Ok so I was going to give this place 3 stairs because within 2 days of getting my nails down the Japanese gel nails half came off on my pinky nail. Which rarely ever happens since it's the least used finger!!! However it's one week late and another finger half came off?! WTH.. I paid a premium to get these nails down and they are literally dying faster than cheap gel nails?! I don't get it. So the good thing is they have a 2 week warranty to come in and fix it. But thing is I've already come in! Do I come back again to fix my nails ?! This place has good customer service but overall so expensive and overpriced for the quality. Which is shit quality. From chatting with the girls this place has been open for a few months. It's predominately Chinese workers and clientele. They don't really speak English but mostly Chinese. My Japanese gel nails cost like $45 with an extra $10 because I wanted the "chrome/ mermaid glisten" no design no nothing. Which I find so ridiculous now that I think of it! This was way too expensive for it to break on me so fast. Avoid this place if u can! read more

My mom wanted to have a mom-daughter nails session for our birthday month, so I booked an appointment with 1517 Nails after looking through the reviews here. I wasn't disappointed with our experience here! Booking an appointment was really easy using Yelp's appointment request system as they respond quickly. Neither my mom nor I have ever gone to a salon to get our nails done, but the process was easy since the staff were helpful and friendly! I found their prices very reasonable especially for the care taken with not just the design, but to openly check in on how we felt about the progress. They speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese (but mostly the Chinese languages). We both requested gel manicures. Mine was done by Joy. I showed her a few pictures of what I liked, and she was able to design that on my nails. She was very responsive in adjusting the design during the process and checking with me if I liked it. For my mom, I didn't catch the name of the girl who worked with her, but since my mom's nails are naturally really short, we had it extended using fake gel nails (?) at the tips before proceeding with design. The salon staff were so sweet and even stayed after-hours to make sure my mom's nails were done with care and to her liking, which took longer since my mom was excited and nervous and didn't know for sure what she wanted for a design. They use a lot of Japanese products and polishes. Also, the salon doesn't smell like nail polish or other chemicals - it smells really nice, like a light scent of bubble gum. Plus the decor is really cute, so many couches and cushions everywhere, you can take a lot of cute photos here! I enjoyed our experience and am happy that my mom liked it too, and would love to come back again when I'm in the area! Also wanted to add, my mom accidentally broke a nail while working in her company's warehouse and came back here, and the girl re-did the broken nail for free. I've been to a lot of nail salons in town, but 1517 Nail is by far the best. The girl who did my nails is very careful in every little detail and the results came out better I could of ever imagined. They really do care about the conditions and health of your nail and give you options for each nail type. Not only that, THE DESIGNS ARE JUST SOOO FREAKING PRETTY!! IM OBSSESSED!! Everyone there is super friendly, they really do make the experience so much more enjoyable. I came in late on mothers day but the nail tech and the owner stayed 2 hours pass their close time just to make sure I feel happy walking out with my nails, such nice group of girls and they really do care about their customers. I am so thrilled that I finally found my favorite 3D nail design spa. It's located in the rite aid plaza at the street corner of Colima and Nogales. This place is clean and the products they use are organic. There was absolutely No "nail salon smell" when I walked in, which is a big deal for me because those kinds of smell give me headaches. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly, and my nail artist is experienced and skillful. The work I had done here is one of the most satisfying one, I would highly recommend my friends who love nail arts as much as me to come here. And most importantly they are very reasonably priced. 1517 has the cutest color selection ever! I love that they offer Japanese brand gels. I personally think they stay on longer than your typical opi, dnd, gelish, etc. All the girls are really nice and helpful. I go to Chris, super sweet and talented. I love her because she honestly takes her time and makes sure that my nail is perfect every time! She cleans my nails and cuticles so well and the paint is always super neat! Visited this gem a few weeks back and they kindly accepted my late reservation request, which I appreciated so much! This nail shop is the cutest with the sweetest nail technicians ran by all females -- love it. The nail technicians are all really talented. I'm so glad to have found a go-to nail place around this area! I had a gel manicure and the girl who was helping me really took her time to make sure my nails would be nice & healthy. She was also so fun to talk to along with the other girls. You can easily make appointments through Yelp and they respond real quick. They offer regular and Japanese gel nail services. I decided to try this place for the first time. I went on Saturday night and the store was empty. I was the only customer there. The lady who did my nail was rude. She didn't really touch up my nails a lot like other nail places. Once she start cutting my nails, she never bothered to see both of my nails if the nails were same length. Now i have a long pinky nail and a short one lol. I wanted pink color gradation for the design and I showed her the picture, but she started to paint my nails same color! I had to stop her and I didn't wanted to risk anything so i told her if i can change to neutral color. I also wanted jewel on my nail, but she finished my nails less then 20mins.... I told her at the end if I can have jewels on my nails. She couldn't understand so other lady had to come and translate. They both didn't look happy that i requested the jewels at the end. I guess that was my fault for not communicating well. When I asked for certain shape of jewels, they weren't friendly and had deadly serious face. I was so scared to ask anything. They also talked in Chinese saying if I was korean and all. What's is that have to do anything with my nails. Ridiculous,I was so over it, and wanting to leave ASAP. The fact that this is the first time I have written a yelp review should speak to how poor my experience was at this place. I gave this place a second chance after my last experience. Unfortunately, I got the same girl this time and the outcome was worse than the last. Last time she took 3 hours to complete a simple gel manicure. This time not only did she take 2 hours to put on 2 tips and paint a one color manicure, she was extremely rude to the point where I wanted to leave immediately. Her eye rolling was extremely unprofessional especially for what the circumstance was. Another girl was trying to translate and the worker became visibly impatient and angry and basically told me not to do the design at all due to her not being able to explain the prices -- the design was extremely simple (3 stripes and a dot) Additionally, she did a horrible job w cuticles and got annoyed when I told her to fix the shape of my nail. As a nail technician your JOB is to satisfy your customer and that means shaping BOTH hands the same length and shape. I don't think it's out of line to ask for symmetry on both hands. Rather, it shouldn't even need to be said. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place. read more
