Shawarma, gyros, vegetarian options. Like nothing else I've ever eaten. I've here for 3 iterations and not a lot changes with new names/owners. This iteration is definitely cleaner and friendlier than the last two. So, I'm giving it a review. Worth trying, but don't expect to get out quickly. Zouq is a really lowkey spot that serves Pakistani and Indian food! You kind of seat yourself in the spacious restaurant where you eat off of plastic plates with plastic utensils. The ambiance is very chill, no need to dress fancy at all. I also thought that our "server" was friendly. We got the Chicken Biryani and Mango Lassi. The Chicken Biryani was really tasty! The rice was flavorful and there were several pieces of chicken in the rice. It also came with a side of vegetables and this creamy cilantro sauce. The dish was definitely a bit spicy too. I really enjoyed the Mango Lassi. It was a bit icy, but still very refreshing. Overall, Zouq is a nice place for delicious Indian and Pakistani food! I was trying to find another Indian restaurant nearby since my go-to place at Naan N'Curry seems to go down (I think they changed owners/chefs). Tried Zouq during their buffet lunch hours on the weekday. It was beautiful inside and everyone there were very friendly. You pick your own table, grab your own foods and drinks and pay afterwards. There were a good variety of foods in which they refill constantly and making sure that the surrounding bars were cleaned along the way. My only thing is that I wish they also have some non-spicy dishes. My 6 y.o. child was not able to eat anything there except. They were nice enough to not charge her because of that. read more

We went to Zouq on a quiet Monday evening for dinner and were the only ones there. The ambiance is unassuming and simple - order at the counter, plastic plates and utensils, and open seating. Even though we were the only ones there, we did have to wait a bit for our food. The wait is beyond worth it. We experienced fantastic flavors, huge portions, and incredibly fresh food overall. We got the chicken korma (decently spicy), the kadhi pakora curry, garlic naan, and rice. We also got a mango lassi (amazing). In terms of value, I can't readily think of a place that has more. There was so much food that we ended up eating leftovers for two more days. We will absolutely be back for the buffet, and if you're in the area, this is a can't-miss spot. read more

I found this place at the last minute today and am glad that I did! Read Michael W's review, I couldn't say it any better. Definitely no frills. Styrofoam plates, plastic utensils. Nobody serves you and you throw your trash away yourself. You're not leaving a tip for anyone. I was confused when I first got there as I thought I had to wait on someone to seat me, but from what I can understand, no need to wait, just go find a table and help yourself immediately to the buffet. Pay afterwards. I came in around 2:15 and things were still good, even though the owner apologized and told me that it's better earlier. I still thought everything was good and noticed that fresh items were still brought out, that late in the day. I was surprised to see beef on the buffet but again, thank you to Michael W for explaining. I tried what appeared to be the beef curry and it was fantastic. I even told this to the owner. Yeah, it's definitely a good stop for lunch and a great value. I ate my meal between 2:15 and 2:45 today and here it is hours later, and I'm certain that this is going to be my only meal for the day. If you turn into this plaza from Sweetwater Road, you will encounter a horde of speed bumps. Be wary if you think that will be a problem for particularly low vehicles or sensitive individuals. Otherwise, the parking is free and plentiful in front of the restaurant. This review is for the weekday lunch buffet between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM on Tuesdays through Friday. Although the restaurant opens at 11:30 AM, the buffet may take additional time to finish preparing as it was around 11:50 AM when it was ready, which is something to keep in mind if you're short on time... though I imagine that shouldn't be a problem for those indulging in a buffet, haha! Upon entering Zouq, I believe you can immediately start serving yourself food and sit down at any open table if you're here for the lunch buffet. If you're here for lunch a la carte ordering, you will have to remain at the host station and request the menu for that. There is a beverage shelf next to the host station that is an additional fee for any of the canned and bottled drinks. Water and hot tea are provided in the dining area on a table with salt, pepper, and what looks like coffee or tea enhancements. The no-frills lunch buffet is completely self-serve with styrofoam plates, styrofoam cups, and plastic utensils. You are expected to toss your disposables as well. The variety of dishes is wonderful because so many different flavors are present: creamy and savory (chicken tikka masala), creamy and mild (kadi pakora), buttery (naan), citrusy and spicy (chicken tikka leg), sour (beef qeema), sweet (soji halwa). The majority of their curries and meat dishes are flavorful, aromatic, and spicy. I would be cautious if you have a low spice tolerance. There's also a salad bar. My plates were mostly enjoyed by dipping spring rolls and naan into whatever curry fancied my plate and chomping on any of their chicken dishes. There's actually so much more going on with how delicious the food is at Zouq, but I am not so knowledgeable about Pakistani and Indian food and their seasoning blends to be able to describe much. When the feast ends, you go to the host station to pay. There is no tip for the buffet, and the owner/host does not prompt you for one. Any additional beverages you grabbed will be charged with your buffet price. The base price of the buffet is $10.99 as of this review, which I would consider an amazing bargain! Additionally, the lunch buffet may not be available during the holy month of Ramadan, so I would recommend looking that up or calling ahead if your sole intention is the lunch buffet. The ambience is casual. There are ornate chairs and decorations in the dining room, which are beautiful. The ventilation and/or breeze is fairly strong inside the dining area when turned on, so there's a chance a person could become cold from it or their tableware could blow off if empty. read more

This place has not been open that long. It is in the location of the old Pitted Date restaurant. You turn off Pleasant Hill on Sweetwater Rd. Take the second right which is quite soon. You will see a building with no signs at all. DONT stop there, veer father back to the right and you will see the old Pitted Date signs on the side of the building and this restaurant is inside. $10.99 is a really good price now that things have gone up everywhee. There are 14 food bins in the buffet lineup. If your a VEG be forwarned there is often beef on the buffet. It is Beef Haleem. If you know Pakistani food you know it. If you dont cheeck out youtubes and watch them make it. This is something really rare to find on a $19.99 buffet. You will probably pay over twice that elsewhere if you can even find it. (you can but often only certain days) and expect to pay a lot. They put out icewater and coffee with cream already added and its included in the buffet. If you want any other drinks you can get one off the wall and pay for it. There seems to be a LOT of room here. So just GO anytime there is the buffet, Mon-Thurs 11a-300p. I just left this restaurant and I will not return again. I ordered online but the staff did not know that. I stood at the cashier for almost 5 min without any acknowledgment from the staff, even though they saw me there. A lovely Indian family came in after me and was seated right away.
