Great place to learn both sports and self defense jiu jitsu. Omar is a great instructor and really detailed when he teaches.

My oldest daughter had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a blue belt in Hopkido. One of my biggest fears starting there was being told we needed to forget everything we already knew. To my surprise, the exact opposite happened. They showed us how to maximize everything we had been taught. They also showed us how to use what we already knew in their system. The students and staff create a positive environment to learn in. When you walk in you'll be greated with a friendly smile by Ms. Irene. She'll answer any questions you may have and introduce you to either Tashi or Renshi. They'll bring you to the mat and most likely introduce you to someone they trust to help guide you through your first class. Unlike other martial arts schools, they do not have students teaching classes. They teach all the classes. There may be other Professors or Coaches there to help, however either Tashi or Renshi will be on the mat teaching the entire time. If you've been wanting to learn martial arts either for self protection, or to compete, look no further than SUDA International Training Center! Tashi and Renshi truly love martial arts, and it shows in their teaching!

From the moment you walk in, you can feel the laid-back and friendly atmosphere they've created. What really sets this place apart is the community. Everyone -- from beginners to advanced students -- is supportive, encouraging, and there to help each other grow. You can tell the owners have put a lot of heart into building not just a dojo, but a real family. If you've ever thought about trying it out, just go. You'll feel right at home from day one.

Their assistants Debbie and Nicholas are also great and will constantly push you and give sound advice. There is a friendly family atmosphere for the most part, but these guys know when to get serious, command respect from all students, and push the physical limits of the class. Like Kristen B. noted, the first class is free for any martial art you want to try out, and you can try them all. For newbies, there's a pretty mixed crowd in the beginner and intermediate Muay Thai classes. I'd say about 35-40% of the class is female, and the age spread is very wide from age 10 to people in their 40s. Many of the advanced and intermediate level students go to the beginner classes to brush up on their basics, and it gives the new students some experienced partners to help them progress. Most of all, EVERYONE is just really chill. If there's anything that might need improvement, the gym itself could use a water fountain and an interior refresh here and there. At least they sell cold beverages and bottled water for relatively cheap. Other than that, it's a pretty good size gym with a full-size ring, weight-training area, a big class mat area, and a heavybag area. You can also order your equipment through them. Test yourself and feed that inner beast. It's great fun and being with good people makes it even more worthwhile!

I knew jiu jitsu would be the perfect sport for my five year old son. Little did I know at the time, but we had also found the perfect academy. The coaches here are excellent with the kids, teaching them discipline, skill and a love for the sport in a way that does not put too much pressure on them but allows them to individually cultivate their physical and emotional knowledge in a very healthy way. I have seen great change in my son in many positive ways, and he is always very excited for class, now attending up to four or five times a week. GBDG has become almost like a second home for him, where he has made good friends and learned much about life, even if he may not yet fully understand all he has learned. After about 7 months of his being there, I myself decided to join the team. My personal experience in training has been excellent as well. I do not have background in martial arts, but this has not overly impaired my development as the training program is very methodical, helping me slowly come to understand the inner mechanisms of jiu jitsu as opposed to just being expected to utilize brute force. Professors Carlos, Pedro, and Coaches Alex and Vince (who brings incredible energy to his work with the kids!) really live up to the Gracie Barra motto: Jiu jitsu for everybody.

BJJ is a massive part of my life, and I compete heavily on the national stage. I've dropped into and trained at tons of different academies across the country, and the gap in coaching quality is night and day. The level of detail here is on a completely different tier. They don't just show you a technique, they break down the exact micro-adjustments, weight distribution, and timing that make a move actually work when someone is trying to smash you. That coaching is the direct reason for my success. Traveling to national tournaments in New York, North Carolina, Texas, and Chicago and walking away with the win almost every single time isn't a coincidence--it's a testament to what we build on these mats every day. If you want watered-down technique, go anywhere else. But if you want real, high-level Jiu-Jitsu and coaches who are genuinely invested in making you elite, Carlson Gracie Aurora is the only choice. Forever grateful to call this place home.

My oldest teenager has been beating most adults at other area gyms since he was 14yrs old. One of the biggest differences about this gym is they do not bleed the parents wallet with belt promotions every other month like most other gyms do. I also wasn't one of those parents who dropped my kids off and just assumed they would pay attention. I always stayed, kept my kids in line and made sure they were accountable. Any time I asked for my kids to get extra details/instruction, I've always been impressed with the individual time spent. You get what you put in, like anything else.

He dedicated himself to learning the disciplines to be successful in life. He gained confidence, strength, wisdom, and determination. At AMAA, they teach principles that go past the sport of Taekwondo and into home and school life. The principles helped my son become more autonomous and to face difficulties with a greater confidence.
