely try their Zorro Cut Prime Rib! This was my 2nd time here and the overall ambience is very old school traditional Italian restaurant. Not shabby but also not upscale, a good in between. Perfect ambience for a quaint date, or friends/family/coworker gathering. They start the table off with deliciously warm and Garlic Buttered Bread Basket (9/10) along with a silver platter of olives, pickles, and butter. I had their Barbequed Rib Starter (7.6/10) and was not expecting that size! Not fall off the bone but it was very tasty. Their Boston Clam Chowder Soup (6.5/10) was very creamy but light on flavour. Their Lobster Tails (7/10) were slightly overcooked but they were massive! Perfect if you're looking for quantity, not to mention it also comes with rice and melted butter Unfortunately, they ran out of their famous Zorro Cut Prime Rib (10/10 would recommend). Our server recommended the Rib Steak (7.8/10) as an alternative and it was equally as hefty but, of course, not the same. We paired it with a side of baked potato w/ sour cream (7.5/10 - gotta let the sour cream sit and melt!) and asparagus (5.5/10). Overall I was super full, we had left overs split of 2 whole meals and the total was just under $300 before tip. Definitely worth the try :) Visited: Wednesday, February 7th @ 6:30PM

I had an amazing meal with professional staff. Highly suggest for a Sunday dinner. Came here after a bodybuilding event with my friend and coach. We also took some photos outside the old beautiful building. Clean bathrooms. Easy parking.

We capped off a perfect meal with a warm pecan tart and ice cream. I highly recommend coming here. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

Back to why I do this. I'm endlessly curious about food, people, and the magic that happens when great meals meet good music. Friendships just seem to evolve naturally around a table. And thank you, E, for another incredible photo -- your choices are always perfect. Mercado on St. Clair is a hidden gem. What was once beside my mom's flower shop downtown has now found a home in a slightly more industrial setting on Caledonia -- and somehow, it works perfectly. Cozy seating inside, a great covered patio outside, and that village-style European restaurant vibe you hope to stumble across. First off, the waiter was phenomenal. He walked us through the menu, explained everything perfectly, and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The menu is massive -- meat, seafood, everything you could want -- but we came for the paella. We were told it takes time because they make it the proper way. Not overly crispy, just authentic, rich, and layered with flavour. Worth every minute of the wait. To start, we had the gambas / shrimp in a rich red garlic and herb sauce plus extra toasted bread for dipping, per our waiter's recommendation. Absolute rockstar move. The other appetizer was a delicious beef stew served over crunchy rustic bread. Simple, hearty, and top notch. Now... drum roll please. This may have been the best paella I've ever had. Okay okay, maybe somewhere along the coast in Spain I've had one fresher... but this was absolutely off the charts. Zero fishy smell. Just beautiful saffron-infused rice with that perfect slight crisp, loaded with mussels, clams, octopus, calamari, shrimp, and more. Built for two people to share and completely unforgettable. A few glasses of house white later and bam - there was absolutely no chance I was going back to work. And dessert? I kept telling myself: "No dessert, Frank. No dessert." But there's a rule in life ; if you see crème brûlée on a menu, you order it. This wasn't exactly crème brûlée, but a cheesecake-inspired version of it. The prices listed below reflect the regular menu, though portions at the event were likely smaller than standard service. The evening began with a beef skewer ($31), featuring cubes of barbecued beef glazed in teriyaki and topped with plenty of chives. Unfortunately, consistency was an issue. Other guests raved about how tender theirs were, while mine arrived overcooked. It wasn't inedible, but it certainly wasn't tender. One of the restaurant's newer additions is its aged fish program, so I was eager to try the dry-aged salmon ($33). Listed as a "crudo," I expected delicate slices in a citrusy sauce, but it arrived as another skewer. The texture was undeniably smooth, with the dry aging removing any chewiness, but the salmon also developed a gaminess that lingered unpleasantly. A marinade or thinner slicing might help balance things out. I'm glad their signature Caesar salad ($24) remains excellent. It's beautifully balanced with acidity, savouriness, and thoughtful touches like buttery breadcrumbs and bacon bits that aren't rock hard. It's still one of the better Caesars in the city, though tableside preparation now costs an additional $10. Fans of tartare will likely appreciate the beef tartare ($41), which is prepared traditionally with minimally dressed hand-cut beef. Personally, I wanted more contrast in texture or flavour, though tartare has never been my go-to dish. I did appreciate the accompaniments of buttery crostini and gem lettuce leaves, which offered a lighter way to enjoy it. And for fans like me, don't worry their cheese bread puffs still make an appearance (along with their take home chocolate muffins). What continues to shine at Jacobs is the steak itself. The 40-day dry aged striploin was cooked beautifully, developing a crust that locked in the juices while maintaining tenderness despite being a leaner cut. The seasoning is more restrained, which allowed the volcanic sea salt and chimichurri on the side to actually enhance the beef rather than overwhelm it. The pecorino broccolini ($22) had me almost finishing off the plate and is such a nice accompaniment with the rich beef. The only disappointment was the duck fat fries ($21), which arrived lukewarm and slightly stale, likely a casualty of serving a packed dining room. Dessert ended the evening on a high note. The crème brulee ($21) was fantastic with visible vanilla bean specks throughout the silky custard. The sugar topping was thin and delicate, avoiding that overly sweet crunch some versions suffer from. Served alongside a sizeable chocolate biscotti and a fragrant orange shortbread cookie, it's easily large enough to share. With the expanded dining room, the front-of-house team has clearly grown as well. The staff is younger and fresher-faced, so any old-school steakhouse stuffiness has largely disappeared. More importantly, the service remains polished and attentive, and we were well taken care of throughout the evening.
