Chicken Holiday was almost always as good as KFC. Their chicken is delicious and flavorful, fries are fantastic and crispy, and there are plenty of other options you can choose from to eat with your delicious chicken. The service is overall good and ambiance is fine as it's in a quiet and safe suburban neighborhood. There is plenty of seating and the prices overall aren't bad at all. When it comes to complaints though they're really only minor complaints. The mashed potatoes and gravy could be a bit better as they're mixed together automatically rather than being separated. The main issue isn't them being together but more just the flavor as they're kind of bland and so is the gravy. The coleslaw is average but needs more flavor too. Finally, the rolls are below average as they aren't freshly baked. They're more like a discount version of Hawaiian sweet rolls. Even warmed up or toasted, they have a slightly weird after taste and aren't as good as freshly baked biscuits. In the end, I would still go to Chicken Holiday for a quick bite or a decent catering meal. They give good portions and have a good selection of food to choose from. Check them out whenever you're in or near East Windsor. read more

Walking in it smells so good. We got the fried chicken 4 piece dinner. Took a few minutes to cook but worth the wait. We ate inside where they have pizza shop type tables and bathrooms. Bathrooms super clean. Food was really good. I'm looking forward to trying other offerings like chicken fingers or wings. read more

Chicken Holiday offers great fried chicken. We recently ordered the family pack, which was 24 pieces of chicken, Family Size French Fries, 2lb of macaroni salad, and rolls. The chicken was a solid fried chicken offering, all 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) of us devoured it. The French fries were a bit soggy, perhaps they ended up that way in transit, since this was a to-go order. None of us were fans of the Macaroni Salad; it just had too much mayo. This is comfort food. Not greasy and crunchy, moist delicious chicken..let's not forget their fish n chips, bbq ribs, fried shrimp. Chicken wings. Now as a Jersey girl never really seen one of these outside of Jersey. So I'm guessing it's our comfort food. I was craving crunchy fried chicken and mashed with lots of gravy. This location has an extensive menu, albeit mostly fried. But chicken holiday is no ordinary chicken place..why? U ask..they dont deep fry, so no grease. You do get many dinner options for family and friends. Like "buckets" 8 piece, 16, 24 plus some come with ribs or fried shrimp and theirs even a fish n chip bucket. Guys behind counter are friendly and courteous. This place does helluva take out orders. So call ahead or just walk in but be prepared to wait bc if u come in after a take out order you're gonna wait awhile for your food. But so worth it in the long run. They also have sandwiches if that's your thing and those darn fried clam strips..lol This chicken is even awesome cold..seriously. I had received a tip that the Chicken Holiday chain was worth a visit for some great fried chicken recently. So I tried a different eat location and was disappointed. I gave it a second try and given the disappointment a second time, I was going to swear off all Chicken Holidays thinking they were all the same. Boy was I wrong to think that way. This location of Chicken Holiday is definitely better. I placed my order in advance and arrived 5 mins before closing. Timing wise, it was kinda close given that waze wanted me to make this sharp left going north on 130. Needless to say I missed the turn, which in the darkness, it's really easy to miss the turn. The Chicken Holiday sign is dimly lit and the building itself is turned sideways off 130 so it's really easy to miss. Driving up to the restaurant parking lot, I wondered if I made a poor decision. The restaurant was clean and well lit but it seemed dated from the outside. I was greeted warmly upon entering the restaurant and the cook behind the counter and told me the food would be ready shortly. Striking up a conversation with the cook and one other employee, I came to know that Chicken Holidays are all independently owned and operated which made me feel better about the decision to order food here knowing this location is owned by a different owner. Once I had a chance to try the chicken, it's clearly better than the other location I tried. The chicken was perfectly fried, golden brown skin, juicy interior that was NOT over cooked. The chicken was lightly salted and tasty good. I would prefer perhaps some spice on the chicken but for the price point, Chicken Holiday is really unmatched. If I had a choice I'd do 3.5 stars but I bumped it up for the warm service and the low price point. Overall I liked the chicken here and would most likely come back when I need a fried chicken fix. read more

I grew up in East Windsor, but have moved to other areas for periods of time, but i currently live back in the area and the one thing i truly missed about where i grew up when i was living elsewhere, is Chicken Holiday. They do have a location in Hamilton, but it's not the same as the East Windsor location. I'll be 38 this summer, and i don't believe the decor inside my local Chicken Holiday has changed once since i was a kid except for the photos of the owners family growing because of weddings and grandchildren etc. Someone else described the place as "hole-in-the-wall and i can't disagree. But i can also agree that you won't be disappointed. Their fried chicken is the most delicious, perfectly crispy and crunchy, big jumbo pieces, always piping hot and bursting with flavor. My fav part is that delicious crunchy skin on the outside. A close second are their buffalo wings. Big, juicy wings, soaked in buffalo or BBQ. And the best side on the menu, Growing up i called them "corn fritters" and still do, but on the menu they are corn nuggets" are fantastic. Imagine a golden fried spoonful of creamed corn! it's epic to say the least. I always get my chicken snack dinners with an order of the corn nuggets and a small side of mash and gravy. After you've polished off that delicious crispy skin on your chicken, you've got yourself some hot and creamy potatoes to rip big chunks of your friend chicken off and dip in those tatoes if you've got any room left when your done with this epically comforting meal, try to apple fritters! think apple pie filling fried and doused in cinnamon sugar. And if you can't tell yet, I highly recommend Chicken Holiday (of East Windsor) for their amazing comfort food and the best fried chicken i've ever had. Honestly this used to our favorite dinner and we went once a month. They have this item on the menu called corn fritters which are like a little slice of heaven. The issue then you ask? The last four times we went there, the were either out of corn fritters or did not have the amount we wanted. Sorry but I bet many people love the corn fritters and it's why they come to you. You know this place is good because it looks like they haven't updated it since 1963. The food is so good! You can tell they use quality ingredients and fresh oil at just the right temp for frying. Buyer beware!! Yesterday we had guests from out of town and ordered 28 pieces, supposedly equal numbers of wings, breasts, thighs and legs. When the guests arrived and we opened the $60.75 tray we found: 1 wing 2 breasts 12 legs 13 thighs Of course, the guests kept looking for the white meat. Except for one, who likes wings. I travel kinda frequently for work, and was trying to find something to be delivered to my hotel that would be on the cheaper side without being a fast-food chain. Some light scrolling in Door Dash's app brought me to Chicken Holiday, and the name itself brought me a smile. Went for the buffalo chicken fingers, 5 count, and asked for the sauce on the side. Now, I believe Frank's Red Hot to be the golden standard of buffalo sauces. So when I saw the to-go ramekin filled with that darker hot sauce that looks like it has ground spices mixed in with it, I was immediately disappointed. But, like I always say, "Drew you're an idiot." The sauce is one of the best, if not THE best, tasting sauces I've had that wasn't just a pure Frank's or similar kinda sauce. It was unique too. If you want serious spice in your sauce this would not do it, but the flavor, man, THE FLAVOR... The chicken itself was perfect too. It was crispy and cooked well, AND, they technically put like 7 in there since a few were smaller; I have definitely been places where that is not the case.
