This is a small privately owned restaurant. The restaurant has a great staff, and food is good. I normally get the daily specials. The staff will work with you on anything you do not like or eat to adjust the menu to meet your needs. I have only two small negative comments. The first time I went was during their first year opening and I was not impressed. The price point and food was not matching up. This time, I went for a pork chop special with red beans and rice and got lemon pepper wings and fries. I intended to spread these two meals over two days, but it was so good, I ate them in one sitting. It was not overly salted like a lot of places. I could tell they know how to add flavor from real ingredients, and that is what I look for. I liked that the red beans and rice didn't have any pork and still was off the chain. My friend had bourbon wings and they were literally the best bourbon wings I've ever tasted. A coworker recommended Red Zone as a lunch spot and I'm glad he did! The lady and gentleman behind the counter were above and beyond friendly! They helped me decide on what to get and just generally super nice. The loaded fries were the star of the show for me. I also had a Philly and shrimp poboy that was pretty good too. This place has a great menu. I recommend any of the wings, po boy, red beans and rice, catfish, pork chops. The cornbread is nice and sweet and has honey drizzled on it. Please try the jerk chicken egg rolls, they are A1. I must say that I've been a few times and they've been out of some items which can be frustrating which is the only reason they didn't get 5 stars from me. I've heard so much about Chef Mike Mosley red beans and rice, today he had it as his Sunday special, I just had to come by and get some! The red beans and rice was paired with battered fried wings. Even after driving 15 minutes home, doing a whole foodtography shoot, the wings were still perfectly crispy! I rarely order red beans and rice as an entree anywhere, because more than often the beans are either undercook or overcook, and reminds me of refried beans, so I usually order it as a side. His red beans were creamy, not mushy, the seasoning was perfect with a slight smokiness from the turkey necks. I really liked that he pairs it up with wings instead of a whole sausage link, you get the best of both worlds! The wings aren't battered thick or overly seasoned, so it goes nicely with the red beans. Now that I've had a sneak peek of his crispy wings, I really want to try to different flavors that he has! This was a total hit! Clean place with some outdoor seatings, he will have a few tables inside as well, but it's more of a carryout type place. Called in my order and it was ready when I got there. I was working nearby and decided to check this place out, thinking it was a sports bar. I had no idea it was going to be Caribbean type food, but I decided to go for it and am glad I did. My friend ordered a philly cheesesteak, which had shrimp in it, and I got the jerk chicken plate. He said his was really good and the shrimp really kicked it off. My jerk chicken plate lit me up a little bit, not so much with spice but just heavy flavor. It's not for lightweights. The jerk seasoning is not just heat, but lots of spices, too. Upon entry the staff greeted us and was very accommodating and nice! We order ordered and decided to eat there. The cashier was very nice. I cannot agree how it helps to have cheerful staff members, to me that makes a big difference. They looked after our request due to hubs shellfish allergy. All the food was hot and good. This is a great little out of the way spot. Definitely worth a visit even if it will take you an extra 5 minutes to get there. Small diner that shares a building with a gym. The food is all pretty rich and decadent, so be warned. My po-boy today was fully dressed with sauce and cheese. The shrimp were fresh, jumbo and cooked to perfection! Our mini foodie meet was at my favorite 1693 Red Zone. We all had such a wonderful time. Great great food, and hospitality from Chef Mike Mosley and his staff. I ordered chicken poppers. They are stuffed with a tomato-y cream sauce that is phenomenal. I also ordered steak egg rolls that are served with a sauce that is like a jerk soy. Very good. Then there's the fried cabbage. It is fried perfectly with a glaze I believe to be bourbon. The perfect texture. Not over cooked at all. Then there's my favorite.. creole chicken. Y'all ... the flavor is amazing, not spicy, but just a slight kick. It's served over rice and is perfect. I am officially a fan! There Jerk chicken eggrolls alone have given this place 5 stars! The place is not in an area I often travel daily but it is every bit worth the drive. The place is a bit small tucked on the side of the connected gym. Because I can see the gym when you pull up I always feel the ambition to possibly work out after I eat as many tasty Lemon pepper wings as I can. Or at least the possibility exists...it should count right? Either way this is a must try! It is like eating bar/ game-night party foods with a New Orleans flavored twist. First visit yesterday-we ordered the Philly steak poboy, red fish and shrimp over rice and the grilled chicken and shrimp over mash. Spent $54.00 on complete yuck!! The Philly steak was decent but was swimming in mayo. The red fish did not look or taste like fish. The shrimp was fishy and the texture was odd. It came with a side of cabbage and broccoli...Both swimming in some type of brown liquid. The mashed potatoes were obviously from a box....We threw everything in the trash. Nasty!!
