A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Hightstown 12 Farms is a true treasure--every dish bursts with flavor, crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients that celebrate the season. The food is nothing short of phenomenal, with exceptional taste woven into every bite. Whether you're savoring a salad or indulging in a hearty entrée, you can feel the care, creativity, and connection to the land. A must-visit for anyone who values quality, sustainability, and unforgettable flavor.

It was the Saturday before Easter, a beautiful, sunny spring day, so we decided to take the Corvette to the Tulip Festival in Upper Freehold, NJ. We weren't the only ones with that idea, as an extra 25,000 people seemed to have the same plan! Arriving at the gate, after finding free parking, we were told they had reached capacity. Rats! It looked like a fantastic sight - tulips in every color imaginable stretching as far as you could see, along with food trucks and a charming windmill. I even chatted with two ladies who were close friends with the Dutch owners, flown in to help with the event. Disappointed but undeterred, we hopped back in the Corvette, put the top down, and enjoyed the drive. My wife, Jeanne, discovered a small restaurant in Hightstown, NJ, called 12 Farms Restaurant. It was 20 minutes away and off we went. Public parking was plentiful, and we entered the over 150-year-old building, immediately enveloped by its rich history and the delightful aroma of good food. Our waitress, Quinn (the same name as my granddaughter!), greeted us warmly and described the specials. My wife quickly chose the lobster mac-n-cheese, while I perused the extensive menu. They don't serve alcohol, so we both opted for their delicious peach iced tea. 12 Farms prides itself on sourcing high-quality ingredients, including grass-fed beef, fresh seafood, and local produce from family-run farms like their own farmette, Little Big Acres in Millstone, NJ. Their aim is to offer diverse and creative menus catering to various dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. The menu was indeed impressive, a great mix of gluten-free, vegetarian, and protein dishes. Options like the Jersey Tomato Panini and the Acho Chili Braised shredded chicken sounded wonderful. After much deliberation and another refreshing peach iced tea, I decided on the OG burger: a Wagyu beef burger with thick bacon, local cheddar, and onion jam. While we waited, enjoying the view of Hightstown's bustling main street, a fresh greens salad arrived - a bright and tasty sweet and sour mix with pine nuts, thinly sliced turnips and cucumber, and a flavorful vinaigrette. The edible orange slice was a lovely touch. Soon after, our entrees arrived. The Lobster Mac-n-Cheese was a generous bowl of large macaroni with plenty of lobster chunks and a creamy three-cheese sauce topped with greens. My wife clearly loved it. My OG burger was substantial, topped with cheese, thick bacon, and their house-onion made jam, accompanied by seven small home fries and more greens. Large burgers can often suffer from a soggy bottom bun, but I decided to eat the flavorful Wagyu beef, onion jam, and pickled jalapenos separately, thoroughly enjoying the delicious combination. Completely full, we skipped dessert. It's worth noting that 12 Farms is a cash-only establishment. Overall, I give 12 Farms a 4 out of 5. We definitely plan to return and explore more of their enticing menu.

We have passed this place 100 times and finally made it in, and I'm so glad we did. The staff is very friendly from the start to finish. All the food is farm to table and beyond fresh ingredients. The menu has so many different delicious options it makes it hard to choose just one. But we did start with the blueberry scone, which was beyond fresh and delicious. We then got a complementary salad. It was so fresh. You can taste that it was probably pulled out this morning from earth. We then got the avocado toast, which was a special that morning, and it was out of this world. It was on top of a focaccia sourdough that was so good and as odd as this sounds, there was bacon with the avocado on top. Delicious! We also shared the wild board Benedict. We've never had anything like it and it was magnificent. We did actually return for a lunch the other day where we shared a chicken sandwich that was also out of this world and a crab special sandwich that was dreamy. All in all this place is a new favorite and not too far from home. Very happy to have found it. The staff has been warm and welcoming each time we come . This place is a must try at least once if you're passing through.

A perfect date night for New Year's Eve! They opened specially for the holiday and had lots of gluten free options. It was our first time eating here and loved the experience! I had sweet potato latkes, the mezz platter with gf bread (freshly made on-site), the duck confit with grits for the entree and chocolate truffles with liqueur for dessert. Best grits I ever had. My husband had the halibut and couldn't stop raving about it. Everything was special and amazing! Our server, Z was the best. Will definitely come back again! BYOB

Farm to table, BYOB, it was a very unique restaurant. Our waiter was really nice, and I was really impressed by each of the dishes. The mac & cheese was amazing. I don't even like pumpkin, but the maple scone was really good and the cream that comes with it is vanilla bean whipped cream. Everything was so beautifully plated and set up as well, overall it was really good.

    Is the Farm BYOB?

Yes. Bring your own booze. Server happily accommodated us and opened for us.

    Do they have outdoor dining?

There are a handful of sidewalk tables, best for brunch IMO. Adding that no, there is not a "full blown" outdoor eating area.

Is this a kid friendly restaurant?

Yes, it can accommodate kids. However, the food is a bit more for sophisticated tastes.

While you can get a burger and a sandwich their specialty is certainly a prixe fixe menu ($41 at the time of this writing) that features a well-prepared array of steak, seafood and pasta inclusive of a soup or salad and dessert. I enjoyed a very flavorful mushroom bisque and a very generous seafood fra diavolo which was both bracing and fresh. The only demerit is for the service which, while game and courteous, was glacial in the extreme -- undone by understaffing given the number of large parties that were present. I'll certainly be back but perhaps not on a Saturday. Four solid stars.

There is all your usual stuff that you'd expect to find at any diner. From your sandwiches, omelettes, crepes, typical deserts such as cake and pie, to just about anything else you'd expect to find on a menu for a diner. The service was overall fine but nothing super special but it still is a decent diner to go to for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is better to go around dinner time because then they give you complimentary garlic knots which are delicious. And the televisions they have around the diner are also nice to watch too so you don't feel bored. The only major criticisms I have is that there are times when there are tables that are still very dirty rather its from dirty dishes or too much dust lying around the diner. Another criticism is that the deserts maybe dry from sitting in the fridge too long which is disappointing because they look delicious. The final criticism is that it can be noisy too inside when its always busy. But that is expected as that happens anywhere. In the end, its a solid diner to go to. But it's not the best diner out there as there are plenty other better options for food and to hang out.

The main issue isn't them being together but more just the flavor as they're kind of bland and so is the gravy. The coleslaw is average but needs more flavor too. Finally, the rolls are below average as they aren't freshly baked. They're more like a discount version of Hawaiian sweet rolls. Absolutely incredible wings here, they're the 1%er of wings. It's not a debate. I see a few complaining about small wings lol. 1. If you're just hungry for chicken go do that, small wings are a way to maximize flavor and that's what Anthony's accomplishes in these perfectly cooked, crisp, flavor packed hot and extra hot (my personal reco but not for faint of heart) wing 2. They have jumbo wings for you non wing knowing hungry eaters that don't get it, so order that before complaining, you're just getting an inferior wing but can enjoy their incredible sauces that way Sorry, I'm a wing snob and I'm riled up at poor reviews from non wing knowers, who are the reason why we as a country are losing ground on good Buffalo wings. They're going extinct because of viewpoints like some of what I see on here. Go to KFC if you're gonna hate, don't bring a good business down (also please note I'm being jestful in tone if you can't parse through, but I'm also serious). Second - really great other options including Buffalo tenders, cheesesteaks are great, some fish options (Buffalo shrimp of course!). But again, for true wing enthusiasts, this is my WING OF THE YEAR for 2023 and beyond. Also very friendly customer service there, clearly good people. Comfortable vibe inside, kind of diner type feel, the right feel for a true wing spot. Clean bathrooms.
