What a pleasant experience when you walk in and smell that smoke from the BBQ cooking. After my first choice was closed, I remembered this restaurant and stopped in for lunch to go. I ordered a jumbo pork sandwich with slaw and pickles on the sandwich, a side of sliced smoked turkey, and a medium potato salad. Everything was very good. 13th Street BBQ has been a favor of mine since I started working a block away from , next to the post office in Phenix City Alabama , and my absolute favorite thing to get from there is their pork chop sandwich . You get two pork cutlets , almost an inch thick each , on a large bun slathered with barbecue sauce, and onions . I'm a pretty big guy , but that one sandwich is more than enough of a meal for myself , especially when you add in their sweet tea , always hits the spot . I don't believe I've ever had a bad experience with 13th Street Barbecue . I have tried for days to get a gift card from this place In Cataula Georgia. They first say they are locked up and manager has a key. So can't help me. Call the next day and they still don't help me. No gift cards. Tried to call and the so called manager couldn't help me either and would not recommend a solution for me at all and then rudely hung up. I do not recommend this place because of their rudeness which also makes me question the place period. they say buy locally but yet this place doesn't want business. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I will never go back and shop local there. I highly suggest you go to the many other barbecue places we have. I wonder if the owner knows they are refusing business and if he even cares. read more

The first couple times I went to the one in Cataula were awful so I stayed away. I've been there several times in the past month and was pleasantly surprised. The food is good and reasonably priced. I always look for good bbq shops while visiting family down here. Saw this place a few times in passing and wanted to stop, finally did and oh man was it worth the stop. Quick service, friendly staff, clean shop. And the chipped sandwich special with a sweet tea was to die for!! Meat melted in your mouth, sauce was great and the sweet tea hit the spot. Love this place. Quick, Easy and DELICIOUS. One of my favorite places to meet friends for lunch. On our really busy days we will call in and get a whole sack full of the chipped sandwiches (all the way of course). They are the best piping hot but if life gets in the way they are a great snack right out of the fridge. And my boys would much rather have them in their lunchbox when they can.
