Stephan C. (#88) from 1-800-Appliance is extremely professional, prompt, and efficient. Stephan showed up right when the company said he would be at our house. Stephan is friendly and he got straight to the point to take care of our problem. He knew exactly what to do and he had all of the parts in his truck. Stephan is very knowledgeable of the product and he took care of everything efficiently. We wish we would have known about Stephan C. (#88) at 1-800-Appliance before calling some other place about a repair on our washer. We would definitely recommend Stephan and specifically request him as the repair person if we ever have further need in the future. The problem was we made a purchase in June 2016 for a new compact dryer. The first delivery in July was a defective product and the second delivery in August was just as bad. The store recommended 1-800-Appliance and we were lucky to get Stephan. Hopefully the dryer will last another 20 years. read more

I had this company service appliances still under warranty twice. Both times, I found service tech to be condescending, arrogant, and aloof; finding every reason to abdicate service while charging Whilrpool for warranty work. I would give this company 0 stars if I could. If you have an appliance in need of repair, RUN don't walk, as far away from this company as you can. Let's have a walk through memory lane and what I have dealt with regarding this company. September 26: my washer breaks, I contact the property management company to fix it October 3: Rubin comes out from 1800 Appliance to assess the problem. He takes a 5 second look at the washer (from the top, he did not bother to look around or open it). He says he "knows what the problem is" and that it will be "$500 to fix" and that it will make a "huge mess". I politely let him know that it's not my property and I will have to leave the decision up to my landlord. October 10: Landlord agrees to repair washer, I begin contacting 1800 Appliance to have the repair done. October 20: I follow up with 1800 Appliance on the status of this order, wait on a call back. October 24: I follow up with 1800 Appliance again; the order had not been placed (2 weeks after the landlord approved the repair). Schedule the repair for Monday, October 31. October 31: Technician calls in sick, 1800 Appliance asks me to reschedule! November 1: New technician (Greg) comes out to fix the washer. The original technician (Rubin, who was lazy and did not even look inside to see what the washer looked like) misdiagnosed the problem insofar as he did not see what would be necessary to fix the washer. November 2: Property management meets another technician at the unit to have the repair completed. Then, we get this email: I hope you two are having a great Wednesday! Today, at 9:00am I entered your property with 1800 appliance. After two hours, the repairman told me that he was unable to repair it at the house and that it must be repaired at a 1800 appliance warehouse. After being a bit frustrated, I let him know that I wanted to repair to be done today. He let me know that he is going to do everything in his power to have it done today but he could not guarantee me that it would be done today. He let me know that if he was not able to repaired it today that it would be repaired tomorrow. I wanted to know if I could enter your property again tomorrow if the repair is not complete. 1800 Appliance should be contacting me shortly with a confirmed time / date. I just wanted to get this email out to you as quickly as possible to keep you in the loop. Again, I greatly apologize for the inconvenience. I will do everything possible on my end to get you a working washer. November 3: Email from property management: I just got off the phone with 1800 appliance. They let me know that the part that needs to be repaired is unrepairable and that the part needs to be replaced. They let me know that the part would take 2-3 weeks to come in. I told them that this is unacceptable and spoke to the owner of the company. 1800 appliance is going to get the part in by next Wednesday. If the part comes in the morning they can fix it that day. If it comes in the afternoon they will make an appointment on Thursday to fix it. If neither of you can make the appointment I would be more than happy to fill in again to let them in. The washer should be addressed by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. I will continuously follow up with 1800 appliance to make sure that happens. November 10 (yes, over FIVE WEEKS after initial contact with 1800 Appliance!) I call to schedule the repair. I am told that the fix may not happen today and I am told that there is "no" way for any of the employees at 1800 Appliance to know how long it will take because the part might arrive "too late" today to fix it. I ask to be contacted by a supervisor when I call at 8:30am. At 1pm, I receive a call back that essentially echoes earlier sentiments and continues to show the lack of professionalism displayed by the company throughout the entire process. We are still waiting for this repair, and in the meantime 1800 Appliance has taken 0 responsibility for the delays that they have caused or the professionalism they have lacked. I have used this company many times, with mostly great results. I think Robbie has been excellent. However, I had a big problem with the company this past week and I'd like to warn potential customers. I have a subzero fridge/freezer combo. The freezer started losing the ability to maintain the cold. Robbie came out and diagnosed the problem. I asked for repair to be made. Repair was scheduled for a few days later. All good so far. Repair was done. I checked the bill. Total was $1645.79. That's high, but I thought part must be expensive. Part was under $600, labor was $1000. This was a slightly over one hour job. I thought there must be mistake. I know a highly trained appliance repairman should be paid well, maybe $200/hour or even $250, but almost a $1000/hour seemed to be a mistake. The following Monday I called 1800 appliance. I spoke to the young woman answering the phone, then ended up speaking to her manager, Anthony. I explained this seemed quite high, and suggested maybe $200-300/hour seemed more than fair. Anthony explained to me that they don't bill hourly, only for a total amount for this "very complex" job. I explained that I am a physician who often operates on people's faces. I did 4 years of medical school and 5 years of residency training and still don't get that kind of rate. I explained that I think their technician should be paid very well, but the amount seemed excessive. Anthony again stated it is not an hourly rate and stood by the charge. He said he felt this was a fair amount for the job. He finally offered me a $30 discount, which I declined. I agreed to pay the entire amount. Folks, I think you should be aware of this labor charge. I feel that almost $1000/hour is excessive. Working on these appliance is not an easy job, and I firmly believe that these hard workers should be paid well. However, please ask about the labor costs prior to okaying your repair. I think it might be worth calling another company or two to compare labor costs. I don't want to see other people taken advantage of. read more

Robbie, #95 is back!!! We have had complete success and repairs with him,. I request him and he is worth the wait. He is pleasant, considerate, and very knowledgeable. We have Kitchen Aid appliances that are nearly 12 years old and he has been able to fix them all. We had another tech from this company when Robbie was unavailabe, also very nice and pleasant, but he was not able to diagnose the frozen waterfall in our ice-maker. I have had another unmentionable company come and they horribly overcharged us and were even threatening about ordering a part that was not returnable, before I consented to have it fixed. Tim was on time. Looked at the dishwasher and made some adjustment that he saw needed repair. I addition he had me look over the entire machine and made sure it worked properly BEFORE he left. He asked me to make sure that is was repaired to MY scarification before he was done. Extremely professional, no frills and explained the problem and fix to my understanding. No sales pitch other than if I'm not satisfied to call back and he will take care if the customer. Wow, great customer service and great follow through. Just don't see this to much any more. Customer service even after 3 calls said they cannot come back until Friday 10/21/16 12pm to 5pm. No manager on site at 4pm to speak with and no other techs available and Rebecca was no help what so ever. We are not happy with them at all. In the meantime the freezer is making cracking sounds like plastic is splitting and when asked if they will cover damage caused by their repair all we get is "I don't know" REALLY?!!!!! read more

Had several issues with our washer which is only 1 year and still under warranty it made a loud grinding noise and stopped agitating it also sounds like a jet when on spin cycle I called maytag since it was still under warranty they sent this company out to repair it the problem is the tech only did half the job he got the washer to work again but it still sounds like a jet when on spin cycle he told my wife to call back in 30 days and say it is making a loud noise on spin cycle, are we supposed to wait 30 days so maybe it won't be under warranty anymore or is this just so they can charge maytag another service call not a happy customer read more

Emailed Sunday about leak on dishwasher. Did not get a response Monday morning so called them and scheduled appointment on Saturday because they could not get me in at the end of the day Monday through Friday. Saturday nobody showed so I called and they said there was a mistake and they did not have me on the schedule. They said they could not get me on The schedule Saturday without a supervisor and no supervisor is available on Saturday. They could put me on The waitlist was the best they could do. I told them I will take my business elsewhere. Seems to me they do not have their act together. I do not recommend trying to use them. read more

He was on time, professional and extremely efficient - diagnosed the problem with our gas dryer right away - and the final price was completely consistent with his estimate. I must have lucked out - unlike the previous person who posted. I got an appointment the day after calling for service. The repairman was professional and did a battery of checks on my refrigerator to see why it was running so much. He reported that everything was fine - nothing wrong with it. He attributed it running constantly to the extreme heat we were experiencing in SD and the location of the refrigerator (in a small kitchen with a low ceiling that gets the afternoon sun blasing through greenhouse style windows) which happens to be the hottest place in the house. It made sense to me. What didn't make sense is that he could have very easily snowed me into believing that it need a top-up on the freon or a part needed replacing. Instead I happily paid $22.95 ($19.95 + tax) which in my books is a steal for a trouble-shooting service call. Since I had such a positive experience, I will most likely try them again. read more

I SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE USING THEM!!! USE THEM AND YOU'LL PROBABLY REGRET IT!! DETAILS ARE BELOW. I called them to repair my Whirlpool washer. They looked at it and concluded that the part was under warranty and said that their labor would be $350. At the time, I questioned whether I should just buy a new washer, because the labor was just outrageous, pariculalry in comparison to the cost of the entire new washer, but I went ahead and had them do the repair thinking that I would get a few more years out of it. Then, just a few months later, I had exactly the same problem, so I called them back to look at it. They came back out and looked at it and said that I need the EXACT SAME REPAIR DONE. ANd they gave me the same story -- the part was under warranty but labor would not be covered because they only warranty labor for 30 days. THey blamed the problem on the part that I bought from them and that THEY installed. I said that I didn't know if it was the part or it was installed incorrectly (it involves the drum bearings, so it could be either), but a $350 repair that lasts only three months should be covered. read more

Store set up an appointment for an estimate on a washing machine that would not spin. Paul, the technician, arrived 45 minutes early for the appointment ( I was ready and waiting ), he diagnosed the problem, and repaired it on the spot for much, much less than the cost of a new machine. My review is for 1-800-appliance call center, not necessarily the tech(s) they contract with. "1-800Appliance" was called 7-24-14 to repair our refrigerator. They quickly sold us a warranty and after stupidly purchasing it, gave us a five day wait for an appointment. On the fifth day with no refrigeration, they arrived an hour or two after the set time and of course, that day, the refrigerator worked for some reason. The tech said he could not fix it as it was working. The repair man said he would come back and "fit us in" if it acted up again. The refrigerator, on Aug 14th, once again, was not working. We called to see if they could fit us in. They couldn't come out for almost a month. A month! September 8th. On the first occurrence we waited 5 days, and lost a refrigerator full of food. I explained to the service rep at 1-800Appliance/Maytag that an additional four week wait was not acceptable, that we needed a more responsive reply, and asked for a supervisor. I was told she WAS the floor supervisor, and that there was no alternative to the near month wait. It is our strong belief that this level of service is unacceptable and not worth $359.00 warranty plus service call costs! If a company is issuing a warranty, it needs to provide the service in a timely manner, especially in the case of refrigeration, as food spoils. If this was a range or microwave etc., one might see that it could be worked around and accommodated. The service provider in this case is taking our money and providing no service. If the subcontractor is too busy to handle the workload, they need to provide additional service for the area. I don't want their poor service. I will go elsewhere for help. I have had warranties in the past and they come out immediately. This is a sad outfit with whom we do not want to do business. read more

We have a microwave and oven combo and our keyboard starting beeping in the middle of the night and would not stop! We called 1 800 Appliance and Robbie, Tech #95 knew exactly what it was after looking at it and ordered a new keyboard for us. The part came in a couple days later and Robbie was back to install it for us. Robbie provides great service, knowledge and is reliable...shows up when he says he will. Had a dishonest tech come out to my place to diagnose a problem with a dishwasher. My dishwasher stopped working one day and it seemed like it had no power. So the Landlord arranged to have a tech come out to my place to diagnose the problem. My first impression of the tech was he seemed like he didnt want to really look into it. He removed the front access panel and supposedly began to check for power. A few minutes later he told me there were 2 problems. The pump was leaking and causing the laminate flooring to bubble up. Second he said there was a problem with the power at the electrical plug box. He wrote up his repair order and charged my landlord the service call. After deciding to replace the dishwasher, I discovered the tech did not speak a word of truth. There was no signs of a leak and the pump had no leaks upon my inspection. I was removing the old unit to prepare for the new unit. 2nd the power supply box was fine. I plugged in a iron and what do you know, the iron's light lit up. After this experience I can never recommend this company. The tech just wanted to get his service call fee paid. The tech's name I believe was Robert #27. read more

Tim Tech #50 was great. I was given an arrival window of 8-12pm the day before. First thing in the morning, Tim texted arriving 10-12 and shortly afterwards texted an 1130 arrival and came right on time. When he arrived, he went right to work on my ancient washing machine using the old "yellowed" schematic taped to the back and used good old fashioned "old school" trouble shooting techniques. After 30 mins or so, he identified the issue, a blown fuse. He did not charge for the fuse and charged the least amount possible for labor. These guys always amaze me. I have used them for over 10 years for 3 different appliances and have always had the same experience. Quick, cheap effective repair with technicians who always arrive on time. I have 1-800-Appliance on my "speed dial". Can't say enough good things about this organization. I am mystified by the "one star" reviews I see. read more

I called 1-800 appliance on a Tuesday afternoon. They gave me a next day appt. between 2:00-4:00. Since I really needed my appliance fixed I cancelled my sons private gym class lesson (that was paid for in advance and can not get a refund) At 3:50 I called the 1-800 number to confirm that the tech would be coming in the next 10 minutes. The representative told me that the tech did not get the service call but he was going to leave where he was in 15 min and would go to my house. An HOUR AND A HALF later when no tech showed up and nobody had called me I called the 1-800 number AGAIN and I was told that he was on his way. 1 hour later I got a call saying that the tech had truck problems and would not be coming. I asked to speak to a supervisor. They said that Antonio, the supervisor, was gone but he would call me FIRST thing in the morning. It is now, 3:00pm and no call. This is horrible horrible customer service. I waited 4HOURS for a tech to show up. I would not be so upset if someone would of called me and said that their was an error and the tech would not be showing up today. I understand that their are mistakes but NOBODY CALLED. The customer service reps who answer the phone are not very sympathetic and sound like they could care less if a tech shows up after waiting 4 hours or not. What is really funny is on their website it says "Our Golden Rule is CUSTOMER IS KING" Dont believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bad customer service. Call another company. This is a review for Robbie, Technician #95. We had an issue with our fridge, covered under warranty. Was surprised to see they even do weekend appointments. He arrived promptly in the allotted time and was very friendly. He had to come by a second time to replace a part after diagnosing the problem, and I was surprised he still remembered us so well even though it had been a few weeks. He was able to fix the issue in no time, and was just super friendly during the entire visit. read more
