Everything here from the service to the food to the atmosphere is amazing. My husband and I have gone here a few times and it's one of our favorite restaurants in Hollister. I love that they change the menu based on what's in season. I like trying new things and I am never disappointed here. The short rib is my favorite. Steak Diane is also great. We came here for a birthday dinner and had a great experience overall. Reservations were easy, our waitress was amazing, and the service was excellent from start to finish. I ordered the Diane steak and loved it, and my in laws really enjoyed the salmon. My sister in law ordered the apricot chicken but was disappointed that it was made with chicken thigh, since the menu did not specify that and she was expecting chicken breast. It was definitely an expensive dinner, and for the price, I do think some complimentary bread and butter would have been a nice touch. Our waitress also brought out a complimentary birthday dessert, which we really appreciated. I wish I had caught her name because she truly provided wonderful service. This was my first time actually eating here, but my second time visiting. The first time, we were turned away because I was wearing shorts, which apparently was against their dress code at the time. I understand they have since changed that policy. Unfortunately, on this visit, the same blonde-haired hostess who turned me away previously made comments to my family and me about our attire. Although we were seated and able to eat this time, the comments were unnecessary and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The restaurant itself is very nice, and the food was great. Everything came out quickly, and we were very happy with our meals. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our server was inattentive and repeatedly walked by without making eye contact or checking on us, making it difficult to get her attention. After we had finished eating, our empty plates sat in front of us for more than 15 minutes. Eventually, I had to call out to our server just to get the check. There was a gentleman who appeared to be a manager who was very friendly and did check in on us, which we appreciated. At the same time, there appeared to be a few other manager-type employees, including the hostess, walking around while the actual service staff seemed stretched thin. It felt like the restaurant could have benefited from additional servers or bussers rather than having so many people overseeing the floor. Overall, the food was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful, but the service and atmosphere made the experience uncomfortable and disappointing. For a restaurant that seems to be aiming for a more upscale experience, I would expect the hospitality and service to match. Unfortunately, based on both of our experiences here, I don't think we'll be back. read more

Would definitely come here again! The food was delicious and surprised us. The restaurant is on a golf course and had large glass windows and doors, so the scenery was beautiful for dinner time. The interior of the restaurant was newly renovated and is so spacious and elegant with a high exposed wooden beams ceiling with sky lights. My wife and I had the baked Brie for the appetizer, the Iberian Pork tenderloin and short ribs for the entree, and the Pavlova for dessert. Honestly, all of these dishes were delicious, but my favorite was the Pork tenderloin which had so much flavors in the pork and the condiments. They were also very kind to give us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary! There were a couple instances where the service could be cleaned up though. So we have been here three times now and it's a nice restaurant with some great people working there. But for the three times we have went we have been repeatedly served stuck together pasta in their Chicken Marsala dish. This last time, the chef said that it's supposed to have a bite in the pasta and he is correct. But what he didn't address was that there were more than 5-6 strings of pappardelle in a few different clumps all stuck together still with dried flour on them. So they said they would re fire the order for me and it came back like what you see in the photo. Much worse that the first order that night and our side of broccolini was cold as if it was just out of the fridge. After the last order came back they offered to re fire it again and I had to just say no. I asked them to see what the chef could put out on the fly and I got short ribs. They were good but it wasn't chicken nor was it what I really wanted. Now don't get me wrong, the service is awesome and the drinks are fantastic but the menu/chef need a bit of help. If that happens, it will be a much better spot to hit in our area. read more

I was shocked at how good this dining experience was. First, the service was impeccable. Two people looking after our table making sure everything was perfect. The revamped space was very elegant and well done. Lastly, the food was superb. We started with tuna carpaccio and the beet salad. For mains we had seafood risotto and salmon. Finally, dessert was a chocolate cherry cake as well bread pudding bites and a truffle as a gift for our anniversary. Everything was professionally plated with attention to detail. Had such an amazing experience here. The manager (I believe his name was James) was so welcoming and checked on us multiple times. He strives to have a nice restaurant in town, where you actually have to dress nice for. The bartender Ally was SO NICE and her drinks were incredible! We had a couple of special requests and she accommodated them without hesitation. Our server was so nice, she apologized any time anything took too long even though nothing really took that long for a busy valentines night. In Hollister on business. Didn't have a lot of expectations and then 36 knocks it out of the park! I sat at the bar and was served by a very attentive and friendly (in just the right amount) Julio. The room is gorgeous with an equally gorgeous view. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I would have finished the night on the patio watching the shadows cross the fields and fairways. 36 Degrees North is a great addition to the area. It's in a golf club, but the restaurant is a destination with its own entrance. From the moment we checked in with the host, we were amazed. We arrived early so we got some cocktails; my wife ordered the espresso martini and I and blue cheese martini - both amazing. The menu is a steakhouse menu, and it all sounded delicious. I ordered the short rib and my wife the chicken Marsala. We enjoyed every second of the main course, but the tuna carpaccio appetizer stole the show. I could have ordered 2 of those for my entree. While pricey for where it is, Hollister a rural town little offerings, but once you experience this dining, it is justified. Service was great. View of the course amazing. Was greeted by a nice gentleman "Raul" who accommodated us with our table under the beautiful olive tree. Our waiter Sophia was also very fabulous and recommended very tasty food. I give the food and drinks 5 stars. Everything about our dinner this evening was amazing. It is also inexpensive and you get a great portion for what you pay. Just went for Mother's Day brunch and our experience was excellent. Upon entering the doors, we were greeted with a warm & welcoming smile by the hostess. Followed by an additional greeting and welcome from another employee, who led us to our table. The buffet set up was simple yet beautiful and clean. There was a good variety of foods available for palettes of all age ranges. I loved that they had egg whites as an option!!!! The salads were delicious & fresh! The display of fresh fruits was bountiful and the quality of the fruit was noticeable. Walking in on 4/30 after 6pm the atmosphere was very nice, place looks incredible and a very nice elder lady greeted us and sat us down. I had reservations and specified on my reservation the occasion was a birthday. Before I dive into the reason for 2 stars, I want to say the food was delicious. My salmon was cooked perfectly! Now, the service: The waitress took our drink order after about 15 minutes. She brought the drinks promptly and we ordered our food about 10 minutes later. My husband asked about a side dinner salad, she said she could do that. When she checked in on us about 15 minutes after we told her the soda tasted funny. She took it and said she would replace it. We received our order about 25 minutes later, proceeded to eat our dinner and never got our drink back, nor did she check in. As my husband finished his dinner, she brought his drink and apologized because "the bar" messed up. Never mind the fact we were pretty much done. We finished dinner and then it took about another 15 minutes to have the hostess (nice lady) check on us so we could request a dessert menu. Finally our waitress came back as we were ordering dessert from the nice lady and I casually said, whatever the birthday boy wants. It took another 15 minutes to get the apple pie dessert at which point the waitress offered coffee on the house for the earlier mess up and said she would also comp the drink and again threw the bar under the bus. Meanwhile, we watched the waitress at another table sing happy birthday to someone in that party. We finished dessert and coffee never came! Nor did she come back acknowledging the birthday. We were looking around and the nice lady again noticed and came to our table. We told her we were waiting for coffee but now just wanted our dinner check. The waitress brought the check. The drink was on the check, the side dinner salad was charged at the regular salad price which she didn't mention would be. When she came back to get the check and payment we mentioned the drink which she kindly said she would remove. She did come back quickly, we paid and this is 2 hours since arrival for a party of two. Had the service been better they would have received a good review. The nice hostess deserves 5 stars and she said she was new!!! The chef deserves 5 stars. read more

Unremarkable visit on Valentine's day, first time there. Beverages at the bar were quickly served and not full pours ( vodka tonic and vodka rocks) - rated Meh seated for dinner at a nice table, server was pleasant. We were hoping for a well made meal that was not rushed, and informed the server who acknowledged our request. we ordered wine, salad and soup appetizers, only to be informed that they ran out of the wine we chose. The substitute Cabernet provided was not a quality cab but reminiscent of a thin chianti- uber Meh! Apps were served promptly, but within 10 minutes our entrees arrived, to which I said, this is too early! Also, I would not recommend the chiopino , which was served with half a crab literally on its side in the middle of the bowl. There were no utensils to open the crab provided and we had to ask for them! The restaurant was slower by this time, (we chose a later dinner res for this purpose) The bread was charred with black grill marks and smelled of char, not bread. The Steak Oscar, was not hot upon arrival ( albeit early) and had a gray exterior, very unappealing looking! Taste was again-Meh, needed seasoning too! Also, bread was not served until we reminded them it hadn't been served. I have to say the company was superb and the server was apologetic once she finally returned.... but overall capital MEH. I hope one day Hollister has a restaurant with better quality... I would rather go elsewhere to dine... this is just food with a little ambiance, not a dining destination! With Monterey, Carmel or even Santa Cruz so close I will go there instead. NOT WORTH THE MONEY read more

I ordered bruschetta- it was ok but it was very rich .. and I ordered the shrimp scampi - it didn't taste like scampi AT ALL.. it was dry and tasted like dirt ... my chicken Marsala was pretty bad. Wonderful newly renovated fine dining in San Benito county! This place is elegant and beautiful place to celebrate a special event. The food is innovative, delicious and good portion sizes. It's expensive but justifiably so...the food is excellent and the atmosphere is equally amazing! The service is prompt and courteous but the only reason for 4.5 is that the food timing isn't 100%, so our entrees salad and appetizers came too close together. They offered to give us a dessert but we just wanted to give the constructive feedback. And we were so full! The bartender loves making his own fruit purées for cocktails and shared his many innovative blends while we waited at the bar. You should definitely try this gem in San Benito county! read more

The hostess was very nice and as she came around during our stay she made personalized connections with all patrons. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. I felt she knew the menu very well considering how new the restaurant is. The food was spectacular! I was so shocked to have good food in the area. Sadly, the county of San Benito is severely lacking in the food department and this place is definitely a huge upgrade for us all. Had filet mignon wrapped in bacon not very tender and all around not a high quality piece of meat. Scampi's was dry and tough. We were asked if we wanted to seat at the table instead of the bar because they were baked up although they were only 6 people at the bar. My husband and I were super excited about trying this place out for our date night. The menu looked amazing online, but we were a bit bummed that no prices were listed, so we had no idea what to expect before we arrived. The restaurant decor and ambiance was A+. However I was a bit disappointed to find out that they didn't have a specialty cocktail menu. The waitress explained that they were "still working on it". I felt like that was a huge missed opportunity for cocktail sales. The wine list was also lacking a Cab by the glass option, which was also disappointing. I ended up deciding on a lemondrop martini, which came out so sweet and tasted just like sweet & sour and for $17 I felt was a total ripoff. For dinner my husband had the ribeye, which came out luke warm/cold to the point that the butter on top didn't even melt, which was very disappointing considering that it was the most expensive dish on the menu! My husband said it had good flavor and was cooked to his liking, but definitely wished it had come out actually hot. I had the chicken, which came out hot and was super yummy. The risotto that accompanied the chicken was fantastic. My only complaint is that I wish some sort of vegetable would've also come with it, so we wouldn't have to pay an extra $11 for a side of broccolini. We will go ahead and give this place the benefit of the doubt since they are still new and try it out again on a few months. Hopefully all the "kinks" will be worked out by then. read more
