Beautiful venue and fabulous breakfast. Friendly staff. I am torn between 3 and 4 stars though, because my room had an overwhelming odor of dog. I love pets but the smell was distracting and I wish hotels would not allow them. I really struggled here, because otherwise it is a great place to stay with a beautiful view of the Delaware. I didn't get a chance to say anything to the staff, because I had to leave shortly after I took my breakfast and they were busy serving everyone else. I was only here from 9 PM until about 9 AM, so my stay was quite a short one, but had it been longer, I would have asked to change rooms. The party next door to me was loud at first, but by 11:30 PM they had quieted down. I believe there was a wedding taking place that weekend, so that could explain the noise level. Other than that, it was pretty quiet. While I would not necessarily *not* recommend this place, I would call first to see if there is a pet-free room available. I am not certain whether it is permitted in all rooms or if some are pet-free due to various allergies.

GREAT German meal tonight. From the potato pancakes with apple salad to the Sauerbraten with spaetzle AND red cabbage. You can be Ed find this food done right. They did it right tonight. The Dead playing in the background was a nice touch

Came here for a quick weekend getaway from the city and couldn't have asked for a better trip! Everyone was so kind and the room was adorable! Super clean and the view was to die for. Breakfast was delicious and the bar attached to the restaurant had great drinks and even better service! 10/10 definitely plan on coming back soon! :)

My daughter and I stayed night of June 30. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean. Negatives were: you can't see TV from bed at all, outlets to plug in devices were behind the bed, you can't read the numbers on the room air conditioner without a flashlight - in daytime. loved the door that opens to walkway where you can see the river. beautiful views. breakfast was good, pretty eating area. We had a hard time dragging our luggage up steps. We didn't think to ask for a first floor room.

Highly recommend! Judy and Susan and the gentlemen at the office made our pandemic getaway dreams come true! Contactless check-in and out, an incredible breakfast each morning, amazing river views, and they even upgraded us for our anniversary and provided champagne and chocolate. We felt so accommodated and pampered. It was the perfect getaway from the city and such a wonderful place to be with nature. So close to New Hope, with a car and close to so many fun excursions and good eats! We can't wait to come back! Thank you Judy and all for being such amazing hosts.

The polenta was cooked to perfection. I made a very loud yummy sound when I tasted his meal. I ordered the lamb 3 generous lollipop lamb chops and felt no shame as I gnawed at my bones. Temperature perfect, the sauce!!! and the carrots julienned with the best spice and maybe a pinch of brown sugar (tried guessing because it was so good, these were not carrots ! So much more. And a purple potato mash that was ... I mean everything was beyond our hopes. We chose the fresh fruit desert that had a very unusual combination, 2 of which I'd never had before. I'm now a convert. We were served by Tracy clearly and expert (warm but not making herself the focus) with Brady in training and already up to speed. Some things I noticed. When food came out the whole kitchen came out and served everybody at once! How refreshing to see that. All servers were attentive and paying attention to the entire room. No one felt unnoticed and forgotten. The wonderful woman behind the desk at the entryway, took us on a tour of the event space with complete joy and enthusiasm. She didn't seem put out at all in fact I wanted to just hang out with her for a while. So welcoming. The second we walked in the door everyone said hello to us as if they had known us for years! We just moved here. We had never been there in our lives. The property is perfectly maintained, makes quite a statement, and the new converted barn was my dream barn. My only regret is that I didn't get to meet all the sheep on the property. If any guests come to visit us in our new home in French Town, we're going to recommend they stay there in one of the cottages possibly or the in itself so that they can have the ultimate comfort and the elegance. They would expect in an overnight that I fear, our guest room will not lend itself to. I want to get married again so I can get married there! I want to eat there once a week! Gratitude to my niece who we asked for a recommendation of where we should eat for a nice meal to celebrate my husband, after a big achievement. She has lived here for three years and as a trained nutritionist and chef herself. She said the only place you should go is the Woolverton Inn and its New Restaurant. She will be receiving a gift! Lastly, I was so overwhelmed upon entering the restored barn that I forgot the name of the elegant man who received us with such grace. He's a gracious host and constantly circulated the room keeping an eye on the flow with light personnel suggestions ( potato soup with lobster next time! I promise) and birthday wishes for a large families grandmother. Go, enjoy, stay there, eat there, bring friends there! Bon apetite!

The wedding Mass was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in Doylestown, and the reception was at Hollyhedge Estate. The bride (our niece) and groom, and the families, found a fantastic location with a great staff, at a wonderful location... so good that even a light rain throughout the day could not dampen the event. Hollyhedge and The 1740 House have the same owners, and they offer a shuttle bus from our room to the reception... we were able to socialize on the ride and not worry about driving home... three bus times were available. - - - The Arrival - - - Our first impression was a strongly positive one... it was still raining lightly as we arrived and as we stepped off the bus, there was a sizeable team of Hollyhedge team members holding umbrellas waiting to escort each of us / each couple inside... not a single raindrop fell on our clothes, thanks to "The Hollyhedge 'Umbrella Brigade'." It has high ceilings, and a bar and comfortably seated the ~200 guests. And the dance floor was the place to be. - - - The Ride Home, back to The 1740 House - - - After the main room was closed for the night, we went back to the front building for more socializing and a snack and then the buses got us back to the 1740 House, safe and sound Thank you, Hollyhedge Estate ----- ----- -----

First- the decor is open and airy in a rather idyllic setting- perhaps late 18th, early 19th century building? I don't recall the precise date. The southern dining room is well lit and sets betwixt a canal on the West and the Delaware River on the East. Both of which can easily be viewed- along with a public tow-path for the canal. Yes, there is outdoor seating. The wine list is what you would expect, and that is not so say anything denigrating. We went with a 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Cellier des Princes Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Chasse des Princes) - while a bit young, it was kept well, and went swimmingly with our lunch, nor was it overpriced. The food. Moules Marinières. C'est magnifique! Tender. Flavourful. Fresh (as best as one can be 90 minutes from the sea). The broth was exquisite- not overly salted, and very respectful of the Mussels- very traditional and well executed. I will certainly be back here. In fact, speaking with another well travelled Wine Enthusiast/Foodie semi-local at a wine bar about Golden Pheasant, he shared much the same sentiment. Truly, this encompasses a roadside hidden gem.

The location is unbeatable and it is accessible to everything that the beautiful and charming downtown of Doylestown has to offer with their bookstores, bars, restaurants, and shopping. The town even has a stand alone movie theatre. The Inn is charming, historic, quaint, cozy, and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The Inn staff was very welcoming and warm and attached to a rustic restaurant called the Hattery Stove & Still (worth the visit). We stayed in the George Washington room on the second floor. It was a nice and quiet location and we only had a neighbor across from us and no rooms next to us on either side. Everything in our room worked to perfection and the housekeeping staff did their job nicely. There was a very visible rusted air vent in the bathroom that needed replacing and the mattress was very soft, not firm, causing us to fold into the center of the bed. There were no coffeemakers in the rooms but a carafe of hot water with a tea selection as well as a carafe of coffee in the lobby after 10:00 pm. Sadly, it is not there all day but only late at night. When our friend came down in the early morning for a cup of coffee, he mentioned it was cold and went across the street to Starbucks. The Inn does not have private parking so we were directed to the public parking lot, a half a block away, and the street parking. Parking was not free and you will have to pay during the day, however, there is no charge for overnight parking. The rates were inexpensive considering where I live in New Jersey. The price of the Inn was very reasonable and we would not hesitate to stay here again. None of these things I mentioned bothered my wife and I and we only point them out for your information only. The Inn is only 15 minutes from Peddler's Village and just a tad longer to New Hope, PA. This is a great location to stay and make the trips.
