I came here today with a few girl friends and a delicious spicy chai latte and almond croissant. I actually stopped by the one in Santa Clara and found another one in Mountain View, and decided to try it out. The space isn't too big and I got lucky with securing the table in the middle to sit at. Prob not a good place to come with a group or to do intense focus work. It looked like only one seat had a nearby outlet. The almond croissant was beautifully brought out on a wooden tray, and tasted pretty fresh. The chai has a really powerful flavor, and made the sips of the honey latte and matcha bland in comparison. Staff was friendly and noise level was also pretty low. I go to 1oz almost every time I am in the area. Love their food options ( usually go for croissants) and coffee is exceptional! My go to is iced Americano with extra shot and it is always done perfectly. Highly recommended read more

Coffee is good here my only concern is the customer service. I've been here a few times...a first time here the cashier didn't ask what kind of milk I wanted on my coffee. I then told him I wanted Oat-milk since he didn't ask and he told me very rudely that there is a charge for it. I told him I knew this and I still wanted oat milk. Second time, the barista didn't even acknowledge I was there and she was just chatting with her coworker, when she saw me she didn't even greet me, she just took my order. Third time there once again the baristas we're talking but this time they were talking badly about another customer. She didn't even say hi or greeted me just took my order as fast as she could. She was so distracted she took my order wrong. I asked for an oat milk latte and gave me a regular milk latte. I am lactose intolerant so I threw the coffee away and took off. read more

Good grab-and-go cafe featuring beans from rotating guest roasters (seems to rotate every month). The pour overs and espresso are both really good, and the quality is always consistent. The seating is limited, but they have set up chairs and tables outside during covid. read more

Pro tip: they sell coffee in sizes larger than 1 oz. The consumables: The coffee is very good, from the macchiato to their cappuccino, to the pour overs, all very good, roasted and brewed very well. The atmosphere: It's a very small coffee shop, even pre-covid, the place could only seat a few tables. Most of the seating is outside, and set up proper distances apart from each other. The coffee is served in pretty dishware for "here" orders, and for to-go orders, it's a standard paper-cup-with-plastic-lid, and even if you get a to-go macchiato, it comes with it's own cute tiny lid so it doesn't dump the entire 1oz of coffee all over your car with a hard stop! They're all properly set up for socially-distanced ordering too, you order from really far away, and contactless payment is set up. read more

One of my Favorite coffee places to get coffee and do some work. Kind and helpful staff

I came to 1 oz as I frequently come in the direction of Castro to relax. The barista was very chill, and there were people in the area making socially distanced conversation. Tables and chairs were scattered there, with people working outside on their computers or some simply chatting. AFFOGATO, PISTACHIO (8/10). I got the pistachio-flavored affogato, which we were given the option between that and vanilla bean -- immediately after getting it, we thought that vanilla would have been a better choice. While the pistachio crunch inside the ice cream was a good change of texture, the taste of pistachio wasn't quite present enough with the espresso shot, and the entire taste was mainly the espresso and perhaps a slight dash of cream. That being said, it was my first time having an affogato, and while we didn't get any drinks heavy on their coffee, their espresso itself was already enough to impress. UBE LATTE (7/10). I admit, I might have just gotten this purely because of how cute it looked online, but this drink did not disappoint. I'm already a huge fan of... purple drinks, and with the touch of lavender on top of the purple ube, upon seeing the drink, my taste buds were already ready. I must say though, I felt like the taste reminded me of something that I might get at a boba shop -- a milk tea, perhaps? It's interesting how this drink felt like rather than a latte, it felt like flavored milk, which I'm not opposed to in the slightest, but it wasn't something I expected to get from a coffee shop. I suppose it could be put into the same category as a Matcha Latte, which exists in both coffee and boba shops. In the end, I must say I got a bit bored of the taste. While I don't get many ube-flavored things, I felt like the ube flavor itself wasn't enough to keep me interested as I sipped it. I don't normally feel like I need to gulp a drink, but I felt like I did for this one, simply because there wasn't enough flavor. BARISTA SPECIAL -- MATCHA TONIC (7/10). I wouldn't say that in general I'm a fan of tonic drinks, whether it be expresso tonic drinks, or in this case, matcha tonic. I definitely felt like the other drinks had more variety, and while the matcha tonic was a refreshing drink, I felt as though the other drinks had more to offer. Despite my bias against tonic drinks, the matcha flavor was strong and bold, just how I like my matcha drinks, so I would recommend if you're looking for some good matcha. I can't provide a review for the iced latte, as I didn't personally order it. In the end, while there were no outlets, I wouldn't' be opposed to working in this area as it's slightly off the busier side of Castro, and around 3pm, a very slight ambience and few people crossing around the area. I wouldn't say their drinks blew my mind, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying more. read more

After reading about their second store opening on Castro Street and the reviews and buzz about their coffee I had to give it a try. It is in the storefront just left of the main lobby on 650 Castro Street Suite 130. The interior has tables and chairs and still appears to be a bit too minimalist or Spartan for me. On the wall hang a homemade sign listing their offerings and prices. Being a cold rainy day I thought Mocha for me and my former coworker would warm us up. The barista was very engaging as I described all the steps the barista was conducting to produce a single shot of espresso for each drink as my friend dutifully converted the pressure to ~130 PSI on his iPhone! The Mocha featured homemade marshmallows which was a pleasant surprise. The barista even threw out the one that fell off the saucer which was nice. He poured their signature design that appears on the large community type table. We sat on cushions near the window and enjoyed our Mocha and marshmallows! The napkins and other coffee service items were sort of hidden in the corner in front of the espresso machine. We both warmed up with our Mocha and when we were finished bused our nice blue empty cups and saucers back to the barista station. It was then we noticed the owner Yulia Kolchanova chatting with the barista. On our way out I noticed the Cold Brew drip coffee brewer that apparently had just been installed as it did not have any coffee dripping through it yet. Am sure this will expand their menu for the spring and summer days! read more

Cute coffee on Castro. I recommend the cappuccino or Gibraltar (double espresso and steamed milk) with options for pastries from Midwife and the Baker. Limited seating outside and friendly baristas. It can get slow at times as these guys are coffee artisans. It's certainly worth the wait! read more

Silicon Valley has been one of the biggest "real espresso" urban deserts I've ever been in. Outside of Chromatic Coffee in Santa Clara/San Jose and Blue Bottle in Palo Alto, the choices are decidedly lackluster. Believe me, I've literally visited almost every option between Burlingame and Santa Clara. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I've been dying for a real temple to coffee to open outside of SF. 1oz may be the first I've seen to fit the bill. Had a stunning cappuccino, and my girlfriend had a great oat milk latte. Give them your love so they can continue to serve up real espresso. read more

It's a small coffee shop in downtown Mountain View with dedicated baristas. Their espressos have plenty of crema leading to a perfect mouth feel. They get special brownie points for making Gibraltars and having oat milk, the tastiest alternative milk with the consistency and taste of milk after soaking cereal in it. I also love that they offer free pecans and dried apricots to go with their coffee. My only piece of feedback is the accoustics. The coffee shop has a weird muffled echo, making it hard to hear. I suspect it's due to the abundance of hard flat surfaces and potentially the ceiling. Some discrete, fabric sound panels might greatly improve the accoustics. read more

if you're into cafe hopping and really good drinks please come here!! this is my favorite spot so far, i haven't tried all their drinks but so far everything i have tried is really good!! the staff is super nice as well. not to mention, their toasts are actually so good i would personally recommend their ricotta strawberry toast or avocado toast :) it's a small cafe but if you come in on a weekday it tends to be empty so you can grab yourself a table to study, read, or just do whatever you would like. i love the blue aesthetic to the cafe and the cute prints they have on the wall, not to mention, the ceramic cups are blue and as a cafe girl i appreciate them. love this place!! the ambiance is always great and they have good music too (shoutout to the aux person). they also have some outside seats as well if you prefer to sit outside. read more

In a sea of lackluster coffee shops, in the great and hallowed intellectual stomping ground of the world, Mountain View, yes 1 oz is very good. In any other universe, with literally any other competition that isn't Starbucks or a kitschy pretty cafe made for instagram and tourists, it's alright. Only bad thing about trying to enjoy a lazy weekend morning by visiting your local coffee shop is that everyone has the same idea as you do lol. So when we came to 1 Oz, the line was out the door, couldn't even fit everyone into the shop so we had to stand outside for a couple of mins before we could even get in. But after reaching the front, the gentleman at the register was super apologetic for the long wait (nice that he acknowledged it but obviously had no control over it), and then happily helped us by explaining their different types of pastry options. I wanted the matcha croissant, but they were unfortunately out and had to settle for their baklava croissant, though which he explained was actually one of their more popular pastries (they also carry Third Culture bakery mochi donuts for those interested!) For coffee, I was feelin something sweet so I went with their cinnamon honey latte. Presentation wise, coffee and pastries are served on an attractive wooden boards. And the coffee turned out to be really good! They brew Vertigo Coffee Roasters from San Juan Bautista, which roasts some quality beans. Latte tasted like a chai latte, but with coffee, honey added a nice touch, not overly sweet. Baklava croissant was also actually really good too, filling had a sweet, walnuty taste, glad I ended up getting it! I visit Mountain View here and there and once I saw a new coffee spot pop up, I had to go and try it. Going in, it was very mellow and not that many people were there. Also had a very minimalist look to it, but I really liked it and the art on the walls was great. The barista was super welcoming and helped me through with what drink to get. I wasn't feeling an espresso based drink because I had coffee earlier so I went with the matcha latte. The Matcha latte was amazing, it was a rich green color, the latte art was beautiful, and the matcha didn't taste processed at all. Usually I haven't had a matcha latte I really love but 1 Oz has changed that for me. Overall I really liked this place and their drinks. I'll be back for more and this time to try an espresso based drink. read more
