Victory Seafood has become one of our favorite date-night spots. My wife and I especially love coming during happy hour from 4-6 PM. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is always friendly, and the food and cocktails are consistently outstanding. The grapefruit martini is one of the best I've had anywhere--perfectly balanced, refreshing, and dangerously easy to enjoy. Their Old Fashioned is equally impressive and has become one of my favorites in the area. As for the food, the Chilean sea bass with crab crust is absolutely phenomenal. It's rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly every time. The oysters are hands-down the best we've found around here...fresh, clean, and expertly prepared. It's rare to find a place that excels at both seafood and cocktails, but Victory delivers on both. This was our first visit here. the bread we got was very very good. The sangria is delicious. Ask for it sweet with light ice. the oysters Rockefeller was very small and was OK, but I couldn't taste the oyster in it. Just breadcrumbs. The stuffed shrimp dinner was so delicious!!! . I went to this restaurant with a larger group. They accommodated our reservation with no problem and had everything set when we arrived. The drinks were very good & the menu had a variety of options of meat and seafoods (obviously) but also included salads and such if you are a vegetarian. The service was a great and the backwaitors were always making sure our waters were full and our used dishes were quickly taken away. I really want to like this place and Elmhurst needs all the help it can get, but the food is subpar for the price point. I really don't understand the reviews from others about how amazing the food is it really was not that great. Noise - they really need to do something about the noise level it is so loud you can't even hear the person sitting right next to you and they weren't even that busy. Service was great. Went on Valentine's Day, early dinner so it wasn't packed. Our experience was disappointing due to the lack of quality of food and the lack of attentiveness. Decor and lighting is as basic as it gets. Not sure if this supposed to be upscale type of restaurant. But most of the ones downtown don't come out with paper menus and no drink menus. Service was slow from the start. Waited 20minutes for just two drinks. Then the food took about 30-45minutes. Each table near us was also waiting around to be served. Server never apologized for any wait. They have two managers standing at the front with the hostess when they should be helping out. For appetizers, we ordered raw oysters which were good and grilled calamari, those were tough. The whitefish was the best dish we ordered. The side of mac and cheese with lobster is one of the most basic Kraft type of cheese tastes I've ever had. Had the kids share the orcchiette sausage which was good. Grigliato misto unfortunately was cold and the calamari was tough. Seemed like that dish was sitting out too long. For the price and supposed upscale vibe, you'd expect better execution, especially with basics like mac and cheese and properly cooked seafood. I would not spend my money here again. read more

The food was very good and the table next to us had a great couple we were talking to each other very friendly people. The whole experience was a Five from the moment I made the reservation to the moment we left after 9:00pm. My party of 8, then 10, final count 13 was not the easiest to please. Let Us Talk About This Place! First of all, WOW! I was not expecting this out of Elmhurst, IL. Second of all, the servers are FANTASTIC! I went earlier in the summer and we had Ray as our server. A gentleman, professional, prompt, and all around awesome! The bussers and other servers were very helpful and they all worked together. OK, they oysters! They have oysters! Sorry folks, that makes me excited. Suck on that oyster shell. I can't tell you how many dozen we ordered but we were able to select from a few types of oysters (two or three types if I recall). I wasn't a huge fan of the mignonette sauce, but that's ok. Lemon is enough for me and a dirty martini can help wash away anything else. I went ahead and ordered the Broiled Whitefish and it was a large piece that wasn't too dense, nor was it dry. It sat on a bed of broccolini veggies and were seasoned well with the skin on. I just needed to add a bit of lemon because lemon matches my sour soul. Well, I was told to try the Pineapple Martini. It's pineapple infused vodka and it's dangerous. You don't think there's liquor in there, but there sure is. The only factor I didn't like is that when I reserved my spot, I couldn't tell them on Open Table that I wanted outdoor seating. Luckily I got it, but you better find a way to call or let them know when you reserve. There's plenty of seating but the place is always packed. I really enjoyed this place. Absolutely delicious food. A must try place for seafood everything was made perfect and tasted so fresh. Lots of good options for steak and chicken as well on the menu! The place was bustling on a Friday night so make sure you have a resy. The inside was split into two sections, on the left where we sat it was more of a quiet, dim, romantic sit down atmosphere and on the right busy, illuminated and lively. We had oysters as an app and Chilean sea bass for dinner while splitting the jalapeño hash browns on the side and I will say I was absolutely stuffed. I spend a lot of time in downtown Elmhurst so I am a frequent patron at the restaurants there. I finally got around to trying Victory, which has been a longtime staple of the downtown area. My experience was very positive. First, the restaurant is upscale and very popular. On a Saturday night it is buzzing with energy. They had some great Italian bread and the calamaria and mussel appetizers were great! I was also very satisified, thought slightly less so, with the seabass. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly, making it an all-around great experience. It was a bit dark, and I thought the outdoor seating in the summer may be an improvment. I did dock it a star because wait times could be long on the night I went and the bill--even for a restaurant of this type--was a bit expensive by the end. That said, I would recommend it to anyone looking for good seafood in downtown Elmhurst. read more

She was extremely rude and cocky to myself and my group but also to other guests as well. As a restaurant manager myself, I was disgusted with how they allow her to act. Ok. So let's be frank. I eat out A LOT. All over the country. Last night's meal at Victory lands in the Top 10 of all meals ever ON OUR FIRST visit. Totally stumbled upon it after trekking out to the suburbs for a birthday bar crawl that started at the place we wanted to eat- One Fifty One- then dived afterwards with the next stop being Buffalo Wild Wings. Next after was supposed to be Red Arrow but we didn't have reservations and it was just standing room only so we bailed in search of dinner. They had my husband and I at lobster roll and a cheeseburger on the menu. We diverged from that game plan quickly when we sat down. We ended up with the meatballs, elote, and branzino served with wild rice. Let's start with the crack meatballs. Two the size of tennis balls plated with sauce and ricotta and served with two pieces of Texas toast sized bread slathered in butter. OHEMGEE. If heave had a taste and it was savory, it would be these meatballs. Then came the branzino which was grilled whole, brought out to the table for us to view, then whisked back to the kitchen where it was deboned and then finally served to us on a platted with some olive oil and lemon. Finally, the elote. Roasted and taken off of the husk with lime then tossed with a few jalapeños and Parmesan cheese. ALL SO DELICIOUS. We texted our birthday mates who had settled for BWW wings while we savored the meal that we definitely were going to check this place out soon. So. Damn. Good. Carlos was our server and he was super duper nice. The other wait staff and the manager also checked on us- not too much to be annoying but just the right amount to feel like they really cared about us and our whole experience. Definitely worth checking out. Our next visit might be on a Saturday when they serve a prime rib special. read more

Dined at Victory last night at it was great! The last couple times I was here here my steak hadn't been done well (or it was, which is the problem with this medium rare girl). I was worried that since thy had added the room to the side they were too busy and attention to detail and food took the hit for it. But worry no more! The service was impeccable. Attentive and personable without being overbearing. Definitely an A+. The menu is always great- steaks, pork chops, chicken, seafood. All great. For vegetarians I could happily make a meal out of the sides. There is something for everyone. I tried the orzo cacio e Pepe for the first time. Great side dish for a flavorful steak - rich and creamy but understated to let the beef shine. Very limited on the"Pepe" like couldn't even see pepper. That's actually better for me and I loved it, but if you are a pepper fan just a warning. Add your own. I will definitely be getting it again (the corn is also fantastic. Amazing creamed or sautéed spinach. Brussels sprouts are good but won't be getting them again as I prefer other options) All in all very happy with my dining experience! Excited for some leftovers today :). And I have a friend coming to town who specifically requested we go on Thursday! My favorite spot in Elmhurst for any nice occasion, dinner with friends, fun night out. It's not cheap,but the prices have never shied me away given quality and yumminess factors. 3.5 stars, all things considered. Had heard mixed reviews before my very first visit to Victory. Some were rave reviews, other opinions weren't as positive - many folks said it's way overpriced. This is the burbs after all. Anyhow, went with a group of 5 other buddies (fellow dads) on a beautiful Sat evening, during March Madness I might add. It was packed. Cool atmosphere overall, though a tight squeeze on that particular night. Had an optimal table to watch the NCAA tourney games. Initial service was prompt and our first round drinks arrived in a timely manner, that particular round anyway. Then things began to take a turn for the worse. The subsequent drink rounds were all over the place. The server forgot about our table for a while, then made up for it by bringing us round after round of stiff drinks, without us even ordering more. Ok, not complaining per se, but we def got pretty tanked. Thankfully a few apps saved us. The calamari was tasty and the raw oysters were pretty good as well (Victory advertises to be an oyster bar btw). But all the while, our main course dishes took absolutely forever to arrive, as in well over a 1.5 hour wait! When the steaks and fish finally arrived, they might as well have been pizza bagel bites as we simply needed sustenance to soak up all that booze, much of which we didn't even order. Suppose any food would have sufficed by that time. But in all fairness, despite being hammered, the food was very good. Kudos to Victory for that. But then, after sobering up the next day, turns out Victory overcharged the entire group. Not cool. We weren't THAT wasted. I still plan to give Victory another chance, but clearly some room for improvement. read more

Victory turned out to be a big win. My wife and I visited earlier this summer for Oyster Mania. We ordered a dozen to start then just kept going. The product was fresh, the variety was great and the service was tops. We washed down the oysters with a few martinis, decided to order up a seafood platter and truly enjoyed a nice evening. Here's why we'll be back. In passing I mentioned to our waiter that some portion of the octopus on the platter was a little over cooked. He was very apologetic and said he'd share our feedback with the chef. A few minutes later a gentleman came to our table and asked us for more feedback. It wasn't the chef, I believe he may have been the GM. We shared our experience (which again was outstanding with the exception of a tough piece of octopus), he insisted that we not pay for the seafood platter because 'it doesn't meet our standard, please accept my apology.' I almost fell out of my chair. Wow! True, prices at Victory are similar to downtown Chicago prices. I've heard that a few times. If that's true, think of it this way, so too is the quality of the food and service, and you don't have to battle your way into the City. Just go to York St. Thanks VMS. read more
