I went to zumiez with a few buddies of mine and was greeted by a worker named Iyayi. Such a great guy, very enthusiastic, welcoming, friendly, and great sense of humor. He honestly made my shopping experience super enjoyable. The young man had such a positive attitude and had such great energy. I came in here with my brother awhile back.. and upon entering we were treated rudely... we were in the back checking out the decks and this rude employee came over and told us "I don't care if you don't buy anything doesn't bother me." Not sure why she said that to us, but as we were leaving everyone in there treated us rudely and wouldn't get out of our way, this place is never crowded NOW we know why. This place is run by children. Really. High school kids at the oldest. They all wear the skin-tight tapered jeans and tiny zipper hoodies. They don't know anything about anything, but the store itself ain't so bad. Considering it IS in the mall. A good place to cruise the sale shoes, and they sometimes have a decent hat selection. A lot of youthful surf/skate/snow brands, but nothing particularly different than any other junk chain shop of the same style. read more

I shop here to pick up a lot of collaborations from Neff and several other brands and I've been very fortunate to have has some of these hard working "kids" as one reviewer called them, but I find Andy and the other staff members to be very smart & capable, much ahead of their age bracket. I've had several items sold out on me, however, this Staff, Andy in particular, go above and beyond to search the corporate system and get transferred to the local store, EVERYTHING I have bought has literally needed their creativity to procure for me and I cannot appreciate or be happier with the Staff, Store and Service I am treated to here. Went into this store today with my daughter. First thing I heard as I stepped in was "f***" something or other blasting on the sound system. Hung out awhile to confirm what I was hearing. In 10 minutes i heard every form of profanity: "N" word repeatedly, "ass" word, "bitch" a song with the main lyrics were "shit, shit, shit." Moms were present with little ones. Is this now considered ok with people???!!! Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe me but leave your kids at home. read more

This place is atrocious. I would give it a half star if I could. I don't normally like Zumiez to begin with and prefer to support local skate shops but seeing as I got a gift card to their store for Christmas as well as a skate deck I decided to go in and try and buy some grip tape for the deck and some wheels. Firstly, the staff is all essentially in high school so unless you enjoy being talked down to by teenagers this place is already worth avoiding. Secondly, when asking about what grip and wheels they have the person, who I guess was the manager (appointed by what standards I'm not sure, most likely necessity from people quitting since every time I've ever been in there they have an entirely new staff) wasn't even sure what they had in stock, and in front of me had to just rummage through their products and read the names off. And then lastly and most importantly, the deck I had received as a gift hadn't been removed from the plastic wrap yet so when I went to pay for the wheels I wanted, the guy thought I had taken the deck from behind the counter, despite him clearly watching me not do so the whole time. He then thought I was planning on not paying for it and in his infinite wisdom and customer service skills without checking his own stock to see that I hadn't taken anything or any action of the sort he preceded to ask for a receipt and when I said I didn't have one because it was a gift, he grabbed the board and tried to pull it from my hands. This resulted in a tug-a-war for MY board that ended with him yelling at me to "GET THE F OUT MY STORE" I tried to return to the store once, simply to get rid of this gift card, and without discussing anything he told me to leave and to "Never f-ing come back to this store or I'm calling the cops" I wish I could complain to the manager and get that guy fired, but now I can't even go in without birdbrain blowing a gasket and calling security. Seriously, avoid this place like the plague. read more

Management at the Santa Rosa, CA store as well as at other Zumiez locations seems to not recognize that skateboarders and snowboarders and surfers, and other youth who would shop there ARE NOT ALL WHITE! One would think that the corporate offices would have clued the management in on this, as the Seattle/Everett area has been known for diversity friendliness. Zumiez Stores needs to get a clue and do what it takes to appreciate and develop a more diverse customer base. Shoppers like to buy from people they can identify with. read more

Someone really needs to talk to employees about respectfulness. I walked into the store employee look dad and me didn't say hi in the music is so loud you can't hear yourself think! I would have purchase something for my son if the employees had a greeted me and or the music wasn't so damn loud! I mean Club loud! Management really needs to do something about that! read more

We tried to return a sweater and got passed off twice. The original person to pass us off was the manager and another employee had to go get him when he was the original person who said he couldn't help us. They have pretty terrible customer service. I read another review that said this place was run by kids. Well, that may be true, but one gal in particular 'Mitch' is AWESOME. She knows the ins and outs of everything about skateboards. AND, she knows what is good for different skill levels, what kids like etc... And, she is very helpful. And, others there have been helpful too. Teens LOVE this place and the selection can be really good at times. We buy shoes, boards, and ski clothing here. If I could suggest something then it would be to have more "walk around room' There is so much stuff here that it is hard to get by people. And for them to open up more registers at times. read more

After shopping around for a new snowboard, I came here to check it out. Mike and Anita let me search with them on their computer to find me the perfect board. Not only did I receive the best customer service I think I've ever received, but Mike (the manager) told me if I needed my board set up right away and he was not there, he would come in to help me. Geez, I am a happy customer. Not only did I get a great snowboard, but a place to shop where they remember me every time I come in! read more

As a 70+ woman, I don't expect great service in sporting good stores, but Ian at Zumiez in the Santa Rosa Plaza was awesome. He listened to what I needed (a helmet for my disabled son), recommended a couple and gave suggestions about fitting. The only reason I would give this zumiez even one star is because of the helpful girls that work here. But for the Manager and his other little boy co-worker, they both need to be fired ASAP! Usually I would never bad talk someone at their job, but it's getting redonculous. I came in to get some shoes. First they both attack me for buying a beanie at vans, even though I was about to spend a few hundred on shoes at their store. Then I brought up some other good models of shoes and the manager got in my face and started raising his voice being very aggressive telling me the shoes I want are horrible, and telling me that no one skates those anymore in a very rude way. Then my girlfriend comes in who just got some non skate shows from another mall location. And the manager starts giving her guff for not buying shoes from zumiez.... Within 3 minutes he blew a few hundred dollar sale to me and assured that we will never ever go to this zumiez again..and that's saying a lot since we usually do all our Xmas shopping, winter board shopping ad skate shopping at zumiez. If your in Santa Rosa go to skate works their super friendly there! This is probably my 10th horrible experience with the rude boys at zumiez... Skate works is the only place I will go now.
