I was thrilled when I found out that a Thai restaurant opened in Shawnee. though the level of service was exceptional, I found the food disappointing. The curry (we tried the red, green, and paneer), while bold, and flavorful, was way too sweet (on par with your typical serving of sweet iced tea before ice is added). The pad Thai might have been good if it weren't for way too much fish sauce (levels that made it smell and taste rancid). Two of us took one bite, and threw the rest in the trash. The chicken satay and peanut sauce was tasty, but the chicken was not trimmed, and one of my family members bit into something hard like a tendon, or cartilage. The drinks were way too small for the price. I could understand this with specialty teas, but my son ordered a simple unsweetened tea which came out in a small Styrofoam cup. Overall, I would say the food was about a 2/5, but the service was exceptional. The young people working the front of the house were very polite, and helpful. I would have bumped the stars up for service, but when i order carryout, it's all about the food. I really don't understand the five star reviews, and why they were posted before the restaurant actually opened. Maybe there was a special soft launch for friends and family who are much more inclined to want to see them succeed? Maybe they were on their "A game" at that time? Maybe I just came at a bad time? WE LOVE SAYA THAI! We moved to the area almost two years ago and haven't been able to find a good Thai food restaurant since moving here. Since we've found Saya we can't stay away. They have a system that keeps your orders so you don't even have to say what you need if your like us and want the same thing each time! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was tidy and welcoming. My son and I have been to Thailand and love when we come across a Thai food establishment. We were excited to find this place. However, the curries that my son and I ordered were overly sweet and lacked any flavor that a true Thai curry possesses.I included a pic of my green curry that I ordered. I went in for the soft opening and had red curry with vegetables and tofu. It was rich, creamy and flavorful. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. In town with kids and grandkids and we ordered for 4 adults and 3 little ones. Fried spring rolls, steamed gyoza, chicken satay, papaya salad, ginger chicken stir fry, combo pad Thai, chicken massaman curry, chicken shrimp Penang curry, Saya pork fried rice. All ordered at a 1 except the pad Thai and parang curry at a 2. The papaya salad should have been chilled and was warm. Ordered at a 1 it was blisteringly hot. One of my wife's favorite dishes and it was a disappointment. Also the shrimp unit were undercooked and not cleaned. Pictures from other customers showed cleaned shrimp. That's laziness in the kitchen. Chicken satay was good for the kids; peanut sauce was a paste not saucy. Spring rolls fried were small but good. The steamed gyoza were flavorful but gummy. Pad Thai was very good but mild though ordered as a 2. Massaman curry was excellent and mild as ordered. Parang curry was excellent except it's 2 level was more like a 4. Blisteringly hot, and it had those same I cleaned shrimp. . Ginger stir fry was ok but lacked any evidence of ginger. Pork fried rice was good. This should be an excellent Thai place but needs to get consistent in the kitchen, especially on hot scale and preparing shrimp. read more

Food is always in big portions, so it's nice to come here knowing you can have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! The service is fairly quick, although the main server's English can be hard to understand if you aren't expecting it. The restaurant is nice and looks like it was renovated recently. I had the Pad See Ew. My sister ordered the Red Curry. Both were delicious. If it has a pepper beside it on the menu & you are heat sensitive, beware. I was fine with the heat level in the Red Curry, but it was way too hot for my sister. I have had Thai food at several restaurants & this Thai was very tasty to me. I was stoked to see Thai food in Shawnee! I love their ginger stir fry with chicken or tofu! I've also had their garlic stir fry and the pad Thai with chicken and tofu. They prepare their tofu a little different than what I'm used to but I still enjoy it. It's also refreshing to go in n grab a Thai tea to go. Service has always been a tad on the slower side, aka if you're on lunch break... call ahead n order it to go. I do wish that parking lot was better it's a nightmare. I have mixed feelings about this place. I LOVE authentic Thai food. This food is tasty and flavorful, but I would not give it the title of "authentic." If you're looking for tasty Thai-style food, it's a good option, but don't expect to be transported to Thailand through this food experience. The waiters are always super nice and provide great customer service. I commend them because they have to deal with a lot... the last time I was there, they ran out of cash AND the computers were down and cards didn't work, so the people working used their own money to give me my change. They definitely didn't have to be that obliging for something that was not their fault. Overall I'm satisfied as long as I know what to expect.... also, the Massaman curry is super tasty. If you order to go, you get almost twice as much curry (I can't speak to the quantity of other non-curry items). For a ~$10 entree, I appreciate getting enough to last me 2 meals. read more

I love Thai food and will definitely visit Saya again but wanted to share my experience. First, the staff definitely gets 5+ stars--they are welcoming and very friendly. I ordered the green curry and papaya salad to go. The green curry was not green in color, more of a milky white, and it was really sweet. It was good, but green currys I've had elsewhere are not sweet. The papaya salad was good but it had 3 pieces of shrimp in it (which I did not order and which were not included on the menu as part of the ingredients). Placed a carry out order and it costed more than expected. An employee informed us that they were charging an additional 18% gratuity on all carry orders to cover their Covid costs. Annoyed, we drove home with our food only to find that every meal we ordered...and 3 appetizers were all wrong. We ended up spending $60 for 3 orders of plain soggy fried rice and 3 orders of some kind of dumpling. Unbelievable. Shame on them...will never eat there again. read more

My mom ordered it online; my dad and I got chicken Pad Thai and my mom got chicken fried rice. At first I disliked Pad Thai, but I quickly started to like it. I was so excited to see a Thai restaurant open in Shawnee where most restaurant options are fast food or "American comfort food". I was not disappointed. Got an appetizer of fried Gyoza and for our entrees we got the Red Curry and Pad See-Eew. All of it was very fresh and delicious. I was hoping this would be an actual good dining experience..actually, it's more like a fast food place. We were the only customers in there and getting our food was still fairly slow. The Pad Thai was a lot of noodles..very few veggies or spices..I ordered mine with seafood, beef and chicken..there were two little shrimp..a couple of small pieces of thinly sliced beef and almost unidentifiable few small pieces of chicken..the whole plate of food was very dry..I would have preferred a lot less noodles, more sauce, shrimp, chicken and beef ....I wish this restaurant good luck..the wait staff was friendly and answered questions but there was zero atmosphere no cocktail service..overall, a big disappointment! read more

Loved the pad Thai here. I've eaten several places in Okc area and this one was one of the most flavorful I've eaten. Spicy level 2 was more like a 3 or 4. But still delicious. The chicken was tender and the service was great! Portions are huge; enough for 2-3 meals. Kids portions are generous as well. I had a Wednesday lunch special for $7.75 and I upgraded from the Jasmine rice to the fried rice. I chose to start with 2 spring rolls then picked Massaman Chicken Curry. I also chose the Garlic -Beef stir fry. I had a coke to drink. Everything was great although I do wish the chicken curry was piping hot in temperature instead of real warm but that is just a personal preference for me. The flavor was outstanding and the service was superb. I will be bringing back my son with me next time. I am so glad we have a Thai restaurant in Shawnee.
