First of all I'd like to say support small family owned local businesses, like this one. I was on my way home from a road trip to the mukilteo light house when I stopped at the convenience store to pee and get a snack. I saw a burger stand and walked over to check it out and saw kids playing in the front of the building and decided to go in. I could tell it was a family owned spot right away. The daughter was gate keeping the bathroom but it's ok because it was very clean and nice and I totally get not wanting it to be just a rest stop. The mom and pop/grandma and grandpa are so cute they seem like a lovely family and the service was nice. Anyways onto the actual review I love a good old fashioned style American burger stand. This place had the old style coke burger stand seats, j loved it. The decor is old style Americana, it reminded me a lot of burger stands when I was a little kid. I got the double deluxe with cheese and it was massive. It had everything you'd expect from a deluxe but it had "Big Mac" style sauce which is my favorite. I loved the burger and the decor. She gave my order to the wrong person.. then went out to the parking lot and got my order back. Got home and there was a bite out of my burger!!! Took it back 15 min drive...no sorry nothing ..They dropped the bag in the garbage and gave me another burger...no sorry no compensation... and asked for 75 cents for a tarter sauce... Tasty burger! With the insane price of fast food, we can't afford to grab a burger very often so I hate to be disappointed when we do splurge. I got a double because I was starving. Since these weren't skinny "smash" patties (which I normally prefer), I got my fill and had to wrap half and save it for later. It was a nice juicy thicker patty with generous toppings for a relatively decent price. Pro tip... grab a bag and drive a few minutes and have lunch at the beach. Just lovely! read more

Not a fan after my visit. When I ordered, I was told I could build my own burger, but the staff member taking my order came off really rude and dismissive. I was polite and tried to be clear when asking questions or making changes, but she kept giving me weird looks like I was bothering her--even though I was just doing what she said I could. The food itself didn't help the experience either. The burger patty was clearly frozen--no grill marks, no sear, just this dense meatloaf texture that felt like it was microwaved. And the ranch? Z's is my favorite burger place in the Mukilteo area. I have been going here for years when I worked at Boeing and just stopped by last week for lunch with my daughter. I was disappointed to see they don't have their dining room open. It is essentially a storage area for them. I miss sitting among all the cool stuff they have decorating inside the restaurant. They have lots of airplanes hanging from the ceiling and now they have Coca Cola themed items everywhere. Very cool inside decorating. A collector's paradise! They told us we could sit at the counter area by the roll up door which was a decent compromise. I had the Flaming Burger which has Lettuce, tomato, avocado, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, flaming sauce and my daughter had the California Burger which has Lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese, special sauce. We also shared an order of the fries which are always cooked fresh and perfectly. My Flaming Burger was very messy and it was at least a 10 napkin experience. I wasn't too big of a fan for this one but had to try it. My daughter thought the burger on hers tasted like it was previously frozen or something like that. Oh, by the way, burgers are a la carte so they seem cheap but that's all you get. Ordering fries is a must but are extra. I remember this place being better but it's been a while since I've come here so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. WOW. If you want to see where old Coca Cola clutter goes to die this is your Dust Bunny Dump. Their ability to cook a burger and dust their Coca-Cola clutter is about on par. Many items of discussion after a visit, but, let's first dive into the Head Chef's talent. His cooking utensil of choice must be a butter knife, not to butter the buns with, but to chisel apart the burger patties. These meat circles have a light freezer burnt taste with a hint of a dying dairy cow, and the texture of an old band-aid. Obviously the reefer on the storage unit broke down just south of Kuala Lumpur adding to the rock hard texture. The chef's talent was tested. Mission; to slightly burn the top of the hamburger bun, but at the same time, leave the inside stale, moist and doughy. The Bun looked like it had been used as tire chock for a Chrysler 300 off of Casino Road.  The cheese on the other hand was about the thickness of a melted model airplane. Bundle these flavors together and you have a stomach ache with a date with a Bemis. Now.....if you're going to order fries, better off just getting fish sticks. The flavor profile is that of a washed up Muskogee bloated Lake Carp in August and Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30. The fries taste like they've done more rounds in the fryer than Mike Tyson. The last item is business is the chocolate shake. I'm going to guess either Great Value choco sauce from Walmart or a blended Ensure drink from Virgina Mason. Either way, I'd be surprised if you make it home without doing the leg shake or the butt cheek clench. Let's not forget you cannot eat in this place. Nope. Don't even think about it Bird Brain! If your butt cheeks even graze one of their 30 stools out front, you're ass is grass. Even if you wanted to dine in, you'd have to pull up a cheap Chinese eBay vinyl wrapped all American Coca-Cola bar stool around a JC Whitney truck bed diamond plate counter. The rest of the restaurant looks like a sale rack from the Alderwood Hobby Lobby. My guess is it could be the next episode of storage wars if you put a padlock on the front door.  To conclude; in between my broken piggy bank spent on Charmin and a worn out plunger handle, I can totally see why they don't want you to sit on a stool or squeeze out a stool.  This place is a complete dump. Anything more than one star, then you're playing Pai Gow at the Great American Casino with the owners. Looks like this place has made it this many years in this location swindling innocent ferry traffic patrons into thinking its an authentic 50's diner experience. The only thing that got swindled was the ferry commuters Fruit of the Looms, and the poor ferry deckhand who had to scrub the toilet bowl. The only authentic part of this diner is the dust and the Dust-grunteled owners attitudes.  Did I mention dust? read more

Ok I'm going to start with the ambiance. Between the coca-cola decorations and airplanes hanging from the ceiling it was amazing. I loved just standing in the place. There a few seats to sit at the bar but inside dining is closed, but there is also outside seating at the window bar area. The service was easy and they were nice. It's a family owned restaurant and they were fast and efficient. Now the food was amazing, the burger fries and the peanut butter banana milkshake. So tried the chili cheese dog, chili cheese fries and onion rings. So two chili dogs onion rings and chili cheese fries $34.00. The chili dog was sliced and served on a hamburger bun. It was tasty with red onions. The onion rings were crisp and well cooked. The fries was a massive tray and were cooked perfectly. The chili itself was definitely from a can and I was not a huge fan. I loved the decor. The burgers were average. The garlic fries are amazing, definitely not lacking on the garlic. The old school glass bottles of Dr. Pepper are awesome. Delicious! Passing through Mukilteo and needed some food. This place was great! Typical burger joint deliciousness but with a bonus: the burgers were not so greasy that they fell apart and made a giant mess. Fresh toppings made the burger huge and the bun stayed intact and delicious. Fries were yum. Onion rings pretty standard but fried to perfection. As a local, this has been my go-to burger joint for years. Yes, it's a little more pricey than McDonald's but you get so much more value. The burgers are a great size with a good proportion of bun, meat, veggies, sauce and extras; plenty filling for a typical meal, and if you're extra hungry with someone else, get some fries. The fries are so good. Seriously. And as for some of the other reviews complaining about service, don't be scared off - they're plenty friendly if you're friendly in return :o) Recently tried the new Jam burger. Really tasty (and creative??). Other favorites are the Hawaiian, Chickenwhich and Santa Fe. Stop by and give it a try sometime! Their menu has something for everyone. read more

This is the single worst experience I have ever had at any public establishment. This is not an exaggeration, please read to the end. My girlfriend and I were driving and briefly glimpsed their beautiful Coca-Cola display from the road, and it was enough to pique our interest. As I walked inside, I looked at the display and exclaimed to the cashier that I thought it was amazing! I was met with an awkward half-smile and was asked if I was planning on ordering anything within less than a minute of arriving. That felt off, but I decided to order anyway; a large order of fries. As we were waiting for our food, my girlfriend and I took some pictures of the display. Evidently, the cashier noticed this and reported it to the owner, who came storming out of the kitchen and confrontationally told me to stop taking pictures. I was caught off guard, as this is a public eating establishment, but I still obliged. I innocently apologized and asked if there was a sign I missed somewhere, to which he annoyedly said he shouldn't need one. Following this he stormed back into the kitchen, which I believed was the end of it. I was proven wrong moments later when he brazenly came out of the kitchen AGAIN and belligerently demanded to know why he should need a sign to keep "kids like me" from photographing his display. I had enough at this point and told him that if he didn't want paying customers to photograph his display in his public restaurant, then he should put up a sign. At this point, every other customer in the restaurant was staring at the altercation, so I decided to just abandon my food and leave with my very embarrassed girlfriend. I'm not sure if the owner was just having a bad day, but outside of the completely unreasonable treatment of customers, this is just a terrible business strategy. I wouldn't know since I didn't actually get to try my food, but judging by the other reviews the display seems to be the main thing they have going for them. This is further accentuated by the fact that they have closed down the majority of their dining room in order to keep it up. Letting people photograph it and share it is only going to bring more people in, and in my opinion, this lack of foresight and outburst of anger is telling of the condition and management competency of the business. If your business treats customers this way, you don't deserve to stay in business. Don't give these people another dime. read more

Onion rings and milkshakes. These are my favorite things on the menu here. This place has a very cool menu of burgers. Many that are named after Boeing aircraft as a lot of the lunch crowd comes from Boeing. They are phenomenal at deep frying things. You'd be surprised that the fish and chips are delightfully crisp and light. They use a different breading that is not so greasy like Ivar's and other traditional fish and chip places. The milkshakes are thick, flavorful, and refreshing. Oh, and the burgers are big, juicy, and filling. It might be best to split a burger, onion rings, and a shake with someone.
