This bar is located in the neighborhood I grew up in and it's one of the only bars that have stayed true to the old school neighborhood vibes. 1642 is comfortable and effortless, it possess a low maintenance, chic atmosphere. I believe it is an exclusive beer and wine bar with a few select red and white wines and beers. It's dimly lit and the chalkboards were a little smudged and hard to read, but the bar tender told us our choices for reds and we ended up getting a bottle of Cotes Du Rhone. There's no table service, even if you order a bottle, you'll have to make a few trips from the bar to your table but it's all part of 1642 Beer & Wine. Our bottle of red was really yummy and I guess we were shocked since it was $26. While we were sipping and enjoying ourselves a duo came in and performed on the piano and banjo which was the perfect touch. If you're looking for a low key place to grab a bottle of wine or beer with a few friends then this is your place. The noise level is low and dress casual or however you want. Tips: Street parking only and it's everywhere.

Quaint little spot to chill at while you're waiting for traffic to die down. Owner is super cool.

On any given night of the week you might find punk rock young people playing fun games to working actors and models frolicking the outside.. Ren seems to lead the security and is a real cool guy. The told me to empty my pockets. Seriously. Secondly, I put my red bull in a to go cup not knowing what their policy was on leaving with non alcoholic drinks but I assumed it was fine. Two security guards were present. The more heavy set one was perfectly fine and told me that I couldn't leave with it. And I was understanding of that so I finished it by the exit inside the patio. Suddenly a second younger security guard interjects out of nowhere reprimanding me that I can't leave with a drink. The other security guard says it's a red bull and that I'm finishing it and I, slightly annoyed, said "I'm literally going to finish it right here." And the younger security guard, literally to my face, mocks my voice and tone and goes "OKAY." In the most condescending, patronising tone you can imagine and curses me out under his breath not once but twice. With other customers present and apologized to the guy whose bag he was checking as if I'd caused a problem. I don't know who you think you're talking to but I'm not the one. So I leave and go to another bar and decide to finish my night back at 4100 and give it another chance. The security staff had been changed out so I was feeling optimistic. Upon bag inspection again, I was denied entry for an empty mini bottle that I threw out in front of security and assured them was EMPTY. I was refused entry. I entered the bar earlier that night with the same contents in my bag without issue the first time. If any other staff or management happens to read this, I assure you, I have never, ever had such an unprofessional and unpleasant experience at any other bar or restaurant in my entire life. And I go out extremely frequently. There absolutely needs to be a staff change and I most likely will discourage any of my friends from returning and I will not be back.

They found us a seat w/o a proper reservation, and the place was lively. Ordered the hummingbird, which was unexpectedly herbaceous. Tangy with smoky undertones. Refreshing. I quite enjoyed it. The husband got the bellhop, which he said was fine but not mind blowing. We ordered the Chicken liver toast, fried mozzarella, and chicken sandwich hot and spicy. The husband got the mussels. Chicken liver toast was served w mustard seed and berry compote, which highlighted the buttery fatness. The toast wasn't crunchy and a bit difficult to cut, but the pickled vegetables were fantastic. The fried mozzarella was simple and decently executed, somewhat generic and forgettable. Better than standard mozzarella sticks. The fries were crisp and perfectly seasoned. A+. That chicken sandwich was toothsome and juicy. Def worthy of a repeat visit. I'll be thinking abt this sandwich for a while. Of his mussels, the husband appreciated the spicy broth but was underwhelmed by the crusty bread it accompanied. I had a wonderful experience personally, hence the 4 stars, but proceed with caution.

I went tonight, and the price now for a burger and fries is $27. Two years ago it was $17. That's a 58% increase on a burger and fries in two years. The price of beef has increased significantly over the past two years, but not by 58%. A $27 burger at a pub is a reason not return. Stop raising prices crazy amounts. Nobody's going to be able to afford to eat out anymore.

Their recommendations were spot on. The atmosphere is intimate, cozy, and honestly perfect for a date night. It has such a warm and inviting vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. Unfortunately, we arrived just after the kitchen had closed, but that only gives me another reason to come back. The service was truly top-tier, and the wine was absolutely divine. I even enjoyed both a white and a red during my visit. Normally mixing wines can leave me with a headache the next day, but the bartenders paired everything so thoughtfully that the wines complemented each other beautifully, and I felt great afterward. I can't wait to return and experience both the food and wine together next time. Highly recommend!

And over time, this place has always had a fun vibe and reasonably priced drinks. The folks here seem to always be friendly as well. They also have the Dodgers games on when available so that's great if you want to grab a drink in the area and don't want to miss the game. On my most recent trip, I came here after having dinner with a couple of friends in the area for a after dinner drink/ night cap. Ordered the martini and it was good! He was friendly, welcoming, and gave us a great first impression. However, our experience afterward was disappointing. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated and another 20-30 minutes before anyone took our order. I understand that restaurants get busy, and we were trying to be patient because we could see the staff was overwhelmed. When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. I completely understand being busy, but customer service should still be respectful. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression despite the great welcome we received from Nate.
