I do find it a turn off that when you indicate you want a pedicure, you are given a menu of several packages, but no mention on said menu of the basic pedicure and its cost. read more

newly renovated and reopened as Four Seasons nail salon. I'm so happy that it got a much needed facelift. the pedicure chairs are brand new and so are the nail stations. The walls got a much needed paint job with light neutral colors, so it's much brighter and feels cleaner than it used to be. I'm happy to announce Ada is still with us! She did my SNS extension today and it's absolute perfection! I've never had it done so well before! It's the exact shape I was looking for and they're not bulky or lumpy and feel sturdy. I do hope that in the future they get a larger gel color selection though; I love my neon colors so I would like to have more options of those. I'm hooked for LIFE, I can't go anywhere else!! I have been coming to this nail salon for YEARS!! It's been under a few different managements but the customer service has always stayed AMAZING. Everyone that works there is super pleasant. They treat everybody like family. This place is kept very clean, comfortable and they always have some relaxing music playing to enhance your experience. Everyone there is really great at everything. My personal favorite is FANNY!!! I can never get my nails done by anyone else. Her work of expertise is indescribable. I get the SNS (Powder Gel) manicure and then the gel pedicure. I kid you not, but my manicure lasts for a "minimum" 2 weeks, every single time. WITH NO CHIPS!!! Ladies, you know what I'm talking about and how frustrating it can be. When you get your nails done and 2 days in, you are surprised with a crack or a chip. Well.... try out Fanny!! My gel pedicure lasts for a month and looks amazing with no chips as well, for the whole 30 days!! I'm not kidding. The wait time can be rather long sometimes, especially on their most busy days and times. I would highly recommend you book an appointment!! I always do. Especially if you are pressed for time. It doesn't have to be a week in advance. You can also call and make same-day appointments. Either way, it's always safer. With that being said, I absolutely love this place. I've been coming here for my mani-pedi and wax since 2012. The salon is always clean and tranquil. The staff has changed a bit over the years, but they keep the super stars around. David and Ada are my current favorite rock stars. The prices are reasonable, and the product is always glamorous. I used to go here quite frequently, my mom as well. They screwed my mom over once, making her wait two hours even though her appt was set up a week in advance. Needless to say, she gave up on them. Today, I joined her in that. My appt was at 1:30. My guy finished with his last client late, fine. I sat down and he got up to cutting my cuticles, before the previous client came to him with a "top coat" issue. He redid her entire manicure. Without so much as a word to me. Just got up and dipped for nearly half an hour. Mind you I had a very tight schedule to keep and was already stressed out. Now half an hour late, I no longer had time for a pedicure. He then did an average job on my mani, told me to pay later. Then rushed me to pay before my nails dried, leaving damn near every nail messed up. I all but ran out of there. Nails still messed up. Paid $13 plus tip for a load of crap, an awful manicure and a ruined day/weekend. And I now need to go get my nails fixed elsewhere. Not a single apology was given. read more

This place is top notch. There are a handful of nail salons in the surrounding area that I've tried but 118 is by far, the best. They take appointments but I decided to show up as they opened for some fills and a pedi. I had my nails done while I was getting my feet done. My pink and whites weren't done too well at the previous salon but David fixed them. They take their time to make sure that their services are done well and not just doing it quickly to get another person in your seat. Prices are great and the employees are nice. I wrote a "tip" on this salon, and I didn't realize until now that it was a tip...cause I wanted to update my review. In that case, I'll review now: I've been back religiously. The salon has been there for years - who knows how many - and the place is CLEAN. If you walk into a nail salon and there's goops of glue strung all over the counters, spilled polish stains, and piles acrylic stuck on the tables, then you're in the wrong place. Their marble table tops are spotless, and the chairs are comfortable and new. Nothing in the salon is broken, and if it is they either fix it or replace it diligently. My most favorite thing about them though, is that they actually use STERILE tools from a brand new pack that gets peeled open in front of you. As far as the employees and their competencies: Sue is the manager (if not owner) and is truly an artist, so I'm almost always disappointed if I don't book an appointment with her. But if I'm in a hurry, I still get a great product from anyone else. I'm sure there will be manicurists that not everyone prefers, and there *is* someone that I usually like to stay away from, but I speak up & ask to have a certain person do it. If I'm going to be particular, I know I'm most likely going to have to wait so I plan for it. My second favorite to the sterile cleanliness is the fact that they have a POINT SYSTEM. They were painted fine but not as well as you would expect from a nail salon. It all seemed very rushed. When a different person was assigned to do my French manicure the mediocrity continued. My nails were sharp at the edges and the white strip was uneven thicker on one end than the other, very lopsided for 4/10 nails. Their nail polish was very gloopy and she was getting visibly frustrated but continued with the same polish anyway and that's probably why they turned out the way they did. So Sunday rainy afternoon, I took a chance for the mere fact I didn't want to walk in the rain to go another nail salon. They took immediately. And I know why, hardly people came in . As The technician started my pedicure, I began my review . I don't like to stare and complain at people . That seems more than a comfortably situation. However do people think just because you're not starting at them that they outta just whatever kind of job . I swear I will never return here. Do they have a rating lower than one . I genuinely scared for my health. I didn't see them take any of the utilities from the sterilization tool ( oven thing) . My pedicure was was literally ten minutes and I was more than frustrated. Really wanted to give this place at least 3 stars, but I honestly left feeling rather dirty. In COVID times, I really feel like cleanliness more than ever has to be a top priority, and I felt like this was not on the radar at all. No hand sanitizing occurred even once, and the UV slot looked and also felt dirty. At least twice during my gel manicure, I had to actually remove my hands from the light box because my fingers felt overheated, to the point where they felt like they were on fire. Other nail salons have very strict disinfecting protocols, and I watched my manicurist clean the cuticle cutters with the same hand towel she used on my hands. Updating this review...So I continued to come to this place because well, it's cheap. But you get what you pay for! The first week of August I got a manicure and a pedicure. The woman who did my feet was lovely, very nice. The guy who did my nails seemed agitated and in a hurry, not friendly, didn't listen to me about the length and cut all my nails off! That's not even the worst part. Over the course of a week my feet were peeling, I've never experienced it before and it seemed to be nonstop. By week two both of my feet had severe dry skin, it was so bad my feet were literally flaking off. About month later my feet were in the worst condition they've ever been in in my entire life (mind you, I'm an athlete). I finally went to a dermatologist and she told me that I had a foot fungus. Most likely from a nail salon! I'm writing this review on November 29th, I got a pedicure the first week of August (2023) and I'm still treating the fungus! That's how bad it is! I haven't been able to get another pedicure or anything because of the condition of my feet. The pictures are just too disgusting to post. If you do decide to come here, it's at your on risk! I thought the purpose of appointments were to ensure that a task was going to be completed at a scheduled time that both parties agreed to. Soooooo 1 year ago I was recommended this nail salon I went and I had a great experience. After my third time there they messed up my nail and refuse to fix it or compensate for money back. I only do sns and this type of nail prodecure usually last for 3 weeks. After the 1st week of doing my nails the color started to chip and lift in the edges. I refused to go back there . Recently I moved into the area close to the store and decided to try them again one more time and again I was disappointed with the service and how my nails came out I expressed my unhappiness and again they refused to fix my nails. This is by far the best place to get your nails done in Kew Gardens! Besides the price being right ($25 for a mani/pedi/$19 for a mani/pedi Mon-Wed), the salon is very neat and clean. They even use sterilized tools on everyone without an extra charge (they open the pouch right in front of you)...something I never see. The staff is friendly, prompt, and does a great job. I usually try to ask for Lina if she is in...she's so sweet! All my manicures from anywhere else in Queens and even Manhattan chip within a day, but when I get my nails done here, I don't see a chip for almost a week! I'm not sure what they are doing (I never get gel or shellac) but it's definitely working. And if you have a chip too soon, pop back in and they will fix it for you, no questions asked. Ladies and gents out there in Yelpland, I think I've found my new nail salon. After a really bad experience with my former nail salon a couple months ago, I was traumatized. I did a lot of research, trying to find the next nail salon that would give me a less stressful experience (and that I wouldn't mind giving my hard earned cash to). This morning, I came across the reviews for this place. So, off I went. Immediately as I went inside, I was greeted by someone, and the atmosphere is nice and quiet, which I loved and so desperately needed. I did a gel mani and regular pedi which totaled to $40, and their gel manis are cheaper than most places. Score! Everyone there is friendly and EVERYTHING IS STERILIZED, which is a super plus for me! To be honest, you don't even feel like you're on Metropolitan Ave. You feel like you're in another world. The girl that I had took her time, didn't rush me out the door, and she gave me the most AWESOME massage as my hands were under the UV light. Not to mention, she gave my feet a really good scrub. If you can scrub my feet well AND give an awesome massage, there will always be a special place in my heart for you. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. This salon stands out for it's commitment to excellent hygiene and service. Also there were security cameras. I've never seen that in other salons.
