Came here for dinner with some friends and had a really nice experience overall. Our waiter was very attentive and informative, which always makes a difference. I started with the Solstice Spritz -- he mentioned it was on the sweeter side, and it honestly had the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. Not overly sugary, just really well done. For an appetizer, we got the best (in my opinion), the wild mushroom toast. This location uses softer bread compared to others, and the appetizer had a slight kick to it that made it even better. Definitely a standout dish. I also tried the espresso martini, which was made with Baileys. It was strong but good -- smooth with that rich espresso flavor coming through. For my entrée, I had the butternut squash risotto. It was okay, but I felt like it could've used a bit more sauce or an extra layer of flavor. I ended up adding more parmesan, which helped elevate it a little. The inside of this location is really nice -- different from the other locations I've been to, but in a good way. As I stepped into Gia Mia the place reminded me of Italy, the service was amazing the place was very welcoming and the food was really good. Quick date night with my husband. We decided to come here after catching a midafternoon movie with no reservation. I don't normally enjoy sitting at the bar but the seats were comfy and there was plenty of room where I don't feel crammed. We decided to split a pizza and the short rib. I wish the short rib dish came with more gnocchi , the flavor was just okay. The pizza on the other hand was delicious and we ended up ordering another! Great dough! read more

I had dinner with a friend at Gia Mia on a Wednesday night. It's located in downtown Elmhurst. It was easy to find free street parking right outside the restaurant. We were seated quickly without any wait. The menu has a good variety of salads, pastas, and pizzas. Everything is pretty reasonably priced. To start, we shared the proscuitto and fig bruschetta, which was 2/5. The bruschetta was burned black (visible in photo), and you could taste the burnt bread on certain bites. While the fig, balsamic, and ricotta were good, it was very difficult to get past the taste of burnt bread. For my entree, I ordered the butternut squash risotto. The presentation was great. It was topped with fresh basil, bacon, cheese, and microgreens. Overall, this was a very underwhelming dish. While the risotto was well cooked, there was very little flavor. It also had a few pieces of actual butternut squash. This was a 2/5 for me. Service was great, but I was disappointed by the food. read more

5/5 for the food, 2/5 for service. My son and I stopped in around 2:46 on a Friday afternoon to try the Paccherri Vodka pasta and it's fantastic. Worth the trip from downtown. Service was abysmal. The hostess couldn't be bothered to host. I think after 10 minutes or so the staff drew straws to figure out who was going to wait on us or it finally registered there were patrons in the building. I have been to multiple Gia Mia locations around the Chicago suburbs and the Eggplant Parmigiano is consistently amazing. It is crispy, flavorful, and the sauce with the arugula ties everything together so well. I keep coming back just for that dish because it never disappoints. I also tried the paccheri vodka and it was not my favorite since I did not enjoy the sauce, but the eggplant alone makes this place worth visiting. Overall great food and a solid spot for Italian in the suburbs. read more

An absolute hidden gem! We came to Gia Mia for a late lunch with our dog and man were we delighted! We ordered the red and white wine sangria- both were absolutely delicious! We started with the eggplant Parmesan from the appetizers with a side of kids pasta... it was one of the best Parmesan dishes I have ever eaten! We both were raving about the appetizer! My wife and I live right next door and have ordered food online several times and never been disappointed. Today we finally sat down at the bar to watch the basketball games and Sarah B made us feel right at home. Exceptional service! There seemed to be a crowd at the entrance to the restaurant when I arrived and though that there would be a long wait for a table but the people there were waiting for togo orders that seemed to be taking an extended amount of time. I was sat after a short wait while the hostess cleared some tables. My server in the bar area was Gianna and she was incredible. I asked for an order of bread and it came grilled along with some butter and it was delicious. I was afraid with the delay in the togo orders that my entree would take a long time but it came out quickly. The chicken parm I ordered came with red tomato sauce on the chicken and a pesto sauce on the pasta. It was a fun mix of red and green Xmas looking dish when they set it in front of me. The red sauce was outstanding but the pesto missed the mark with only minimal flavor. I wish I had just gotten the red sauce on the whole entree. The cheese on top was a miss also as it was a solid clump that I just had to move off the chicken. A bit of a disappointed with the food but the service was top notch. read more

No complaints about the service either; everyone was friendly and kept things moving. They have a small patio outside that makes it perfect for summertime. Wasn't sure what to expect, I'm not the biggest fan of Italian food or pastas in general but I was pleasantly surprised. This location is quieter large so it's good for parties of all sizes. There is free enclosed parking right next door so parking was not a problems The food was pretty good. The standout by far was the short rib gnocchi, it comes drenched in a beef au jus which was so good. The gnocchi was really soft and pillowy, and I normally don't like gnocchi, loved these. The smoked chicken bbq pizza was good, although I would prefer the dough to be more crispy, it was pretty soft, because of that the pizza dough was a bit chewy. That said next time I would ask them to cook a bit longer and I would like to try the other pizzas on the menu. The calamari fritti was decent, I would prefer a lighter batter and more squid. I've definitely had better but I've also had worse. Our waitress Megan was really nice and attentive so shoutout to her. I'd like to come back for the short beef and to try some of the other pizza offerings. read more

Came here for a date night and it was great! There was an event going on in the neighborhood so the place was very lively! Luckily, we had a reservation and were very quickly seated! The staff was welcoming and attentive, yet, not hovering over us, which is always great. I had been in the mood for some chicken parm, and this hit the spot! The sauce was nice and smokey, which I loved and the idea of pairing this with pesto pasta was interesting, and something i very much enjoyed. The real treat here of course was the chicken, which was nice and juicy and breaded to perfection. The drink I had was also great! A pineapple old fashioned? Or something along those lines. Delicious and the dried pineapple was also a nice touch! The ricotta and honey bread appetizer was also DELICIOUS! Low tops, high tops, and some space for larger groups. I'd checked out the menu in advance and was taken by the lunch special. It's a 7" pizza and salad combo. I got the pear and caramelized onion pizza and baby kale salad sans bacon. Both we very tasty. My friend got the balsamic chicken salad. It was the perfect place to meet and catch up. We came for an early Lunch on Sunday. It was relatively empty , I have been to other outlets and personally feel the food here isn't as tasty as others. We got a Margherita pizza that was delicious a bolognese, that to me missed the mark. The arancini was the stand out here. Fresh flavors , and hit the mark. Calamari doesn't deserve much mention because the batter was falling and hard to pick up. To start, this Italian restaurant is super cute as you can see by the photos. There is plenty of seating whether you want to sit on the enclosed heated patio, high top by the bar, or low seating throughout. When you walk in, the wood fire oven is visible and really cool to watch them create some tasty pizzas. The service was prompt and super friendly. They are attentive but not overbearing, which I appreciate. My friend and got the calamari to start for an appetizer. Skip this. The calamari was extremely rubbery and tough. The sauce tasted like I was eating a whole lemon. It did not go well with the calamari. This was quite disappointing. For our main entrées, we went with the Balsamic chicken salad, Prosciutto and arugula wood fire pizza, and lasagna. The salad was absolutely delicious. The strawberries were fresh, pecans balanced out the sweetness, and the avocado gave hints of creaminess. Their lemon vinaigrette dressing paired perfectly with all of the ingredients. The wood fired pizza was cooked perfectly and the prosciutto was so tasty! Fresh mozzarella on top of this delicious wood fire pizza with the perfect sauce and crust. Last but not least, the lasagna! The lasagna was my favorite! The sauce had some surprising heat to it, but I really enjoyed it. It was also a nice portion. The pasta itself tasted homemade and authentic. The biggest surprise was that we were leaving and Brianna gave us a refill on my granddaughters drink to go. Never in my whole life has anyone done that out of the kindness of their heart. Second time dining at GIA MIA this past weekend and enjoyed it as much as my first. Their menu look delicious that matches the beautiful restaurant. Started with the ricotta honeycomb which was good, but have had the same dish better somewhere else. We had to ask for more bread because not enough was given with the portion of ricotta. I also would have enjoyed more honey with the dish. Their pizza options look good - I tried the Bruno pizza this time around which was suggested by the waitress. I enjoyed my pizza but my friend who ordered the north end pizza gluten free did not enjoy hers which I was disappointed about. She had mentioned the north end pizza having a weird combination of ingredients which I agreed, and the GF pizza crust tasted like it was a frozen pizza quality. However, I enjoyed my Bruno pizza! Nothing out of this world, but I do think that this restaurant is a good addition to the downtown Elmhurst area. I also think the quality of food coming out of the kitchen looks very good as well. I just felt bad for my friend who didn't enjoy her gluten free pizza. Gluten free options for pizza and pasta are an up charge of $3, but love that they have this option for GF eaters. The manager finally sat us. They were out of the only Riesling they had on the menu. We shared the gnocchi and meatball appetizers. We each had a different pizza and shared so we could try all. Bbq chicken, pear and caramelized onion, blanco tomatoes, prosciutto. Updated review. 2 years later I still love this place. I'm not a fan of Italian dining in general but this place is so so good. I haven't had anything I haven't liked. The Tuscan shrimp is still a fav. The pastas I haven't had much but just tried the paccheri vodka with chicken and no pork, and it was so good. The portion wasn't very large but definitely adequate. The chicken was blackened which made it extra yummy. The tiramisu was good but wouldn't order it again personally. I love the idea of mini desserts for kids and adults alike. The ambiance is modern and it's always full, even on a Wednesday night. Gabby was our server last night and she was great- very speedy and friendly and gave me great recs. They even take Apple Pay.
