Right from the start, trying to find parking is hell. Flyer for the show we were going to unfortunately said a time that was earlier than the place opened (?), which was supposed to be 9. Here on Yelp, it says 9. We got there at 9. Nope, not open and guy was grumpy about it but were let in anyways because the band knew us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's hard to explain this place. It's like they want to be a fancy dive. I like one or the other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like to pay cash. They don't take cash. They charged me one price for my gin & tonic, and then a different price for the same drink when my friend went to get one. "Well gin & tonic", so no, we didn't order a brand. The drinks were weak and the tonic was flat. I can live with weak drinks but flat tonic at a bar is just wrong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The sound system is okay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The stage lighting was weird and even blinded one of the band members a couple of times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I won't be going back and I have a feeling the owners would say that would make them happy. That was the vibe.

    Better yet, the whole bathroom.

Service was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Drinks were fine, but for fxxx sake clean your women's restroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The shit ring in the toilets didn't happen over the weekend. FYI, there are cleaning products under the sink.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great local venue for live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cheap drinks and fast service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the location and crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will totally return again!

Last Wednesday my Daughter played at Harvard & Stone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It felt like entering a honkytonk in Nashville; Filled with history and reminiscent of Douglas Corner or the Bluebird.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You know, where you feel the energy of years of blood, sweat & tears that goes into doing music. The service was great. The drinks were made with care and the sound man as well as host did a wonderful job. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's even a pool table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Make an effort to visit this establishment if you're visiting LA or if you're a regular to some great nightlife. Check out their schedule for two stepping and who's playing. Will not disappoint.

Honestly, this would have been a 2.5 star review a decade ago. Harvard and Stone was once a pretentious, groupie venue with rude doormen and a moronic dress code, which didn't match its overall grunge-vibe. Nevertheless, it seems 2024 Harvard and Stone now allows folks (men) to come inside in shorts if they please, which is refreshing for those hot summer days. That aside, it's a fun spot that caters to aspiring, indie musicians, their fans, and general music aficionados. I went to see my friend Gregg Garvey play, and I had a blast. The bartender has a strong pouring-hand, which is very much appreciated from a light-weight like myself who only needs one drink to be set for the night. Glad Harvard and Stone is still around now that it's loosened its absurd dress code and hired friendlier staff. I'll gladly go back any given night to see a band play.

Came here on a Saturday night. Vibes were different - I was transported back to the 90s. Some kid was literally accessories with a VHS tapes and off my own doing, I asked him what it was as if I didn't. Good some Long Island Ice teas, some of the priciest I've had ($20 each) for mediocre. We left right before the band came on. Had an enjoyable time but not really my vibe

    Second floor pool only!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good place for chill vibes drinks n pool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone was friendly so far. I don't think I really need to post so many words but yelp is making me. As if a photo isn't enough. No food. Shitty Hollywood parking if u come too late. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Decent bartenders. Friendly door guy. Fun tournament host on Wednesday nights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restrooms really do bring out the "powder room" way of saying it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The second of the 2 stars is only because it is within walking distance to my apartment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is something wildly shady and uncomfortable about this bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't totally put my finger on it so please, this review may be a IYKYK situation. First, this bar is on Hollywood Blvd, with nothing else around it but a strip bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entry, it seems as though it is a neighborhood hangout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This part of East Hollywood doesn't really have much outside of restaurants. While there may be some people in the room that have been there consistently, there are no "regulars". [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do know they that serve as a venue for artists to perform live, which is awesome as that whole industry isn't as thriving as it was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The problem is, they don't cater to the nights when nothing is happening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went in on this Sunday before a holiday kinda expecting a good crowd and general silliness. There was no one, and I paid $9.50 (without tip) for a Modelo can. They may argue that it was a Modelo "Especial". but c'mon. A single can of beer? I had taken a break from going for a few months because of the inconsistency of my tab (I have 1-3 drinks max, no shots, no rounds for groups), my bill was never even close to being the same. I became friendly with a couple bartenders and I learned through the grapevine "never start a tab, always order and close". I thought that was wild because I never carry cash so it seems like a wild inconvenience to the bartender in my opinion. They also don't carry or accept cash. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of red flags at this place, which is a bummer because its an awesome space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, this urinal has been broken for at least a year.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I know this because I moved to my current apartment a year ago....also, No prices are listed.....anywhere. If you are coming to see a show or a band, I would say, drink beforehand. You're wasting your money on staff that very clearly has no interest in being there, the bar is falling apart, and there is absolutely something so shady and dishonest happening behind the scenes. What a shame..

    Dancing

Do they still have burlesque shows?

    Yes

    Is this a sober/non-alcoholic bar?

    There's lots of alcohol

Does it have a coat check?

    No

    Is it 21+ only?

    Yes.

    Is there happy hour?

There is. The place opens at 8PM. We were there on a Friday and I think the Happy Hour went until 9:00 or 9:30PM.

Is there a cover charge? And how late are they open on Saturdays?

No cover, and open until at least 2:00 am, if I remember. It was a really cool bar with a chill vibe. Not pretentious or too hipster like. But also very nice.

I ordered the American breakfast, which was filling, flavorful, and a great value. The tiki flight was also a highlight and such a fun way to explore the different drinks and discover what you like. The colada was by far my favorite! The rooftop itself has a wonderful atmosphere--it feels open and lively while still offering a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard. The celebrity wax figures placed around the rooftop add a playful, uniquely Hollywood touch and make for some fun photo opportunities. There were also seats at the bar but not enough for our group size. We came in for drinks and food before heading over to TCL Chinese Theatre. We ordered a few drinks and some shareables. The French martini was delicious- it had raspberry liqueur, pineapple juice and vodka. Very refreshing. The wild mushroom tagliatelle was phenomenal the pasta was just right and oh those delicate but powerful herbs, divine! The Japanese sweet potatos were so tender, the sauce that was one them was so yummy, I loved it. The steak & frites were scrumptious, steak was perfectly medium rare and fries were classic. The charcuterie board was so good we got the 3 cheese and 2 meats, everyone enjoyed it. The fresh baguette was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside, only thing that could have made it better was a little balsamic. Overall wonderfully surprised by the lobby bar on a Tuesday night.

(Visit: 11/23/2024, Saturday evening around 10 )…read more About The Lobby -- "Thoughtfully reimagined by Nickey Kehoe (interior designer), the Lobby at The Hollywood Roosevelt is a stylish, inviting space to unwind. With dishes from Shirley Brasserie available all day, it's the perfect spot to enjoy everything from light bites to seasonal plates, surrounded by the warmth of the historic fireplace and the charm of this iconic setting." -- from The Roosevelt Hotel's website. Shirley Brasserie, the restaurant referred to above, is also located in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (located next to The Lobby). The "iconic" they refer to is the fact that this hotel is historic -- it was built in 1926 during the Golden Era of Los Angeles architecture. It is named after Theodore Roosevelt. The first Academy Awards (Oscars) was held here in 1929. The hotel had its ups and downs since then but currently it looks beautiful and thriving. Take your out-of-state visiting friends/relatives to this place. Because this is a big part of "Hollywood". I recommend The Lobby to hang out after a long day's work or after a nice dinner nearby. This is where my sister and I went after our dinner at Musso and Frank. My sister ordered their Espresso Martini which was really good. I had a beer. Our server wasn't as warm as the ones during my visit in 2023. I think she was an introvert or a bit of a nervous person. But she did not seem potentially horrible. Restroom: I did not go to the restroom this time. I think there was a line. But I remember back in 2023 that you had to ask for a key or a code. Which is understandable for this area. Parking: I recommend the valet parking. If validated, the fee is really reasonable (I forgot how much they charged). We got ours validated because we ordered those drinks from The Lobby.

Even though this restaurant is a bar restaurant located in the Loews Hotel, the dishes are a lot more elevated and high-quality than I expected when compared to bar food. Food was actually very good. I didn't realize that food was Asian-Mexican fusion, but I have to say the mixture of flavors worked very well together. We ordered spicy tuna nigiri tacos, birria gyozas, skirt steak with Viet chimichurri sauce, ceviche, short-rib tacos, scallops with spicy hominy, and chai brownie for dessert. Every dish had great flavors and were seasoned very well. Steak was cooked perfectly and seafood quality tasted fresh. Hibiscus cocktail was also very tasty and refreshing. My only callouts were the chips for the ceviche were stale and the brownie was quite dry. Service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, checking on us constantly. Food pace was also well-timed and came out accordingly. The reason why I give this place a 4-star is because of the ambience. This bar restaurant is attached to the lobby and it can get very loud and rowdy with hotel guests sitting around. It would be better if the restaurant was separate from the lobby area to provide a more personal and less noisy dining experience. Also, the design could use some updating as it felt like eating in a restaurant located in a low-end casino. Ambience doesn't match the quality of the food. Nonetheless, I would still come dine here if I'm in the area.
