Chambers Walk has been in Lawrence a long time and I've used them for catering at home and at work, a baby shower, and casual dinners with friends. They're accommodating and make it so easy to use them for catering. This past weekend, my husband and I went for dinner- we had bolognese sauce, crab cakes, Caesar salad and a wonderful potato soup. I think their food has gotten even better. The hint of lemon in the Caesar salad was perfect and let you know it was made in the restaurant and not from a bottle. Pros- large parking lot out back. I liked having seating my the large window at the front- lots of natural light. Our server was pleasant but a bit biased as she said everything on the menu was great( not the case). The chefs created an amazing shrimp appetizer........it was a line of shrimp with these divine mashed potatoes underneath it.......it was pure art how they plated it. Such a cute little restaurant tucked away on Main St in Lawrenceville near the Fire Station. Was there for a surprise birthday party. The staff did such an amazing job, they were on point, attentive & the bar tender from Poland was great, I'm not sure how to spell his name, but how many Polish bar tenders can they have? The appetizers tasted and looked terrific, from their beautifully laid out crudités, to shrimp screwers & crab cakes to name a few. They served a great field green salad with feta, they had chicken Marsala, mixed vegetables, a wonderful filet, with green beans & mashed potatoes that were all delicious. Dessert had an array of cakes, cookies & cannolis which were decadent. I am not a dessert eater but they had a shortbread cookie that had a caramel topping with chocolate & nuts which I think was the best cookie I've ever tasted. I ate two! I wish I had taken one for the road!!! Although this place isn't very close to me, I'd definitely use them if I need a caterer & I will definitely go for lunch or dinner if I'm out this way. I was visiting the area for the Night Forma exhibits at Grounds For Sculpture and spent the day browsing the surrounding area's antique shops. One of the store owners recommend this restaurant for lunch. It had a relaxing atmosphere, and was fairly large inside. For such a small town, there seemed to be a constant flow of customers. The menu had variety and the type of foods my mom and I enjoy (soups, salads, sandwich, pasta). our server was excellent; he had a familiar accent which, after inquiring, we found out was Polish. My mom's side of the family is Polish so that was a pleasant surprise that added to our experience. We enjoyed our visit so much, we stopped back 5e next day to get lunch before heading home! I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and mom got the Vodka Rigatoni. We also got to try the soup of the day, which was a Manhattan clam chowder. I only had a a bit since I'm sensitive to tomatoes but it was excellent and really different not to drink all of the broth! Lots of pieces of clam and potato, very flavorful. My wrap was great, a large portion of chicken and it came with the side of the day (pasta salad one day and potato salad the next). Both sides were simple and tasty. My mom really enjoyed her large portion of pasta. It was cooked perfectly. We had actually gotten dresser first at the Gingered Peach, around the corner but hopefully can try a dessert here next time we are in the area. read more

Amazing meal at Chambers Walk!! My wife and I went for our anniversary and we were so impressed by the quality of the food, the service, and the feel of the restaurant. Everything was outstanding. I began with a butternut squash and sweet potato soup (a special) that was delicious. Next I really enjoyed the pan-seared salmon with mashed potatoes -- to my surprise, it was topped with several shrimp in a yummy sauce! My wife ordered the field greens salad and a ribeye steak...she said both were excellent. The service was terrific AND the portions were very generous. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! Several of us had lunch here today. For many, it was their first time. Everyone could not get over the quality of food and service! Both were outstanding. Since we were in the neighborhood we stopped into this little place. So glad we did. Husband Had the rigatoni with tomato sauce and hanger steak. While this is on the "light" fare, It was more than enough food for dinner. The tomato sauce had a depth of flavor that came from simmering all day. The hanger steak was deliciously tender. I had the half order of Paella. The seafood was delicious and plentiful, the chicken absolutely fork tender, and the sausage was amazing. The sauce that it was in was excellent and the rice cooked perfectly. The half order was more than enough for dinner. We used Chambers Walk to cater a baby shower for twin. Not only does there food taste great and their presentation look beautiful but it is all made from scratch. No pre-made food is ever bought for an event. Jordana made sure everything was perfect. She even goes out of her way to make sure all tables were cleared when people were finished eating and she made sure any leftovers were packaged and put away for us to eat later. I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded. The cafe has a very small intimate vibe to it. I know it is pretty famous for its desserts and for receptions to be held so I was relieved that it wasn't closed for a private party. The waiter was IMPECCABLE. He was very kind and super quick. He explained everything on the menu for me that I had questions about and did it all with a smile. The food was AMAZING and the portion sizes are great. I ordered the lunch special: Chicken and Seafood Gumbo Soup (came with a piece of bread), and an entree: Ricotta Gnocchi pasta dish, and for dessert, I had a Pecan Tarte. Went there for a nice night out with girlfriends. Restaurant was pretty hot with there seeming to be no AC on, but in fairness it was also quite hot out. Food came out hot and was pretty good (though however delicious is was chicken and rice dish was pretty pricey at $32). We asked what time closing was and if it was okay for us to stay at the table for a bit to catch up as we hadn't seen each other for a while. We are told 9:00 and no rush (which was true as only a few tables with customers). They must have changed their minds as we were starting to get rushed out when lights were being turned off and chairs put on the top of tables around 8:20. At 8:35 we were told they were closing up. You hear a lot about supporting local business and we tried but super frustrating to be made to leave 25 minutes before closing time -- a time they told us we had until. 8:35 closing for a restaurant seems VERY early and not great for business. Not sure we will going back there anytime soon. read more

Just had one of the best lunches in a very long time. Homemade chicken soup to start followed by braised beef tacos. Outstanding. The food and service is always consistently very good. Everything is homemade and fresh. Ive been a customer for over 15 years and Mario and his team are amazing. If you are in the Lawrenceville area, this is a must stop for lunch or dinner, as well as their catering. Great location just across the street from the Lawrenceville Prep School. Just had an expensive, wasted evening at Chambers Walk. We were formerly regulars - but never again. Extremely disappointing - a table of drinking and outrageously loud "ladies" ruined the evening for the entire restaurant. Normally, the restaurant can be loud. Tonight, these partiers made it as loud as a rock concert. No class. We asked the manager (possibly the owner?) to intervene and he said he would. But, he waited about an hour and, only then, meekly asked one of them to be quiet. Then, 2 minutes later he opened another bottle of wine for them. That's thinking.....give the loud drinkers more booze. That'll quiet them down. They stayed loud - yet he never came back again to ask them to tone it down. Spineless. We asked to change tables - but the manager/owner said "Where would I seat you?". But, he had tables that remained open the entire evening. As you scanned the room - you could see that everyone in the restaurant was uncomfortable and several were gesturing and throwing dirty looks at the party crowd. We ran into old family friends there and they were also outraged and asked "why is that table so loud....what are they celebrating?" The gentleman in charge seemed very weak. Even though he was the host for all of us, he can't seem to control his restaurant and ensure the few don't ruin the evening for the many. Restaurant Management 101 is to create an enjoyable environment for all. Seemed he was too chicken to intervene. After we paid and were leaving - we ran into him outside and he said he "was going to" comp us for dinner. (That's a pretty lame gesture - offering to pay for a meal that we already bought. Where was he throughout the entire evening when the only noise you heard was the screaming and clapping of the drinking table?) We were formerly regulars - but won't ever go again. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's loud at the best of times. Tonight - it was like sitting on an airport tarmac. And, we sat next to the table with no class. Another late après Court lunch found me in Lawrenceville, New Jersey searching for someplace to vanquish my hunger. There is something about a nice victory to bring my appetite up to full flame. I wasn't looking for Chambers Walk Café, but after turning left off Rt. 206 North, and finding myself in their parking lot, I let kismet guide me to their side door entrance and into the cool dimness of their chambers. I saw a nice size room, with windows facing the street, and lots of wood and brick. Small number of tables with September afternoon diners. Before seating myself, I had to go to the register to peruse the menu and daily specials, order and pay for my meal. Ok. That was different, but acceptable. I ordered a Tarragon Chicken Salad Sandwich on a French Baguette, and a Boylan's Black Cherry (love 'em). I found a deuce in a corner by the window and retreated there to await my delivery. It arrived in the hands of a Russian-sounding manager-looking man in black and white. Before the sandwich arrived, I was given a complementary bowl of Chicken Gumbo Soup. It was very good with chunky veggies and nicely cut white meat chicken. He did not explain if it was standard practice to complete the meal for customers, and I did not ask, preferring to allow the experience to just flow to me. The sandwich arrived a few minutes later on a large plate with Baked Potato Wedges on the side. I love French Baguettes and most other things Patisserie. The loaf was fresh and had a nice bite, although the crust was not quite right. I did not care. It was still very good. The Chicken rested on a bed of Romaine and Jersey Tomato. Totally enjoyable. The one slight detraction was that the meal came with a Coke rather than the Black Cherry Boylan's I anticipated. I did not feel like requesting the change, and there was something about the entire experience since blindly finding this place that kept me passive and accepting of what was presented as my meal. I had not had a Coke in a very long time. This one tasted good, and it brought back the recollection of the slightly addictive quality of this masterful drink. I sat a few minutes after finishing, reading The Times online and staring out the window as the surprising heat of the day created heat waves on the black top. The room was quiet with only a low murmur of work and conversation. Contentment filled me for the moment. On the way out, the same server approached and offered me a large Peanut Butter Cookie as a free desert. This was becoming an embarrassment of good fortune, but I gladly accepted the offer, thinking these guys were outdoing themselves to bring me back. Friends, you had me with the Baguette. I would have returned without the Soup and Cookie, but they certainly were a fun and unexpected pleasure. read more

Very disappointed in my meal I ordered, Griggstown chicken marsala. I've eaten at Chambers a few times each year and always enjoyed my meals. Not sure what happened on Friday but my dish came out steaming hot and had to let it cool down. The marsala sauce soaked into the mashed potatoes and had to order more sauce. Extra sauce didn't help with the dry meat. chicken was dry and rubbery. I should have sent back but my wife would have eaten alone for awhile. The waitress should never have brought my meal out that hot. Disappointing meal and no response from kitchen or chef! read more

I have been here a few times, only for lunch. I usually get a salad, and find that the greens and other veggies are always fresh and the dressings delicious. You should know that for lunch, you order when you come in. The table service involves folks bringing your food to you once you've ordered and paid. The challenge here is that if something is mixed up with your order, you need to go back up and talk with someone. Each time I've been there for lunch something's been mixed up -- now, having said that, they've also rectified the situation immediately and with a wonderful, positive attitude. I'd very much like to try this place for dinner in the hopes of then updating my review to four stars. So far, I think it's a neat place, but am not quite at the place of raving about it like my fellow reviewers. read more

So happy to have found Chambers Walk! Met a friend for lunch at her suggestion. We both had the Daily Special Salad with grilled chicken...romaine, perfectly grilled chicken, cherry tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, blue cheese, carrots in a light balsamic dressing. So delicious! She enjoyed her ginger lemonade & I had iced tea with lemon and mint. We finished lunch off by sharing a huge oatmeal cookie that was fabulous. We hadn't seen each other in several years, so we sat there uninterrupted for 2 1/2 hours. Enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to start meeting at Chambers Walk every month for lunch! Love this restaurant. The food is delicious! Been here several times and every time I chose something different and enjoyed my meal. Actually, I think I was only here for lunch before. Tonight I had specials: mint cucumber soup and braised beef boneless short ribs. Both were so tasty and excellent. The cold soup was particularly good for a hot day. The braised short ribs were soft and juicy, not dry, in some sort of yummy wine sauce I think. The string beans that came with the braised beef were especially good--tasted so fresh and not crunchy but not overdone. I took home half my meal so that I could have room for dessert. I had the panna cotta and it didn't disappoint. The only thing I don't understand is why they put powdered sugar on top--that was really gilding the lily as the caramelized topping was already enough sugar. My husband had the grilled mahi-mahi sandwich with fries--also a big portion, and he really enjoyed it. And he had the chicken tortilla soup which I tasted--very good!--not too spicy (but more than no spice). Also--the ambiance was very relaxing and pleasant, without the usual-for-these-days loud music, and the people working there are so, so nice. I think the review below faulting them for one night having a loud table of drinkers is really unfair--some people are just rude and uncouth and it's hard for anyone including a restaurant manager to "control" them. It can get a bit loud and the menu is kind of meh/standard, i.e., not a lot of bold choices, at least the catering menue But yeah, the food is way-better-than-average, the prices are fair and yes, I would recommend.
