When my dad died he left an office space behind and I was completely at a loss of what to do. I called 1800 Junk to inquire about emptying the contents of my dad's office space. The consultation was great as they were so understanding of my situation and gave me options. I hired them right away. They were even flexible when I had to re-schedule last minute. On the day of the move the team showed up on time, were so nice and worked so fast. In about 3 hours a 1200 sqft office full of furniture and years worth of junk was completely empty. The whole process was super easy. Simple to make or change your pickup date. The pickup team was so accommodating and was able to call with an estimate so I could leave for work. Henny (on the pickup team) was amazing in terms of communicating their arrival time and the logistics and made it a lot less stressful. From booking, arrival and execution - 800-GOT-JUNK did the job fast and correct. Had to clear out the unwanted belongings from my sellers apartment days before the closing on the 6th floor of a walk-up building - the pros at 800-GOT-JUNK were up for the task. Two queen sized mattresses w/boxsprings, an XL sofa, dishes, glassware and kitchen items, and two large sized mirrors down six flights of stairs!!! This was no easy feat but the team of Carlos V and Glen tackled the job with grace and resourcefulness. At the end of two hours, the items in the apartment filled up the entire truck!! The people from both of these services turned out to be pretty flaky. I wanted to get money for my furniture, or at the very least, not to have to pay to get it removed. However, after playing phone tag with the free junkmanremoval.com service for a few days, I decided that it just wasn't worth the hassle. I called 1-800-GOTJUNK at 4:30 PM and was able to make a 5:00 PM appointment. They actually showed up 10 minutes early, and they were very friendly, professional, and efficient. I believe that the price is well worth the convenience and reliability of the service. It is such a relief to have that furniture out of my apartment - I was sick of looking at it! read more

So my review is twofold, if I could give two ratings I would, one for the workers who were aces and one for the Company who I thought did not treat their employees well in that they are not given supplies to do the job. I used 1800-GOT-JUNK for a big job, when I was looking for a junk removal company I warned all companies I reached out to it would be a big job, it was cleaning out a small portion of a basement and a garage that was packed with stuff, a hoarders dream... papers, fabric, tools, plates and assorted junk (some big). Two guys came on the truck that was partially full (this made it difficult to come up with the 'truck load', we had different views as to how full that truck was when it arrived), the workers are not given the proper tools to clean such as containers to carry junk (a wheel barrel would had been helpful), brooms, bags, maybe a rake... the guys that came made due with whatever they could find in the space they were cleaning. If there was an empty container they would fill it up and use that to dump junk again and again. These guys worked their butts off and I tipped them well as they put in MANY hours at the property (they also had to leave and come back b/c the truck was partially full when they arrived). I'd also like to point out the workers should be given masks for all the dust that's kicked up when cleaning spaces that are not ventilated and dusty, they didn't have masks. I'm leaving this review off reading how the CEO takes 2 months off and never works weekends which is great for him but when I recall how hard these guys worked in terrible heat with no tools, no masks I felt compelled to leave this review (I hope his employees are compensated well to make up for the lack of supplies which causes them extra work). I give the workers 5 stars... the company 2. Also, in all fairness, I'm leaving this review off a job that was done in late 2017, for all I know things may have changed for workers in the Bronx, perhaps the Company will respond off this to advise/confirm. I'm a small business owner in Manhattan. While I'm not sure about the being the cheapest, maybe getting what you pay for is true with junk removal too. Extremely fast, I was surprised when they said they'd be out in 30 minutes - not the next day, not the next week, not totally booked for three months (common NYC issues) - but 30 minutes. I was more surprised when they arrived on time. I had a issue which required me to leave the location of the junk but they were very honest and professional with taking my payment over the phone and giving me an expensive, yet fair price. (Keep in mind in Manhattan there are some fines that cost more than a simple call to 800 got junk! ) What pushed me to write the review is I ran into a got junk employee in the building a few weeks later while they were cleaning out an apartment. I asked if he was the one who had gone to my business on the ground floor and he was. He took time to pause his work and ask me if I had been satisfied with their job, and told me they always are fast and can be called 7days a week. I was in an emergency situation where the removal company I had contacted was no longer reachable on the day of my move, and I had a very small window of time to vacate my studio. Called 1800-Junk and was very happy and relieved at how easy it was to schedule a same day removal. I had provided an accurate list of what needed to be removed from my small studio and a rough estimate was given to me. The actual move went smoothly and I really appreciated how hardworking and efficient they were. That aside, unfortunately I am extremely upset at how the estimate I was given over the phone had more than doubled upon their arrival. There was no way my "junk" from a small studio would fill more than half a truck and yet I was charged for almost a full load. If I hadn't been in such time constraints I would not have accepted the service but at that point I had no choice. Based on the inconsistent and inaccurate estimations alone I'm afraid I can't use this company again and would not recommend. read more

We've used Got Junk a number of times in NJ. Both Northern NJ and Southern NJ. Awesome service. This Got Junk Manhattan has been dismal 2 out of 3 times. The first time, the two guys actually dragged the furniture down the stairs of my 1870's brownstone stoop, leaving scratches and paint chips. One guy kept pulling out his cellphone while on the sidewalk between trips into the house. I wish I had taken a photo of the half empty truck because they charged me for a full truck. Because they didn't move the items around the truck, it ended up being half empty and I had to schedule a pick up the next week. We informed the dispatch of our less than stellar crew when they called to confirm our 8:30am -10 am. We reiterated that we had a full truckload and would need an empty truck. At 9:50 am we called the main 800 number to make sure the truck would be empty so we could finish the job. The driver called during that conversation and told us that he was at another job and would not be either empty nor before 1pm. Very disappointed and decided to use a different company. read more

I had a deep freezer that needed to go so when I priced them it was supposed to be under $250,which was the cheapest I could find a removal for. So help me to understand why it turned out to be $375, and the two guys they sent tried to get me to pay cash as it would be cheaper for me. I just wanted the freezer out so what was I going to do? I'm happy my husband was home bc they made me feel creeper out. I'd say if you have a lot of things needing to be removed then maybe they're good for that, otherwise find another way. read more

They left a file cabinet on the street and not because the truck was full but because they wanted to jack up the price almost 100% after they started the job. After seeing numerous 5-star reviews, it feels awkward to post negative comments but my experience with 1-800-Got-Junk was not a postive one. I called their 800# for a quote- provided the customer service person (who was polite and professional) precise details regarding the items I wanted to remove and received a quote over the phone. Though I deemed the price to be slightly high for the number of items I wanted to dispose of, the convenience outweighed my cost concerns. While on the phone, the csr repeated my details; my location & exactly what I wanted to remove. Before hanging up, I asked if there was any possibility the price would change when they arrived and was assured that, unless I added more items, the quoted price was going to be the price. Well...you guessed it. The two fellows arrived and stated they could not do the job the for the price I was quoted even though the details of my job had not changed. They proposed a substantially higher rate and wouldn't even grant the AAA discount I had been promised. I did not accept and they left empty-handed. My advice: make sure 1-800-Got-Junk provides a detailed, written, quote immediately after the initial conversation. read more

Working with this company was the WORST part of a recent move. What I initially was told would take ~2 hours to complete ended up taking over 5 days, and cost me over 3x what I was initially quoted at the first visit. The issues started on day 1 when the truck showed up over 2h after the appointment time (and long past the end of my elevator reservation), and only snowballed from there. I found it extremely hard to get anyone on the phone who could communicate actual helpful information (what time the truck could be expected to show up the following day, when a follow up COI the building required would actually be sent to me, etc.) and I was only able to get the information after multiple phone calls. I still am scarred from how awful this experience was, and would certainly NOT recommend. read more

I reserved the time frame 1:30-3:30 pm weeks ago but got a call on 1:30 by one of the guys saying that they got slapped in another job before mine and would probably come much later. I tried to be considerate and agreed but guess what- they finally arrived just before 5. I can't complain about the guys because they're actually very efficient, very helpful, and I understand that their job is not easy, but wtf is wrong with the manager? Also, it's WAYYY overpriced. I bought a Leesa mattress and ended up not liking it. Got Junk is the company Leesa uses to pick up returned mattress. The scheduled pick up time was between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday and I was told Got Junk would call before they arrived to let me know they were on their way. They had not called by 3:30 p.m. so I checked in with Leesa who told me I had to wait until 4:00 p.m. before they could do anything. 4:00 p.m. came and went and Got Junk had not shown up. They finally called me at 4:30 p.m. (after Leesa called them) to tell me they were running late and would be there in 30 to 40 minutes. 40 minutes later, still no Got Junk. I called Got Junk directly and spoke to Victor who told me their prior pick up was larger than they anticipated (not my problem) but that they were on their way to my apartment. Aside on Victor - he was incredibly rude and told me that I had no remedy because I was not their customer, Leesa was. Got Junk finally showed up at 6:00 p.m. - two hours after the scheduled window. I will say the two gentlemen who picked up my mattress were very nice and efficient. However, after this experience, I would never use this company. read more

I'm hesitant to write a negative review on this company because they do do (lol) a reputable service for people...but my experience was not a great one. They were supposed to come and between 10:30-12:30 to pick up 1 large piece of furniture and 1 small piece of furniture. The driver called at 9:30 stating that they were at a big job and that they'd get to me towards the end of my time frame. No problem I thought. 12:23 comes and I get a call from the driver and he says that the job is taking longer than expected and they're going to be late and they should be at my place by 1:45pm. No problem - I understand unexpected things happen and jobs can run late. 1:45pm - no one is buzzing. No call. 2:00pm, no call. 2:20pm - got a call saying that their truck is full and they need to dump the truck at their location and will be at my place by 3:00pm. I said 3:00pm? Really? He apologized BUT THEN SAID that they had to get a new truck because according to my paperwork I wanted my items donated (which requires a new truck??) so now it's my fault they're late?? I said I would like the stuff donated but it doesn't have to be. He said ok and then said they're going to be on their way. 3:00 pm hits, no buzz, no call. 3:30 pm hits - I get a call and then a buzz! They're here! They come in, apologize again and look at the stuff I'm wanting to donate to quote me a price. Instead of quoting me the minimum price because of how late they were and the fact that I only have 2 items - they quote me the $258 price, which is above the minimum. I was like...uhhhhhhh ok..... And the driver must have realized that I was really NOT OK with that and quickly said, well, we can charge u the minimum plus a 5% discount since we're 3 hours late. I said, yes, thank u. My hopes of my items being donated were dashed when the one guy picked up my larger piece of furniture and said "this is so fricking heavy" and then I heard it being dragged down the stairs, cracking and crunching on each step. I closed the door cause I didn't want to hear the noise. Maybe they can recycle it? Oy vey. Overall, the experience wasn't a great one. I don't think I'd recommend them. read more
