Everything was Excellent. Upon arrival you are given a table starter of fish ceviche (ceviche de pescado) it is delicious paired with the pepper sauce and caliente sauce and always fresh. I had a strawberry margarita and Modelo as a beverage. Margarita is fresh and not premade strawberry mix and liquor content is standard. I have also had empanadas, caldo de Res soup, seafood soup, steak tacos, and pollo enchiladas verde during my visits. I have never had a bad meal and I have always had left overs. read more

They are great just a bit disorganized . Their ceviche is phenomenal. The restaurant has a weird layout but great overall.

If you like seafood, this place has all kinds of goodies! The service is friendly, especially if you can speak Spanish. However, the food didn't come out very quickly. Since I'm allergic to most shellfish, my friends who introduced me to this restaurant highly recommended the red snapper dish. It was huge, on a bed of rice and yummy sides. But the fish itself was tasteless. So weird! There are Mariachi singers if you want to be serenaded for a fee. If you like to have dessert to top off your meal, this restaurant doesn't have any on their menu... not even flan! Again, weird! read more

This mariscos spot has become our go to in the burbs for Mexican seafood. We came here once on a whim & really liked it. On our third visit, the waitress introduced us to their budget friendly lunch menu which a lot of seafood places do not have & we now love it! We even introduced my Asian mother-in-law to this restaurant & she loves it too, meeting her friends here for dinners. I remember passing this place several times. Today I was in the mood for a hot soup and decided to try the fish soup at this Mexican seafood place. It was not too busy on a Friday though it was about 5pm. They welcome you with a sample their ceviche, green salsa, lime, tostadas and crackers.careful the salsa is very spicy! I don't recommend coming here. I ordered langostinos and buttered shrimp. The langostinos were not cooked well, they tasted sour almost and super salty. The buttered shrimp were okay but again salty. The service was okay although the server couldn't accommodate any of my requests literally she said no to something as simple as sampling the diabla sauce. I was on the lookout for Paella. Finally I found excellent Seafood Paella today at Mariscos Miramar. This dish had all sorts of seafood, including mussels , two types of shrimps, crab legs, etc - the flavor was to die for. It was excellent. They initially served apprizers - civechi and fresh crushed mint chutni with crisp Tortia which was very good too. Service was pretty good and the place was very neat and clean. It was not crowded, but yet a lot of traffic. I would go there any time and try some of the other dishes. read more

We stopped in to pick up our take out order and decided to have a drink at the bar. This large mango margarita was soooo good! With tajín around the rim it was perfectly sweet and spicy that was easy to finish. Overall the service was ok the staff wasn't that attentive. We kept having to wave down someone just to get the basic necessities while we waited for our order. The food was amazing! However they can do a better job at packing sauces. We were excited to celebrate a birthday here. We were a table of seven adults, and we thought we'd have a nice meal in great company. What a disappointment with the mistreatment and lack of respect from the manager, Sol. I hope she does read this and understands her pettiness. Overall, the service, food, and drinks were good. But the shrimp cocktail was not up to par. It's a $20 shrimp cocktail, so if it was not good, our family member did not want it. He wasn't going to say anything at first. But we told the waitress he didn't like it. She took it back and we continued our evening. When the check came, we expected that the shrimp cocktail would be taken off. Most of it was not eaten. To our surprise, we were charged for half of it AND when we asked why, the manager, Sol, brought out the returned food and argued with us that her manager tasted it and nothing was wrong with it. And although 3/4 was still in the large glass, she said it was half eaten. Omg!!! We were a $400 table, but she argued with us that it was eaten and her manager's taste buds were what mattered. And when we told her that she should not argue with a customer, that the customer's taste buds are what matters, she said no, that's not true. Well it's sad that they need the $10. We won't be going back. We paid her the $10. As Latinos, we work hard to be respected, to earn our pay, and spend our money to support Latino businesses. But, we were sad that they could not follow the example of non-Latino restaurants, in which they would have gladly taken a bad food item and would have removed it from the check. My bf had been wondering about this place for a while, so today, when we were unsure as to where to go for an early dinner, I remembered this place. We walked in and we got to pick where to sit. We chose a booth in the back by the bar area. We were given menus and the complimentary ceviche and the very spicy green salsa. The ceviche was delicious! I ordered a mango margarita which was pretty tasty. As my entree I had the grilled shrimp. The size of the shrimp was impressive. They were full of flavor and there were plenty on my plate. It came with rice, salad and garlic bread. I was full but kept on eating. I ate the whole thing!!! My bf had the shrimp cocktail and a spicy shrimp dish. He enjoyed both very much. It was our 2nd visit to this place. I beleaguered it was fantastic my only comment is that my fried fish was too much fried that it got dried out and cant get any meat out of it. It was like a rock i think it should be cook less than the time they usually cook unless this is really what it's supposed to be like, However as asian and growing up in a country where we get fresh fish and seafood everyday im sure i probably know how it should be done. To celebrate the end of my summer semester and my 4.0 GPA my papi took me out to lunch after my last final exam! Of course I wanted Mariscos. They have created the best patio according to CDC guidelines. We really enjoyed sitting outside! We got the small Levante Muertos, the Pasta Brava and the Shrimp Emapanadas. We also got 2 large Tamarind Margaritas, our favorite. The Levante Muertos is soooo good! Service is soooo sweet and friendly. When you're seated they provide ceviche and chips & salsa. OMG IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! We started w/drinks ordered 2 mai tai's EPIC FAIL, tasted like straight pineapple juice. My friend sent hers back for a Cucumber margarita, it wasnt much better, but I drank it. She was done because her 2nd drink a sex on the beach which was wrong too. We ordered seafood rice, steak fajitas (medium rare), & the shrimp in garlic sauce. There was only maybe a 15min wait & we had our food. My fajitas came out sizzling hot, but they were well done! Not in a fighting mood since the drinks were already not made correctly, I just ate them anyway. They provided a sh*t load of fresh veggies with the meal, which I appreciate. I'd get this dish again. Especially for $13.00 . Shrimp in garlic sauce wasn't what I expected and I gave it to my friend to give it to her kids. The seafood rice was good, seemed a little over cooked because the rice was mushy and the prawns were hard to break open. It did have a good flavor. I'd get it again. Service was good! My go to spot for Mariscos! It's my first stop every time I visit! I go straight from the airport to here. The staff is quick and friendly. The food is so good and authentic. You really can't order anything bad here but my favorites are definitely the langonstinos, mejillones, and the mocajete. The music played brings everything together! After my first experience at a different las islas I was certain all of them were terrrible. I was wrong! Came here for lunch yesterday with a couple of coworkers ans I'm glad I did. The ceviche they start off with is really good. Wish they gave more. The green sauce oh my word it is spicy! I wasn't expecting such spiciness, but it was good. A lil went a long way. We ordered the shrimp empanadas to start. They were really good with a combination of the green sauce and the dipping sauce they came with. 2 of us ordered the grilled shrimp in like a teriyaki garlic sauce. It was sooo good!! Perfectly grilled ans flavored. The salad could have came with a dressing. I'm not a fan of plain salad. The rice was good. Not the typical rice I was expecting, but still good. Overall we were both really pleased with our lunches. 1 ordered the shrimp and octopus cocktail. Its her go to whenever she eats here so she enjoyed her lunch as well. Can't wait to stop in again! I really enjoyed Las Islas. My friend and I decided upon Islas on a Friday evening around 7pm or so and it was fairly busy with only a few available open tables. We were, however, still sat almost immediately. I instantly felt immersed in the Mexican culture, due to the live mariachi band that was playing at the time. The nautical decor definitely suits the place well, as the place's speciality happens to be seafood. I ordered the shrimp tacos which I enjoyed and my friend had the shrimp enchilada dinner.*** The salsas they provide for your complementary chips are phenomenal; I could honestly just come back here and order just a big bowl of the white fish salsa if I could. The staff was decent-- I could have done with a little more attentiveness in asking how we were doing, but still friendly, nonetheless. ***My friend went home that night with a stomach ache, believing the cause to be the apparently very hot salsa that comes with the shrimp enchiladas (mind you, her tolerance for spiciness is fairly high). Do not go here if you're in a hurry! The service here brings real truth to the "Mexican minute". However, the seafood really is delicious. Camarones al ajo is to die for! Everything else is pretty average (i.e. The steak tacos I ordered last time). So always stick to the seafood. Their alcohol never seems strong enough for the value so my husband and I just stick with our entrees. To begin the meal they put a seafood salad on the table and that is also quite swell to nosh on. I love the food here but unfortunately the service is always lacking. The last 4 times I've gone here I get the same waitress and the last three times I was way more than considerate. I would understand if the place was busy, but it never was when we were there she did not come and check on us as much as I have had in other establishments. Sometimes we would need water refills or drink refills and she would be standing by the kitchen or sitting down at a table, talking to other waitresses or employees. There was times that I wanted to get up and go get her,this last time we were there. We got up to go to the bathroom she in fact saw us and quickly got up because she thought we were going to go get her. We let her know we were going to go to the bathroom and that we wanted our check. If we wouldn't have gotten up for the bathroom we would've been sitting there for another 15 minutes. I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was great besides that it didn't have enough sauce so I asked for more and they changed me 3.00 and then when we went to the bathroom they took the remainder of the sauce I was going to take home. At this point I might honestly go to another location. The taste is there but you need to be consistent with the sauce how you gunna charge extra for something you were supposed to have on my plate from the start... Mexican seafood is quickly becoming one of my favorite cuisines. The flavor profile of spicy and sourness with the seafood pairs so well, just talking about it is making me craving it again. I've been to Las Islas twice, and both times, the food was quite good. I enjoyed the tableside ceviche and tostadas, and my favorite has to be the seafood paella and the molcajete cora - which was a mixed seafood cooked with delightful spices. Every bite of those two were flavorful! I'm not the biggest fan of their red devil sauce that is paired with the shrimp.. It tasted more tamoto-y and sweet than I wanted. They were kind to drench the sauce in the fried tilapia dish we got- which was really good too! Next time maybe we'll opt for the garlic sauce, but it's good to know they do that with request. Lastly, the mango margaritas was definitely hit! They weren't icy, rather a creamy blend of mango and tequila that was a delight to drink! I also tasted the pina colada, and it was pretty good. All in all, I know this place will remain on my list for when I crave some good mexican seafood when I'm in the suburbs. The prices are a bit steep but the food is definitely enjoyable! read more

The quest for the best Taco Tuesday continues. Las Islas taco special is $1 chicken, shrimp, or fish tacos. Fish and Shrimp are both fried and chopped up on the tortilla and the chicken cooked in red sauce like you see at most places. They are offered with onions/cilantro or lettuce/tomato. Menu states cheese, sour cream, or avocado is .25 extra. I ordered one of each with cilantro and onion and a side of rice and beans. The tacos were tiny-I would say 3-4 bites tops. I can see why they are only $1. The chicken was delicious and the taco as a whole was one of the best I have had in awhile. The shrimp and fish were hard to tell which is which. They were both breaded and seemed like they were out of a bag. They were deep fried so crispy that I am not sure any of the fish inside survived. This was surprising as this is a seafood restaurant. The rice and beans were $2.50 each and were not very good. The beans were runny and super salty. The rice was pretty much plain white rice with a couple pieces of corn in it. This is more of a sit down seafood restaurant than a taqueria ('traditional dishes' burritos, quesadillas, etc are toward the back of the menu). When you sit down you are given a tray of tostada shells and saltines, a bowl of ceviche, and a bowl of green salsa which was super spicy, and limes. The ceviche was delicious and went quickly. They have a full bar and I had a margarita. It was super sweet and I didnt taste much tequila. Service was friendly but not very quick even though it was not crowded and we just had tacos. The atmosphere was so-so but we did go a bit late in the day There were a couple of musicians strolling and playing. I would like to go back to try some of the seafood as the menu was loaded with cocktails, soups, pastas, and tons of shrimp and fish dishes. Overall the bill for food (10 tacos and rice and beans) was about $16.50 so it was the cheapest we have seen so far but the small tacos left us a bit hungry. Skip the beans and rice and load up on the chicken tacos. Three up-- 1. While small, the chicken taco was the best bite for bite Taco Tuesday Taco I've had so far. 2. If you stick to tacos, the value cant be beat. 3. Free Ceviche! Three down-- 1. Tacos were tiny but at $1 you can order extra. 2. 15% service charge for groups of four or more? I've never heard of such. It's perhaps necessary, though, since the service was so awful that otherwise they wouldn't get much in tips at all. We waited nine minutes to get our server to even take our drink order. At times it seemed she was actively avoiding our table. She also charged our table for three corona buckets, when we only had two. Like we wouldn't notice or something? Live Banda music, busy atmosphere, clean and bright restaurant... coming in we thought we were in for a great experience but we were wrong. My mango marg was good and my chicken burrito was decent but nowhere near worth it to come again and be ignored. When we got there we were not acknowledged we were standing there a while until we just decided to go sit down ourselves. But of course when we started walking a guy came up to us and said you can sit wherever you want. So we sit down after a long day at an expo. We were just starving! This was my first time here and overall I had a pretty good experience. A couple of my family members have already been here before so they recommend we go here for lunch. We went in around 1:30 pm on Saturday and was seated quite fast. From what I heard on weekdays during lunch time this place is packed and you have to wait to be seated. The day we went there was a live mariachi band, it definitely brought lots of energy and fun to the place, I don't think the mariachi band is typically their on the weekdays but I could be wrong. My family said this was the first time they saw them so I'm assuming it's just a weekend and special occasion thing. Also as a heads up some of these dishes can be kind of pricey but that should not come to surprise since it's pretty much all fresh seafood (definitely worth it). Now when it comes to the food. I don't know why but the shrimp enchiladas I got I wasn't fully satisfied by. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it, it seemed way to salty to me but I gave some to other people in my family to try and they liked it a lot. Now when it comes to everything else we ordered it was absolutely magnificent. We had the shrimp empanadas as an appetizer with some sauce they give to you (kind of tastes like thousand island) which was amazing. I will definitely be getting that again next time. My brother got the pasta costa bravo which included mussels, shrimp, scallops and mushrooms combined with some linguine and a spicy sauce in which he said he enjoyed very much. He loved the bacon wrapped shrimp he got the first time he was here but he said this was way better. My father got the the alambres with chicken which was green pepper, onions, bacon, melted cheese and your choice of protein. For this place focusing on seafood this chicken dish was out of the park. It's hard to find places my dad likes and he really enjoyed his dish here. Then to finish things off my mother got the shrimp taco dinner, three tacos filled with breaded crispy shrimp and you have the option to tell them if you want cheese, sour cream or any other fixings on them. My mother loved it and I honestly thought it was some of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. The first time she went she got one of the dishes Las Islas Marias is famous for and that is the Pina Rellena which is half a pineapple stuffed with melted cheese, seafood arranging in shrimp, scallops, imitation crab meat, chopped pineapple and usually has octopus as well but she told them to take that out. Another dish she thought was stellar. Margaritas and Pina Coladas absolutely humongous and great as well. If that's not enough they give you a free starter of some tostadas with a side of ceviche and a very spicy green salsa. Though I wasn't highly satisfied with my enchiladas due to my overall experience with everything else they had and how everyone in my family felt about this place as well, this place is getting nothing lower then a 5 all day! Saturday August 1, we came to this location to have some tasty seafood and drinks. We were seated and it was slow for a Saturday night. We ordered our drinks which was a strawberry frozen margarita which was very sweet and didnt taste like alcohol which was a bit disappointing and a cantarito which was way better than the bland margarita. We started with shrimp empanadas as an appetizer, they were good. Our main entrees were mojarra frita it was OKAY, not much flavor there and a coctele vasito loco which was quiet disappointing and flavorless. Service was slow and seemed like they do not care much. Overall experience was not good, had better food at other places. The drinks need some work and should be done by a professional bartender. read more
