I've been going to 157 Nail Spa for two years and have tried several nail salons in the East Rockaway, Lynbrook, and Island Park areas. It is a huge location with plenty of nail techs. It is bright and clean inside. I know another location opened in Oceanside recently, but I haven't tried that one yet. This is my favorite salon because Hannah does a fantastic job. If you dread sitting in a chair for an hour and a half to two hours, look no further. Hannah removes my powder gel and creates a design in just 60 minutes. I usually show her a photo, and she always delivers exactly what I want. I can't recommend other nail technicians, but Hannah is amazing at what she does for as long as I've known her. She does book up quickly because she is just that good, so be sure to book her at least a week in advance. Depending on the day and time, the parking lot is shared with the Dunkin' next door and tends to flood when it rains or snows, so be mindful of that. read more

I specifically wanted something tomato-themed for a work trip and let me tell you: the attention he brings to detail is second to none. Not only is his work meticulous (he would not settle until the color on the tomatoes was perfectly aligned with the pics I showed him and also added his own personal touches), but he also elevates the experience in being quietly as delighted as I am. I got a full set with UV gel done by Yuki on a Friday morning. By Saturday, a nail broke. I went back and got it fixed -- then another broke Sunday morning, and another later that day. I ended up going back FOUR times in three days. Clearly, the original set was poorly done. And it's not like I'm out here punching bricks or juggling bowling balls -- the nails just weren't done properly. The only positive is that they gave me a full refund -- but only because I insisted and made it clear I wasn't accepting another crappy manicure . This nail salon was recommended to me and it did not disappoint! I can safely say they've given me the best pedicures I've ever received. The bottom of my feet feel like a baby's bottom when I walk out of the salon. They also use this "grater" type device instead of the pumice stone which is worth the price of the pedicure alone. I have super sensitive/ticklish feet and this is the only place that I haven't been gripping the sides of the chair trying not to jump out of my seat. I do have to note that their pedicures are definitely higher quality than their manicures!! The whole environment is super sanitary feeling and the staff are friendly. They even have a young girl that translates if necessary which is super helpful! While it's definitely not the cheapest spot, you're getting your moneys worth. A hot tip is to get the regular pedicure but add callus removal to save a bit of money. read more

Finally came here after my sister went and always seeing it busy. Came on a Thursday afterwork. I made an appointment a couple hours prior and it was very very busy. It took a while for my dip removal process. Yuki took care of my new set (on my original nails), I showed her some pictures to do a marble effect (with pink as the base) and she free handed the designs. Every nail is unique and gorgeous. So far, I've gone to 2 different nail techs and both have done a great job. My gel nails lasted 3 weeks with no breaking or chipping, and could've gone longer, but I don't like them when they get too long. The nail salon I was going to before, my nails would break after a week and a half so I was getting frustrated. Rachel was great, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and her and Robin worked very hard to match it. My nails came out beautiful. I've heard so many good things about 157 so I wanted to try it out for myself. My experience was pretty typical - nothing too special. It was clean and they were nice. My issue is I got my nails done (powder gel) on Monday the 14th and by today the 19th one is already chipped. Not even a broken nail but just the gel chipped off. I have never ever had this happen before. I came here with my mom after reading the raving reviews online & that was such a mistake. I grew my nail's out for the 3wks prior to my visit. I told the technician i wanted to keep my length & looking the same as i had (rounded tip). What she did was cut the entire length off & square cut. Normally, a manicure takes about 30min to complete & they take their time. I was in & out of the chair in about 15min. My mom got a pedi, but she even said she was shocked by how quick i was done. NEVER has a manicure been completed so quickly. That included my technician getting out of the chair 3 different times mid-manicure. As well as stopping mid-manicure to turn around in her chair to have conversations with other people. And you could tell she was just rushing the entire time. Extremely disappointed with the service. Additionally the manicure fully to the tip of my nail's. It's like this technician purposely botched my manicure. Maybe i will give them another shot, but i will 100% not go back to the same technician. read more

I really don't like to leave negative reviews but this experience was extremely upsetting. I've been going here since I moved to the area, around 2 years. I've never had an issue before other than being charged a lot of money for designs without being told beforehand. I booked my appointment 2 months early for my wedding along with my mother and my bridesmaids, We easily spent about $1,000 in the 3 hours we were there. I left loving my nails and they were exactly what I wanted for my wedding. I didn't care that it cost me $130. The next day, on my wedding day, I woke up and noticed that my nails were all yellow. The hair and makeup people were there at 8am so I didn't have time to go back. The only option I had was to file them and they were awful so I had to use my neices glitter polish to cover up. My nails were ruined and not what I wanted to see in my pictures. I tried to soak in polish remover but the stones were still yellow. So I went back. No apologies or anything. I was asked 3 times by 3 different people if I went to the BEACH! I sat down and had my nails fixed. I asked for chrome because I'm about to go on my honeymoon and didn't want my nails plain white. I spent all that money to have the stones put on and they were ruined overnight. I went to leave and was charged $30 for the chrome. Even though the girls doing nails said it was because a different top coat was used - which to me says - it was not my fault! - there was no remorse by the girl in the front who I can assume is the owner. I am completely upset and angry that all my wedding pictures and closeups were ruined because I had to paint my own nails as inwas getting my hair done. Something that was completely important to me. I don't think I will be going back after this. It's truly heartbreaking and something I cannot over look. It was on my mind the whole wedding day and I am extremely upset and the fact that they couldn't even make good on it speaks volumes. One of the worst nail salons I've ever been to. I came here, while visiting Long Island and was extremely disappointed. I got a regular mani/pedi in under an hour. The staff was speaking poorly about me right in front of me and I never got a massage at any point during my service. The 2 staff members, including the owner/manager were extremely rude. The lady did a nice job on my toes but I have deep ridges and she did not smooth them put which left them looking bad. Another lady did my nails. I got the SNS. She did a nice job but too thick. When I told her to do them thinner she said 'well your nails are not even'. That's the 1st time I'd ever heard that one! While overall both came out nice, I will go back to my old salon and compare. This place is great!! Writing this review mid pedicure but the experience so far has been very pleasant. Aside from the tricky parking situation you walk in to a friendly front desk who manages the client/employee assignment in an organized way unlike other seemingly typical haphazard arrangements. The place is very clean and well ventilated and they have a ton of colors and employees so I was seen right away even though it's Friday of LDW! Went to another salon and had to walk out because they were so slammed. This place has 2x the amount of seats and all the equipment is new. They even have phone stands for your cell at the manicure station!! She was going to do the design I wanted for $105 but I had a flight to catch so I ended up choosing a solid color with full UV gel set for $70. There are no imperfections. I've been coming here for a couple of months and it's slowly been going downhill. They took down their plastic barriers and stopped wearing gloves. I'm a bit paranoid of getting sick so that was concerning to me since they use to be very good with protocol. I came here on Saturday to get a gel fill in mani/pedi that I made an appointment for. I was rushed into picking a color to get seated. My nail tech, who must of been new because they had no name tag rushed through the appointment. I had asked him to put another coat of the color on since it was streaky after he put the top coat on.... Obviously annoyed he had to buff out the color to reapply another coat. I felt bad asking but I am paying for the service, he rushed through doing so that every-time he buffed a nail he was burning my cuticle. Then, while getting my pedicure I had a different tech who was very nice. She saw I was wearing a mask and put gloves on which I appreciated. I asked for the spa pedicure which usually has lavender scent to it.. the other day it was orange. Which, I wouldn't mind if I wasn't extremely sensitive to the smell of citrus... I didn't make a fuss of it since I was wearing a mask and couldn't really smell it.. the pedicure was fine. I tipped $10 to both techs even though the manicure was horrendous. The manicure tech didn't even look up in my direction when I handed him the tip (he wasn't with a client) extremely rude. Sunday - my manicure and pedicure chipped. I would of went back to get them fixed but, I was leaving for my honeymoon and had to finish packing. It's 4 days later and half my toes don't have any color and one nail is getting worse. I paid $85 before tip. $50 for nails $35 for pedicure I understand things are sky rocketing because of covid and I don't mind spending the money if the service is done properly. Sad because this was always my "go-to" but I will not be returning. read more

I'm honestly starting to reconsider my 5 star review.... I've been to this salon 4 times and every time after the first, my nails have looked worse. The first time I went my nails lasted me a solid 5 weeks, but every time after that my nails have been breaking so much easier (almost as if they were not done properly to last a while)...
