I had been wanting to try Kingburger for years, but every time we were in the area, we were always just passing by and had to get to where we were going on a specific schedule. This past weekend we had some time and stopped on the way home. My husband and I each got a King Cheeseburger and split a large poutine. The King Burger has two beef patties, triple bun, Kingburger sauce, and fried onions. The cheeseburger just adds cheese. The patties were real, homemade beef patties. They weren't too thick or dense and were juicy. The cheese was real cheese slices and not Kraft singles. The fried onions were good, not too many and not overwhelming. The Kingburger sauce seemed mostly like a mix of ketchup and mustard and there was far too much for me - I would've liked to taste the beef more because it was really great! I was also hoping to give more burger to our little kiddo without the sauce or just minimal. The buns were nothing special, but were fresh, soft, and helped soak up the sauce. In fairness, I like light sauce, whereas my husband likes everything super saucy and he really enjoyed it. All in all, it's definitely a good burger and I might try the Super Burger next time, which also comes with back bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and subs fried onions for raw. The poutine, unfortunately, did not the have cheese curds I was craving, but the gravy was very tasty and the fries were so perfectly crispy. As a big cheese lover, dare I say that I might just order fries and gravy next time. The portion was pretty big, too. Super affordable, weekday specials, and fast and friendly service. Love a small, local, family-owned restaurant that's been around for ages. There's a patio to the side and parking, but no indoor seating and truly a drive-thru with a drive-in theatre restaurant vibe. I'll need to try one of their many milkshakes next time. For at least the past few years they have a gift set called "The 12 Beers of Christmas." The beers have funny festive names and funky festive flavours. This past year, 2023, some of the beers in this set were "Cuddly as a Cactus" (Green Apple Sour), "Figgin' Christmas Cake" (Christmas Cake Honey Brown) and "Not My Gumdrop Buttons!" (Gingerbread English Ale). Even though I'm not a beer drinker, I do like trying these unusual flavours and having a tiny sip. My comment is usually "too hoppy" or "tastes too much like beer!" Haha. My husband likes the fun flavours but has noted that some of the notes are on the artificial side, and likes their "regular" beers better. They sell their beers online and offer free local delivery (The Ottawa Valley) or you can also pick up at their location in Cobden for free. They deliver to the rest of Ontario for a shipping fee too. Their beers are also available at the LCBO. The 12 Beers of Christmas set is regularly $68 but if you pre-order, you get the pre-order sale price of $54.40, which is what my brother did. (waitress amazing, deserves better) 2-Coffee - ok 3-Breakfast, 2 over easy mine were fine, my friend did not feel hers were cooked enough. 4-Toast - good (mine Rye hers white and burnt upon request, LOL although the waitress did have to ask for hers to be toasted again to meet that request) 5- Tomato - ok it was garnish so the fact that it was half green could pass if I ignored the season blech 6- Potatoes- where to start, keep it simple...I pierced one with a fork and grease/ oil literally oozed out, unfortunately I had put one in my mouth without looking and was almost sick. These were obviously deep fried and more than once, nauseating. 7-the bacon ??? They called little pieces of pure fat...no seriously, just fat... bacon the strips were cut in half, ok but between two plates there were only 3 half pieces that were edible. 2-3 more that had a slight pink piece visible and the rest completely white fat!!! So we ask and the really nice waitress who just got told off by her boss says well where do you buy bacon that's not just fat these days, we answered EVERYWHERE!!! 8- Oh yeah, the Bill...they charged $7.99 per plate of nasty and then extra for the coffee. $18.60 ish for 2. 9- We were both quite ill after for a couple hours We did complain and were given pathetic excuses, I had tried to speak with the manager but then simply decided I just wanted to leave. I paid the full price for my meal and left appropriate tip for the pleasant and unfortunate waitress. I saw a pizza delivered that did look good but I would never recommend them to anyone. They did not wish to hear our complaint or do anything and so I offer it as advise to anyone who is venturing out. Go across the Hwy to Logos Land up the Hwy 2 mins into Cobden and one of the offerings no matter how busy. Rant over, if my tummy has recovered by tomorrow I may make my OWN cremini mushroom and swiss omelette with fresh chives, just sayin'.
