I was asked to be a groomswoman and it was clear that professional hair and makeup was strongly encouraged. I'm usually a no frills kind of girl but I needed to look like "I tried for the bride." All the bridesmaids were getting their hair and makeup done, assembly line style in their hotel room in Jersey. There was no way I was going to do that... Enter Zuleika, my hero and my new best friend. She was willing to see me at the ungodly hour of 9am (even though her hours usually start at 11). She patiently listened to me panic, heard me out that I didn't want to look like a pre-madonna, but that I just wanted some sort of fun braid updo with simple makeup to highlight my eyes and cheekbones. We laughed until we cried. And 2 hours later, I didn't even recognize myself. I came in acting like no frills plumber, but left a princess, galloping away on white pony! Compliments were off the charts. I even think the bridesmaids were secretly jealous. My girlfriend could not take her eyes off of me. Let me tell you something about this little shop. It is full of huge talent. I got tape in extensions done here a few months ago. They walked me through the process from beginning to end. They planned every step. They started with picking the color and the style and telling me where to get it. They got me colored to make sure everything matched. The colorist, Chelsea, did such a great job with the color and zulieka (the owner) did a great job with the install of the extensions and the style. If I could give Saint Rose ten stars I would. I came here for the first time on Saturday to get an updo for my best friend's wedding. The time that Zuleika took to understand what exactly I was looking for was unmatched. She explained everything she was doing and made sure that I was cool with it. Even when I asked for adjustments, she was more than happy to accommodate. I must've shown her four different Pinterest photos for inspiration and the end result was the perfect combination or collab as she called it :) I personally hate having my picture taken but my hair came out so well, we had a legit photo shoot and I loved every second of it. Zuleika and her assistant did my makeup for my wedding this past weekend, and also did the makeup for several of my female friends and relatives. Everyone had a fantastic experience. Even though my cousin and her three daughters were an hour late to our appointment, Zuleika made it work--I never would have expected her to do something like that! She's also friendly and personable and easy to be around, which is so fantastic to have in a makeup artist. It makes everything feel so much more fun and relaxed, and in addition to her beautiful talent as a makeup artist, she's a beautiful person. Exactly the type of person you want to surround yourself with on special occasions! There was no wedding-day-drama, no fuss, no muss... The stylists at this salon have tons of experience behind the chair in salons and just as much experience backstage at fashion week and on photoshoots. For me, finding a stylist that has a balance between trends and high fashion is really important, and these stylists know how to deliver! My go to stylist at Saint Rose is Chelsey Drapeau. I used to travel all the way to New Hampshire just to get a cut and color from her, but now I am nice and spoiled and I have her close to home! She gets me. Her ability to mix foil highlights and balayage is the prefect way to get my hair as blonde as I like it without compromising the integrity of my hair's health. This salon is amazing! It has the cutest vibe ever. Zuleika the salon owner did a Brazilian Blowout on my hair. Normally it takes 30 minutes to blowout but after this treatment it took 10 minutes!
