The service was great, especially handling our large and loud crew. The calamari was super tasty and not rubbery. The baked clams had great flavor. The garlic butter was a little too garlicky for me but others really enjoyed it. The au gratin potatoes were super cheesy and my favorite. The steak was properly seasoned. I LOVED the strawberry blonde martini...I'm not a heavy drinker but this was the right amount of sweetness and alcohol.

This place was a pleasure. Little crazy but you get what you pay for sometimes absolutely delicious.. The cavatelli was homemade. Could have been cooked a little bit longer so if you order it just make sure you ask them.. But you can tell that the pasta was made that day as opposed to most restaurants that have it sit in cold water... I will be going back

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner on a Friday. There was plenty of seating available. Perhaps because it was early, but the ambiance was very quiet and felt like almost awkward being there until someone put on some Christmas music. The service was great. Our waiter was timely and attentive. We had the Caesar salad, chili calamari and cavatelli. Everything was perfectly prepared. The complimentary bread service with garlic butter was also delicious.

Stopped here during the Rock the Block event. There was no wait and we had a choice of sitting inside or outside. The good- the espresso martini was outstanding! Our server Alexander was absolutely wonderful! He was attentive, friendly and got our order right! The bad- my pasta was under cooked. The shrimp I had was good but the plate they served it on was watery due to the ice melting. Not sure where it was sitting that the ice melted before it was served.

This is a very nice restaurant in downtown Elmhurst. When you walk in, you meet with the hostess, to the right of the hostess is a bar and has high tables, to the left is more of a nice casual seating at short standard tables. Our waiter was awesome! Very attentive, always made sure our wine glasses were topped off and was just a very nice waiter. We ordered the Dickie's Salad, which had Mixed greens with bacon, bleu cheese, red onion and a creamy Italian dressing. It was a nice portion. There was three of us and we shared it. There was enough for four people. This salad was delicious! Had a great dressing that elevated the whole salad with trimmings. We then ordered the Portabella Soup. Holy moly I was thinking of committing a robbery and run out with the whole pot of soup. It was soooo good! I love mushrooms and this soup was excellent! Then I ordered the Beef Wellington. I never had a beef Wellington and always wanted to try one after watching Gordon Ramsey and his signature Beef Wellington. So being my first time trying a beef Wellington I was impressed! The filet lignin inside the pastry was beautifully cooked! Medium, tender and absolutely delicious! The pastry was so delicate and so good. I loved it! Overall loved everything here. The service, the waiter, and the food absolutely great!

First time having dinner there and sat down in the bar. The service was fantastic and well attended to. I started with an octopus salad that was phenomenal and followed it up with a Delmonico ribeye done medium rare. I could cut it with my fork. Finished dinner with a cappuccino. Can't wait to come back

More importantly, does it offer the kind of service, ambience, and experience that would make you want more? I would say 151 kitchen and bar in Elmhurst does meet those expectations. On a recent work night celebration with colleagues, we ended up here for a nice dinner. Beautifully outfitted, the service was spot on, and the food was for the most part really good. Key points for me for the honey and ricotta with bread - absolutely excellent! I ordered the Atlantic salmon, which came on a bed of tiny potatoes and broccolini absolutely what was expected, the flavors were indicative of light seasoning, and I can truly say I loved it. Needless to say, the food was fantastic. You can see the photo of my entrée below? It looks very inviting right? And indeed it was. One of my colleagues was kind enough to let me take a picture of his chicken bowl - which is below as well - and he pronounced it as pretty good. Coming from him that is high praise, indeed! The tomato bisque soup I had as an app? Pretty delicious - the only concern I would indicate was that it was just a tad too sweet, but otherwise it was served at the perfect temperature, and really hit the spot. Nicely done! So - will I bring hubby here? Yes, I think so. Definitely a worthwhile place for him to try for sure - and I will make plans to bring him here soon.

My challenge is and why I'm giving two stars is that their food is priced on a higher side with mediocre quality. They serve lamb loins, but listed as chops. I ordered lunch all the time and I've never had two mediocre loin. I asked our great waitress of how thick were the chops and where they double boned. She led me to a manager who said you get plenty of food and dodged my question. He simply should've said we don't serve chops. I spent almost $500 for six of us. I think they're a better spot to spend your money for that amount. I did reach out via phone call and email as suggested with no return calls or email. I don't plan to go back for a high priced meal plus a 3% surcharge.

I started with the Solstice Spritz -- he mentioned it was on the sweeter side, and it honestly had the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. Not overly sugary, just really well done. For an appetizer, we got the best (in my opinion), the wild mushroom toast. This location uses softer bread compared to others, and the appetizer had a slight kick to it that made it even better. Definitely a standout dish. I also tried the espresso martini, which was made with Baileys. It was strong but good -- smooth with that rich espresso flavor coming through. For my entrée, I had the butternut squash risotto. It was okay, but I felt like it could've used a bit more sauce or an extra layer of flavor. I ended up adding more parmesan, which helped elevate it a little. The inside of this location is really nice -- different from the other locations I've been to, but in a good way. The ambiance definitely added to the experience.

Shopping mall chic?…read more If you've spent any time near a mall in the suburbs, there are a few staples you'll inevitably come across, one of them being Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse at 2105 S. Spring Rd. Gibsons has long been known as a go-to for a slightly upscale steakhouse experience in the suburbs. I hadn't been in years, but we were in the area and decided to go somewhere a bit nicer for dinner to celebrate my birthday, so we gave Gibsons another try. One highlight was the complimentary valet service, it was quick, easy, and very efficient. The restaurant was busy with lots of families and celebrations. The interior has a classic, almost mob-era steakhouse vibe, reminiscent of old-school 1930s-40s Italian-American dining rooms. Service was friendly and accommodating throughout the night. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and for my entrée I had a ribeye with a side of potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered a filet mignon salad. We also shared a side salad. The food was solid overall, but the salads were a bit watery, and the ranch dressing was just okay. The steak was good, but not quite the standout I expected given the price point, ribs are close to $70, so expectations are understandably high. Everything felt consistent, but not particularly memorable. That said, Gibsons does feel very steady and familiar, which may be part of its appeal. It's the kind of place people return to because they know exactly what they're going to get. Even the bread was fine, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. One of the more memorable (and amusing) parts of the experience was the birthday tradition. I still can't fully make out what they're saying during the birthday song, it's loud, a bit barked, and honestly both funny and slightly intimidating. I can't decide if I love it or would be terrified by it as a kid. There was also an interesting moment with dessert, my ice cream was placed in a plastic bag inside a box of ice. Creative, but not exactly elegant. I definitely didn't eat it, but it was memorable in its own way. Overall, if you're looking for a consistent, classic steakhouse experience that leans more familiar than elevated, Gibsons fits that role. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
