Brunch ruined by power trip hostess. I now understand the 1,2,3 star reviews here. This hostess/waitress was incredibly condescending to others in line. There was a long line with the place 1/4 full, she simply walked away from podium, went inside to laugh n gossip while customers continued waiting. When she did address customers, her attitude was quite rude n dismissive. Why such unnecessary hostility from someone who seats guests? I used to love this place. It's gone way downhill. Server got our order wrong because she didn't want to write it down. No one brought us water so I got it myself. No juices (and they've never had them) even though they're on the menu. Food came out randomly. Our 5 year old got his order last even though we asked that it come out first. When we added a hot chocolate with the server, nothing came out after 15 minutes. So I walked in. There were 5 staff behind the counter. 3 were on their smartphones. 2 were joking with each other. When I finally got one of their attention, I asked about the drink. They said it would come out. Kiddo needed to go to the bathroom. Floorboards were rotten and torn on the walk over. Grimy, gross sink with that film on the door that you see in dive bars. We wait 10 minutes. Still no drink. I go back in with the boy and stand over the the barista so that they'd hand us a hot chocolate. Food was good, but with service and ambience like that, might as well go to a Starbucks. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences we've had. We had elderly family members and young kids with us, people who shouldn't have to sit through an hour of chaos just to get a meal, and Bluestone ruined our entire day. It took 10 minutes just to get someone's attention to be seated. Then another 15 minutes passed before anyone bothered to take our order. We ordered four dishes. Only two showed up. Forty minutes later, when we finally asked where the rest of our food was, the staff acted surprised. They'd never put in the order for the other two dishes. No urgency, no apology, just a shrug and a blank stare. Then one of the two dishes that did arrive was the wrong order. By now we'd completely lost our appetite, so we asked to cancel the last dish that still hadn't come. Ten minutes later, it showed up anyway. When we told the server we no longer wanted it, he didn't even register a reaction. No concern, no apology, nothing. That's the part that stuck with us most: at no point did anyone acknowledge that anything had gone wrong. Not a single "I'm sorry," not one attempt to fix it. Just total indifference while our family sat there hungry and frustrated for over an hour. Food: I ordered the breakfast bowl sans feta and with spiced chicken and dressing on the side as I like to have less dressing with my salads. The food here is very good. Our party was for 6 people and it was our second visit. I loved my avocado toast. It was customized with my favorite cheese. The bread was so fresh and healthy with a brown crust. I also ordered a Hibiscus Ice tea that was refreshing. The 3 stars is that the coffees were just meh. The mocha had good quality chocolate, not to bitter nor too sweet, though i couldn't taste an espresso or coffee. it was like high end hot chocolate. The flat white was ok. it also was the last item to come out when we ordered, which is a little surprising as typically most places bring the drinks out right away. the side of bacon was disappointing and not worth getting. service is friendly though they are busy and they had one server for a fairly large area to cover. My wife really enjoyed her pumpkin spice latte, and the espresso itself was smooth and well balanced, so the coffee and overall vibe were definitely the highlight of the visit. The BL Burrito looked appealing at first, but most of the filling was actually potato wedges, so it felt lighter on the other ingredients than I expected. The Smoked Chicken & Greens Salad had chicken with a soft, pre-cooked or canned texture rather than a freshly grilled feel. The potato wedges had good seasoning, though they seemed like they had been sitting warm for a while. The side pancakes were fluffy but not very warm and the flavor was pretty mild. We visited on a Saturday morning and noticed plenty of open tables both inside and outside. Since we had a toddler with us, we asked for an outdoor table, but were told those were reserved. When we then requested a booth indoors, that too was denied for the same reason. Strangely, during the 45m-1hr we were there, none of those "reserved" tables were ever occupied--they remained empty the entire time. To add to the frustration, another family who arrived after us was seated outdoors without issue. The experience felt disheartening and, frankly, discriminatory. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Blue Lavender Matcha Cloud! I loved how the pancakes were presented. They came on a compact wooden board, with the syrup served on the side and the pancakes placed in a small iron skillet. The pancakes were very fluffy and soft! It was topped with berries, a tasty ricotta and lemon glaze mix and I covered it with syrup. The pancakes were a little small but actually filled me up fast. I also ordered the Blue Lavender Matcha Cloud but I couldn't really taste the Lavender and Matcha as much. We added on our names to the waitlist but waited about 45 minutes for a text back but never got one until we checked back in and they realized they forgot about us.
