I highly recommend their jalapeño hummus. They use real lemons and olive oil which I can appreciate in a world filled with concentrates and fake foods. What a happy find!! I was driving on 19th and saw the sign... The next day I tried the hummus, babaganoush, and falafel appetizers with a friend who had never before had babaganoush or falafel. I was so happy because everything was seasoned well (we got the jalepeño hummus). My friend agreed that everything was delicious. The next week, I brought my husband, DIL and 2 year old grandson. We ALL ate happily. My DIL and I both got the falafel plates, my husband got a gyro pita. and we ordered a LARGE babaganoush appetizer for the table. We all shared bites of our food with my grandson, who liked the gyro meat the best (no surprise), but he happily gobbled up the hummus, babaganoush, falafel, pita bread, and rice. I cannot believe I let so much time go before I tried Zuki's. I literally live within walking distance. So I'm very comfortable in this "dodgy" Neighborhood Today we ordered the Zuki's Combo and a falafel sandwich. The combo was so much food. And I never say that. I can always eat everything I get .this literally did not get eaten at once and I had leftovers for dinner because we got it for lunch. It was nice to try all three kinds of meat I love the beef and the chicken the third one was OK not my favorite. Nothing to do with Zuki's. I usually don't like that type of meat but I'm always willing to try it at a new place. The Greek salad was amazing it was just so good and I loved it, even though it's simple it was so flavorful. The pita was good and the hummus was awesome I was just eating spoonfuls of it alone, I don't know if that's gross but I did it LOL. And the falafel sandwich was the best falafel sandwich I've ever had I can't wait to go back and get it again. I'm so glad they opened near me. It's strange for such a "dodgy" neighborhood, We now have two of the best restaurants in Phoenix Zuki's and Da vang And both are hundreds of feet apart. This is a mixed review. I have had their food and it's good. I came back with a friend to show him but we encountered some bad service. It's totally understandable that because of the area of the restaurant they are concerned about people misusing their bathroom facilities. However, we just had a car issue and needed to wash our hands real quick before we started touching money, screens etc. As soon as we went directly for the bathroom they didn't say anything to me but they did stop friend who is a dark skinned Mexican. I don't know if it was race related but that was the biggest difference. As soon as he tried to explain that he was going to wash his hands before he placed his order the told him no they the bathrooms were for paying customers only. Then an older gentleman stepped in, didn't apologize but proceeded to explain their policy. I walked out and they were still debating and then asked us if we were going to order. I looked at my friend and he said he didn't feel comfortable so we left. That was a sad day. I really wanted to show him that their food was good. The first time I came their service was pretty non existent but they weren't rude, just not friendly. It's very clean inside considering the neighborhood and I do believe their food is very good and deserves a lot of attention. Anyhow, that is my review and experience. Just an additional note after the owner posted his - Mind you, Middle Eastern Bakery, Nino's Greek Cafe, and George's Kitchen and Greek Town, are all Mediterranean style food and their restrooms and restaurants are clean. They are incredibly friendly and their food is also good. They are very welcoming. :( also I didn't say it was a race thing, I did point it out as a difference because my friend felt singled out. I was on a break during jury duty so decided to try to find a place with gyros. Most gyros places I've been to in AZ are mediocre at best but I decided to give it a try being I'm not on this side of town often. I ordered the gyro plate and got an incredible and juicy sliced gyro meat on top of a bed of long grain rice that was perfect and fluffy. Also came with a pita, hummus and a salad. Long did I wait for Zuki's Pita to open up. Passing by this location almost daily, I watched with eager anticipation as construction progressed. Maddeningly, they by started by putting up the sign on the door saying Zuki's Pita, but the weeks stretched into months, and I feared that something had derailed it before it ever opened. And then, one day, it was open! But could it live up the anticipation of a four-month wait? By and large, yes it does. Since their opening in October 2019, I've been here multiple times. I didn't want to come in here just once when they were new and give them a review. All restaurants have a settling in period, but these folks hit the ground running. The first thing you'll notice is that the shopping plaza they're in is... let's be generous and call it "humble." That might put you off, but don't let it. The surroundings belie the interior of the restaurant, which is clean, bright and modern, and the food is prepped behind the counter and in sight. The TV in the corner always seems to be playing a soccer match or a somewhat incongruous musical presentation where a placard with the name of a European country is showing on the screen while some instrumental piece of music evocative of that country plays. On our most recent visit, it was showing "Italy" while playing "'O Sole Mio." It is a little weird, but it gives a sort of European street cafe vibe to the place. The folks who run the place have been unfailingly warm and generous. In the end, though, it's really all about the quality of the food. Over about ten visits, I've had their kafta kabobs, steak kabobs, chicken kabobs, beef shawarma, and gyros, plus salads, fries, yellow and biriyani rice, and a couple of desserts that aren't even listed on the menu board. My favorite is the kafta kabob. Being ground beef and spices, kafta kabobs can vary significantly from restaurant to restaurant. Zuki's are on the more mildly-spiced side, but tasty and not dry. In fact, I would say all of the meat kabobs have a nice, subtle spice to them. The sauces that are served with them complement the meats nicely. If there were any of the dishes I didn't care for, it would be the beef shawarma, but shawarma is always a bit hit or miss with me, so your mileage may vary. On the one occasion I tried it at Zuki's it was perhaps overcooked and tough. I plan to try it again someday when the beef shawarma on the rotisserie is looking especially fresh. With regards to the sides, I quite enjoy their yellow and biriyani rice. Their salad is... a salad. Their french fries are plentiful and have a unique seasoning to them that's quite interesting. Their plates are served with humus; however, I don't eat humus. I'm told by dining partners that the humus "is good." I've had two desserts, a baklava and a cake-like thing, soaked in something like syrup or honey. Both very good. I would definitely recommend this place to others. read more

Just tried this place for the first time and am sooo glad we did! I've missed getting good Mediterranean food since moving from the East coast and Zuki's gets it right. The flavors and textures are all there, the meat was all tender and moist... The hummus is perfectly smooth and rich, the chicken melted in your mouth. I can't wait to come back for a gyro, the gyro meat was outstanding. The beef had perfectly balanced cumin goodness. Not a single criticism of the food but did wish there was harissa. Update your hours if you close at 8:30. I shouldn't have to drive 20 minutes and reach there by 8:35 to learn that you guys close earlier than mentioned on Yelp and google. So, how did you know that I didn't make the drive and then decide to make the call? What the heck are you talking about? I've been traveling for the last 10 years my entire life (every single week for work) and I know enough that kitchens are open even 5-10 minutes before the actual close. Maybe you should mention that on Yelp that your kitchens close 30 minutes prior!!? I mean I understand a sit-in fancy steak place closing down their kitchen 30 or even 60 minutes prior, not a fast food place. I was a bit concerned that the place was so clean and modern looking, that fast food establishment slick look. But this place is legit. I got the zuki combo to sample everything and it's hard to pick a favorite kebab. Everything was so flavorful and full of juicy meat goodness. Hummus was a rockstar all on it's own. I love this place. Amazing food with generous portions for a great price. All of the protein varieties are amazing, but I've been doing the chicken and beef shawarmas lately. Everything is so flavorful and well seasoned, the veggies are fresh, and the tzatziki is tangy, creamy, and herbaceous. No detail is missed. I could go on about the delicious rice or the fries (celery salt is the secret) but you get the point. I was in the area and found the little gem of a restaurant. It's was good authentic food. The neighborhood is so so but the restaurant has it own parking right in front. Nice atmosphere inside with music and videos from all over the world. Staff was friendly as well.
