My husband and I enjoyed this B & B. It didn't appear to be in a great neighborhood but after walking, it wasn't bad. Little Italy section was just a short 2 blocks away. They had a small lot and our car, with belongings, were safe. Upon arriving we were worried what the place would look like inside. It was very nice. We were also happy to see that they had an elevator. We were warmly greeted and shown our room. The room was very clean. The bathroom was large and appeared to be marble or at least, very good stone. We had a jacuzzi and a separate shower. It was difficult maneuvering the jacuzzi as the faucets and knobs were very unique. The refrig and microwave were in the closet. We didn't find it until my husband went down to look for the fridge with complimentary water! Breakfast was very good. You ordered the night before and there were no mistakes. Breakfast alone was worth upwards of $10 each. The fruit was good and both our omelettes as well. I had the egg white and my husband - usual omelette. We shared a waffle. There was a Keurig and water available all day. We enjoyed our stay and walked into Fells Point - not a short walk (1 mile or so) but when eating fresh ice cream from the oldest market (that just opened) a walk was necessary! read more

We stayed for a weekend (Friday - Sunday). The unloading parking on arrival is on the street right in front of the door. Their lot is just back up Albermarle from the door. The staff was friendly and attentive. They all seem to genuinely care if you are enjoying your stay. The accommodations are as described on the website, so I won't describe that further. Breakfast is made specifically for you from their menu, which has a few options and plenty of ways to customize. We ate breakfast in the dining area, which was quiet since most people ate in their rooms. It's convenient to the harbor, Fell'a Point, and Little Italy. We walked 10 miles around the area on Saturday. We walked back from Disco Pizza (between the popular Fell's Point area and Little Italy) around 11 pm on Saturday, and we found the walk generally well lit and safe. COST NOT JUSTIFIED ANYMORE - update Unfortunate - really has gone down (All about service) attention to detail lost And lack of care and corners cut (cheap) Please understand the the setting and room are still beautiful, but what am I paying for ($375+ a night) if the service was far short from it hefty price tag. 10 years ago and even 3 years ago, it was so much better 1) No one answers the door upon arrival - seriously?? The doors are locked so you can't even check-in 2) NO TOWELS AT ALL in the room 3) bathrobes replaced with thin, itchy and cheap waffle-textured robes 4)Dirty room (rose petals left behind from cleaning another party's romance package) 5) THE AIR CONDITIONER in the declaration suite doesn't work in the bedroom (they added a WINDOW A/C (Super loud) unit that my husband called an upgraded motel 6) LUKEWARM COFFEE provided to room (I asked for almond milk and he asked for half& half, they only brought almond 2 days in a row) 7) Day 2- we left out our coffee mugs from the previous day, the next day when coffee was delivered, they never brought us a new set (you had to pick up the cups to even bring us the new coffee- what mugs would we have now to drink from??) 8) the cutlery in the room on top of the fridge was dirty 9)TV NOT WORKING in the sitting room (constantly on standby) - side note* TVs need major upgrade 10) CORN SYRUP instead of MAPLE SYRUP?!?! It cannot be that expensive to provide a little bit of maple syrup 11) provided breakfast, the Omelette's egg tasted like it was a pre-made egg patty 12) simple solution for noise. My first time here was in 2014 this is my 2nd time staying here. This time for a family member wedding. No they didn't get married at the inn and I wish they did. The breakfast was incredible. The bed was so comfortable. The staff is so welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area when it comes to seeing things eating where to buy stuff they were just awesome. I'm planning to come back in December for my husband's birthday to surprise him with a stay here. I wonder if they give discount to repeat clients lol. 3rd time a chime. But I really do have to said the rooms are Exquisite the breakfast is delicious and if you really want to stay at a place that has a beautiful welcoming charm about it you need to try this bed-and-breakfast you will not be disappointed hello I keep coming back for a reason lol read more

This is a beautifully appointed Bed & Breakfast in downtown Baltimore (Jonestown). I found it on Trip Advisor and it was highly recommended so my boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a brief weekend getaway. This property is full of history and beauty. It has been restored recently and has been tastefully decorated right down to every last detail. We stayed in the Diplomat Suite which had a bit of a masculine flair to it. The room was so clean and had plenty of amenities (mini-fridge, microwave, whirlpool tub, spacious bathroom, super comfy bed with feather pillows, Wi-Fi, etc.) The highlight of the stay was definitely the breakfast. We ate in the large dining room which I highly recommend. The pancakes and omelets were scrumptious and they will cook according to your dietary needs. I don't eat pork, so they were happy to cook turkey bacon and sausage for me. The outdoor gardens are beautiful; the Inn hosts many weddings, events and receptions. My only complaint was the noise level in the bedroom at night. However, I cannot justify giving this 4 stars because we did stay on a Saturday evening and the weather was gorgeous; many people were out and about. I plan ahead since I'm a light sleeper and since I brought along my "white-noise" machine, it helped cancel out some of the road noise. I was really impressed with our star treatment as guests, and the period, themed decor that helped give it a nostalgic feel. The bathroom, with a huge jacuzzi tub, was super- spacious. Clean, quiet, and quaint - perfect for a couples' getaway any time of the year. Things I Really Loved: made-to-order breakfast, robes to use, bottled water, parking in their lot, hot tea and coffee 24hrs/day are included in your room and they don't charge extra for it. Treated myself to a birthday getaway at 1840's Carrollton Inn. Parking was plentiful in the lot adjacent to the Inn and the street seemed well-lit. My car was safe the entire time. Tina greeted me immediately and was super friendly and helpful. The Congressional Room is as beautiful as they come. Everything was clean and not a spec of dust anywhere! They take Covid sanitation seriously because I could smell the cleanliness of the bathroom... nothing overpowering or anything like that, but it was obvious attention was paid to ensure safety. This is the second bed and breakfast I've ever been to, and I have to say that I've set the bar a little too high for all my future travels. The 1840s Carrollton Inn was incredible- everything from the location, the room itself, the staff, and the food was charming and impressive. The Inn is located right off the inner harbor across S. President St, and a nice stroll or free city bus ride to Fell's Point. It's just around the corner from the Charm City Circulator's Green Route bus at stop #116 (S. President St & E. Lombard St.) and a block away from the Shot Tower subway station. They offer discounted parking ($10 for 24hr) fairly close by at a lot in Little Italy. The staff is very friendly and accommodating- they offered great restaurant recommendations and offered to store our luggage and bags before as well as after our check in times. They also carried our luggage up three flights of stairs during elevator repairs. We chose to stay in the Estate Room, which was amazing. We were greeted with some fancy chocolates, a stocked fridge and microwave with complimentary water, soda, and popcorn plus the usual coffee and tea. They also offer coffee, tea, and granola bars in the lobby around the clock. The room itself was warm and inviting, with a very comfortable and clean bed. The curtains were layered to let light in or block light out to your preference. The heated fireplace was a lovely finishing touch. The bathroom took the show though - floor to ceiling marble and absolutely breathtaking with a skylight. I want to add that I would normally never touch a hotel hot tub, but I need to mention that upon checking in, our hot tub reeked of bleach (which, if you didn't know, is the proper way to clean a hot tub - running for 5 minutes with a bleach mixture). I don't think I've ever seen a hotel hot tub actually cleaned before and this really impressed me. Our included breakfast was easy to order and one of the most relaxing meals we had all week. They gave us a sheet to leave out the night before to pick your meals and refreshments, and choose when and where you'd have the meal. We opted to eat in the courtyard instead of in our room. They also offered pre-breakfast tea or coffee. The home made brioche french toast was by far my favorite but the entire meal was well prepared and comforting. I could not stop raving about this place when I got home, and I look forward to going back to Baltimore because I already know where I'm staying! read more

Found this gem online. There's a gaited parking lot, so your car is safe. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and eager to make our stay perfect! We stayed in 203. Delightful romantic suite! The jacuzzi fits two comfortably. The fireplace in the main room is romantic but does not give off heat. The bedroom is spacious. The bed is comfortable. The shades pull down and block out light. Closet space and hangers available. Hairdryer, a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, & body soap, robes, and towels provided. Breakfast is included, fill out your choices the previous night and you can also request breakfast in your room. Food was good, portions are perfectly sized. The ONLY drawback is... From 0600-0800 is apparently rush hour where all of Baltimore drives by at 100 mph and trucks feel the need to lean on the horns. I can't even explain how bizarre that traffic pattern is ( and I'm from NJ!). Anyway, don't plan on sleeping in with that mad rush. Other than that.. this place is such a great little gem and we would love to go back and stay in a room on the courtyard side. read more

We made a reservation for Friday. All was fine until we arrived at the B&B We had a service dog with us. We are from New Jersey, we didn't know Maryland had different rules for service dogs. In New Jersey we have no certificates or papers to prove our dog is a service dog. The Manager was very rude, insisting we needed a certificate. But in New Jersey there are no such rules. By the way, the 1840's isn't in the best of neighborhoods, No place to park... you have to find a parking spot on the street. Then walk the street up to the B&B! I wouldn't stay in a place like this...ever! If she were so rude and confrontational, what if there were other problems, such as bed bugs or old mattresses. No thanks! We went to the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court, and got great rates on hotel.com... very accommodating, no problem with our Service Dog. We went to Aldo's for dinner....food is excellent, and servers were spot on! By the way, our small Pug...(I am a diabetic, and my pug lets me know about my sugar levels) is very well trained. By the way, we did find out later, there is a parking lot on the side of the building, but no one told us. read more

We were very disappointed in our stay. I will start with the room. For the cost we expected it to be as described and well appointed.  The shades for the bathroom scones were missing showing ugly led bulbs. The website said all rooms had a fridge and microwave for snacks etc..there was neither.  The tv armoire in the bedroom latch needs repair so would not close and looked unsightly. Moving on to breakfast we left our order on the door requesting coffee to the room at 8 am which was never delivered.  We were given the excuse that the night person didn't pick up the orders however we know it was gone at 7:30.  We are vegan and the online menu differed from the menu on site.  The "fluffy" pancakes were anything but and we had requested with bananas and were told they were in the pancakes...there was no banana flavor at all.  We had requested vegan sausage and are pretty sure it was not...it tasted wrong and we were both sick later in the day. Overall not a good experience especially considering the cost. I tried emailing and also mailed them a letter but no response. read more

My wife and I stayed here over our 4th of July weekend visit to Baltimore. Without knowing how busy the inn was going to be we made our reservations at the beginning of May for the Congressional Room. The Congressional room has a queen sized bed with a marble fireplace and a single whirlpool tub. However whenever we checked in we found out that they weren't fully booked for the weekend and so we were complimentary upgraded to the Congressional Suite. This suite had a king sized four poster bed, double whirlpool tub and a separate sitting room with a marble fireplace and daybed. It's probably needless to say that we were ecstatic with the upgrade. The room was easily the nicest room that we have ever stayed at in a B & B. Everything about the room was posh and elegant and we loved staying in it. One of the nicest things about this B & B was how they did breakfast. You have to remember that they are probably bigger than most B & B's and have more rooms on the way. Anyways the night before breakfast you are given a giant sheet of paper with a huge number of choices on it and you can pick as many as you want. The sheet sort of reminded me of a giant sushi order form. So you mark all of your choices on it and also give them the time that you want breakfast as well as whether you will take it in your room, the courtyard or the dining room. Lastly there is an option to get coffee before breakfast in which case they will bring it at the requested time and leave it outside your door. Can you say awesome? It was almost like having room service instead of staying at a B & B. I know that may turn some people off but I really enjoyed it as did my wife. The first morning we were there we ended up taking breakfast in our room while the second morning we took breakfast in their beautiful courtyard. Last but not least the staff here were incredibly nice and all very pleasant. As a matter of a fact the front desk person overhead us talking about where to go in Little Italy one evening and made reservations for us at his personal favorite restaurant. Now that is great service! The bottom line for me is that my wife and I will definitely stay here again in the future. Walking distance from Little Italy, the Aquarium, Inner Harbor and Harbor East. The staff were super friendly! The room was beautiful! And the breakfast was delicious! Our favorite meal was the blueberry pancakes. The hash browns on the side were amazing too. Both the healthy omelette and regular omelette were great too! This is a great place to stay in Baltimore! I didn't have a rental car, so being close to restaurants, etc. was a must and this place is in a great area. Two blocks from Little Italy, and very close to shopping and other restaurants. My room was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable - lots of pillows! I liked having a table with chairs to sit at for eating or doing stuff on my laptop. The wifi worked great. There was some traffic noise during morning and evening rush hours, but it didn't last forever. Another winner for me was being able to order the breakfast to be delivered to my room. I loved being able to stay in my pi's and enjoy a fresh, hot breakfast with a pot of coffee! The food was very good and you can order almost anything you want. (I ordered eggs Benedict twice and scrambled eggs with feta once - very delicious!) This is NOT a mom-and-pop kinda B&B, where they hold your hand every step of the way, and I was more than fine with that. This really is more of an "inn" feel. However, I found the staff very accommodating (let me check in a bit early and check out a bit late), friendly, and attentive when needed. read more

From the gorgeous decor to the attentive staff to the fabulous food, everything is perfect.You don't get a lot of gems like this in a big city, that's for sure. The rooms are beautiful, each with it's own setup of colors and furniture that really make you feel like you're on a movie set. The bathrooms are glorious - big Jacuzzi tubs with a shower as well, roomy and clean. The outside courtyard is perfect for relaxing in the spring or summer. The food, especially the breakfast, is better than anything I've had in a full-on restaurant in the area. I stayed here the weekend of my wedding 09/2017. Everything was amazing. They provided a great breakfast, excellent costumer service.

I've now stayed in three different rooms at the 1840s Carrollton Inn and each one has been spacious, historic, beautiful, comfortable and very special. That last adjective being the most important: this is a special place. The staff is wonderful and helpful, the location is fantastic - walk 2 minutes to Little Italy, 10 minutes to East Harbor, 15 minutes to the center of Inner Harbor, 20 minutes to Camden Yards, the breakfast is delicious and plentiful, plus they have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus, and the rooms are extremely well appointed, furnished and stocked. Again, this is a special place, it's not a chain hotel (nothing wrong with chain hotels of course), it's a one of kind location in the middle of Baltimore, that has very real possibility of becoming one of "your" places that you and your spouse look forward to returning to. There is one caveat, they do host a number of wedding parties, so you do run the risk of people celebrating on a Friday or Saturday evening, but so goes life, and if you are going to begrudge people for drinking and being loud at a venue that caters to weddings and celebrations, then I believe you are the one with the problem, not the hotel ;) Wonderful place, stay there for someplace special with someone special. read more

On the edge of Little Italy (and, you'll know it's Little Italy as the overhead signs, painted streets, and customized fire hydrants will scream at you), The Carrollton Inn is a hidden gem. Very affordably priced, you'll first be aware something is amiss as you walk through the front door. You pass from 21st century mid-Atlantic urban, to mid-19th century, fully-restored Victorian. IMMACULATELY dressed and maintained, from the ceilings ringed with elaborate crown moulding, hand painted wall textures, brocade drapery, period furnishings and artwork at every turn, to the absolutely accommodating and obsessively sincere staff. But wait....you haven't entered your room. That's where the jaw-dropping experience just begins. Visually stunning, perfectly functional, and exquisitely furnished. It's at this point, it hits you. Where did this place come from, and how did I end up here? And then, open the bathroom door. Whoa! Each room (there are only 12 in the entire Inn) has it's own texture and qualities, but the customized bathrooms are to die for. Floor-to-ceiling marble in elaborate patterns, fixtures that came out of a European castle, and enough space to have a party in. Oh, and then there's the food! You pre-order breakfast the evening before and are warmly greeted the next morning in the dining room downstairs with any & every variation of breakfast fare you can dream up. And, coffee is everywhere. In your room, brought to your room, dining room, and available during the day. I've stayed at the Carrollton Inn multiple times (ANYtime I'm in Baltimore, for both pleasure as well as business), and each time The Inn has surpassed my expectations. My wife and I booked this room for an anniversary get-away but when our arrangement with our children fell thru we needed to cancel. My wife sent an email 6 days before the booking date. We were told there is a 7 day cancellation policy and they would be retaining the full price. I asked for everything from allowing us to get a voucher for a future stay to some compromise on a cancellation fee - I drove this all the way to the general manager. We selected this inn from pictures online. Sometimes the pictures look better than the actual place, not in this case,the actual place is far better than the pictures. Once inside the grounds one is transported to the 1800s. The decor is period appropriate, the staff is wonderful to a one. The gardens are a beautiful place to have your pre-ordered breakfast served to you. I will not stay anywhere else in Baltimore again. My husband and I stayed at this inn for one night before a cruise last May. I wasn't going to bother to write a review, but for some reason they've been bombarding me with emails in the last week asking me to write a review, so I decided to finally give them what they want, and if my lackluster rating brings down their average here, that's what they get for being so annoying about it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the 1840's Carrollton Inn, but there's not much right about it, either. My personal preference is for the kind of bed and breakfast run by an old lady who looks like your grandma and has two cute cats, who makes heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast and decorates each room with doilies that she crocheted herself. In other words, I like cute and cozy. The Carrollton Inn is not that kind of B&B. The furniture in all the rooms is very beautiful and historically accurate, but I kept being afraid to touch it or sit on it. Instead of a welcoming proprietor who is always there, you get a rotating staff of young and eager desk clerks, just like at any other hotel or motel. The parking situation is very complicated and takes a lot of explaining. You have to eat breakfast in a common room at the same time as everybody else, but for some reason you have to make your choices from the menu the night before. Like I said, nothing was really wrong with our stay, and I guess there might be some people out there who take what I saw as "stiff and formal" as "classic and elegant," but since they have been so insistent that I share my opinion with the world, I'm putting it out there! read more

Why not 5 stars, like everybody else? This is a lovely spot, with "lovely" (meaning high) prices to match. The room was beautiful, and the staff were friendly. We were off to a good start at check-in. But then... On our visit, there was a large wedding party that commandeered the entire place. We were the only "non-wedding" guests. The staff were occupied elsewhere, with other folks. The cook (singular...only one poor guy) could not keep up with the breakfast orders. Our order came 45 minutes after its turn-in. Uh-oh. The best was yet to come. The bridal party drank, caroused and generally acted like drunken oafs in the courtyard until 4 A.M. No kidding. I could understand if this happened at a cheap Days Inn. But 1840's? C'mon folks! Are times that tough? No staff intervention whatsoever. The old guy (bless him) that watched the night-shift was completely outmatched and outnumbered. Soooooo... If you plan to stay there, be SURE to ask if there are any groups scheduled or on site!! Otherwise, you pays your money and takes your chances. Came here to stay after the Preakness this year and the overall experience was quite nice. The rooms are comfortable and while the decor isn't exactly my style (which I was prepared for) it is a lovely space. The bathroom was large and had a tub with jets and a shower. We chose to have breakfast in our room since it was going to be too chilly to eat on the patio. It arrive hot and on time. My boyfriend and I stayed here recently for a long weekend getaway. It is very charming and the location is wonderful. We were able to walk everywhere which for us is a ++. However we had room 103 located next to the kitchen. We were awaken every morning at 5:00 am ish. I am not sure what was the cause of the daily banging but it usually lasted till around 7:30 am or so. Thank goodness we were able to take a nap in the afternoon. Well almost......on Friday, there was a group of people which I believe were employees and friends all gathered in the kitchen and the lobby. So the noise level was a little loud. I may eventually stay here again but I would definitely not stay on the first floor. I would hope the second floor would be a lot less noisy. read more

Everything about this B&B is amazing: The location - within such easy walking distance of the harbor and Little Italy The staff - so friendly and helpful The rooms - fireplace, jacuzzi bath, tv, fridge and microwave, OH MAN! The breakfast - what an experience. You get a menu on your door the night before and you get to choose for all their fabulous offerings which can be delivered to your room (at your own little dining table) or in the dining room. Everything was wonderful. Quick check in and out. There was a free parking lot right outside the hotel. It was in a perfect location. Literally steps away from the inner harbor, power plant live and little Italy. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The room was amazing and it was very quiet. The jetted tub was amazing. Everything was absolutely amazing. We opted for breakfast in bed. The selections were plentiful and it was very tasty! I can't wait to visit again in the near future. read more

1840s Carrollton Inn - Breakfast in bed! - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I can't think of anything negative to say about this place. My husband and I live 20 minutes away yet will most likely continue to stay here once or twice a year. We've been four times (seven nights total) and our favorite room is the Scholar's Room. The decor is so beautiful and exquisite that even if you're super macho (like my husband) or not too into that sort of thing (like me) you will find yourself transfixed all the same. The ambiance of the room will make you feel romanced and at rest. I cannot get enough. The bathroom especially makes you feel like you are high-class livin'. Double whirlpool bath = WIN. The bed is like something from the home of a Victorian royal. I've never been in a room so adorned. Lovely, intimate, cozy, beautiful. I could go on and on. One of my favorite features is the made-to-order breakfast delivered when you want. The french toast is DELICIOUS. We load up on everything as it's all included: omelets, french toast, bananas and walnuts drizzled with honey, crispy bacon. We eat it while wearing the robes that are in the closet upon arrival. You feel like you're in some remote, faraway place only to step outside and be a ten-minute walk to the Inner Harbor. I cannot wait until our next stay at the Carrollton. read more

Just got back from a stay at the 1840s Carrollton Inn. The room we chose, the Independence room, was wonderful. King size bed, whirlpool tub, decorated in rich red and gold tones with very ornate furnishings. HOWEVER, this room is located right on a busy street. The street noise is VERY loud and my husband and I got absolutely no sleep at all. Cars, trucks, motorcycles all night long. The noise from the large trucks during early morning hours (5am/6am) actually shook our room. The breakfast is wonderful and the staff very friendly. But my advice to anyone interested in staying here is to talk to a live person when booking your room and make sure the room you are interested in is not located street side but rather the courtyard side. read more

Best value around...period. This room was so luxurious, I would have paid quadruple for the same room in a high-end hotel. The bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms. The sunken whirlpool and huge walk-in shower was great. There was enough granite and marble in there to do several large kitchens. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a large suite on the first floor which was my only complaint. The first floor in Little Italy is going to be a bit noisy at night. You will hear the bus stop but the heavy drapes did dampen the noise. I'll still stay there again...soon. YOu should too! read more

I've stayed at a lot of hotels, B&Bs, and "inns," and this is the first independent establishment that has actually delivered on its promise. The decor is beautiful, the bathroom is splendid (in room 103, at any rate - double jacuzzi tub plus separate shower!), the food is astonishingly good (possibly the best eggs Benedict I've had), and the service is kind and attentive. We spent the night here after our tiny wedding down the street, and they made the occasion even more special. read more

So we just keep coming back. We try to come here at least once a year. Folks here are friendly. Accommodations are excellent. Breakfast is so delicious. We've been here at least five times in the last 4 years and will keep coming back for our weekend getaway. Did I mention affordable!!! read more
