Rosario Works Magic! I recently moved back to SGV from the Westside and was in desperate need of a good stylist. Naturally, I searched Yelp for my fellow Yelpers' recommendations. Came across Rosario's page and after comparison "shopping" I knew I had to book an appointment with her. I hadn't colored my hair in ages; I used to go red all the time, and then when I stopped dying my hair, I attempted to dye it back to the natural "Asian" black, but the color wouldn't take and I ended up with what looked like a "Wannabe Ombre" (definitely not what I intended to do with my hair!) My first time with Rosario, I let her know what I wanted for my hair: subtle color/highlights only noticeable in certain lighting and fullness to my stick straight hair. I also let her know I'm the type of gal who is a "get up and go" on the weekdays, and only styles it when I know I want to go out. Lastly, I told her I was growing my hair out but understood that hair grows faster when it's healthy. She worked her magic with not only the color but her scissors and then she finished it off by styling my hair while giving me pointers on how to find time to get some style even with my "get up and go" schedule on the weekdays. As of this review, I've already seen her twice, and will continue showing up every 8 weeks to let her do her thing because I've gotten so many compliments about what her work has done for my beautiful head of hair and I want to keep 'em coming. Yelp deleted my review update of PG&Co where I mention how awesome Rosario is, so I'm finally leaving a review here. Back in 2002 (my junior year of college), I made the mistake of getting my hair colored and cut at what I thought was a nice salon in Berkeley. It was just over-priced and terrible. During one of my trips home to San Gabriel, Rosario was such a lifesaver! She's had years of experience and is the absolute best when it comes to color. My hair can be hard to work with because it's really thick and somewhat curly on the inside, but Rosario worked her magic and says that it's not a big deal because lots of her clients have super curly and thick hair. I've gone through a lot of different hairstyles (both long and short) and I always get compliments after my appointments with Rosario. From 2002 and up until I decided to move back to the LA area in 2005, I would always wait until it was time to fly home to get my hair done. The one time I didn't, I ended up with a strange mullet-like cut at yet another terrible Berkeley salon and I totally regretted it. Now that I live in the area, Rosario is the only person I go to for my haircuts. I always feel like a new person after my appointments with her. I hate having my hair cut. I've tried many places throughout the years and I'm usually met with a lot of criticism which then makes me uncomfortable and dread my appointments. I've been looking for a place I can make a regular spot with no luck. Each place I try I'm always hoping for the best and I think I've finally found it.
